This restaurant reminds me of The Cellar in the atmosphere and decor. It looks small at first but there is an upstairs and I think a downstairs. I liked that when we told the host our reservation, the table was already set up for us - first good impression on us! The waitress was nice but seemed rushed every time she came over to us. She would ask us if we wanted something to drink but seemed less interested in explaining much. She also got the beers wrong - IPA vs Red IPA (actually a Red Ale). Luckily the keg tapped, and we got the first beer for free. We ordered a 3 course meal: - Fried Calamari: the sauce was really thick, not a huge fan of that, the calamari was kind of chewy and the breading kept falling off. It wasn't too bad, I love calamari so I could get passed it but it wasn't the best ever. - Shrimp fettuccine: fresh and light, it was delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a perfect touch. The capers were big and really salty so I avoided eating them. - Pork tenderloin: pecan crusted was not pecan crusted-crunchy. He said it was good but there wasn't enough sauce on it and it was chewy. The green beans were great though. - Raspberry sorbet: refreshing and sweet, very delicious. My only problem is the sorbet was already melting when it was brought to the table. The food was good but it wasn't extraordinary where it blew my mind. I would go back but try something different, the menu changes every 4 months so maybe in a few months we will go back. It was a bit expensive for the experience. I wish the wait staff was more attentive and interested, not just generic- I just got the feeling that it was "how's your meal (because I have to ask)." read more

This restaurant is a correct choice to be in Corning for the first time. It's a very relaxing environment that you can enjoy and have decent memory. The food I chose is magnificent. read more

This is the place to dine while in Corning for sure. It is the only place for 40 miles with such an innovative chef and attention to fresh and often organic ingredients. Recently i had an amazing asparagus soup, a monkfish that blue me away and i live in coastal new england and their creme brulee rivals those of Bostons (italian section) North End. The setting is on market street, an ideal place to stroll and dine. The owners are great people and very generous in the community. They are professionally trained and it shows. They recieved the Entrepreneur Award from their nearby Alma Matter. Oh, also this is 1 of only maybe 2 places to have a proper cocktail while in town in nice setting. Hot spot LPGA week too. Bathroom is on the second floor. read more

Ambiance: low light, rich colors, cloth table covering and napkins, eclectic mix of music Service: Very friendly and efficient, highly attentive without being intrusive (my water glass was never less than 1/2 full) Food: Excellent! We started with bowls of Fish House Chowder and black bean with cumin (SOTD). My partner's entrée was the portobello stack (portobello mushrooms and smoked mozzarella over a bed of arugula and ratatouille) and I selected the 8 oz. Teres Major (shoulder steak) with an apple-wood smoked bacon demi, mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas. My partner raved about the mushrooms (although he did mention that he wished the ratatouille didn't include olives), and my steak was cooked to perfection. It was the perfect ending to the day, and all for only $40! If we're ever in Corning again we'll surely stop by to sample something else from the creative menu. read more

Amazing ambiance as well as tasty food! The porterhouse streak was so delicious!! The wine menu is extensive and tasty! Love the lighting and coziness of this restaurant. It's a bit too open, so I feel there's no sense of privacy when you are eating with whomever because the tables are so close but other than that. I liked the food, the staff, THE DRINKS, and prices are reasonable for what you get. read more

Absolutely excellent. Had an awesome date night with my wife here. The service was great, the ambiance was perfect and the food was delicious. We shared the crab cake appetizer which was very tasty and went well with the cocktails we ordered. In ink next time we will stick to the wine. My old fashioned was a little watered down, but the wine I switched to with the entree was great. My wife ordered the ahi tuna (med-rare), the dish came out cooked perfectly. I ordered the rib eye which was very flavorful and also cooked perfectly. I ordered it (med-rare) as well and it had a great char but still rare in the inside. All in all this place is the real deal, and definitely worth a fancy night out. read more

Way overpriced food for the small portions. If they didn't have a Fortune 500 company nearby with a large expense budget this hole in the wall wanna be 5 star restaurant would have close long ago. read more

Meh. I sat at the bar which has a kind of v shape which meant I was half turned away from everybody else. My steak was more expensive than the Kobe beef steak at The Cellar and wasnt that great. It was big; but so what? I didnt finish it. Who needs that much beef? I didnt have wine. I dont really know wine well enough to rate the selection anyway. I will say Hand and Foot was able to engage my interest in drink selections and got me to try a few things I hadnt before. Maybe it was an off night; but I did not feel the food as art vibe I like when going to a nice place. Especially when expecting French. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time last night on our date night after being referred here. And it did not disappoint. The ambiance had an immediate nice effect, we sat downstairs by the fire. Nice. I started our evening with Sam Adams Ale on tap, she had a Blue Moon Belgian Wheat. We started dinner with the Flat Bread Pizza as an appetizer and it was superb. Better than I expected, as I would not call it pizza. For the main course we both selected the Teres Major Steak (mine Medium Rare, hers Medium Well) and it was the best steak we have had in a very long time. The mashed potatoes and green beans were a wonderful compliment to the steak. The meal portion size was perfect as it left just enough room for dessert. We selected the Chocolate Pate. The perfect end to a perfect meal. We can't wait to come back and try something else from their menu. If you are looking for something beyond a normal meal or a place for a date, this is the place to try. I would highly recommend it. read more

