Great little beach motel with beautiful views, just a short walk to downtown and the ferry. It's an older property, and you can see some of that age--could use a good pressure wash--but overall it was a charming and convenient spot for a weekend getaway.

ok first off it's nice the hotel is on the water and that's about it. first get there the young girl is texting stood there for a good minute she never looked up she knew i was there because i sat my stuff on the counter then finally the middle aged woman was rude AF no nice greeting just spouted out check in as at 4 and our cleaners just started i will call if your room is ready never got a call came back close to 4 and the old lady ignored me i stood there again for a good minute. These 3 woman shouldn't be working in hospitality, you will be losing business because of them. the guy that works there was nice. the room was nice except it looks like the decks were about to collapse.

First time I've ever seen a black makeup towel provided - very smart!

We grabbed a "superior double room" for a spontaneous overnight getaway. Overall we were very pleased. Pros: * The view is amazing. We watched the ferry, and boats come and go from the marina * Fun wildlife - we watched ducks, seals and even an otter hunting - right from the balcony * Shower was a HUGE walk in with dual shower heads * Room was very clean and updated * Staff was pleasant and accommodating when I asked for an extra blanket Cons: * Neighbor noise - Tile floors are great but not very soundproof. Our overhead neighbors sounded like they were wearing concrete boots at 11:30pm * Gas fireplace worked but the flame was so low it was almost invisible. It was not adjustable, just on or off. Would've made the room just a bit cozier I would definitely stay here again (preferably on the top floor for better noise contr

    Smelly garbage outside our door.

When we first arrived at 5:30, the desk clerk just wouldn't quit talking. It took far too long to get our keys and head to the room. At the room, we discoverd that it had not been cleaned! Back at the desk, she was apologetic, but once again she just wouldn't stop talking and making excuses. We finally managed to communicate to her we'd go to dinner so she could get the room cleaned. After dinner, the room had new towels and linens, but otherwise had seen only a minimum cleaning. Certainly not what you'd expect for over $300 per night. Another big problem was the two overflowing and very stinky garbage cans outside the entrance to the room. These cans stayed there the whole two night of our stay. Icky. See the picture. As we checked out, I made it clear we were not happy. All the desk clerks would do is say we had to call the manager on Monday, which I did. I got the same woman that checked us in. Turns out she is the front desk manager. She admitted that there were problems, and we'd need to talk to the general manager. However, she just started making excuses and then would not stop talking. I finally yelled at her to let me get a word in, and she hung up. Obviously, do not stay at this hotel. Incredibly overpriced, a Motel 6 experience for a Hilton price.

My husband and I booked a two-night, waterfront deluxe suite in hopes of enjoying the fresh sea air and views from the balcony in close proximity to downtown Port Townsend. As we approached the hotel, we couldn't help but notice a peculiar sight on the second floor. One of the rooms was being used as a hoarder-style floor-to-ceiling storage space for cardboard boxes. How unprofessional and unsightly! Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere one would expect from a supposedly reputable establishment. The front desk staff took unprofessionalism to a whole new level. One of the front desk staff, during every interaction, shamelessly devoured his meals while supposedly assisting guests. It was beyond disrespectful and made me question the basic principles of hospitality. Is it too much to ask for a modicum of professionalism and common courtesy? He was also speaking inappropriately to another staff member in front of us. He had his (super sweet and cute!) dog in the reception area wandering around and interacting with guests. This isn't something we minded at all as we love dogs, but it might make some guests uncomfortable. Entering our room was a mixed bag; the view is breathtaking, and the initial impression is great. But once we started unpacking it was abundantly clear that cleanliness was not a priority for this establishment. There were cobwebs, urine stains and hair around the toilet, the floors hadn't been cleaned; just grime throughout the entire room, and the balcony was very dirty with spider webs, spiders and other insect 'nests' on the chairs and balcony itself. Another example of improper cleaning was finding a previous guests' clothing in the bedside drawer. On our way back from dinner, we picked up various cleaning supplies and cleaned all surfaces so we wouldn't have to find another room on the holiday. One should not have to question their safety and hygiene while staying at a hotel. Imagine booking a hotel room with the intention of enjoying the fresh air outside, only to be met with clouds of smoke from adjacent room guests barbecuing on the patio! The noxious fumes rendered any outdoor activities impossible, leaving us trapped inside like prisoners. We brought it to the attention of the front desk agent who had no constructive response. Surprisingly, the bed and linens were spotless! We check for bedbugs and stains and found this bed to be one of the cleanest we've ever seen. The bed was also very comfortable. The sweeping views of the Quimper Peninsula were beautiful. There seems no better place to enjoy the sea birds, wildlife and the boats come in and out of the harbor! We enjoyed walking along the rocks and beach at low tide. The location was great for this! In conclusion, our stay at The Tides was not ideal. From the sight of a room being used for storage to unprofessional staff, dirty rooms, neglected items, and a smoke-filled atmosphere, many aspects of this hotel failed to meet the most basic expectations. Over $600 is a ridiculous amount to pay for the lack of cleanliness and professionalism experienced.

