I thought I had posted a review when I dropped RideAustin but I don't find it. Originally I got excellent service from this company and liked that drivers got a bigger share of the fee and it is a local company. But over time I began to have serious issues. First a driver accepted my ride and then drove home without cancelling or letting me know. After that my rides started getting accepted then dropped multiple times, each new driver being further away from my location. Then a friend I had recommended this service to asked me why I would recommend them when she was never able to actually get one of their drivers to show up. Since I will not use Uber or Lyft due to their political actions to gain control of local laws, I had to resort to taxi cabs when I need to go somewhere I can't get by Austin's less than full-city-covering 'public transit' system. Quite frankly, I am amazed RideAustin hasn't gone under yet, since the reviews seem to indicate that I am not the only repeat user who got worse and worse service as time went by. read more

I was in town for Austin City Limits and downloaded RideAustin as they had a $5 off promo code for first time riders. Well, the promo code didn't work, but email support eventually fixed the problem. Minus 1 star for not working the first time. I ended up not needing the code as they partnered with Honda to offer free rides to the festival. I was lucky enough to get one of their limited number of cars each of the 3 days. The drivers were knowledgeable and seemed happier than your average Uber/Lyft driver I encounter in California. Prices seem about the same, so why not support local? read more

Easy App to use, fast efficient and friendly drivers! Absolutely love the "Female Driver Mode," nice touch with all the scary stuff that could go wrong. Round up your fair and the proceeds go to a local charity. The cars I've traveled in have been clean, comfy and smoke free. Keep it local, support a local business! read more

I have used this service 4 times now and have had a very experience each time. The last one I did the female driver mode and Faith was the absolute best. The other driver were wonderful, not to take away from them with the shout out. I might be using the app wrong but I can't figure out how to pre-schedule a pick up. That is my only issue read more

Loved Ride Austin! We were visiting Austin for the Moto GP at Circuit of the Americas Raceway and used Ride Austin multiple times per day. Response times were super quick! The drivers were friendly, showed up very quickly, the vehicles were very comfortable. Absolutely no complaints! We took trips into downtown Austin, trips to the raceway, even received recommendations on great local BBQ. Simply downloaded the Ride Austin App prior to our trip, and we were able to use their services immediately upon arrival. Added bonus to me that they are a local company, rather than a huge corporation. read more

Local business, comparable prices to Lyft and Uber, easy platform to use (just like the other rideshare apps), and DONATES TO LOCAL CHARITIES. If you like Austin, support it. You don't to be from Austin to use -- I downloaded for the weekend. The locals are grateful to you when you use -- highly recommend! Also RideAustin drivers are required to do a fingerprint vetting process before becoming drivers, which is a nice voluntary security measure for passengers to be aware of, especially solo female passengers. read more

I have been using RA for three years on and off, and it's my go to rideshare now. This company is smaller than U/L so it has fewer drivers. It means one needs to leave more time for ride request. This is especially important for folks living in outskirts of Austin where drivers could be roaming 15min away. The app has a feature to leave a note to driver. It's convenient for leaving detailed instructions if you are in a place where driver can easily get lost. If I have a long ride to airport my note to driver would be "going to AUS Airport" so driver won't cancel on me. So far so good. The Ride Austin app doesn't have scheduled rides! To go around that I ask if my driver has Direct Connect code. With his/her DC code and phone # I can schedule rides with him/her(Need latest app though). You would be surprise how many drivers are on R/A only and they rely on DC code to develop their clientelle. It may not be the perfect solution but it works out just fine. The app also has a female driver mode for female passengers. One can request a female driver this way. But I imagine one can use that mode in airport and downtown only, because there aren't that many female drivers around, especially at night. So remember to turn off mode, or you won't see many cars around you anymore. Now that U/L are paying drivers 49-60 cents a mile, I hear drivers complaining more, and it's not surprising to see more drivers are switching to RA. Overall I like this platform and save money. By skipping the two big guys I feel good not funding their huge AI budgets, and not impoverishing local drivers. I give RA 4.5 stars read more

