Wonderful to try this again as I had it at the airport one visit. The gentlemen who put together the sandwich was kind and friendly. He even double checked at the end for the sprouts added to the order. The sandwich was delicious with the soft bread and toppings all going together. Had the Californian with sprouts added. Yummy. Even enjoyed a mini tootsie roll pop while waiting for the sandwich to be prepared. Decor was very clean and simple.

I like this place cause they're fast and have a decently good sandwich! I like to add the spicy peppers and they have a pretty good chip selection. My go to for pick up and bring on a boat for a boat day.

If you are looking for a quick picnic meal like we were to eat in the park just grab some sandwiches from Thundercloud and you are set! My absolute favorite is the Turkish Delite. If you love hummus and a fresh sandwich this is the one for you. Make sure to eat it cold. If you are a meat lover the Big Paul is for you. Has allll the meats! I wish I could remember the name of the staff member who helped us, but he was just beyond nice. We had called ahead of time to ask something and he made our sandwiches. He had all the energy and stories to tell. Made for a fun visit.

This was my first time trying Austin's iconic Thundercloud Subs. This might have been unique to the Riverside Thundercloud, but the first thing I noticed was that the interior was lowkey like... dingy. It's a sub shop. No one expects avant garde decor, but even coming in with low expectations it was sub-par (haha, get it?). For one, the order counter is oddly tall and fully wood, so you can't see what they're putting in your sub or the meat/veggie options. The dining area also seemed to function as a storage space, with random stools, kitchen materials, and misc. items cluttering the area. Despite having no patrons in the store they had a line control belt barrier (also called retractable belt barrier stanchions, apparently? The more you know) snaking across the whole front of the restaurant, which felt less like a sub shop and more like you were going through TSA security. The reason for the 3 stars is that the subs were actually pretty solid and the pricing wasn't bad, but the disarray inside really did detract.

I come here every time I'm in Austin. The service is always great and the sub is always delicious. I usually get the New York Italian. It is always good. Next time I will try a different sub

I made a new friend here! My friends were raving about Thundercloud Subs so I had to go see what the hype was about. I picked up an Italian, a meatball, an American, and an Austin sub! My Austin sub was really tasty! I'll definitely be back!

Mounds of avocado and black pepper

Can't see what they're doing to your sandwich bc the counter is too high. Asked for light mustard and he squirted for 10 solid seconds. Asked for no bacon and boom, puts bacon. Asked me if I wanted black pepper, clearly after he had already added, bc contrary to my request there is black pepper on my sandwich. 4 oz of brown avocado to boot.

The bread was so fresh, crispy where it needed to be, and buttery in all the right places. It was a perfectly balanced sandwich ratio, not too thick, not too thin, and came with chips or potato salad. The in-house beer is great, and there's something for anyone's tastes, plus non alcoholic options. We sat outside with our pups on the dog friendly patio, which is fully covered and shaded, with tons of great seating options. I recommend going into the shop and seeing every thing they have to offer that isn't listed on the menu, plus the GREAT beer tap and can selections they have in store!

The parking is shared and gets packed in the evening or you have to pay to park if you are unable to find anything in the lot or on the street. Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.

It was around 2:20 and they close a 3 pm so it wasn't like we were coming in at 5 minutes before closing. When we left, my daughter even said that girl was mean. If you don't like people then maybe find a job where you aren't face to face with customers. Austin certainly has changed. I've been here for over 25 years. I don't know if it's now an East Austin thing to be snooty and treat people rudely, but we went to Lou's Barton Springs last week with our dog and it was completely different experience. They were welcoming and the employees were all super friendly and nice. My daughter and I enjoyed our experience there and never again will we step into Paperboy East and be treated that way. I'd like better experiences for my kid that was born and raised in here Austin and don't want to subject her to places where we will be treated badly. BTW The right thing to have done is smile, say "good afternoon, I'm sorry but we are at full capacity. Thank you for coming I and please try us another time." It's really not hard. It's called human decency.
