Although I've had good meals here in the past, I was a bit disappointed by my last experience here. My family came in after my father got discharged from the hospital following a heart operation. We were a party of 6, and although I usually make reservations before going to restaurants, we did not have the chance to do so that night. We came in around 8:30 on a Saturday. The dining area was filled, but it looked like there were some empty tables in the main dining area. However, the hosts wanted to seat us in the small back dining room, which was not as nice, lacking decor and windows, but we were fine with it, given that there were some empty tables there which only required utensils and glasses to be set. In most situations like this, restaurant staff would set the table up and seat us ASAP (because the sooner customers sit, the sooner they get out). However, several staff members dandily paced back and forth between the two dining rooms, picking up and setting down random items from various tables as people were leaving in the main dining room before slowly and gradually adding utensils and glasses to the table where they intended to seat us. (It took 2-3 staff members 10 minutes to put down 6 place settings - record time for lack of speed!) Ordering was fine (other than a small blip where they forgot my mother's salad) and our server had decent customer service skills, but we were definitely rushed at the end of our meal (if they had sit us sooner, perhaps they may not have had to rush us!) The food tasted good overall - not memorable, but everything was nicely flavored. The baked brie was definitely a highlight. The pricing ($30+ entrees) is probably a bit high for the quality, but this is probably the best food you'll get in Corning. Overall, I'd give the food 4 stars based on location, but the service we got and the impression that they did not want our $300+ watered down the experience to a 2. read more

We chose this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. It was perfect! The food was delicious from start to finish. We got a crab cake and baked Brie to start. The crab cake was one of the best I've had. Everyone's entree was SO good. I got the pan seared bronzini (a white fish) and was incredible. My husband got the duck and it was fantastic. My mother-in-law's braised beef rib, which was probably everyone's favorite. The only negative is the coffee for desert was luke warm, but otherwise a big thumbs up for this place. We would certainly go back for a birthday, anniversary or something special. read more

Came in to try eat and they said they were booked full. Many tables were empty and had about 1.5-2 hours until the next reservation. Host still said they were full and funny enough the manger was out sick. read more

Somewhat disappointing dinner at this establishment: - Crabcake as an appetizer was outstanding - fair amount of crab and done to perfection - Caesar salad was really bad. I'll let came out as oil and vinegar dressing and no cheese. I can't understand how you less this one up. - Scallops as an entee we're underdone and mashed potatoes were stone cold hard. As in concrete hard. - Steak as an enteee was superb with bacon glaze - No milk or cream available for our after dinner coffee - Given our experience with our meals we passed on desert Total bill: Over $125.00 plus tip (one alcoholic beverage); so the value paid for what we received prompted a 3 Star Review. read more

Superb scallops wrapped in prosciutto with goat cheese risotto, peas and bean sprouts. Butternut squash soup was also full of flavor. Excellent choices of ingredients in all the dishes without overdoing it. Recommend the pecan crusted pork tenderloin and the lobster broth as well. Excellent service! read more

We went to Three Birds for our 20th wedding anniversary while passing through from Niagara Falls on August 8th. While it was a Tuesday, we did not expect the weekend chef. However, we did expect the main courses to be edible. The waitress, while new, young, and clearly nervous, she was kind and attentive. The service was wonderful. The Brie en Croute was impeccable! The Keftedes was also delicious. We ordered both the Blackened Aukra Salmon and Scallop Provencale. The latter had some exceptionally tasty scallops. This is where the compliments cease. The scallops were NOT served on a bed of angel hair pasta. It looked more like chopped suey. The "angel hair pasta" was one inch in length, the vegetables were delivered in a frozen medley bag with celery??? It was completely inedible. This is not to be outdone by the Blackened Aukra Salmon. I do not even know where to start. The fish was overcooked and tasted like plastic. The Tequila-lime Rice, Roasted Corn and Grape Tomato Relish, Sliced Avocado was tasteless and also inedible. The avaccado slices entailed 2 small pieces smaller than a thumbnail. There was nothing on the plate that was consumable. We have traveled world wide and this was easily one of the top WORST meals we have ever eaten. We paid, left and walked down the street to order crappy Chinese food and ate that in our hotel room. I only gave this 2 stars because, while the food was horrendous, the service was good. Save your money and time. Go to a McDonald's. read more