This is the first time I have used a rideshare company. I chose it because it is local and they share their profits with small community agencies. Three friends and I wanted to go downtown and not hassle with parking. I downloaded the app, typed in my address and the place we wanted to go downtown, and the app told us the driver would be here in 4 minutes. Everything worked smoothly. After the event, are used the app again. The app altered the address but your block for pick up, but drivers phone number showed up no I called. He drove the extra block and picked us up, and he dropped us off at my home in less than 10 minutes. Both drivers were extremely professional and so both stated they were new drivers, they had no problems navigating between my home and downtown. All four of us were extremely pleased with the service. read more

I'm actually a driver for ride Austin. I have some of the same issues as others. I have riders that constantly cancel because of the five minutes that is allowed to them. A lot of times I'll drive 4 minutes at 70 miles an hour and I don't even make a penny for my time when the ride is canceled. I get bogus reviews just like everyone else. The guarantees promise to me from ride Austin 99% of the time I don't get such as referral money etc. Most of the time there is no support after 8 at night to be found. So if you don't hear from them on the first day you will hear from them on the second day and if you need a refund you won't get it until the second day etc. On a positive note and they are cheaper than Uber and Lyft and their surges are not near as high and you do not have to carpool. They do not offer anything below a X as far as a rides goes. There really is no checks and balance with his company. They kinda do what they want. And I've talked to many people that work for the company nobody's ever on the same page. However if you're on a budget this is still the best way to go as far as current rideshare companies go in Austin. read more

I have had nothing but a terrible experience with right Austin I've tried to become a driver and they would never help me to get the program working they take days to email you back then when you tell them that their customer service isn't up to par they don't wanna do business with you so I would not recommend right Austin read more

Use at your own risk! highly recommend using lyft or Uber instead! I was in town for ACL this past weekend. First ride was great - no issues. Second ride - after the festival my friends and I were in downtown getting a ride. The driver kept traveling further and further from us. I was texted at 11:05pm that said driver was "4 minutes away." I tried calling, at 11:13pm, the driver 3+times and tried to text him a couple of times too. NO response. The driver ("Bilal " SUV with Black GMC Yukon XL) didn't even cancel the ride until after 11:20pm. This was at least 15 minutes lost! Requested an uber, got here in less than 3 min. Not saying every driver will be like this, but don't take your chances! read more

Since Uber and Lyft came back it town this service is losing drivers due to their micro management of there drivers. True they only take .99 , from their driver per ride but they dont tell you about them taking .80 transfer fee. They expect driver to except every request like Lyft but since they have less riders you travel much farther to pick up the rider and most of the time the distant the rider is going is less than the distance the driver travel. Since they are losing driver the rider wait time is 2x or even up to 10x longer than Uber or Lyft. I drove for RideAustin since day one but due to there treatment I now only drive for Uber and Lyft. read more

I've spent over two hours waiting and four people canceled. I missed one my appointments because of it. I gave myself an hour buffer but there incompetents was even greater. He sat at the airport for an hour before he canceled. I called nine times and texted several more and nothing. I've never had such a bad experience. One guy never showed but still tried to charge me $12 for it. One person just went round and round for 40 minutes before he canceled. Literally just going around in circles.This was all just today trying to get back and forth to the VA. This was completely unacceptable this isn't rocket science. I did logistics for six years for the Army. My kids could do a better job hands down they're ten and thirteen. read more

I used RideAustin to and from an event for the first time last night and the experience was very pleasant: Really nice drivers who picked up very quickly. I like the idea of supporting a local company and rounding up the fare to donate to local charities. The "female driver mode" is also a plus, although none were available at the time I needed the first ride. Also, both drivers mentioned that RideAustin pays its drivers more than U/L. So, I will be using RideAustin exclusively now. read more

I have used several rideshare apps and this is by far the best. I haven't had a bad experience, and in the many times that I have used them I have learned the following about the company from the drivers: The drivers get the biggest return with RideAustin. More than one driver has confirmed that RideAustin only takes $1 per drive whereas other rideshare groups take much larger percentages. RideAustin will allow you to round up the cost of your drive and have that extra donated to charity. They have sold their platform to other cities so that they can get in on the action. Let me start off by saying I am totally blind. I downloaded the ride Austin app in the summer of 2016 when they opened because Uber and Lyft had left town. The first problem I encountered was that their app did not support voiceover so I could not use it as a blind person. But being as I had no options at the time I would get a sighted person to help me request a ride. I only used it a handful of times and then I discovered fasten and used that app which was much much better. After trying ride Austin and being thoroughly dissatisfied I quit using them two or three weeks after first signing up. That was in July 2016. This morning I received an email saying that I had been charged for a ride from August 2016 from Ride Austin. I called them to let them know that I haven't use the app and 2 1/2 years and they told me that it was a legitimate charge but that their accounting department was messed up or confused about it for the last 2 1/2 years and have now charge my credit card. I have never been to either of the addresses listed for that ride. I explained all this and they became belligerent. I have already opened a dispute with my bank regarding the charge but it is ridiculous that this pathetic excuse of a rideshare company would come back almost 3 years later and try to charge me for a ride that I never took in 2016. If any of you are reading this just use Uber and lift. They are so much better than this company. read more