We stopped by for one night for a quick anniversary trip. Our room was clean, we actually got to check in early, which was great. Parking is a little snug, as we brought our suburban. But that area of town is completely walkable, so it didn't affect our experience at all. I can't imagine having a better view. We will be back!

We stayed in room 6. It's an old Victorian house with a number of antique artifacts including instruments, guns, books, etc. There is no elevator - you have to climb the stairs to get to your room or downstairs to the billiards table & guest fridge. The innkeeper is extremely sweet. She welcomed us in and explained about the house. At 9am (prompt), she serves breakfast, which was a delight! It was a full 3 course meal - everything home-made (or from a local bakery). Honestly, the breakfast here was better than our dinner at a restaurant the night before! Our room was very cute - it looked like the inside of a doll house. For my husband, who is a tall man (6'2), he felt a bit claustrophobic because the ceiling comes inwards. But for my 5' self, I didn't mind. Everything was clean and had a nice presentation. They even had home-made cookies waiting! We really enjoyed our stay, and it was nice to have a sit down breakfast with the other guests and chat together. There's also a sweet doggo named Ursa who you may see putter around. For a nice weekend away from the city, this is a very cozy quaint place to stay.

The Digs: There's no attendant, so you need to book in advance with the lovely manager, Marilou. She really cares about the hotels she manages and truly wants your stay to be a memorable one. Upon arrival you will get codes for both the building and your room. Speaking of the room, when you enter, you are greeted by music playing on the radio and a few lights on. A nice, simple touch, especially after a long day of traveling. The old hotel is super clean and cozy, yet modern. It almost feels like you're staying at a friends house. This is definitely a gem in Port Townsend and I would not hesitate to stay here again. The minor "constructive criticisms" that I have are to give a good corner scrubbing along the baseboards in the bathroom and to keep the soap and shampoo fairly full to give the "illusion" that your guests are the first ones to stay there.

[Note: no extra plush blankets provided, but the in-room heater was good]. Reviews of the water front motels in Port Townsend mentioned bed bugs which scared me and led me to book here. You should think about staying at Mansera Castle if you like character and history because the building has a palpable sense of olden times built into the architecture, the creaky stairs, the narrower door frames, and the oldest working elevator in the state (it's a bit like a freight elevator with brocade dressing). However, the lack of accessible entryway (a flight of steep stairs to get inside) and an antique elevator that is only operable by hotel staff should warn off people with limited mobility, injuries etc. I used the wonderful WiFi for a night of iPad entertainment while toasty under the covers. It was a fun experience for a night, but it might have been louder had the hotel been full. Nearing Christmas, the hotel staff had decorated the erstwhile Victorian-era wealthy resident's home parlor. This was rather charming to see and definitely not replicable in a sterile, modern hotel chain. This vast building was subsequently used as a Jesuit boarding house for decades. The hotel amenities are barebones relative to a modern hotel chain where you might expect a writing desk fitted with desk lamps, and numerous outlets, etc. My room came with TV, refrigerator, a coffee machine and insufficient wall outlets. Even the internal phone system was non existent. Downstairs lobby has coffee in the morning. No breakfast included in the price. The whole historical immersion experience is unique however.