The service was good and the entres ordered we're good, but we were surprised by how poorly the crab cakes tasted and how dry the Thai meatballs were. We asked if it was possible the crab cakes were old or frozen and a similar question on the inedible Thai meatballs but assured everything is made fresh daily. Both dishes were sent back mostly uneaten. It's unusual to get such a old fishy tasting crab cakes unless either they are in fact old or the crab is old or has been out for a while prior to its prep. Our observations received no response. We won't be revisiting this restaurant. Fortunately there is no shortage of dining options in this town. read more

Went here on a Wednesday night but there was an hour long wait for a table for three so we left. Went back on a Thursday night and luckily got a table for two immediately. Strange thing was that the restaurant was about half empty but even then for the table for two they thought about it for a second, said they'd check, but thankfully seated us. I got the pork tenderloin which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. They gave us nice warm bread to start with. We ended our meal with creme brûlée which was sooooooooooo good. Everything went downhill the moment we showed up. We had a reservation but we're a few minutes early. We were told that our table was occupied by people who weren't ready to leave. There was an empty table nearby but we were told that was not the table reserved for us. So we waited 20 minutes, the people still had not left and so we were shown to the original empty table. We ordered wine and it took 20 minutes to arrive. We then ordered the black bean hummus which ended up taking 40 minutes to arrive and it had no black beans. The waitress said that they ran out of what we ordered so substituted something else without telling us. It went on from there with no main course in sight for a total of an hour. My husband's dish was lukewarm and my ravioli was tough. Just awful. read more

The Moroccan spiced pork loin and the 24 oz prime bone In beef rib cowboy steak ($ 68) were very good. Mushroom and Arugula Stuffed Cannelloni not so good. The Iceberg edge salad with creamy Roquefort dressing was a bit watery. The classic Caesar was better. Service was a bit gruff. Little explanation of the dishes. I have terrible, terrible luck with ordering steak. I always get it and then inevitably say we could have done that home for less than half the cost. This was not the case here. Cook and seasoning was great, potatoes and asparagus were tasty as well. Shared a crab cake app and again, was really good. Service was very friendly and quick. Price wasn't too bad for a classier type restaurant either. If you're looking for a nice going out dinner option in Corning this is a good option for sure. read more

Delicious food expertly prepared. (What they do to a salmon...OMG!). We have eaten there several times and are always pleased with the service as well as the food. The servers are always engaging and don't mind lots of questions about food prep, etc. Most recently our party of seven ordered dinner and all of us were so happy with our choices - Chef Nick prepared a variety of dishes for our eclectic tastes and they were outstanding. Three strikes, and you're out! Strike one: Service wasn't as attentive as expected. It started out fine, with the waitress presenting us with the specials of the night (read word for word... meh), but as the meal continued, service went downhill. She displayed her nymph like qualities and disappeared, ie it took a while for her to pick up the check. Strike two: my hangar steak, ordered medium, was really pink and underdone. I didn't send it back, but this was one of the rare occasions when I've just stopped eating midmeal and took a bet that ordering dessert would leave my tummy satisfied. The cheese covered potatoes were way too heavy on the cheese, and the pepper crusting on the steak was way too peppery. The red pepper bisque was okay; it was more like tomato bisque with chopped up red pepps in it. Fruity, sweet, and nutty would describe the brie appetizer we tried. Could have been warmed more so the brie was really melty. My choice in dessert was the tri-chocolate fudge-like concoction; it was okay... nothing mind blowing. The best part of the meal was the warm, yeasty bread that was served. Strike three: for a restaurant that looks this fancy, it would have been nice for them to clear the table of crumbs in between plates. That was totally missing. read more

Ordered the cesar salad and then the rack of lamb, very bland and not cooked well! I was very disappointed , considering it was supposedly the best item on the menu! Meat very bland, salsa was ok , way undercooked , just not good at all! The salad was lacking dressing. The drinks were fabulous (wine) and service was good although food was slow! Waiter was very good! I am in town working and was very disappointed. Price with 2 drinks just for me around $70 ! Decor was nice , restaurant and lighting good but food quality not there. The service and food were amazing. Susie was our waitress and she was super friendly and attentive. My husband and I ordered: sweet potatoes and lime ceviche (AMAZING) and the specials that night (cod and duck entrees). The menu was filled with vegan and vegetarian options which made me very happy. From the bread to the main course, the only thing that we were disappointed was how we didn't have enough room for dessert. read more

We had reservations at 6pm on a Saturday to celebrate my birthday. We were seated immediately and were very pleased with the distance between tables. We ordered our wine and appetizer and perused the menu. I was hoping for more vegetarian options. The fresh bread brought to the table was beyond amazing. The Brie en croute was the perfect mix of flaky and creamy. I ordered the Shrimp Alexander - so flavorful and a good sized portion. My hubby got the short rib and goat cheese ravioli- thinking the short rib would be minimal inside the pasta. Not at all! Huge chunks of tender short rib on top of the ravioli. Both dishes were worth every penny and calorie! I hope we can return to the area again to enjoy this restaurant! read more