I stopped here for drinks and appetizers with my dad at the bar. The restaurant's low light and decor created a trendy vibe (it made me feel underdressed in the pajama pants I wore on my nine hour drive to Corning). The bar was well stocked and the food was excellent. I had a cup of the New England Clam Chowder (a little thin, but great flavor). My dad had their Black Bean Soup which he said was very good. We split the Flat Bread Pizza which was fantastic (this is from the bar menu, which we had to ask for). The basil pesto on it was great. If I come back I'll definitely be getting it again. The service was lacking. The bartender took care of us and he was very cold. That's not usually my experience with bar staff who tend to be chatty, but from the moment we sat down it seemed like he wanted us out. My dad tells me the staff is usually very friendly and that he's not the regular guy so I guess I'll have to update my review next time I stop in. Overall I'm definitely glad my dad brought me here. read more

Just had dinner there and it was excellent. I had the duck my wife had the roast pork and my friend had the branzini and my other fried had the veal special. My husband I love this place. Best place to go for a drink, snack, meal and/or dessert. I highly recommend the demi fries! Everything on the menu is great! Decent selection of beer. I always want more craft beer but that's me. Great selection of wine & liquor. Wonderful atmosphere. Every once in a while the place gets "rowdy" for a nice restaurant but other than that it is definitely a place to try out. read more

This place is sooooo good! The caprese salad is fresh and perfectly balanced. The bread is something special it's salty but not overwhelming. You don't have to be dressed up but it's also more on the upscale side. The prices are also reasonable. The rack of lamb was delicious!! All around very pleased with our dining experience. read more

Ordered the trout special. Over cooked seafood is not good. Came to the table over cooked and dry. Wine was good. Expensive dinner with a bottle of wine. I'll pay for a good meal, if it's good, but a bad expensive meals isn't good. read more

Among many restaurants on Market St. this one distinguishes itself as fine dining. They have fresh crab delivered three times a week and make their own crab cakes. Delicious! Daily soecials offered. Quality is fairly reflected in prices. Our dinner for 2 was $100 without dessert. We would have had to take out the dessert because the portions were satisfying. read more

Came here for a light dinner and sat at the bar. Ordered a large bowl of the soup of the day (something creamy, spicy and with chicken); should have ordered a second bowl to go because it was that good. Also came with a few slices of warm bread which was DElicious. Two beers and soup came to $12 - I think a bargain. The low light and quiet scene almost reminded me of some lounge. I bet this would be a great place for a date. read more

Arrived in town Friday afternoon and we're looking for a quiet elegant dinner spot. Yelp led us to Three Birds as did our B&B Host and a local Business Owner. Megan welcomed us, offered drinks and shared the evening specials. The dining room was well appointed and service was attentive. We started our tastings with, Fish Soup (hearty), Spinach Salad with Satan's Egg (Deviled Egg w/Sriracha) and Baby Green Salad. All were excellent. Entrees included, Grilled Lamb Top Round and Butcher Block 12oz. NY Strip w/ Roquefort Demi Glaze. The steak, order med/rare, was perfect; the Grilled Lamb delicious. After a few moments to relax, we moved to Desert. Classic Creme Brûlée and the house specialty, Chocolate Pate. The Creme Brûlée did not disappoint, but the Pate was unlike anything ever experienced before. layers of Chocolate and Raspberry fused together into a fudge like consistency served with a small dollop of fresh whipped cream. It was extraordinary. read more

Three Birds Restaurant - Chocolate Pate - New American Near Me - Corning, New York

We used Three Birds Restaurant to host our rehearsal dinner and welcome reception. The food was excellent. We had three options for our guests: pork tenderloin, pecan-crusted chicken, and lobster and crab fettuccine. All three meals were delicious. Size-wise we had 64 people for the dinner and 97 people for the reception. The private room the restaurant has was perfect for these amounts. I would not recommend having many more guests than that. The staff was also great and worked their butts off. We had two bartenders who were very accommodating and were always moving around making sure everyone was taken care of. The only negative was that there was no AC, and we had to make due with floor fans. As our wedding was in mid-July, the heat was definitely noticeable by our guests. read more