I had an awful experience with Ride Austin and wanted to share so that you're aware if you choose to do business with them. I requested a car, noticed the car was traveling away from my location, tried contacting the driver and when I did that, the driver cancelled the ride. I thought "no big deal, I'll just request another." So I did, and the same thing happened. 4 attempts and 1 hour later, I downloaded Lyft and was picked up within 4 minutes. When I tried reaching out to customer service about my situation, I did not get a response, not even as much as an apology. They DO NOT care about their customers, use Lyft instead! read more

I've used them sporadically for a few years and then every morning for the last 2 weeks to go to jury duty. One day, the estimated arrival time was 11 minutes and the guy showed up over 20 minutes later. Another day, the driver changed 4 times- each time after several minutes of waiting and the arrival time kept being 12 minutes (took much longer than that). Reported it and was told they would look into it. Never heard back. The final day was the worst. A driver was assigned but then dropped. Then another who was at the airport, who then texted me (I think it was him) and said he was too far away but he didn't cancel the ride so I did. (His arrival time was supposed to be 19 minutes but there was no way he would ever get here in less than 25 minutes). Then after searching a while it said no drivers were available. Then I requested again and finally another driver, at the airport again, picks up and has arrival time of 19 minutes (right). After 10 minutes he hadn't even budged from the airport (but the arrival time was still 19 minutes) so I cancelled the ride and had to pay $5 (because I hadn't canceled within 3 minutes-not enough time to know if someone is going to show up in a reasonable time). I contacted Uber and someone was here in 2 minutes. RideAustin cannot provide the service they are selling, lie about estimated arrival times, obvioulsy do not care about customer service, appear to be understaffed and unorganized. They are unreliable and I would recommend never using them, especially if it matters when you get somewhere. And where does the $5 go? Into the driver's pocket? Is that why they accept rides they can't provide and then don't bother to cancel? read more

I really tried to use this service as I believe the drivers keep far more of the fare. But it just doesn't work. To start the app just can't work out how far a driver is from the airport. It always says 12 minutes, irrelevant of if it is really 20 mins or 2 mins. It takes a while to "connect", and then drivers can cancel at their whim. I regularly have 3-4 drivers cancel after they have accepted the ride, by which time I have "lost" 10-15 mins. But if after that multiple cancellation by drivers I give up (to call another service) they bill me $5. read more

Went from Austin Airport to my cousin's house in Leon Valley (San Antonio). BEST ride I have ever had, truly, of all taxis or ground transportation hires. Miguel, the driver, was so skillful even in heavy traffic that he made the whole trip a real pleasure. The price was much better than all the competitors, the car was immaculate and there was bottled water and hand sanitizer on offer. I love that it's local, LOVE the donation to Austin Humane Society, and kudos to Miguel for his courtesy, professionalism, excellent driving and cheerful personality. read more

While wanting to support local businesses, I have grown tired of RideAustin coming from the Airport. On 3 separate occasions, I have requested a ride from this service only to have the drivers cancel the fare. RideAustin charges you $1 for the each reservation and has yet to cancel these transactions on my card. read more

Really disappointed in the Ride Austin team. I used the Ride Austin app back in 2016. Was a little clunky because it was new, but it was the only option at that time. Fast forward to February of 2019 and I see a Ride Austin charge come through my bank account. I reach out to the Ride Austin asking them what gives. And they tell me I had a charge that did not go through back in 2016...yes 2016! I said I had three other charges go through at the same time after I reviewed with my bank, so how do I know this one didn't go through? They sent me a screen shot of their system showing it didn't go through. At this point its not even about the amount of the charge (it was pretty small), its the principal and business practice of charging someone from 2.5 years ago and not reaching out and explaining the situation.
