Treasure City Thrift recently moved into my neighborhood, so I finally stopped in to see what it was all about. On my first visit, I noticed they had a nice mix of clothing, shoes, glassware, and home décor, so I came back this weekend hoping to browse the clothing racks. I struck out on clothes this time around--not because they didn't have any, just because nothing in my size was quite my style, condition, or price point. That's thrifting, though. You never know what you're going to find, and sometimes the best score is in a completely different aisle. In my case, I walked out with a pair of vintage shoes in excellent condition for only $5, plus several beautiful glass pieces for next to nothing. I'd call that a successful trip! When I drove by on Sunday, they had boxes and boxes of free items out front with people happily digging through them. It was way too hot for me to join the hunt, but once the Texas weather cools off, I definitely will. This feels like one of those thrift stores that's worth stopping into regularly because the inventory is always changing, and you never know what treasure you'll find next. read more

This thrift store sits on E. 7th St. in old brick building with old ceiling tiles hanging a couple feet over your head. Stepping through the door is like visiting a hoarder's house who made a feeble attempt in trying to create a thrift store. There's a lot of clothes here and they seem to be in line with what Goodwill would price them at. This is a one to two star business, but I'll add a star since they do make an effort to help the homeless. You're more likely to walk out of here empty-handed then to find some small treasure here. There's enough parking out front and you can grab a free condom on your way out. read more

Oh how I love a good thrift store. This one fit the bill. I normally look for household items, gardening tools, utility items, pictures or cute serving dishes. Today I'm looking for curtains for a friend... exactly the kind that hide light and sound. So, you understand something very durable. Guess what??? I found them here. Bee and willow curtains panels that cost normally $49 and upwards for a panel. Today I found two curtain panels in the color I needed for just $7 and when I rung out they were half off. Thank God for favor! I have it where ever I go and yes I had alittle shout in the store... two panels for $7! You can't loose. I left super excited to wash and iron the curtains and on to putting them up. They look wonderful and my friend was finally sold in me getting the job done for less than a reasonable price. I don't know what you are looking for but this is a cool spot to thrift!! read more

It is a secondhand store why you should pay a higher price for something that is already used when you can plan maybe $3 or $5 more for a brand new one, whatever it may be This place is too crowded not much Spain to walk around read more

I absolutely love treasure city thrift! They have a great selection of clothing and home goods. They do not have dressing rooms so it's best to wear something comfortable as you can try on outfits and they have mirrors. I was able to get several lovely blouses for work and they were only five dollars each. They were super friendly there and it is an all inclusive loving environment. read more

Thrifting is my hobby, so I was super excited when I decided to make the trek here. Boy was I disappointed. The book choices were very scarce and cheaper at the Goodwill. The electronics section looked like a 1985 Radio Shack. And the clothes were way overpriced for what they were. I just left this store after my first visit - the girl at the counter ADDED A 1 IN FRONT OF THE 7 on the tag of a pair of vintage Levi's jeans I bought. It was very obvious, but they were closing & it's my birthday & I didn't want to ruin it by calling her out & making a whole big thing of it. But I want her to know that I know what she did. We can't ever get seem to get through a city without stopping at thrift store and sifting through that cities discarded junk. Luckily we stopped. J found a treasure which posed an interesting time through security, but thankfully we made it through without any real major hiccups. His find was just cumbersome and big. The gals working there were very friendly, outgoing and helpful. Reminded me of an Ax-Man in MN meets a thrfit store. There's a picture of John Stamos welcoming you into the store. They have .25 cent sales on things on certain days and they give funds to help support books for prisoners which is cool. read more

