I travel extensively for work and always seek out Lebanese food to connect with my heritage. Having…read moreeaten at hundreds of Lebanese restaurants across multiple states--and traveling back to Beirut once a year--I have a very high bar for authenticity. My wife is also very familiar with the cuisine and cooks many of these traditional dishes herself. Last night, we tried BEI in Costa Mesa, and we are both absolutely thrilled to have found it. The hospitality here is amazing. Tommy gave us a warm greeting right as we walked in, and it was a pleasure chatting with him all evening. Our waiter, George, was equally amazing. He isn't Lebanese himself, but he jokingly told us that he is becoming Lebanese more and more every day just from eating the food here! He knew the menu inside and out, guiding us through the options and sharing his personal favorite plates with real passion. As for the food, my wife and I completely agreed that the chicken shawarma was easily the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. It fully equals what you would eat at a high-quality restaurant in Lebanon. The toum (garlic spread), which is an absolute must for the chicken, was unbelievable. The hummus, baba ganoush, batata harra (spicy potatoes), and the fattoush salad were all absolutely amazing and perfectly seasoned. We finished the evening with an incredible knefeh for dessert. Even the hookah was great--smooth, well-prepared, and the perfect addition to the evening. They have a DJ on Fridays and a belly dancer on Saturdays, giving the space an awesome weekend energy. If you want genuine Lebanese cuisine paired with true Middle Eastern hospitality, BEI is a must-visit. We will certainly be back every time I am in town!

We waited about 15 mins for someone to come and offer us menus or beverages but it seemed as though we had been forgotten. It felt like we were an inconvenience. My husband ended up calling over a waiter and asked if we could order as we had looked up the menu's online. Our waiter, George, was phenomenal! Super kind, apologetic and kept us updated throughout the night. He understood that we were not having the best experience, and was trying his best to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. We had a baby with us so we asked that we be seated away from any hookah, and they really honored that request and made sure nobody near us was smoking. The food was decent, well seasoned and tasty, but nothing mindblowing. Slow to arrive but it seemed like this evening in particular was just a new kind of busy for the restaurant. In any case, I think if you've got time to sit and chat and wait for food and service, you won't feel it as much, but we had a baby, and a group of hungry adults who felt every minute of the waiting. I'd probably come back on a weeknight and try it out again; hoping that we don't get forgotten about by our first waitress.

Interesting their name has "Restaurant" but it's more of a to-go shop than a dine-in place…read more Picking up my food was an interesting experience. No one at the counter. Turns out multiple food shops occupy this location. You'll have to ring the Ring doorbell of the shop you ordered from. Likes: + Yummy food. I liked the variety of flavors and textures in my order. + Pleasant, modern ambience. . The shop will seem like it's in the middle of nowhere, but rest assured, your food is at Ste F. Non-likes: - Somewhat expensive. I don't think the cup of simple-looking lentil soup was worth $6. - Very limited seating. - Inconveniently located in the middle of nowhere. I had: $6 Crushed lentil cup + $19.55 Kafta plate + tax - 1-time ChowNow discount = 24.77

I absolutely love Lebanese food even more so than my native Persian cuisine, so when I heard about…read morean authentic Lebanese spot in Irvine, I knew I had to give it a try. Before you visit, keep these things in mind: 1. This is a ghost kitchen, not a full-service restaurant. It's best for takeout and delivery. There are only a few chairs outside--just four in total. 2. Ordering is entirely self-service via a digital kiosk, with no staff on hand to assist you. 3. There are no bathrooms available anywhere on-site. Regarding the food, it was just okay-- a bit underwhelming, especially given that Lebanese cuisine is typically so flavorful. The chicken was dry, the hummus lacked depth, and the rice was bland. That said, the fattoush salad, one of my favorites, was very good, with a delicious dressing. Overall, I can't say I'd return. The prices were quite high for the portions, and the quality didn't meet my expectations. If you're looking for a quick Lebanese meal, this place is a decent option, but don't expect much more than that.

I can confidently say that Darbari Persian Grill is my all-time favorite spot for Persian cuisine…read more Every single time I come here, it's consistently amazing. My go-to order is the chicken Cornish, and I always substitute the rice for zereshk polo. The rice is perfectly fluffy every time, and the barberries add the most delicious tang that just brings the whole dish together. It's seriously so good. They're also incredibly generous with their lavash bread, which I love because it pairs perfectly with everything. But what really makes this place special is the service. Everyone here is genuinely so kind and attentive, and I mean everyone. You're always greeted when you walk in and again when you leave, which just makes the whole experience feel so warm and welcoming. There's also an older gentleman who is always there with the biggest smile, checking in to make sure everything is perfect, and it never goes unnoticed. I also love that it's pet-friendly. The outdoor seating area with the turf is such a nice touch, and my dog absolutely loves it. Overall, this place is a 10/10 with 1000/10 service. Anytime I'm in the area, I have to stop here without fail.
