They have a second floor and a first floor that is vast and has everything you need for outdoor outdoors or indoor sports and hiking and camping. They also have a co-op mentality where you can own a piece of the store. They also are able to have things on sale and clearance because they also buy back used items and you get it for more than half the price off. I love the store because it's also right on a waterfront where you have a walk and you have artistic chairs and lots of geese and people come fishing. It's a wonderful location. And the staff are really nice and friendly.

Upon arrival I approached an employee at the counter, scrolling on his phone. When I walked up to the desk I was given a very curt, "Hi," like it was somehow a d*ck move on my part to interrupt him with a question. Surprise surprise, he had no idea what I was talking about. Turns out that the website is shite for actually keeping stock updated because they weren't even available here to begin with. To summarize, bad website information caused me to waste a trip, and bad customer service caused me to decide my business might be better placed elsewhere. Truly tragic, as I did love this company, once upon a time.

I really appreciated how quickly he did it and took the time to explain everything to me. Zach was also very helpful in helping me find my bindings. Backcountry uses DoorDash for "last-mile" delivery in the city, but their security standards are nonexistent. In my case, the driver dropped my package in an unsecure, open area and failed to ring the doorbell or knock. Despite the fact that I worked from home on the day specifically to ensure I was present for deliveries, the package was stolen by a porch pirate before I even saw the notification. When I contacted customer service, they were completely dismissive. They refused to offer a reorder or investigate the delivery failure, essentially stating that their responsibility ends the moment the package touches the ground--regardless of where or how it was left. If you live in an urban area where package theft is a concern, do not trust this company with your money online. Their "completed delivery" policy offers zero protection against negligent couriers. Unless you can buy it in-store and walk out with it, I recommend taking your business to a retailer with more accountable shipping practices.

Our bank account took a hit today for sure. But the items you find here are going to last, so that's the silver lining. My first stop today in my cold weather shopping spree was a children's consignment store in the suburbs, and happened to find a Patagonia snow bib there in near perfect condition so that made me feel much better about the investment. Here at the Patagonia store, I bought a snow jacket, some fleece pants and a base layer pant, and a hat. We wandered into the Worn Wear section and they had a small section of children's items there, too, where I picked up another pair of fleece and a pair of snow pants. Their children's section was a bit smaller than I anticipated. They had coats, snow bibs, some pants, and so on, but they only had a single size of each at most. But I was able to get what I needed with the exception of a neck warmer, and I will admit to being a bit surprised they didn't carry that sort of item. They had a small play area! I wasn't expecting that at all but it definitely helped with a finicky two year old who woke from a car nap when we got to this store. It's not much--a small table with some blocks and a shape sorter--but it was enough for her to have fun and keep her occupied while I was deciding what I wanted which is worth a looooooooT. Parking was astonishingly easy for an early Saturday afternoon. We found a spot immediately and there were others around too. It is toward the outer edge of the Fulton Market district, but I still was expecting to have to drive around for a while or abandon the excursion altogether. Pay to park using the ParkChicago app.

My husband had some issues with his too. We brought them into the store. It's February, and we are in Chicago. I was worried that I would have to part with my coat for the repairs, but the repairs were made in the short time that we waited. :) I love that the Patagonia moto is, "if it is broken, then fix it". Not many retailers have that attitude. That is one of the reason that we buy garments from Patagonia! Thank you.
