We had a great stay here. The place was clean and a fully stocked kitchen was great to have. It was fun picking out some kids movies from there VHS tape collection. There is room for a nice short walk past the chickens and goats. Beautiful view of tge bay from our room. The location seems remote, but it's surrounded by hiking trails, it's 15 minute drive from Port Townsend and 15 minutes from sequim, and right across the street from disco Bay which is a great place to have a beer and watch live music. There is road noise, but once we closed our front window, it was fine. read more

Interesting place, the owner is very friendly and helpful and its a good value for the money (Paid $75 at hotel.com)- Each unit is a cabin, and has a full kitchen in it, and a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The cons of this place, is #1-No WiFi, so no internet unless your using your mobile device( or Tablet) has 3 or 4 G connection. The other con, is that there is no tv stations as they dont have Cable or Satellite tv, but each unit does have a old 80's style tv, and they have a good selection of VHS and DVD's in the office. One of the biggest plus here, is the location is right off of the highway, and very easy to find, there is one restaurant with in walking distance, and the town of Port Townsend is a short drive, This appears to be a working semi farm, as they have goats, chickens and a roster that will wake you up in the morning lol, they also sell eggs here. read more

My girlfriend and I were traveling all over western Washington because we're looking to move up there. We tried the adventurous route of not booking any hotels in advance and just staying wherever we landed. One of those cities was Port Townsend and one of those motels was the Valley View. This place is darlin'. There are five cabins, each separate from each other. Each cabin contains beds, a small kitchen, a sitting area, and a bathroom. The kitchen has a fridge, silverware, tableware, a microwave, and a stove. The motel area is on a farm right off the 101 and 20 highways. There are fat hens that will follow you around begging for feed. It is pet friendly as well. It was lovely drinking a glass of wine and smoking a cigar out on the cabin's patio as the sun set. We had a really great time at this place. It was very inexpensive to stay here during the summer season and it was so peaceful and quiet. It was definitely the best place we stayed in Washington, and it was a helluva bargain. I was tempted to give it five stars, but I have to dock a point for the lack of WiFi and the slightly dated appearance. If they ever get WiFi though, then consider this a five star review. If you are driving to Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend, Bryn, or anywhere in the area, I advise, no... I DEMAND that you check out Valley View. read more

This motel was a disappointment. While some may enjoy the experience, you should come knowing what to expect. We could hear and see the highway, the appliances in our cottage looked like they were from circa 1970 (that's not hyperbole, they really did), the bed was horribly uncomfortable and hard, and it was unbearably hot yet only two windows (the kitchen and the bathroom) actually opened. All of that might have been okay if it weren't for the extremely strong ammonia/disinfectant smell that permeated the whole cottage. I am not sensitive to scents, but it made even me feel ill. We could also tell it was getting to our dog, which was ultimately why we left. Granted, the cottage was clean and the owners seemed nice enough. Watching old VHS tapes from our '90's childhood had a sort of campy fun about it. If you're looking for a truly weird "quirky" experience you might be into it. It seems to be located in an old couple's yard, the rental office opens right up to their house, and they provide countless VHS tapes from 20-30 years ago to watch in the VCR atop your cottage's non-working TV. It was downright bizarre. But don't expect anything nice. Many will miss TV, air conditioning, and wifi. All the decor and things seem to be cobbled together from Goodwill, and something about the vibe is just "off". Ultimately, we just didn't feel comfortable here and the horrible disinfectant smell bothered us too much. If it weren't for that we might have stayed, but we left early. We were hoping for a different experience than what we got. read more

The host guy was very pleasant, and there were dvds and bus tapes to borrow for free! There were also goats and a couple swallows that had a nest built by our door. We spent a week at the motel and it had all the accommodations we needed. Very cheap and clean. The place is a little run down esthetically speaking, but everything worked. They allow dogs which was a huge plus. We would definitely come back again. There is no wifi or cable, but we did have data coverage. Most of our time spent at the cabin was for breakfast and dinner/sleep. They have a tv with VHS/DVD set up, but we spent most of our time exploring the Olympic peninsula during our stay. Easy access to the highway and very quiet at night. read more

