This place bills itself as a thrift store, but the prices are more in line with what you'd see in a consignment store. The aisles are very narrow in order to accommodate all the merchandise. They definitely have some collectible items, including some vintage stereo stuff. Inside you'll also find appliances, toys, furniture, tons of clothes, home decor, drum sets and electronics. They do offer sale prices on certain color tags which are likely the items that have been sitting around for a while. About half the space is given over to clothing and accessories, you'll also find three dressing rooms to try them on. This business doesn't just accept donations, they will purchase them as well. This thrift store carries a higher quality number of goods by far than your average Goodwill, but then again they are priced higher. Plenty of photos to peak your interest below.

The clothing selection is especially good--better brands, excellent condition, no stains or tears, and often items that are brand new or look like they've barely been worn. Beyond clothing, I've found beautiful crystal and china, quality glassware and serving pieces, decorative items, books in wonderful condition, puzzles, children's toys and clothing, and some truly gorgeous furniture. The furniture, in particular, is often top-quality and priced far below what I would expect. The store itself is clean, organized, and easy to shop. I never feel like I have to dig through piles of damaged or worn-out items to find something worthwhile. What really sets Better ATX apart, though, is the people. The volunteers are friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they're doing. Every visit feels welcoming. I often run into familiar faces, and it's not unusual to end up having a pleasant conversation with a volunteer I've never met before. As someone who relies on thrift stores to help stretch my budget for clothing and household items, I appreciate places that offer genuine value. Better ATX consistently has some of the best prices I've found on high-quality items, including brands I could never justify buying new. I then went to the front to ask for help and was told that I would need to look in the carts myself. I told the lady that my daughter needs the hearing aid to hear and they are very expensive but she blew me off again and told me to look myself. I then told her I had spent $60 in the store and that they were $12,000 and asked if she would please help me. She told me " not with that attitude I can't." She then forced me to take a breath and continued to berate me about my attitude after she had refused to help me. She finally did make an announcement and someone came forward with the hearing aid. I'll never go back to this store and would never recommend it to anyone.

Having spent much of my working career with critically ill people who are often having the worst days of their lives, I can admit to many moments where I am super tired and frustrated with things in my own life, and understand needing to take a step away, have a minute to regroup, take a breather etc. But how am I supposed to know it's your day off if you're behind the counter, and asked me what I was looking for? what about the other person who I'm assuming was working..couldn't they have chosen to just say a few words? If they felt I was looking for a long explanation, I think a reply saying something like I'll give you the short version would have sufficed. It did made me wonder what it was about me and friends that made it seem appropriate to reply in that manner. Is the attitude some type of gimmick I'm not aware of? Im not necessarily angry, Just felt disappointed. Made me wonder what I had to look like to get treated nicely. Maybe it's the fact half my outfit is from Costco, the other half from Marshall's. The interior of this business can't be more than 700 ft.², but it is certainly packed in with old vintage clothing and some additional knickknacks. I can quickly lose my wife to the racks while I drop into the back area and comb over some of the local artifacts. Often I'm looking for antiques, old toys, some office equipment, and large scale frames. I go through my usual tracks and quickly find what I'm looking for or I end up re-organizing the shelves and put things in where they're supposed to be. The hired help does a decent job, but there are the few who just throw it up on the shelf and call it a day. There's so much donations in the back that they don't really mind where they place it because people like me will either put it in place or make a purchase. I used to snub those who went to Goodwill. They should be calling it. Good fortune instead. It's like urban mining. There are some really good finds. People toss out brand new items to worn through apparel. Sometimes even I find items that I would've bought 20 or 30 years ago and now I have it. My wife and I have made it into an enjoyable hobby to pass the time and reminisce on those things that have been past through the generations.
