Threadless uses contracted printing shops for various items. They do not uphold a high quality standard at all. More than 50% of the items I've ordered in 2025 have had defects. This includes everything from t-shirts to hoodies to mugs. They can't get the printing straight. The printing contains defects with streaks or entire chunks missing. Is a human being even LOOKING at these before they go out the door? It's shameful. Threadless has reprinted a handful of items for me and has refunded me for others. It is very hard to have a Threadless shop for my nonprofit when there's a high chance that my donors/clients are going to get something defective from their shoddy suppliers. I have been using threadless for so many years and they WERE a wonderful company. However the most recent order that I got from them, four of the shirts have gigantic decals that are so gross. It's super frustrating that there's no phone number or way to talk to anybody. I went back-and-forth with them and back-and-forth with them on email it is such a waste of time. First they were like "just pick out other shirts and you can keep those." Which seems nice but I was like "how will I know whether or not the shirts I'm picking or decals?" And they just kept denying that the shirts were made with decals, saying that they're all printed onto the shirt which simply isn't true. Finally they were saying "oh if these are decals we're gonna have to do a deep dive with one of our printers because none of these shirts are supposed to be decals." And then they were like "we're gonna send you the shirts again." I and I said, PLEASE don't send me more decals. Sigh. They sent them again and they are still decals. it's really a bummer because I loved Threadless for so many years. I'm a grandmother and I've been buying threadless shirts for my grandsons since they were little (they are 18 and 15 now). The designs are adorable. But these most recent shirts are just awful. I even bought a shirt for my younger grandson that I had also bought for my older grandson a few years beack. The older purchase was printed on the shirt. it was a Where's Waldo sitting in a cross legged position saying "find yourself."so good! Well the new one is a giant decal and it's really gross. I cannot talk to anyone there they customer service is the worst and I guess writing this is my letting go I want to still order from threadless but this is just ridiculous. I'm so sad. read more

When I lived in Chicago, I loved shopping at the Threadless store on Broadway in Lakeview. I bought many t-shirts there for myself, as well as for gifts for others. I recently made my first online Threadless purchase. A "Blep" hoodie by Joel Robinson (LOVE THE IMAGE!). I prefer to wear my hoodies oversized as I usually wear a t-shirt underneath. I ordered the hoodie as a 2XL. Honestly, when I tried it on, it was barely an XL. I was worried about washing it after wearing it as I was concerned it would shrink a little making it even less of a 2XL. When I contacted Threadless with my issue, they couldn't have been more accommodating (brava Becca at the help desk!). You can't go wrong with Threadless. Based on my personal experience with Threadless as both a designer and customer, I've witnessed concerning unethical business practices. As a designer, I had work approved and used on greeting cards sold in Target stores. However, Threadless refused to pay me for my work and ignored my communications until I was forced to involve a third party to recover payment. Even then, the compensation I finally received was well below industry standards for nationwide retail distribution. Recently as a customer, I ordered a t-shirt that was priced above average market rates. After three weeks, I discovered they hadn't even shipped the t-shirt. When I contacted customer service, they promised a refund, but failed to follow through until I had to contact them twice to actually receive it. I attempted to address these concerns directly with founder Jake Nickell but received no response. Based on this pattern of behavior - refusing payment until forced, ignoring communications, taking money for products they don't ship, and failing to fulfill basic business obligations - I have serious ethical concerns about their business model. They appear to exploit their designers by withholding rightful payment, mislead customers by charging premium prices and sometimes not delivering products, and given this treatment of both designers and customers, I question whether the staff manufacturing their t-shirts are being fairly compensated(?). read more

Many of you know who Threadless is, and many may not. Google them and check out the really cool T-shirt/Art designs they have; they will make you smile and maybe even giggle. You can have pillows. art prints, blankets and many more things than just shirts made. As many reviews have noted, their prices are pretty expensive. If you sign up for emails, they will send you discount flyers/promos when they have them. It is not uncommon to get a basic $10 T offer. The shipping however still kills it for me and makes a deal a non-deal. I almost never see free shipping codes/offers. Last year I saw a print I couldn't resist. The "Man Up" shirt, complete with chainsaw and unicorn guts. The quality of the shirt fabric itself was okay but the front of the shirt looked heavily yellowed (far from white!), like 2 year old armpit stain yellowed. Maybe it got that way from the transfer/applique process. Anyway - I have never worn it because of that - it looks dirty. Shame on me for waiting past any sort of exchange/replacement window. I just personally won't order anymore because of it. Expensive lesson learned.... If you're going to order a shirt, don't get white.... Interestingly enough I have seen their shirts show up in Marshall's for sale at times, where I can but them for $7.99 with NO SHIPPING! read more