Definitely the outside of this motel is screaming for a new paint job, but the cottages are clean and the facilities are all functional. We slept well, but screens on the windows would help combat the few mosquitos that visited. The manager's dog and cat were very friendly. The manager went to the effort to call my cell phone and tell us that my son had left his computer in the cottage. My son is a professor, and he has scores of data on that computer. We retrieved the computer and thanked this honest man for his efforts to find us. read more

I wanted to like the Valley View Motel a lot more than I was able to. When I drove by a couple months ago it struck me as cute (I'm a sucker for a detached "cottage") and when I websurfed the price sure looked right. Unfortunately, the interior of my unit was bleakly charmless, in part because it was so cold. However, I figured out how to get the heater to work, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean enough. The TV didn't work but by the time I checked it out I didn't expect it to (I was just grateful to get the heater turned on; it appeared to be a combined water heater and room heater and there was a large sign saying not to change the water temperature so I wasn't sure what effect turning the knob would have but I had to try something because it was COLD), and I had not been offered any DVDs or VHS tapes anyway (despite the presence of a player in the room), so it didn't matter. I would like to be able to say that the price makes it worth it, but it really didn't. I walked by a hotel in downtown Port Townsend and have looked at their website and, knowing what I know now (they have astonishingly low prices), I'd definitely try there instead, and wish I had. In the Valley View's favor was how quiet it was. I was in the unit closest to the road and still slept soundly. That's about it, though. I just can't shake the feeling that paying $82 in mid-October should return more value than this. read more

I would've given one star, but due to booking problems we didn't get to stay at the motel. The owner graciously set up up in another hotel when our booking was not found by the office. This review is based on my experience booking the place, showing up and them not finding it. The reservations were on notes and pieces of paper all over the desk. Ours couldn't be found. We did it through Expedia and the site said we didn't need to call to confirm. If you use Expedia, call anyway...they won't get the reservation. The place is a throw back. Don't believe any of the photos. The cabins need painting. The drive is bare dirt. The grounds are dry and overrun with farm animals and other stuff that looks like broken equipment. Chickens pooping all over the place and the noise from the chickens and traffic were awful. As I drove up I had a feeling of dread. It looks like the type of place you see in bad horror movies. I expected to see a man in a leather mask run out at us with a chainsaw. I was actually happy when they said they couldn't find our reservation and were booked up. The owner was very nice and got us another hotel. The desk clerk/manager though gave us the wrong name of the hotel. We arrive in Pt Hadlock and couldn't find the hotel he told us to go to. I found out the one he mentioned had closed years ago and finally got the name of the right place to go. If you are hunting or fishing and looking for bare basics, feel free to book a room here. If you are looking for a motel setting with things like a clean place, parking, and trained staff, avoid it. read more

I found this treasure while looking for a quiet, inexpensive place to get away from city life. My daughter ended up asking me to bring along my 3 year old granddaughter and we had the time of our lives. We called the small cabin our "tiny house" and really enjoyed making meals in the kitchen, watching videos on the television, interacting with the goats, and exploring the region. We walked to a nearby general store for ice cream and drove to Port Townsend for an excursion as well. Now it is a fond memory and we will definitely return. read more

I love this place so much! We came here as our last stop on the 101 loop and it was such a good decision. The man and women running it were nice and accommodating. The price was decent and I loved that it was part of a farm. The smell of fresh air here cannot be beat. The goats, cat and dog were friendly as well. If you're hard to please I would not suggest to those types of people, but it had more than enough for us. They allowed us to have our dog in the cabin as well. It is only about a 20 minute drive from the town which was nice when we wanted to a little shopping and eating. They provided us with coffee, popcorn and all sorts of kitchen utensils you would need for cooking. The T.V was also a pretty cool throwback it had a DVD player and VHS as well. They had both DVD and VHS tapes to chose from in there check in area. The water stayed warm while showering and at night it got a bit colder but they have a gas heater in the cabin that warmed it up in no time. They also sell farm fresh eggs which was awesome because being from Tacoma those can be hard to find. I would have loved to stay here for more days, but we definitely will be coming back for possible weekend getaways. read more