This is our second time at Three Birds. The Smoked Salmon Flowers and Brie En Croûte apps were fantastic. Sea bass was one of the off menu items and was good but a little dry. Other entrees from the main menu Grilled Mahi Mahi and Honey-Roasted Pecan Crusted Pork Tenderloin were great. Finally, the wife loves Creme Brule and this is without a doubt the best she had ever had, worth going back just for that! One of the best restaurants we've been to and of course would recommend. We live in Saratoga Springs and when in Corning will definitely come again. read more

We're from Palm Beach and don't know much about the standards of Corning. We were brought here for dinner a few nights ago and thought it was terrific. Very comfortable, server very nice and food outstanding. I don't mean to say that we were surprised............but we were surprised and pleasantly so. Everyone had something different. Everyone thought what he/she had was terrific. read more

Had a wonderful dinner here last Saturday night. Called for reservations that day and my call was returned promptly. I had read the menu beforehand so I was somewhat familiarized with what to expect. I started with a cocktail of vodka on the rocks with a half lime. There was no dilution in the amount of alcohol, that was for sure. It was a good 2 shots or more of vodka on ice. My appetizer was half dozen raw oysters, with great cocktail sauce and extra horseradish. Superb! A generous side salad came with our entrees and it was fresh and crisp. My entree was a filet mignon that was cooked medium rare, more towards the rare side....and it was cooked to perfection. My companion ordered a strip steak that was also done to perfection. The portions of everything were so large, we took most of our meat in a to go container. And our waitress was so attentive and helpful. We mentioned that since we were staying in a nearby hotel, we did not have access to silverware with which to eat our leftovers. She went and got us some disposable silverware. We would definitely come back to Three Birds again when visiting Corning. I highly recommend it. read more

On the high recommendation of friends from Corning, I came here for dinner. The food was excellent, service very good. However, the bar next to the dining room was so loud, I could barely think. I've been in frat houses that were quieter. The people at the bar were so plastered, I was surprised no one threw up on the floor. If I'm going to pay $30 for an entree, I'm not doing it here again. read more

Great food, great service, great location, makes Three Birds the best restaurant in Corning. it's an upscale kind of place on a hip-and-trendy street. low light, dark decor. come around a little divider and you see the bar first, and to the right, the dining area. crisp shirts, ties, dresses. oopsie. but i was hungry, so ... walked in fresh from a hike, wearing a hoodie and jeans and carrying a backpack. i stood there for a minute. they weren't ignoring me, there was simply no host or hostess. helped myself to a seat at the bar. wasn't immediately greeted. suspected my homely dress made me invisible. but once the bartender understood i meant to be served, he was totally friendly. i asked for a menu and wanted to know the herbal tea selection. he gave me a look, but y'know, tea is how i roll, so... (nice tea offerings, btw!) for dinner, i ordered the napa cabbage stuffed with spicy asian rice and it was tangy, hearty but clean-feeling, and deeply satisfying, way beyond my expectations. the carrot-ginger sauce put the meal over the top. totally did not expect to love it so much. happy with the prices, overheard some pretty awkward but entertaining bar conversations, and enjoyed my half hour there. four stars because i wished they'd had just a few more gluten-free and/or vegetarian options. if i visit corning again, i would definitely consider a return visit, though i'd probably up my wardrobe game a bit before going in. read more

A casual place trying to be ritzy and it just doesn't work. We made reservations and were seated right away. For starters, we ordered the brie dish, hummus and crab cake. I ordered the salmon for my main dish. I personally liked the appetizers better than the my main dish. I felt the salmon was a little dry and the rice it came with was okay. It was cold in the dining room as well. The staff was nice, but food was okay. It's located on a cute block, but not much movement at night. read more

We've had good meals here. I agree with the other reviewer that says the chef is innovative. This place embodies food as art probably more than any other restaurant I've seen in Corning. This is one of the most sophisticated restaurants in town and it's priced accordingly. read more

Just visited Three Birds yesterday for the third time. This restaurant continues to impress me with it's high-quality dishes. Each time I have been here, the food has been excellent, and the presentation is always great. The menu is unique and innovative for the area, and you can tell how fresh the ingredients are. Three Birds can be a little pricey, but for what you get, it is well worth the cost. I do wish I had listened to the most recent reviewer about reservations. We were sat in the back area by the fireplace, and it was very cold in this part of the restaurant. The staff did the best they could to accommodate us, but it just never seemed to warm up. When making a reservation, definitely ask for the main dining area, especially in the winter. This has easily become my favorite restaurant in the area - a must try! read more

