Uneventful experience at Thyme Bar. Came for happy hour and we thought the drinks were just ok. Maybe we had higher expectations from what we've heard about the unique cocktails here, but it just seemed quite standard for upscale bars. As for food, we just snacked on the pickle platter and chips with caviar. Both good but also hard to be bad. The place is small and can feel cramped if you're here with a group.

Waste of time. No pun intended. Cute but not worth the hype or wait. And the bubbles drink was not bubbly. Definitely too sweet. Zero service. Bartender was too cool for school. Will not be back.

It is a hidden speakeasy bar with a dark, cozy vibe. You're taken downstairs to a small space with a few tables and bar stools around the bar. I think their menu changes often, which is nice. I ordered a drink without mentioning how sweet I wanted it, so I was a bit nervous but as soon as I took a sip, I said "perfectoo." It was so well-balanced and just right for me. We ordered a second round, and you could really tell they put a lot of love and thought into the drinks and the little details. The bartender was really friendly and even shared some stories behind the drink names. It was a unique and lovely experience.

Beautiful Speakeasy! One of my top favorites in NYC! To start, the ambiance is beyond gorgeous, romantic and sexy. It's a hidden gem that I found walking in the area. You'll be led downstairs in a small area that takes you to the bar. The space is nice, not too loud and others enjoying the one of a kind vibe! I've visited twice within the past few weeks and the bartender staff are incredible, good with recommendations and great at what they do! Cocktails are pricey but it's to be expected with the amount of time and creativity put into each crafted cocktail. The music is right, fitting the scene of the gem in the basement and the culture and vibe.

Came in here for a nightcap - it's been on my list for quite some time as their drinks look so fancy! The service was great - our server was very witty and friendly. We got there too late to eat but had a few drinks -- it was pricey! But worth it for the experience. My favorite was the Agrabah which is the magic genie vessel and was a very good rum cocktail. The salt burn was great as well!

My friend and I had been wanting to come here for about 3 years now to try and do one of the tasting experiences. Our schedules finally lined up and we made our way to Thyme Bar on a weeknight. I believe the tasting menu themes changed and this time it was movie themed. I'd note, this is a small venue at the bottom of Chanson and it's a cozy space. It's perfect for a small, intimate group, but would err on the side of caution for parties of more than 4-5 people. I won't go into too much detail about the tasting experience as I personally think it will take away from it, but I and my friend personally thought it was worth every cent. The service was top notch - my glass never ran dry, they assisted with taking photos, and timed the presentation of each course perfectly. By dessert I felt that I had eaten more than enough food for the evening. Give yourself about 2 hours to truly enjoy every course. We had a fantastic waiter who went through what was in every course in great detail. So if you're reading this and if you're wondering if you should go, this is your sign.

I had Thyme Bar bookmarked since it was a rec from another bartender. My friend and I got there early so no issues with getting a table at the small speakeasy. The drinks were just okay in my opinion. I got the Guilty Pleasure as last resort bc the ones I wanted were crossed off the menu or crafted to serve 4-6 people. The Guilty Pleasure tasted like an extremely boozy and herbally White Russian. Not my favorite. I do appreciate the bartender who's super passionate in mixology. He's great and fun to watch from our table.

I had high expectations for Thyme but my experience fell flat. Thyme Bar is located below the Chanson coffee shop. There is no elevator and the staircase is required to enter. The host tonight was doing the work of 3 people - he was the host, clearing plates and also pouring water. Because of this, we waited a bit to get seated. The host has to go up and down the stairs to seat everyone, in addition to the other activities he was doing. We had a reservation which I recommend because the space is pretty tiny. There is one bathroom available. We sat at the bar, and were served promptly. The most disappointing aspects of this experience were the menu choices. The food options are very limiting, especially if you're a vegetarian. There was mostly seafood based food. We shared house tots and the sunchoke- the only two veggie options available. They were pretty good. The sunchoke had cherry on it which was overpowering. 3 seasonal desserts - we had the chocolate mousse with cherries. The mousse part was ok but overpowered by the tart cherries again. The menu currently online does not match what is being offered in person. I had a drink similar to a White Russian. It was ok but didn't stand out. Overall, I thought the food and drink options were lackluster here. I didn't feel excited by the menu. The graphic design of the menu is busy and kind of distracting to look at. The food section is located in the middle of the menu and that was a bit confusing. Service was good though and the bartenders were happy to offer recommendations. I would consider coming back if the menu was better, but since they don't update the website, it would be hard to know.