We ordered face masks from their site. Great designs by "independent" artists. The quality is terrible. They are too short and do not adequately cover the nose and don't go under the chin far enough. So, I didn't even know that you could pick up shirts here. Definitely will keep that in mind whenever I get some cash flow on spend on witty, clever and/or cute t-shirts. I've been to this location twice now for their Family Reunion parties, and they throw some stellar parties. Last year, I went for the whole day, with free food samples and a jeni's ice cream truck, carnival games and "exclusive" tshirts. At night, there was free food, music, drinks, balloon animals, photo booth and karaoke. This year, I could only make it to the evening portion, which again had free food, drinks, photo booth and karaoke. The added bonus was the live music with Ezra Furman, and I was pleasantly surprised with how great the sound was for the performance. I've been to plenty *esteemed* concert venues that haven't had music sound so good. I really like the t-shirts I got from Threadless, but like their name says......IT'S THREADLESS!!! they use the cheapest types of shirts that are thin and easily tattered. I like the gimmicks and the laughs I get from the different things printed, but they are way too over priced for t-shirts. I stopped buying them and so did my friend who turned me on to them. I've been here twice for events. The most recent one was for a C2E2 after party. Free alcohol was provided, there were snacks, live music, and video games available to play. They also have an airstream trailer inside that have seating for about 15 people. It provided a nice area to sit and talk but also able hear the music. If you see any events hosted by them, you should check it out. They have fun activities to do and they are typically free with you only asking to provide a donation. read more

Was visiting Chicago on my own and wanted to find something a little less 'touristy' to explore. So I checked out Yelp for nearby things to do and the Threadless Headquarters popped up! I used to buy shirts all the time on Thread less when I was in high school, so I was pretty excited to see thir HQ. I walked from OTC (about a mile) and, as a perk, got to see some of the Chicago neighborhoods. When I turned down one of the streets, I saw murals that looked like Threadless art on the side of a building. Sure enough, it was the warehouse! Inside art and shirts everywhere. Some guys were playing Foosball in the front, there were sofas in the shape of vehicles, a backdrop and lights were set up for product photography, there was a stage, and more was towared the back. Up top second floor loft looking area. I asked the receptionist about how it all worked and she directed me to a line of computers that you could browse the catalog to order shirts from and 'pick up from the warehouse' for immediate 'delivery' and to avoid shipping costs. My only complaint was that I only had cash on me, do I couldn't order anything from the site. The vibe here is amazing. Came here for a party, two concerts, and, of all things, a lecture on the music industry. Every time it's been incredibly awesome, with campy couches, ping pong tables, video games, and an overall cool vibe that's laid back and relaxed. I heart threadless. I buy my boyfriend tees from here all of the time. When you walk in you are welcomed and given instructions. When buying a tee you are to go to the Mac area and place your order on one of their computers, just like you would at home. After the order is placed, you give the person working your order number and she runs to the warehouse to grab your shirt. Yes, it is that easy. If you don't live far I suggest walking or riding your bike on a nice day. While you wait for your shirt there are video games and pig pong tables. There are also two airstreams inside that are used for interviews. This is a happy place that is customer friendly. I will definitely return for the Meetup on April 1!!!! read more

Stumbled upon the Threadless HQ while looking for parking for the nearby Goodwill. The signs saying "You've found us!" intrigued us enough to park and go in. They have three computers set up to view their website and place online orders with warehouse pick-up so that you can get your items right away. We spent at least an hour perusing their site, laughing at the witty prints. The lady working the reception desk was very helpful and friendly. Not only did she help us with our transaction, but she also took our picture in the lobby, made thrift shop recommendations and provided us with a map to our next stop. read more

I'm giving 4.5 stars for the warehouse and 3 stars for the overall experience of purchasing shirts. Warehouse - Spacious, unique, street-artsy looking building. This would be a great community venue and with a moderately sized parking. Purchasing and returning/exchanges have been easy since the warehouse is at a convenient location for me. Shirts - I'm content with the quality of the shirts that I've purchased. The designs are humorous and there's something for everyone. I especially like the selection of onesies for toddlers. The fabric and quality has changed over the years which throws off the sizing and fit at times. Website - Add more pictures and descriptions on the differences in the color options. For example, it's not helpful to use the same picture for two types of green color options for the same shirt. Improve your search engine by adding more categories. read more