There are not enough authentically "thrifty" thrift stores nowadays. But that's not the case here... And especially if you are hitting this place up during their monthly 25c days! Treasure City was definitely bountiful when I arrived for my first 25c day on 3/17/18. People were waiting outside of the store since 10:30am, so that's when you know the deals are worth. You can see people from all walks of life, but since this shop is located in a less established part of town, a lot of homeless and drunkards hang around here. One guy was tripping off his ass that he kept leaning and freaking FALLING on top of my bf's car which ofc annoyed us. Beware of these idiots if you come by, and do NOT leave valuables in your vehicle when parked. Back to the treasure hunt. My advice is to bring either a pillow case, huge reusable bag, or pay 50c for one of the store's reusable bags to carry all of the clothes you will find. Once you enter, you will see a ton of plastic cartons full of disorganized chaos. This chaos will consist of baby, kids, juniors, men's, and women's clothing of all kinds. Except underwear, lol. Surprisingly, the selection was way better than expected; I found some high-end brands (Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Free People, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel) as well as the typical affordable labels (H&M, Zara, Gap, F21). Don't have a closed mind, since these pieces are literally only a whopping 25 cents each haha. I was quite liberal in my choices, dragging my heavy bag of 40 items to pay a hefty $10.01. My inner frugal Asian is prouder than she's ever been. I know that this establishment also has Free Days too at the end of each month, for if you really need some clothing, books, music, or whatever commodity free of charge. I really respect this place because they cater towards the local community and people of all socioeconomic groups. They stand for social justice and it really shows in their store music preferences and the people that frequent here. I can't wait to come back and keep supporting this business! read more

I really appreciate that Treasure City is still requiring masks. It's not a big ask, but most places seem to have given up entirely.

The times I come here is always around their 25 cent sale. What is that you ask? It is a one day sale where Treasure City Thrift puts out huge bins of clothing, accessories, and the like in the middle of their sale floor. They usually announce the date a week in advanced on their social media handles. Basically you then show up with your own (large) bag(s) and start pulling and looking at what they have put out in those big ole' bins that is all priced at 25 cents. Pretty neat bargain for what it is worth. I have scored some really cool items like vintage cardigans with hand sewn rhinestones on it, cute tops, and some really cool skirts too throughout the years. Few things to note on 25 cent sale day: - make sure to get their early so you can find the coolest of the cool things - be sure to read / understand all the signs and areas that are eligible for 25 cent sale as this can be tricky if you are not careful - parking might be a challenge but if you get there early you can park along the street near the convenience store next door - bring cash if you can but they do take card at the register - be ready to present all that you found at the checkout counter as they are going to look through each item you found I have had great experiences when I come to TCT for these sales as they are a good bargain and have cool findings. This last time around I brought some friends along for their first 25 cent sale bargain hunting. It was a little disappointing as one of my friends ended up having half of the items she found in the bins tossed out by the check out counter lady who was going through the items. Both her and the cashier were pretty rude by laughing at my friend at some of the items she legitimately found in the bins. One item my friend found & wanted to purchase was a beanie with the TCT logo that had seen better days. The cashier laughed when she saw it and said that it was an expensive name brand beanie that she had personally donated and was X amount of money and there was "no way" my friend found this in a 25 cent bin. The cashier tossed it to the side with no option for my friend to even consider buying it. It was a weird response from the cashier and checker that I felt bad and embarrassed that this had to happen for my friends first 25 cent bin sale. We ended up walking out with some cool things but the response just didn't sit well with me in the end. There is plenty to find and look around here otherwise and will continue to come back whenever I am in the area and/or the next sale. read more

What a gem! I just happened to be driving down 7th and caught this place out of the corner of my eye. So glad I stopped! Most thrift stores in Austin, including Goodwill, are insanely overpriced and this place is just right. Found 4 tops, a pair of jeans, an awesome leather envelope clutch, and a bowl that matches what I currently have, all for $30! I'll definitely be coming back. No dressing rooms but I was able to take jeans to car to try on. read more

FIVE SOLID STARS!! This place is a treasure hunt! The good kind. Awesome knee length full black pleated skirt ($15), lone star beer sun glasses ($2, perfect condition) and a copy of a book I'd been looking for ($3). Can't beet that. Everything from vintage to modern. Formal dresses to summer dresses. Don't let the exterior fool you. This place is a can't miss. The service was warm and caring. 10/10 will splurge (?!?) again!!! read more

Very visible pink store front, as you walk in the store it seems very small however they have a large selection of goodies at really great prices (cheaper than goodwill). During this month of October, they'll be having dollar days and 25 cent day promotions and today was my first visit and I purchased five dresses( 3 of them were brand new with tags), a dress shirt, a pair of Jean's, a Halloween mask, and a rustic home decor piece for 30 dollars. I'll definitely come back for more treasures. read more