I called just before 8 pm on a Friday and was suprised to find availability. We walked right over as we were staying at the Raddison at the end of Market Street. During our stroll, we fell in love with the idyliic town. I said it was almost too perfect, like a back lot from a film studio. I chose Three Birds for it's very high Yelp ratings. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed two specials on the board, pan seared chilean sea bass and hanger steak. When we were greeted, the waitress couldn't find our reservation. She explained the hostess stepped away, and seated us in the back, lower level of the restaurant near a loud group of six. After looking at the menu, I decided on oysters on the half shell appetizer and the sea bass. Our waitress said they were out of oysters and the sea bass special. I changed my order to the strawberry salad and hanger steak. My companion "S" was going to order the hanger steak but switched it to Lamb. We were both disappointed that a number of the items were sold out. The bread came to our table warm with dipping oil. "S" thought the oil was low quality. I tore off a peice of bread and found it very doughy, and even the crust was doughy. The dipping oil had little flavor despite what looked like many ingredients. I mention the bread because my mom always said, "if the bread is good, the food is good." As assured "S" that nevertheless, the meal was going to be good. Our salads were very good, the greens were fresh and flavorful, tasted as if they were sourced nearby. The Hangar Steak was a huge disappointment, inedible as it was too, too salty. My waitress sniffed it and said something like she could smell it. I don't know what that meant. I asked for a replacement meal, this time chosing the Salmon. Sorry, we are sold out. She offered grouper up as an option. I accepted. I waited for 20 mintues while "S" ate her Lamb. She thought it was okay and offered me some. I found the lamb tough, but flavors were good. After a long wait, my grouper arrived. It was covered with bread crumb crusted oven baked tomato. I slid the tomatoes off and went for the fish. It was properly cooked on the edges but tough and undercooked in the middle. "S" asked me about the tomatoes, so I tried a little and once again it was too over salted to eat. I asked the waitress if there was a different chef, but she assured me this wasn't the case. Maybe we came too late in the evening? I don't know, but I'm trying to find an excuse for what I expected would be a fine meal. I couldn't have been more disappointed. read more

Make that 4-1/2 stars! Went in recently on a busy, busy Wednesday night (Sushi night). Our waitress Sara was delightful and attentive. Brought our beverages immediately. Gave us time to chat before ordering. Our starters came quickly... soup for him and Baby Greens Salad for me. Both delicious. He had bass. I had plans to order steak, but couldn't resist the portobello mushroom entree. Again, both delicious. Yes, we had desserts and loved them. Oh, with our beverages we received a small loaf of bread with the most wonderful aroma. Also, olive oil with red pepper flakes, garlic and asiago cheese for dipping the bread. Each of the menu items was beautifully named. Glad to know that the menu is going to change weekly this summer according to available local ingredients. We were neither rushed, nor forgotten. Lovely decor, fairly peaceful noise level. If I was too change anything, it would be to bring the bathrooms downstairs (they've been upstairs for years). Seemed to be a lot of business people, probably on expenses accounts. Food was slightly pricy, but absolutely worth it! I'm eager to return. http://www.threebirdsrestaurant.com read more

Slightly scared was my first thought. This establishment came highly recommended so I went all in. Blue cheese stuffed olive martini, shrimp cocktail and osso buco. After the first olive in my martini, I started to second guess the restaurant. It was bitter and the cheese was tough. Next came the shrimp. Presentation was "Greek diner" style and the crustaceans were slimy to feel. I hesitated to eat them. Now the grand finale! Osso buco arrives...mashed potatoes are definitely from a powder mix and my meat temperature seems to be microwaved. Hmmmm. How old is this stuff? Is it safe to eat? Yes, it seems to be cooked well but shall I continue? I didn't have enough courage to send everything back but the waitress heard my feedback live and was shocked. So, lastly, be careful in Corning. read more

We ate here on a Saturday. They do seem to prefer a reservation and took a while to seat us in a room full of empty tables. We heard the waitress who seated us go into the kitchen and yell " we've got two walk-ins" in a very annoyed tone. The waitress who served us was great though. We recently moved to the area from Rochester and were worried about the lack of decent restaurants. This one was quite nice and we'd probably go back. read more

We were in Corning to go to the Glass Museum. It was our anniversary and we wanted to go to a nice restaurant and it was highly rated on Open Table and yelp, so I made a reservation. We were so happy to find this charming little spot. We were seated right by the window so we were able to people watch. I ordered a glass of wine from our friendly server, Sheila. She gave us suggestions for dinner, but everything on the menu sounded delicious. I ordered scallops and my husband ordered beef. The presentation was beautiful, the flavor so good, veggies were crisp and colorful, and the service friendly, attentive, and timely. This was one of the best meals on our 19 day road trip.
