What can I say about the APA? I get literally 90% of my clothing here. The staff is always friendly, the finds are incredible and they're always running 50% off sales. Plus, you can earn rewards for every dollar you spend!! Anddd it all goes to helping the pets Oltorf is crowded but I usually find the most stuff here and there's Princess Peaches . I went to Austin for a work conference and knew I had to get out into the thrift scene! This place was recommended and it honestly didn't disappoint. It was refreshing to be able to thrift out of town and it not be overly saturated with resalers. As a person who loves the act of thrifting, this store was great! It had something for everyone (including pets!) and was very well organized. The boutique pricing was super reasonable and the clothes were reasonably priced. The store was clean and very easy to maneuver around. It was reallllyy well put together and I really appreciated that. The quality of the items they had was impeccable! I even saw a pair of Givenchy earrings for $70!!!! I snagged an amazing pair of jeans, name brand slip dress and other finds! They also have 2 other locations! Definitely a must go! read more

Just 100 yards from Lamar Boulevard down Oltorf heading towards the tracks you'll find this thrift store tucked into an old building. Inside things are fairly neatly arranged into their respective categories. More than half of the store is given over to clothing, but they also feature much of the same stuff you would find at your local Goodwill. Their pricing seems to be higher than your local Goodwill, but the quality of the offerings are a little better. They also have a sister store near 51st and Airport. read more

Thrifting plus supporting a good cause? Win win!! They have a good selection that is separated with more of the boutique/fancier items up front. It's definitely more of a clothing/shoes/accessories spot but you can also find some fun home goods and books. This is also where I found a cone my dog needed for an eye infection! I love that you can donate pet items here because goodness knows I can't resist buying toys and such for my dog who then decides he has zero interest in them after one sniff. Lols. Logistics: There is a small parking lot up front that you can use. Otherwise, I've parked at the CVS nearby and just bought a drink if the lot was full and walked over because I am terrible at parallel parking - but that is technically not the best thing to do so, so do at your own risk! read more

This is my go to to donate to. I've dropped off things to both the north and south location. They both have great finds from clothes to household items. To drop items off, you come inside and they have a big bin to place your things. The staff is super friendly and helpful but still give you time to browse. To me it's better quality stuff than other thrift stores. The profits go to help care for the shelter dogs and cats. Also I've dropped off things to the actual Austin Pets Alive! like sheets and towels, totes, leashes, pet food type donations. It's my favorite Austin charity to donate to and give love towards because I know it's for a good cause. The store doesn't smell musty or old, so things seem clean and cared for. If you're looking to go thrifting, this is the place. read more

Good treasure hunt thrift store- you may find a gem, but you'll have to dig. My favorite kind! They have the store organized into boutique, which has nicer brands, and then generic, which has your forever 21s and target brands. It's a pretty small shop and will take you less than an hour to sort through. The staff were all really friendly and chatty. It's very dog friendly and many shoppers had their pups with them. It's definitely really cluttered and not a high end thrift store, it's a treasure hunt. I left empty handed but see definite potential. The only thing is the prices are a bit high for what you get- they do have dollar days and such, but a used forever 21 shirt from 2014 should definitely be less than $6 in my opinion. read more

What a sad experience. I suppose thrift stores are hit or miss but this one was definitely a miss. I am writing an honest review and I am the person that travels to many thrift stores because it's so fun to buy and even just look around to see what you find. First, I would like to say that I do not know too much about the organization but I hear it's for the animals and any time I can support these beautiful, intuitive creatures with a kind heart, I will. So I hopped on a bus for 45 minutes to visit. Prices were high here for what it was, the clothing was not even anything special - even in the "designer boutique" corner. Some of the jewelry was nicer in the casing but I saw some vintage beads that said "$20 vintage" but if you are going to sell that, well, what type of beads are they? $20 for this thrift store I think is a hefty price tag. I really liked this hair clip that used to be sold at the dollar tree but they didn't have it anymore. The clip was very tiny and I had asked the cost. The cost was $3 and I had asked if he could do any better (I didn't mention dollar tree) and the gentleman behind the counter said that he was sorry, and prices are the way they are accordingly. Ok, I respect that but I probably would have purchased a lot more here. I did put down two items after that. They had some sneakers that were Nike priced at $40. Very used and I was sticker shocked. I didn't want them but I was just looking at the prices in this shop. All the items just seemed to be thrown in places. Maybe it was just the day we went but it wasn't anything great to write home about. read more

The south location of the APA Thrift store has a somewhat larger space than their north store, and it's chock-full of clothing, housewares, wall art, knick knacks, and other goodies. All net proceeds benefit the no-kill shelter, Austin Pets Alive. And the prices are super reasonable, because it's a non-profit, staffed by volunteers. So this is my new favorite donation place for my nicest stuff, which I'd normally try to sell or give to a friend. I just dropped off a big load today. If you want to help Austin's homeless animals and free yourself of some of that extra stuff taking up space in your house (thanks, Marie Kondo!), this is a good place to do it. They need more upscale donations, all you Junior League ladies! And if you're thrifting, this is a great place to scout out. The inventory moves quickly. read more

