Came back because I had a gig over near this location. My smoothies are always ready before I arrive, and always handed to me with a smile. This location is particularly colorful. It has a slightly different feel because of the two-entrance structure and long/narrow shape in its little strip-center nook, but still has the same charm JuiceLand always delivers. Always good. Always reliable. I have yet to find a bad JuiceLand location.

So I used to really dislike Juiceland for personal reasons that I won't get into. But I think they've officially won me over. Now, I love popping into a Juiceland location and ordering a refreshing smoothie. They use real, fresh ingredients in every drink. That might explain why prices are steep ($5 for the cheapest drink). Friendly staff and quick service. I had the Hawaii Five green smoothie (pineapple, mango, lemon, spirulina). Pretty good, but it was a bit too acidic for my taste. I think they need another type of fruit in there to cut the acidity. I'll stick to other drinks when I return.

4 shots at 2 oz each. Dr. Doctor and Blue Dream.

***SMOOTHIE ONLY REVIEW***…read more I'll be honest, Yelp: I most sincerely had reservations about The Soup Peddler. Reason: The menu reads sort of average and practical. Why buy stuff I could make at home? When I spend money, I'm paying for a hit of culture and flavor. This economy is crazy. You've gotta choose wisely. I can save money and do average at home. HOWEVER, I was on a mission for a real pineapple and kale smoothie, and Austin has been inconsistent with this. Juice-Land makes mistakes with substitutions (they don't have it on the menu) and Smoothie King is an "all over the place" expensive hot mess caught up in a boycott, so here I found myself. I ordered the Tropicalia (24 oz): mango, banana, pineapple juice, lemon, kale, spirulina. Solid lineup. But I don't like juice substitutions when you can have real fruit, so my *ONE ASK* was to please add real pineapple on top of everything. Add actual pineapple, not just juice. They said yes!!! No extra charge. And that's where everything changed. This tasted CRAFTED. This tasted INTENTIONAL. Winner. WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER. This is easily the BEST smoothie I've had in Austin. That I've had ever. Ok, Erewhon in LA has been the best. But this was fresh, bright, and clean. Sweet without tipping into sugar overload. The pineapple flavor popped and was balanced by the earthiness of the kale and spirulina so it felt refined and it didn't feel like a juice bomb. Perfecto. Service was straightforward. Pleasant and efficient, not over the top. It works. But the point is I came in skeptical and I left planning my next visit. I want to try everything. If this smoothie delivered then I have high hopes for the rest of the menu. Forgive my doubts.

They have a small selection of soups but if you want a smoothie this is your place. The sandwiches are overpriced, tasteless and are a basic grilled cheese for $7. The cream ratio is perfect and the tea is actually steeped. I'm still working my way through the menu, but my current obsession: the Fire Phoenix--a smoky oolong tea that's unlike anything else I've tried. The only change I would note: dial down the sweetness. PARKING: Since Milk+Tea is located in the Crescent Shopping Center, expect hell in the form of parking. While they offer a convenient drive-thru, it can either be a blessing or a nightmare for those ordering in. ATMOSPHERE: You'll find groups of friends hanging out, students studying, and people trying to get sh-- done. I don't know how it works with an assortment of groups into one space, but somehow it does.

I am looking for creaminess with great tea flavor and this delivered. Some places have great tea flavor but don't deliver on the creamy texture and at that point, why did I order a milk tea. The one aspect that really surprised me was the consistency of the boba. On the day of, boba was chewy and bouncy. I didn't want to chug the drink at the end of the night so I put it in the fridge. To my surprise, the boba was still chewy the next day! Most boba would have hardened. Awesome place, will visit again.

The setup seems to be similar to other soup peddlers with seating: metallic tabletops that always seem to be clean, dedicated recycling and composting bins, a high countertop divider, with an ordering kiosk near the front, and some coolers and fridges, as well as a heating rack to keep pickup orders warm. Kitchen and smoothie room in the back. The staff running this place are quite nice. The choice of artwork adorning the walls appears to be different from other Soup Peddlers. What's good about Soup Peddler? Despite their name, I prefer their smoothies over their soups. Their soups are prepared offsite and delivered in the morning to all Soup Peddler locations. Thus, no location is aware or can predict what will be on their menu for soup specials each day through the week. However, other than their daily specials, they usually have a set soup menu. Their soups are served in a paper cup, and you can get crackers and oyster crackers with them. They also offer grilled cheese sandwiches. Those sandwiches are, well, pretty small and simple. I've had their Apple-Muenster Grilled Cheese, no complaints. Don't expect to be filled up on that though. Again, smoothies are where it's at. They offer monthly smoothie specials, discounted daily smoothie specials, and staff favorite creations. Of course, you can always create and customize your own. I tend to get their matcha, turmeric, or banana and nut based smoothies. Any sweetness is obtained from their fruits used, but sometimes date syrup is used as an ingredient. Anyways, smoothies are yum, and that's why I keep coming back.

And our teas were not very good. The taro tasted like pure cream and there were so many tapioca balls at the bottom of the cup that it felt like you were mainlining gummies into your digestive tract. The mango flavor was cloying, and the "traditional" ice tea coconut was too strong. The price point seemed high for the quality. Maybe because our first true boba experience was at Teapioca in the Arboretum and that determined our pallet about bubble teas, but we just cannot find another place that we like as much as there. Oh well, we tried.

However, I was extremely surprised by how decent the boba was here! This spot is located between the Ranch 99 (sorry for you 99 Ranch people) bakery and hot deli. Ice and sugar levels can be adjusted. They take your card to pay on their side between a plexiglass screen and then will ask if you'd like to tip. I'm conflicted in these scenarios because it's a simple counter store with no actual service and the seating is from Ranch 99. At other boba spots, there'll be wifi and seating from the actual store but this is a simple window shop. Obviously tipping is "optional" but tipping culture has been blown out of proportion so I've accepted that a default tip is something to include on any purchase when eating out and this is worsened when they hold the iPad and stare at you. Classic Milk Tea w/ Boba - first of all, boba is one of the best in the area for sure. It's chewy with a strong flavor, so it's marinated well. Classic milk tea is a simple black milk tea leaning away from the tea. The balance definitely is in favor of the creamer used. While the tea itself was nothing to write home about, the boba was fantastic and the overall boba is well made.