Great vibe and good service! But the cocktails were so-so. - Agrabah: 9/10 (loved the magic lamp-esque presentation and the cocktail tasted balanced and good.) - Love & duality: 5/10 (way too woody four our taste.)

Cozy spot that is always has the best drinks. The presentation of each drink is also very unique. Make sure to reserve before you go though, since this place is hard to get in to

Great drink. Nice place for a date night. Small but intimate. You don't have to shout over the music. Service was great.

So Thyme Bar used to be good. This bar was fun and delicious and had this whimsical attitude that made me not mind the price point. NOT ANYMORE. I don't know if there's new management or bartenders, but the thymes, they are a-changing. We ordered the red flag, a play on a Negroni that comes with a premature spurt of white foam that you never get to taste because it's buried in the glass and covered with some abhorrent fruit skin shavings. The That Tracks tasted like they took a Black Russian that had been sitting in the sun and tried to cover the taste with club soda. I would have been happier with a tequila soda Yelp wants me to say what could be improved... maybe bring back the other bartenders/management. I think this picture of my dog perfectly sums up my enthusiasm for this place.

Absolutely love this place! Great speakeasy with very unique, instagram-worthy cocktails. Follow the carpet to enter inside. Came as a party of 2 with no reservation on a Wednesday summer night around 8pm and were able to get seated right away. If you want to do the tasting menu (two cocktails and some combo of savory items and dessert), you have to book at least one day in advance on resy. They don't let you do it as a walk-in (though everything on the tasting menu you can still order a la carte). For drinks, my favorite cocktail of the night was definitely the mojito - a tasty watermelon mint drink that hangs from the ceiling (see photos). They were out of at least two different drinks that night, including the Manhattan, which my friend really wanted so was a little disappointing. For food, we got the oysters and sushi. The oysters were very good and I loved the mignonette it came with. I didn't love the sushi, which was some unique play on sushi with crispy rice and fruit. I didn't even taste the fish. 10/10 recommend.

Nothing wrong with the vibe--it's Times Square, so you already know what you're getting--but it's definitely a one-and-done kind of spot. The drinks are good and super fun, but they're very extra (smoke, presentation, all that), so between that and how packed it gets, it can take a while just to get one cocktail. Didn't try the food. Overall, go for the pics and TikToks--it's perfect for that. I'd recommend checking it out once, but I don't really see it being a repeat spot.

I also got the foreign forage, "a bourbon smash with a mint zing." It was also a delicious take on a classic. They have several types of cocktails, all broken down by spirit and flavor profile. They also offer a lot of spirits made in New York State. They have cocktails with earthy notes, fruity notes, fancy martinis, and a section boasting limited edition and special spirits, if you're "feeling fancy" and wanna cough up 35 bucks instead of 20 or 25! They have a bar snacks menu (sliders, nuts, and the like). I had their thick cut fries and they were light, seasoned, and tasty. I couldn't stop eating them. Midtown or not, I highly recommend this spot, which also has a couple other locations, including Gramercy.

It IS a small bar, but there were only about 4-5 folks here already, engrossed in a conversation at the bar that anyone could join. I quietly took a seat at one of the 3 tables on the plush high-top bench and the lone, friendly bartendress was immediately attentive (I was greeted the moment I stepped through the door!). Now, there's no ACTUAL liquor here, ONLY the beer and wine on the small menu, so don't try asking her to whip you up something not on the menu. Luckily for me, there was a fruity sangria special, so I opted for that, served with a decorative shark adornment and a metal straw, and was immediately given a little bucket of popcorn to accompany it. Now, this is part of the reason why I wanted to check this place out. Fresh popcorn is my weakness. Bars that give free snacks with drinks are top tier in my book. You could probably lure me into the back of a white van with a signature red and white filled popcorn bucket. So I sat, and I sipped, and I munched, and I listened to the conversation from the others, and the bartendress, god bless her, would check on my bucket and refill it any time it got low. Now I'm really a mixed drink girly, but the vibes were SO cool here that I would most definitely come back. :D Also note, there's cool little padded seating by the window that I noticed that would be great for people-watching outside.
