Each time they tried to upsell me by talking about other better(more expensive) choices. Gel X. I tried it once and was very unhappy with it. Today my teenage son went to get a plain mani/pedi before camp. He was not satisfied with the service so left a low tip. The owner came over to him and said most people leave 20%. I was so upset to hear this. My son changed the tip because he was so uncomfortable not because he thought they deserved it. They did not do the full service for him. The massage was very short and no paraffin. There are so many nail salons around. We will go back to the salons that appreciate the business we give them and do not treat customers this way.

Yesterday I went in for a mani and pedi. I asked for a Lincoln Park After Dark dip on my hands. The manicurist was struggling with the powder not drying, and kept having to redo it. I asked her several times if I should pick another color and she said no each time. By the end, my nails still had uneven spots so she said not to worry she was going to put gel on it. She actually proceeded to put gel polish and top coat on top of my nails with the powder on them. I really didn't want gel on my hands but I didn't complain because I had sat there for so long. Last evening, I saw that most of my nails had large smudges on them. I emailed the salon and when I never got a reply, I went in this morning to have them repaired. I spoke to the owner and said I thought I just needed a new color because there was something not right with what I had got. She wanted to rewrap all of the smudged nails and I had no interest in doing the gel thing again- I don't want gel and I payed for a dip powder. I said I knew I didn't have an appt and might need to wait a bit or come back in a few- she actually had the gaul to ask me to come back on Friday. Today is Wednesday, New Year's Eve. I told her I could not wait til Friday and would need to go somewhere else to have it repaired. Well, she didn't seem to care at all so I left. Guess what? I will never be back and I won't be sending anyone to her place again.

My experience at TL Nails Spa was just the opposite: Elaine was patient, thorough, and careful. She did just the right amount of using tools to cut and push cuticles. I left feeling like my toes and fingers were fresh and clean, but not too dug-into so as to cause pain. The employees in this nail salon are very friendly and chatty. Though I was a new customer, the other customers were locals who had been there multiple times. The manager seemed to know which colors they had chosen in the past and was chatty with them about their families, work, etc. Compared to getting my nails done closer to the city where the nail salons are more impersonal and seemingly in a rush, this place is excellent. It has a cozy feel inside and though the massage chairs are not the most pristine, who cares? The staff is kind, the place is cozy, their work is well done. The priorities are in the right place.

Found Pretty in Polish and was able to book an appointment online through their website. (Online booking is a huge bonus). The salon was easy to find and had a little parking lot (it is next to a European Wax Center). It is a smaller salon with maybe 6-8 stations each for manicures and pedicures. They had a pretty large color selection that was well organized. I was greeted as I entered the salon, and since I had an appointment, they knew (and greeted me by) my name. It took as long as it took me to pick a color to be seated in the chair ready to go. My technician was Luci. She was very friendly and did a great job. She was thorough and took her time, but was still timely. She checked in with me throughout the process to make sure I liked the shape, length, color, etc. The prices at Pretty in Polish are competitive and well priced. They accept tips via cash and Venmo, and had the Venmo QR codes posted - which is super helpful given most people, myself especially, do not usually carry cash on hand. I would definitely consider this salon again if I need services in the area and would recommend if you are looking for a small, quiet salon.

I have not been seen yet. A person that came in after me is getting their nails done, and yet I have been sitting here for my birthday nail set for nearly an hour despite showing up on time. When I went in, I'd asked for a caramel balayage. That's not what I left with, even after I told them I didn't like the color, and they added toner to darken it. I called Arté as a last resort, after trying to find multiple other salons in the Natick area who could accommodate me. None of them could; I was in a terrible time crunch(wedding, party, and holiday event) and needed something done ASAP. Arté took me as a walk in, and asked that I come in around noon for a consult. I met with Denise who was professional, and understanding at the same time. My hair didn't look "bad" but it wasn't what I'd asked for. I don't think the last salon had any bad intentions with my hair but they just weren't able to give me what I'd asked for (despite a picture and revisiting it during a 6 hour appointment.) Denise showed me several swatches and told me she'd do the best she could to rid my hair of the copper color, or mute it as much as possible. The end result is actually much closer to the color I'd originally wanted done. I went from copper/auburn to a warm brown/slight caramel color and I love it.

It wasn't busy either, there were open seats. My friend was seen first, then I was shown to a seat for a gel manicure. The lady didn't talk to me at all, she randomly got up to turn on the water for an older gentleman. She swished her hand around his feet and his water bowl to feel the temp then immediately came back to me and touched my hand to finish a finger. At the end of my manicure she got up, didn't say a word and went back to the same gentleman. I didn't know if she was done or not, my friend had to get her attention and ask if my service was complete, she turned and said all done still sitting with the gentleman rubbing his feet. I then said "oh usually I get some lotion and a hand massage, I didn't know it's over". (All other places put a small bit of lotion and rub my hands for at least 2-3min and verbally say thank you or all done. The nail lady rudely proceeds to squirt lotion in my hand for me to rub myself and it drips on my flip flop. She says "there's your lotion" in a sarcastic tone. Very rude and body language was just off. Worst experience at a nail salon, won't be returning or recommending to anyone. Please do better, yes we weren't regulars but it's not right to treat newcomers so poorly.