In a larger city, this likely would have been a 3-star restaurant, but given the smaller town, this town should be considered better than average and a solid choice if you find yourself in Corning, NY. I went to this restaurant with a group of 4 and we had a variety of appetizers and entrees. Of our appetizers, I must say the baked brie was probably my favorite. Far better than others in the town. Service was attentive and the restaurant has a good ambiance. Bottom line, if you have to eat in Corning several nights, this restaurant should make your list, but I'd say for a single night, the Cellar is where you should go. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Three Birds! Our party of 6 were seated at the chef's table in the dining room which was a bit private and very festive for our birthday celebration. We all loved the wedge salad and fish tacos that started our meal and our dinner entrees were equally impressive. The bone-in rib steak was pricey but definitely worth it, the lamb chops and salmon were perfectly cooked as was the entree special, arctic char. Roasted fingerling potatoes and Brussels sprouts were just the right seasonal accompaniments. We loved the key lime pie (just the right amount of tart vs sweet). Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Definitely want to return to taste all their seasonal menus. read more

Service was very slow. Had the watercrest salad, paid extra to add protein. The salad was terrible, the only part i liked was not even the salad, it was the grilled shrimp i added. The plus is no matter what protein you add, it's the same cost $3. Also waiter got things mixed up, not knowledgeable about menu. $43 rack of lamb was disappointing. It was brought out MRA as ordered but had no char to it making very chewy. Very disappointing. On a high note the salad was very fresh and the dressing was delicious. If the lamb chops were cooked properly it would have been an excellent experience. read more

This is a very nice upscale place on market st in Corning. I went here recently with my family for my birthday. The ambiance is great for a nice date with low light and nice decor. The service was great very friendly and help with suggestions. I started out with the Baby Greens Salad Organic Field Greens, Crumbled Blue Cheese and Cherry Tomatoes, Laced with a Modena-Balsamic Vinaigrette it was great very fresh tasting! Then for dinner had the Honey-Roasted Pecan Crusted Pork Tenderloin it was very good!!! I wish I wasn't full because the desserts looked amazing I will be trying them next time I go! Just so you know meals are little pricey but not bad for what you get! read more

Three Birds Restaurant in Corning, NY was a treat a friend and I gave ourselves twice since the restaurant reopened after the Covid shut down. We were not disappointed. The pork tenderloin is a favorite, though my friend also relished her scallop dinner. From beginning to end, there was excellent service in an environment of careful cleanliness and safety. We have loved discovering the upper room with large windows overlooking Market Street. We enjoyed coffee and dessert (key lime pie and a decadent chocolate masterpiece) and went our way fully satisfied, having had a wonderful time. Fine dining, every bit worth the price, at a time when restaurant survival is at stake. read more

Great service and food. For a small town, this place and Tony R's is as fancy as it gets. I had the ribeye here and it was tender and loaded with flavor. This dish came with two sides. I enjoyed the potatoes. Ambiance was nice, I liked that the bar and the restaurant was divided. It gives more of an intimate feel to the restaurant side. read more

Amazing ambiance as well as tasty food! The porterhouse streak was so delicious!! The wine menu is extensive and tasty! Love the lighting and coziness of this restaurant. It's a bit too open, so I feel there's no sense of privacy when you are eating with whomever because the tables are so close but other than that. I liked the food, the staff, THE DRINKS, and prices are reasonable for what you get. read more

We're from Palm Beach and don't know much about the standards of Corning. We were brought here for dinner a few nights ago and thought it was terrific. Very comfortable, server very nice and food outstanding. I don't mean to say that we were surprised............but we were surprised and pleasantly so. Everyone had something different. Proprietor was friendly and as quick as a one man show can be. As others have said; three meal options. If we weren't tired from a day at the museum we would have been more chatty and I'm sure the stories would have been a delight. Go if you're up for that kind of experience. Lettuce was crazy fresh and delicious... it seemed that all the other dinner ingredients were pulled and cooked from the freezer as needed.

Our waitress was super friendly and even tried to warn us that one whole mac would be plenty--but we wanted to try both flavors, so next-day leftovers were just part of the plan. He packed the crowd in, wall to wall dancing and the hits kept coming with barely a break. Had a great time and hope to do it again next year.