Best customer service ever! I have been purchasing shirts from them for the last 6 years and I never had an issue. I purchased a t-shirt in August as a Christmas gift. My friend noticed that some of the threads on the hem were loose. I e-mailed them even though there was a 60 day window for returns/exchanges because the shirt was not worn or washed. John from customer service replied. He automatically put in a new order for me to replace the other shirt! Love this kind of response of going beyond the minimum! Ordered a few shirts over the years from Threadless. I guess what makes this place so cool is the fact its HQ is very laid back environment, something you'd expect skaters to hang out at. And the shirts are easy to order. You can order them online and just pick them up at the warehouse on Madison. Shirt quality is pretty decent. But the biggest draw is they have over hundreds of designs so you can find something pretty easy. And its reasonably priced as well. Most shirts are below $20 bucks or hover right around that area and the website always have sales and mark downs. Best bet to just keep an eye on the website for things. I've also been to Threadless a few times for their private parties which are always fun. Its like campus/dorm type of party where they usually have comfort food available (food trucks, hot dogs, etc) and a few kegs of beer available for you. Plus they have interactive games like beer pong, ping pong and even a basketball hoop in the back. They generally attract a younger crowd (early 20s) but its always a good time. read more

this place is so cool, a bit hard to find but they applaud you when you do with their sign that reads "you found us!!" I had to stop by here to exchange a shirt i bought, i called their lakeview store and they were more than happy to let me know that the HQ has all their shirts printed, and it'd be better to go there to exchange a shirt. When we got there they had a BIG tree and a table asking us to make a ornament, they also had cool bean bag like chairs, i want one. they were very nice and the exchange was easy and only took a few minutes for someone to come out with my shirt. This company is super awesome and just another reason to love living in Chicago. Not many companies allow you to visit their HQ to shop or do an exchange, but Threadless does just that! It was super easy to find, in fact the #20 bus drops out right out front. Walked in at 10:30am to make an exchange and was in and out in about 15 minutes. The front desk girl was extremely friendly (and helpful), she simply took my order number, the hoodie that didn't fit, and asked what I wanted instead. I grabbed a seat on the couch and about 10 minutes later a friendly warehouse worker brought out my new hoodie. Super easy, plus the added bonus of not having to pay to ship the hoodie back, wait for the new one to ship, etc. The headquarters itself is exactly what you'd expect -- quirky, lots of interesting decorations. According to other reviews (and based on what I saw) you can come in, shop online from one of their computers, and they will hand deliver your order to you. It's fantastic! Although they do have a store on Broadway in Lakeview, the selection there is fairly limited so this is definitely the way to go about your Threadless shopping. read more

The designs are cool, but the prices are reasonable only when there's a sale, and the tshirt fabric quality is poor (too thick, too rough, worse than or about the same as what you'd get from a tourist shop). There's another online tshirt company out there that uses American Apparel tshirts and those are a LOT better quality. read more

I love threadless, i used to order shirts years ago when you could only order shirts online. I was told by an employee at the store that I could go to the warehouse sift through shirts and buy whatever i wanted there. Great idea right? So we get there and the girl working the front desk was one of the most unpleasant, rude and disregarding people i have ever met! She didn't bother to greet us at all, until she proceeded to snottily yell at us when we didn't know where to go or look (keep in mind there are no shirts to sift through only hundreds of boxes and 2 computers you need to place your order on so the rude girl can go get them for you) When she finally told us we were not allowed to wonder around she delivered us no help and treated us like we were 3 years old. I was so appalled and flabbergasted that someone this unpleasant and rude could work for such an awesome company. We left in complete shock and it actually made us all want to never buy a shirt from threadless again! It ruined my perception of the company and if she still works there I hope she doesn't sabotage the business. In short it was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life and i will gladly pay the extra $3 to ship the shirt to my apartment a mere 1 mile from the warehouse than go there to have to deal with her in order to pick it up. Also, Keep in mind, this review is only for the warehouse, and is bad only because of that one girl, the people working at the store have ALWAYS been super friendly and pleasant. This place is great. You can place your order at one of their computers and pick it up immediately. Prices are very affordable. Everyone that I encountered that works here was smiley and helpful. If your order online, buy beware! There are no returns, and if you it's the wrong size, good luck getting it in a different one. I ordered three shirts, all in larges, and because they use different fabrics and fits for different designs, they all fitted differently. Needless to say, I'm stuck with one that's too big, one that's too small, and one that's just right. How are you going to be an online ordering company without a return policy? Ugh. read more

