    Their nirvana shirt for $17.99
    chloe c.

This block used to have my favorite thrift stores, I can no longer afford to thrift. The "put backs" with stains on them start at $4, totally outrageous for donated clothing. The $18 Walmart nirvana shirts up front are unbelievable.. I'll just buy them new at that point or online for less. I understand if rent has increased for these places, but it's just so wrong to be charging on average $6-$7 for donated stuff. We need to stop donating and just do swap meets if stores are going to upcharge us for our own sweat stained items. Employees themselves are lovely. It's just corporate greed, as always.

Its a fun place with good prices but like any thrift store, you gotta dig to find the gems and some trips are just better than others! there's fitting rooms but bathrooms were out of order when we went :-( organized by size AND color which I appreciated!

Fabric found at store (over the course of several months)

Best place to find low price second hand fabric AND sheets and blankets. I've stopped here many times on a whim just to browse and have been completely stunned that I've bought something every time. Don't want to leave the store sometimes because of my luck!!

1/4 to 1/3 of the store: Women's (? Shoes too?). There's much more at Thrift Town!

"Dragged" my 12 & 14 yr old boys with me - for them: "fill in the gaps" of wardrobe needs for their camp week; for me: I've gotten fat, not much fits, don't exactly want to invest in a larger-sized wardrobe (denial? Lol), but we have a big trip coming soon. Also, we came here after going to Thrift Land (Stassney/S. 1st). This review is for Thrift Town, but the comparison is note-worthy (refer to my other post). Shopping excursion was Wednesday 7/17/19, 3:30-5:30pm including both places. Thrift Town (this review): Few customers. Spacious & wide aisles. Few employees (noted a "now hiring" sign), but they were pleasant & friendly. Minimal wait to access dressing rooms (did have to ask those standing nearby if I needed assist with access - no problem). A short wait at checkout - the same person that scurried by me several times checking/rehanging items addressed us as cashier. Color-coded items: yes. SIZE delineations, yes. DRESSING ROOMS (6!) AND restrooms! Payments: Accepts cash AND credit/debit cards. Daily sale items (color of tag). "Rewards" program, if you're a member (easily sign up). My younger son SCORED on near-new Merrell all-terrain sandals for $8 (retail: $25-30). Older son's purchases reflected Goodwill's prices (higher than expected, but decent quality), but found a high-quality zip-up Nike sweatshirt and awesome shorts (we both thought they were swim trunks & he'll likely use them for this - meanwhile, he's wearing them as shorts). I got a few tops and some "active wear" (appreciated a separate section delineating this!). Having been to another thrift store prior to this: We appreciated this experience more (less people, nice environment, nice folks, dressing rooms), however the $ was 3x more. Hm. I'll likely update these posts since I couldn't try on what I got at the other place before I bought them! (But regardless, less $ spent there vs here). .

Man, I already thought that Goodwill had OK prices for most of the stuff they sold, but this beats it by a longshot!

The worst part was how rude their customer service is. My 2.5 year old is deaf/hard of hearing and took off her hearing aid in the store. My husband put it in what he thought was our cart. When we realized he had misplaced her hearing aid, I went back inside to look for it. I asked one of the stockers to help and they ignored me. I then went to the front to ask for help and was told that I would need to look in the carts myself. I told the lady that my daughter needs the hearing aid to hear and they are very expensive but she blew me off again and told me to look myself. I then told her I had spent $60 in the store and that they were $12,000 and asked if she would please help me. She told me " not with that attitude I can't." She then forced me to take a breath and continued to berate me about my attitude after she had refused to help me. She finally did make an announcement and someone came forward with the hearing aid. I'll never go back to this store and would never recommend it to anyone.

As one of yelper has already pointed out, there's usually some derelict with his hand out at the front door. About 75% of the store is given over to clothing with everything else around the perimeter. The prices here seem pretty much in line with your average Goodwill, although some seem higher. They do have a lot of kids toys and furniture. This business is primarily geared towards clothing, and this is a cash operation only, but they do have an ATM, which will happily charge you a fee. It's worth a look around, and maybe the photos included will get you through the door.

Second Looks is clearly his baby: he's not just an attentive consultant, responding to your preferences on house, material, and tailoring (thankfully, he is not hesitant to offer his excellent suggestions on fit and styling), he's also a gentleman and a scholar, eager to share his considerable knowledge about the history of menswear, soul music, and rodeo, having been a cowboy himself before working in radio and taking over Second Looks. Michael's selection is fantastic. he showed me suits and separates from Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece, Drake's, Canali, and local Austin bespoke tailors Capra and Cavelli. He's got Allen Edmonds shoes and a great collection of belts, which seem to go very quickly. I didn't peruse his selection of casualwear, but it seemed just as well-curated and complete as his formal sections. I walked out with a Golden Fleece jacket and alligator belt having spent about $115--he gave me the educator discount. I couldn't have asked for better value. Having lived in Boston, Cleveland, Charleston, SC, Eugene, OR, Granada, Spain, and Norwich, England, I've never been so impressed by a menswear shop, let alone a secondhand store, or by its owner. This place bills itself as a thrift store, but the prices are more in line with what you'd see in a consignment store. The aisles are very narrow in order to accommodate all the merchandise. They definitely have some collectible items, including some vintage stereo stuff. Inside you'll also find appliances, toys, furniture, tons of clothes, home decor, drum sets and electronics. They do offer sale prices on certain color tags which are likely the items that have been sitting around for a while. About half the space is given over to clothing and accessories, you'll also find three dressing rooms to try them on. This business doesn't just accept donations, they will purchase them as well. This thrift store carries a higher quality number of goods by far than your average Goodwill, but then again they are priced higher. Plenty of photos to peak your interest below.