Found some great deals at this thrift store. Lots of great items to choose from. There are large fitting rooms in the back. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and the parking lot was packed. The items that I ended up purchasing are: - Gray Merona Target Turtleneck $5 - Navy L.L. Bean Sweater $5 - Black Ann Taylor Cardigan $5 What was great was all the prices were unbelievable. Almost felt like all items were close to free. All the sweaters and cardigans were a flat $5 each. A lot of other clothing were like that as well. There is another section at the entrance by checkout that were higher end items such as luxury brands like Tory Burch that were priced a bit more which is understandable. Everything is in great condition. Upon checking out, they had a bin full of new and free boiled egg slicers. Can't wait to stop by this thrift store again. Lots of great finds and brands. I'm surprised. They also don't tag their clothing which makes for less waste! read more

Shopping at APA Thrift is THE BEST. It's a win win. Great deals for you, shopping for secondhand items is great for the environment, and most importantly, all net proceeds go directly to support the wonderful organization that is Austin Pets Alive! You can find some unreal deals at APA Thrift, and their product selection is extremely well curated. I found a 1996 model white Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer at this store with all original attachments, in excellent working condition for $59!!! I also purchased an entire winter wardrobe for $60. Including boots, sweaters, and soooo many tops. This Oltorf location is extremely well organized. They have a great little boutique section for women so be sure to check that out. I make it a point to donate all of my best clothing and housewares to APA Thrift instead of trying to sell on Poshmark, Ebay, etc. The animals are worth it. When you shop here, remember the greater purpose behind this store and consider adding on a little extra $ at checkout for the animals. I had a big problem here. I bought a TV and was told it had been plugged in to check it. But it hadn't. It was obviously broken after I had bought the right cord. I took it back, albeit after the 7 days it said on the receipt. Within 2 weeks. The mgr. didn't want to do anything about it. Tough luck she said, in so many words. I had to fight a battle with her to get full store credit. She didn't have any concept about doing the right thing or knowledge of what good customer service is. She gave me attitude. She didn't even take into account that I had been told it had been plugged in. Other than that, it's an ok thrift store and it's for a good cause though I don't know how the money is apportioned. Now I wonder. Generally the level of being of employees is trickle down from the leader. Hmmm.... read more

Obsessed. Who doesn't love helping the animals while also getting AMAZING deals? I live in NW Austin so I typically visit the Burnet location but every now and then when I'm in south Austin, I'll go to the Oltorf location and it is such a treat. I've found amazing deals here and it literally takes all my self control to not buy everything I want. They are extremely organized, and the staff is really nice and offers to hold your stuff if you have a ton while you're shopping. I've found throw pillows, $100 iphone cases for $5, a foot bath and massager for $6!! super cute jewelry, cute shoes.... Ugh, its heaven int there. Not gonna lie, I used to be a Savers girl when it came to thrifting but now every time I think of thrifting, APA thrift is the FIRST place that pops into my mind. read more

There are so many cool and unique clothes and shoes here. It is so eclectic that you can find a vintage 1950's hat to a barely new leather gladiator sandal. The staff is super friendly and there's even an adorable wiener dog that greets every customer. Be prepared to hear a loud bell when you walk in and out, because it caught me off guard. Haha. They also accept donations on site, and its best not to use the front entrance. There's a donation door towards the back of the store. They even give you a receipt for your gently used items. Can't wait to go back when I have more time browse. read more

Ok, I love dogs. And I love deals. And I live in South Austin. The clothes are so reasonable, shirts are all $3 and dresses $5. Another amazing thing is that "fast fashion" gets a 2nd and 3rd use and doesn't end up in our landfills. After coming in a few times I also decided to help out and volunteer. I've always been such a fan of the APA! Thrift store in Burnet so when I heard they opened a new location, I knew I had to swing by for a visit. The store has only been open for a week but the stuff there is fantastic. I found a nice soft leather jacket in their boutique section and a much desired mortar and pestle. Plus, there is a good amount of room to walk around to leisurely shop compare to their Burnet store so my dog Loki felt comfortable sniffing around and greeting Sweets (the APA! Thrift mascot.) And as always, the volunteers there are always so welcoming and wonderful, it only adds to the experience of shopping there. read more

I was briefly into thrifting after college and used to hit up the goodwills and boutiques in the Austin area looking for good deals. I love the premise of an Austin Pets Alive thrift store. APA is a great organization that does a lot of good work in the area and fits right in with Austin. I personally know a lot of people who would love to support this organization by stopping by this store. Unlike Goodwill, it seems like this thrift store is a little less picked over than a lot of other ones. It's a hidden gem. You can find a lot of great deals that you couldn't at more mainstream thrift stores. This one just seems like it gets passed over, so it's a GREAT opportunity for anyone who is into that kind of thing. read more

I love this place. Second time coming with the fam and pup. Had a bad experience. My pup is scared of other dogs and I know it. So I'll pick him up because if I don't, all he does is run away from any energetic puppy who wants to be his friend. It's him not them and I know that. There was a dog and his name was Emoji I think? Anyways the woman (pixie cut, faded color dye) working saw that Emoji was trying to play with my pup but I would just pick him up. She ended up tying him up and told me, as I was next to my family, "you don't want him to touch your dog so I'm tying him up" in a very passive aggressive tone and in a way of putting blame on me. When she came out of tying him I told her "it was no big deal, my dog is scared of everything." And kept on being passive aggressive with me. It left a sour taste in my mouth and I don't think I will be coming back. My feelings were very hurt. read more