Don't trust Threadless! I ordered a shirt for a Christmas present and it never arrived. The Threadless customer support was very cumbersome and snotty to deal with. What they don't tell you is that they ship from Orlando, Florida and not Chicago. So if you think your order is only coming from Chicago, it's actually coming all the way from Florida. By US Postal service. So, it is a roll of the dice when your order will actually arrive or if it will ever arrive. I was counting on a Threadless shirt I ordered for a Christmas present and it never got here. Threadless did nothing about the situation. I really like the shirts that Threadless sells and I was sad when they closed their retail locations but ordering from them online is not an option. You place an order and your shirt never arrives! I spoke with Threadless customer service after I got a shirt through Nathan Pyle that was much larger than I expected. I emailed them and received a reply in less than an hour. Every email from them went above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied with my order - even though it was my fault that I didn't realize the sizing chart for this shirt. They not only offered to get me a different shirt, but also said that I could keep the original shirt to give or donate to some. I couldn't believe how kind, generous, and prompt they were. I only recently heard about Threadless through another Yelper and I really am impressed by its selection and prices. If you want to support independent artists, wear something that looks sharp or find something that has a lot of bang for its buck, Threadless can hook you up with some cool clothing. Given that the actual store is in Chicago, this review is limited to my experience with their online store. Similar to Upper Playground, Threadless has many unique and intelligent designs to choose from ranging from t-shirts, hoodies and even iPhone cases. Some are humorous, some are dark and others are just plain cool. I can't really describe them decently since they are all so varied, you'll just have to look them up via their website. I hate to shop for clothes(I'm a guy, go figure), but when I do I really hate buying stuff that has a brand name tagged all over it. Finding stuff that both looks good and is inexpensive is difficult, but believe it or not, most of Threadless is under $30! Buying a nice t-shirt for $10 is really unheard of, but they have them! Whether you are a guy or gal, they have something for you and for the money, you have nothing to lose! read more

if you want the ENTIRE selection of threadless t's this is the place to go. if you live in the city you can come here and pick up your shirts immediately after placing your order on one of their computers. this place saved me last christmas when i was getting my brother's gift. got him a nice assortment of t's and was able to check them out immediately to see how they looked. sometimes you just gotta touch, feel, and see what something looks like no matter how many pictures are posted online. they had all the different brands of shirts they print on sample shirts to try on for fit/size, which makes ordering easier. once the order was placed, one of the employees scampered around to collect my items and i was out of their relatively quickly. i've been to the other regular retail stores but the selection is so limited (compared to the warehouse) and changes frequently. the stores are good for a quick pick-up, but for some major purchasing i will always head to the warehouse. doesn't hurt that it's no more than 5min away from my house. very surprised that nobody has reviewed this place yet, but i'm glad to get the word out. sidenote: the office is AMAZING. makes me want to quit my job and come work here, even if it was just to maintain the ping-pong table or clean the trailer that is inside the place. the trailer was also useful for trying on the shirts to check for size without flashing everyone. tons of video games, couches and happy looking people. trying to convince my husband to apply for the developer job here ;) overall, this will be my go-to destination for anything threadless. employees are nice, quick and efficient service, and you can play old school donkey kong while you wait for your order. love it! read more

I used their online store and choose standard shipping with pre-paid customs. The tracking number I was given said the package was coming from Denver to my out in Vancouver Canada ( a long way, but not further than places within the continental United States). This was on March 27th, 2017. The package was sent to Melrose IL, then to Richmond Hill ON. That's 2,610km to the east of Denver, in the wrong direction if you're trying to get to Vancouver. Why? Who goes east to get west? Now that it's arrived with Canada Post, it will be shipped back across most of the continent, another 4000 ish km. I used google maps to estimate the trip assuming now that the package is in Canada, it's going to travel on Canadian roads. Are you ready for the final numbers? 6964 KM total distance. And another 1-11 business days. I'm shocked. That's an outrageous distance. 7000km for them to get to me? So much waste. Too much. Is this really your business practice? Have I fundamentally misunderstood something here? I wish I could say I'm not angry, that I'm just disappointed, but actually I'm pretty angry with you too. This is just irresponsible. read more

I caught on to the Threadless website after finding the clothes in stores at the mall quite boring and repetitive. It was hard to find something that didn't look the same. Also, I'm also an art lover so when I found Threadless, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Unique clothing made from artist submitted work and voted on by the users (the customers). So far, I have about four shirts and one hoodie from this site. In general I love every piece I've got. Though, I feel like the hoodie could have been made of a little bit better quality. (the threads seemed to come loose... and no that's not a play on the stores name) Anyway, another thing I love is that they have sales often. But.. I feel like the staff in the customer service department is a little pretentious. Over the years, the website and store have grown and they flourish in an abundance of sales due to this. This is great for them and hey, I'm happy for them. I too am one of those people who buy. Once I caught wind of this awesome site, I ended up ordering three shirts within weeks of each other.. then when I wanted to order a fourth.. I ended up politely asking if there was anyway I could get a small 10% off discount (I didn't end up buying the shirts all together because I didn't find them together, so I ended up paying for shipping multiple times) Asking for a small is almost nothing to these guys. So basically, I was shot down cold and told that my orders were far apart.. I found that a little annoying because you'd think someone who is such a regular customer (their shirt/hoodie's were $20+) they would want to keep happy. Also, at other websites I shop at, they send you coupons once you start buying more than a single item.