It was to be a very low tide on July 2nd and 3rd so I was looking forward to beachcombing on Sea Glass Beach in Port Townsend for two days. I took time off from work to make this trip. My past experiences booking through Expedia have been good. This time, not so. I booked cabin #1 because the gentleman I spoke with at the motel said "that one's in better shape than the rest." After a long 8 mile hike and beachcombing all day I was ready for a shower and a rest. Check in was good and the caretaker was friendly. He informed me there was no wi-fi, which was no big deal. Then he stated they didn't even have TV reception, just a TV with a DVD combo player. The TV ended up being a 13-15 in Emerson that was probably made years ago. The cabin is very old. Water damage in the corner of the living room ceiling was painted over to try to hide it. While I would give the owners credit for making an effort, this is not a "cottage" by any stretch of the imagination. The pictures on the website try to make you think you are staying at a quaint farm. They are misleading. There are FEMA trailers in better shape. The whole cabin smelled like the bathroom toilet bowl freshener that was clipped to the inside of the bowl. There are no screens on the windows so bugs have a free range entry. The cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling had a sampling of the local crawling critters available. The thermometer inside the cabin said it was 85 degrees. This was with all the windows open and a fan going. There was no ceiling fan. Just a small 12-14 in tabletop fan. You couldn't set it to the highest setting because it would rock back and forth and become unstable. Bedding and beds were old and used, as were the furnishing. Honestly, it was the stuff of a bad garage sale. The items you have left over after the sale that no one would buy. The living room ceiling had water damage and was painted over to hide the cracked ceiling. Yet, I was willing to try to make this work. I really wanted my two days at the beach. I decided to take a shower. The bathroom is so small you have to turn sideways to get between the sink and shower stall to get to the toilet. The shower is a make-shift stall. The shower handles are not marked, and are the opposite of what one would think hot and cold should be. As I got out of the shower I heard voices outside the bathroom window. It was open and a small set of curtains covered the opening. This was a bit unnerving as there was really no reason for anyone to be back there because the back of the cabin faced a small dirt wall. But, there was the caretaker right outside the bathroom window. It was the last straw. I was not expecting the Taj Mahal, just a decent place to spend the night. I work hard for my money and expect that the advertised amenities (or lack thereof) are disclosed in the description. This unfortunately is not the place. There was no reason to speak with the caretaker because there was nothing he could do to improve the situation. My choices were to stay in this misrepresented motel, sleeping with all the windows closed with inadequate cooling and furnishings, or to leave. I chose to leave. I was angry that the description and pictures of the motel did not represent the place I checked into. I was angry that my mini-vacation left me feeling ripped off and disappointed. I have never disputed a charge on my credit card before, but will dispute this charge. read more

You get a scary feeling pulling up to it. Shower was Luke warm. Refrigerator was so loud, we rigged it to be quiet, so we could sleep. Heater fan did not work so you could smell the gas heat and it took a long time to heat bedroom area. No WIFI access in the room they gave us. Would not stay again. read more

This little motel is a find - not fancy, but very pleasant and the price is more than right. It consists of five cottages on a hillside. Dogs are welcome, and our dog enjoyed the friendly resident dog who accompanied us on a walk. I agree with Phil A.'s description and assessment. We slept well and enjoyed having a fridge and a coffeemaker (we didn't stay long enough to use the full kitchen). Don't miss the Snug Harbor restaurant, less than a mile down the road, to complete your little getaway. read more
