We were determined to ensure that our child did not face the challenges we encountered growing up--lack of support and the absence of essential tools and skills for self-empowerment and autonomy. Before choosing OOTK, we consulted with fellow parents in the Autism community and those at our child's school. After attending OOTK's open house, the therapists and An left a lasting impression, leading us to join their waiting list, aware that it might take six months or more. Our past negative experiences with ABA facilities, overly focused on behavioral conditioning and token use, prompted us to seek better support that aligned with our child's strengths, pro-Autism advocacy (not that Autism Speaks bullshit) and employing more empathetic communication methods Ultimately, we selected OOTK because they aligned with our stance on Autism. During our child's time there, they communicated with us only when necessary, conducted regular productive check-ins, and collaborated closely with us and the school to ensure our child's success. Our goal was for our child to acquire life skills, cope with challenges, and communicate effectively, irrespective of being autistic or nonverbal. Witnessing our child evolve from a quiet presence to a sassy chatterbox speaking in full sentences amazed us. OOTK's staff consistently displayed understanding, empathy, and professionalism, contributing significantly to our child's remarkable progress. Thank you for being a transformative influence in our child's life and for the invaluable support you've provided to our family. Our child, like any other, experiences both good and challenging days. The ability to communicate and understand the importance of compassion has been a crucial lesson, teaching them resilience even in the face of setbacks. Thank you so much. Now I wonder if some of it was just my daughter making some of the progress on her own. The owner (An) does not keep track of the kids case workers. We have talked to her about my daughters (Jenny was her case workers name) and she would say, "I don't keep track of the kids, I just leave it to the case manager" (how professional...) Jenny was absolutely terrible. She would email me always going on and on about how my daughter did this and that wrong. Even texting me inconveniently about how my daughter is fussy or constipated. I would be at work and they'd be texting me about it. I eventually had to email her telling her to stop messaging me negative statements about my daughter. Jenny decided she wanted my daughter to have ABA classes at HOME! Apparently she and other people at OOTKS had been "thinking about it for a long time", but only decided to talk to us about it when I was 4 WEEKS AWAY FROM GIVING BIRTH TO MY SON! When my mom called and confronted her about why she was kicking my kid out of the program, Jenny couldn't come up with anything but constipation issues was the reason. We told An we did not want Jenny to work with my daughter. Only a few days later we were informed JENNY WAS WORKING WITH MY DAUGHTER AFTER WE ASKED AN NOT TO AND SHE AGREED SHE WOULD NOT HAVE JENNY WORK WITH MY CHILD! We would also get multiple calls about my child having a fever & "needed to go home". When I would pick her up, let her play & take her temperature again, she was normal temperature, even playing normally. Not sure if something is wrong with their thermometers or if they just didn't want her there. We eventually left cause we felt they didn't want my daughter there and have now found a place where my daughter is thriving & enjoys. She leaves that place with a smile (unlike this place).

I have taken a self defense course with him as well as fitness classes and I can tell you that he is an amazing teacher. All my friends know that I hate exercise. I believed that if you never exercised, your body would never need to store fat :-D. But Mr. K would encourage me to try out his classes. So, I took up the challenge and his regimen resulted in the fittest me that I had ever known. I was eating better, feeling energized and I was experiencing endorphins in a way that I had never known. Wonderful swim school! Not only is Goldfish a swim school, they also host several fun events each…read moremonth. We love going to the open swim. It's 2 hours of fun in a heated pool with pool toys. They make sure kids can swim or let them borrow a life jacket and they have lifeguards on duty. The water is so pleasant at over 90 degrees, the lessons are "chill free." That was the biggest complaint of our last swim school, the water temperature! The staff is very friendly and the facilities are super clean.

They also have real showers with soap, shampoo and conditioner- it truly had almost every single thing we wanted. Here's where we had to make the choice to stay with Emler and not switch to goldfish. The lesson felt much more fast paced and like the children were there to have fun vs learn real skills. My 18 month old can swim underwater 10 seconds but they don't start actual swimming until I believe 2 years old. I did love how nice the instructor was but this felt a bit more like a fun mommy and me experience. I think this is a fun place to go if you want to get your child acquainted with being in water. We used British Swim School for our 3 year old's first introduction to swimming lessons. Overall I…read moream very happy with our experience and I would consider taking lessons with them again as my kid grows. They are professional, safe, and focused on feasible goals for my kid's age of familiarity and comfort in the water. The teachers were calm and encouraging and worked with the fact that sometimes my kid loved being in the water and other times didn't want to get in. They are very available for calls by phone to work with parents on makeups or questions. I didn't feel able to give a full 5 stars since there are some things the school could improve on. We often had a different instructor each week, which I admit was a bit hard for my kid feeling nervous in front of a new person (the pandemic and being isolated hasn't help with people skills meeting new teachers so I know this is exacerbated to this year). But even besides that, the different teachers often didn't know that my kid was in their class, we would walk up and they would act surprised, oh they are in my class too? I think there could be better communication between the instructors and to the instructors, and a better job encouraging the kids at the start of the lesson (e.g. give us your name at least!) Secondly the temperature of the pool at the Marriott location is inconsistent. Sometimes warm, other times cold. If this could be fixed it would be very helpful for the younger swimmers. I think these are things that could be easily improved on to make the experience even better. Overall I am happy!

My 9 year old son has been making wonderful progress with his studying of BJJ while having a great time since every kids' class finishes with fun, yet relevant games. The benefit of Mr. João's teaching extends beyond the mats and the classroom. Mr. João not only teaches crucial self-defense skills, his teaching also emphasizes important life skills such as being able to respectfully interact with others, ability to focus and paying attention, and effective communication with others. The other instructors at the school, Mr. Brandon and Mr. Al are also very approachable and very patient. They cover the material in a way that makes it fun, yet conducive for the children to learn quickly and readily able to apply their techniques and skills. The atmosphere in the children's class is very nurturing and safe. The instructors care about the children's safety and provide them with all the necessary tools to maintain it. I would highly recommend Mr. João Crus's BJJ school to any parent who is considering making the right investment in their children's health, well-being, as well as personal growth through the vehicle of martial arts' training.

I really cannot say enough good things about Deanna Barnes. She's a smart, patient, caring, sensitive person with a wonderful sense of humor and a truly compassionate warmth for the children.