Treasure City Thrift is a gold mine! I have been in here twice now and every time I walk out with great treasures. I also see the joy on others faces as they shop and discover their new treasure too! I was shopping in here the other day and walked around the corner and saw this lady with a hair dryer or vacuum thing on her head. I honestly have no idea what it was, but she was testing it out and rocking it! It was something clearly from the 60s or 70s (before my time). Then I saw this dude who was trying on a bunch of bad-ass clothes and he had found the camo jacket, but it was sewn oddly and he was asking questions about how it works. I think he ended up getting it discounted and suggestions on how to rock it out! I was in here hunting for some tea cups or small mugs for my wedding stuff and I found these adorable little fruit loop mugs plus some other cool tea cups. When I went to check out they were all 50 cents each! Yeah - not bad at all! Most other thrift stores they have been about 99 cents each. This store is a bit smaller than the other thrift stores like goodwill or thrift town, but I think you are more likely to find some pretty awesome treasures here! At least that has been my experience and the others I have observed. So stop in the pink building and check it out! read more

I love Treasure City Thrift Store. Full disclosure: I love it so much I volunteer here an extraordinary amount. The clothes are great, I'd say the selection of dress shirts is the best. That and the book collection, which is top notch, intellectually stimulating and well curated. It is the CHEAPEST thrift store in the city, by far, and special sales and 25 cent sales occur frequently. To top it off, this local business helps the community and hosts important events for community members, such as activism workshops! You may even meet an activist celebrity or two here! There are also fun projects, such as screen printing, public art, and fashion shows, so keep your eyes peeled for some really unique and exciting opportunities to see the Eastside bloom. read more

On the smaller side for a thrift store so they don't have a *massive* selection, but I've found cool stuff here every single time and always with fair prices, usually lower than Goodwill. They have so many deals and sales as well. I've gone to a couple of their recent outdoor sales (which were amply stocked with hand sanitizer and very spaced out) and found some treasures. The main reason I like to support them over other stores is their mission; they do a lot of work with and donate to local organizations, helping the homeless, refugees and immigrants, donating books to prisons, and more. So spending money here helps this cause and goes back into the community, which is definitely something I can support! read more

I love this place! Used to drive past it all the time on my way to work and school. Decided to stop in one day to check it out and was so glad I did. Was a little skeptical at first because I had looked at their website (which was a bit outdated). But never judge a book by its cover! The first time I went, I found a few fun knickknacks. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular that day, just decided to peruse the shop and see what was inside. I've gone back a handful of times since then. And I've been able to find some amazing things! They surprisingly have a big selection of higher end brands (Levi, Urban Outfitters, Calvin Klein, J. Crew....) and lots of "cheaper" brands (like H&M, Forever 21, etc) available in every article of clothing. So far I've collected numerous pairs of very nice jeans and jean skirts from brands like Levi's, Miss Me, Calvin Klein and J. Crew. All of them for just $5 I also found a killer jacket from J. Crew for just $6 and a Columbia fleece vest for only $4 Also bought a bunch of cute tops and dresses that were H&M (tops are usually $3 and dresses are $4-$5) Everything in this store is so cheap and if you really want to get your money's worth I suggest going when you have lots of time. I guarantee that you'll find something, you just gotta go rack by rack just like any other store you'd go to Plus, the atmosphere here is really nice. Came here for some warm clothes for SXSW, it's freezing in Austin. I was able to buy a beanie for $2, scarf $2, glass water canteens $2 (really excited about both of them) , my boyfriend got some coats, and I got a shirt for $3 bucks. Treasure City Thrift is a treasure trove. This small, boutique thrift store is a great place to find some cool, funky garb or knick knacks for the homestead. Since they are donation-based their inventory flexes, but they also curate their items, so it's not as hot or miss as Goodwill. One thing I truly respect about this place are their prices. They don't gouge prices for slightly expensive brands like the aforementioned conglomerate. They keep it real and there are true bargains to be found here. While parking can be tough since they only have a small lot, if you're lucky enough to snag a spot stop in and see what a real thrift store is made of. read more

They had an okay selection of used clothes (most of them VERY loved) and housewares. Be careful when looking at the rack next to the register, you'll get yelled at for looking at unpriced clothes. The woman at the register must've been in a bad mood because when my partner came back just to look at the size of a sweatshirt to see if it'd be worth waiting for it to be priced, she snapped at him and said she'd prefer he didn't even look at them. This is a rare find - a thrift store that's actually cheap! It's like shopping at a smaller goodwill. There's less stuff, but it's organized really well. I was a fan of the plus size women's being on its own rack. Sometimes I'm swimming in a sea of smalls and it gets old. The selection was on par with the cost, and they had some knick knacks and records as well. read more
