I've only had thunderclouds once before and I will say i was disappointed with the bread! It was pretty hard but I think it might have been closer to end of day.. Because this time around the bread was good!! I got the Paul & it was yummy! They def don't hold out on the amount of meat they put on the sandwich which is a plus! They did overkill on the mustard a bit but it was still editable! Glad I gave them a second chance & will be going back!

If you're looking for a inexpensive and simple meal, Thundercloud Subs checks those boxes. Came here over the weekend to pick up lunch to go. Ordered the Veggie Delite and Nada Chicken subs. I appreciate the options for vegetarians and vegans. Overall both sandwiches were perfectly fine - not spectacular, but not terrible either. The sprouts on the Veggie Delite definitely are a nice touch though. For the price, it's not a bad deal in terms of quality and portion size. The shop is small and on the older side, but don't let that stop you from coming in. Although there's about 5 tables inside so it seems like this location caters more to to-go orders. There's a small parking lot, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot. There's also a drive-thru which is interesting, but I haven't used it.

I was appointment-hopping on North Lamar and needed a bite to eat before a semi-long drive. I'm always hesitant to grab Thundercloud because of my strange Subway obsession (yes, I know). Burnet Road was nearby and has a handy drive-thru, so I decided I needed to give it another go. The service was quick, and the location is convenient for North-Central Austinites, but the sub was so-so. I tried the Veggie Delite this time and was turned off immediately by the avocado-cream cheese overload. Sprouts were everywhere - on the car seat, in the cream cheese, in my teeth. I wish I didn't feel so guilty about my mediocre feelings toward an Austin institution, but there it is, folks. I believe you when you say the meats, cheeses and produce are sliced daily. I believe you when you say you make the dressings from scratch. But I also believe my taste buds and they just aren't jumping for joy. Thundercloud and Lightning.

Had not been to this restaurant in a good while, and was a last minute decision. Good choice. The whipped feta is always a treat -- light and creamy with a solid feta taste, but not overpowering, served with a few orange slices and thinly sliced almonds, and pita. Special dish! Beet salad excellent, but the Fresno peppers had way too much heat, so pushed them to side. My wife had the Moroccan curry, which had a very spot on Moroccan flavor (been there 3x), and was a large, filling portion so brought home leftovers. I had the grilled pork chop which was large, perfectly grill with a tasty bourbon-based glaze, served with a large roasted garlic clove. Wonderful dish. My wife had a white wine that she enjoyed and my martini, slightly dirty with olives (to start) was a large pour and very smooth. Enjoyable meal in a nice setting once again ...

This place is so intoxicating from the aqua blue color palate and funky green art work to the alluring lighting and huge metal plate (looks like something from a ship...also their logo). My brother said the green artwork looked like broccoli. My brother ordered the Idaho trout with coconut rice and Brussel sprouts. I sampled his food and it was all good. The standout was the Brussel sprouts...crispy with this absolutely delicious drizzle. I ordered the Mezze plate with a flavor explosion and many desirable texture. It had lamb kabobs, fresh salad (emphasis on fresh) with thinly sliced cucumbers, finely sliced onions and creamy feta (never had creamy feta), red round sweet peppers, hummus with the most delightful pesto like sauce, and olives. Oh my...what a delicious lunch! Morgan, our server, was attentive and accomodating. She moved us to another table when we notice our table was rocking a little. Great catching up with my brother and excellent meal!

We ended up ordering 2 drinks. 2 small bites and 2 unusual banh mi's. The drinks were good, then we got the small bites. Mango salad and shrimp skewers. we got the salad first which had a horrible flavor that neither me or my boyfriend could do, so we set it aside. we did eat the crackers that came with it. it was good. Then we got the shrimp skewers, which came and looked black. We decided to give it a try anyways, it was horribly overcooked. like rubber wouldn't even describe it. so we didn't eat it either. i ate the cucumbers that came with it which were good. We finally got the banh mi's which were ok we ate it but nothing special. Then came the time when server came to ask if we're ready for check. We ended up mentioning that we hated the salad and the shrimp. still untouched on the table. she said to give her a moment. and we sat and waited for 10 minutes. while they were talking about us and them saying "they did touch the shrimp" (yes we took 2 bites to try it obviously, then we didn't touch it afterwards) finally after 10 minutes they bring us the check. which they didn't take anything off of. so we paid $70 for 2 banh mis. left hungry with a horrible experience. We were still thinking of coming back just to grab some drinks cause they looked good. but after voicing our complaints, then those complaints ignored. Never again. Horrible.

***SMOOTHIE ONLY REVIEW***…read more I'll be honest, Yelp: I most sincerely had reservations about The Soup Peddler. Reason: The menu reads sort of average and practical. Why buy stuff I could make at home? When I spend money, I'm paying for a hit of culture and flavor. This economy is crazy. You've gotta choose wisely. I can save money and do average at home. HOWEVER, I was on a mission for a real pineapple and kale smoothie, and Austin has been inconsistent with this. Juice-Land makes mistakes with substitutions (they don't have it on the menu) and Smoothie King is an "all over the place" expensive hot mess caught up in a boycott, so here I found myself. I ordered the Tropicalia (24 oz): mango, banana, pineapple juice, lemon, kale, spirulina. Solid lineup. But I don't like juice substitutions when you can have real fruit, so my *ONE ASK* was to please add real pineapple on top of everything. Add actual pineapple, not just juice. They said yes!!! No extra charge. And that's where everything changed. This tasted CRAFTED. This tasted INTENTIONAL. Winner. WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER. This is easily the BEST smoothie I've had in Austin. That I've had ever. Ok, Erewhon in LA has been the best. But this was fresh, bright, and clean. Sweet without tipping into sugar overload. The pineapple flavor popped and was balanced by the earthiness of the kale and spirulina so it felt refined and it didn't feel like a juice bomb. Perfecto. Service was straightforward. Pleasant and efficient, not over the top. It works. But the point is I came in skeptical and I left planning my next visit. I want to try everything. If this smoothie delivered then I have high hopes for the rest of the menu. Forgive my doubts.
