Just had my eyebrows and upper lip taken care of by Rani and it was amazing! It was my first time experiencing threading and Rani was very gentle and polite. The work was fast and excellent, my brows were tidied up in record time and styled perfectly. It's out of the way for me, especially during rush hour but I am very pleased with the results so I'll absolutely return. Having just moved to the area from Chicago I spent 3 months avoiding the task of finding a new eyebrow guru but I'm glad I finally found her. Her threading method feels sort of like plucking in that she's very precise, making sure she doesn't take out too much hair and it feels like she's literally extracting one strand at a time, so the process lasted longer than usual but the results are worth the wait. She also lets you see one eyebrow shape before completing both, which helps her adjust to your liking before it's too late - something one of the other reviews mentioned. She's receptive to feedback. If you've ever had a threader not listen to what you want, you know how frustrating that is but she took all my requests into consideration. It's pricier than any other eyebrow threading i've had. In Chicago it was $15... on the higher end but I know things are different here and if you're like me and your eyebrows are the thing that makes or breaks your look, then it won't matter as much. read more

Doesn't really care about you or your eyebrows. She's on the phone during the entire appointment, she's always running late, and she does the whole appointment with you lying down, which screws with your symmetry. Also not hygienic so I've broken out all around my eyebrows. My perfect shape got totally ruined coming to her. Don't recommend at all. She doesn't care as much as other threaders I've been to that really take 30-40 minutes per client making sure the symmetry is on point. read more

I love love love Rani! I have seriously sensitive skin and am so glad that I discovered threading. I always got waxed in the past and it was never a great experience for me, always more painful than I expected it to be. Enter threading with Rani. Not anywhere near as painful and it seems to last longer. Since $20 with tip included seems to be about the going rate in DC these days, I was okay with it since the pain was so much more minimal compared with waxing. Now if only I could have transported Rani with me to Boston when I moved!! read more

My first experience attending Rani's spa was when I bought a groupon to the location. The place was not difficult to find because I called ahead to make a reservation (as required for the groupon). The staff were professional and courteous and provided me with detailed directions to their spa. I was in a rush so the staff were very accommodating and fit me in a bit earlier than my scheduled appointment. As for the eyebrow threading--I've never had a quite so painless, professional, meticulous job done on my naturally unmanageable eyebrows. I stopped getting my eyebrows waxed because my skin is very sensitive. I had Rani thread my eyebrows (and was a little nervous as it was my first time). My best friend warned me that inexperienced threaders often make it feel like your face is being sliced with razor blades. Thankfully, she is very experienced and quick. Full-disclosure - Rani recently, hired me to record the voice over message for her threading business. With that out of the way, I'll say that Rani has given me two very lovely eyebrow threadings. My first experience with threading was at a salon in NYC and I thought I would die, DIE, at the torture of it. I was quite literally balled up in the chair from the pain. It was only at Rani's insistence of her gentle touch that I went under-the-thread again. She indeed does have a very gentle touch. I'm almost reluctant to write this review because I'm selfish with Rani and don't want her to get so busy that I can't get an appointment with her...but she's a really sweet lady and supporting a young family, so I'll let you ladies in on the secret. Honestly, the best brow job I have ever had in my life. I found her via online reviews as well, about 6 months ago, and have been in her chair twice a month since then. I came to see Rani without a prior appointment and on an emergency basis with a damamaged eyebrow from previous hair waxing treatment in a nail shop across the street. Rani helped redesign my eyebrows to cover the damaged area, and left enough areas for growth where I was able still modify my eyebrow design as they grow. Since then, it has been 9 months now, I have been using Rani's services, cause I am quite confident of her work and sense of eyebrow design and threading skills. Personality wise, Rani is great in keeping up with client relations, with a cost lower than waxing eyebrow nail shops by 5 dollars. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for years. I moved to DC from Boston 2 1/2 years ago. Previous salons have threaded my eyebrows too thinly or shaped them artificially. Rani takes her time, and shapes your eyebrows according to your individual facial structure. I get so many compliments on my eyebrows, it is unreal--from random people! I went to Costco the other day, and the cashier told me how beautiful my eyebrows were. A couple weeks before that, I went to a deli, and gave out Rani's info to another customer in line. Omg I hated my eyebrows after coming here and it unfortunately took me 3 months to notice. I loved it the first time she did my eyebrows and then suddenly she started asking if I was plucking my eyebrows. Ummm as much as I pay you, why would I pluck my eyebrows?! It wasn't until a few days later I started noticing how terrible my eyebrows were... thin, uneven, and completely noticeable in pictures. Left her and started going somewhere else and it's finally growing back to normal and my new eyebrow lady is way nicer and attentive ;-) read more

A lot of complaints are similar to mine. After being referred to Rani from a coworker I decided to give her a try. The first time I visited she seemed really nice. Gave me great pointers as to how i need to feel my eyebrows in however after my second and third visit i noticed her getting a bit more relaxed and not to mentioned annoyed! She took personal phone calls, her son was in the shop (which I would not mind) however he kept talking to her in the middle of doing my eyebrows!! I'm paying for your undivided attention! My last straw had to be when she had her dog downstairs in the middle of her working! SMH this was unprofessional to say the least. As much as i want to give her another shot I simply can't pay someone who seems to not care about her customers. read more

Rani does an amazing job threading eyebrows! I recently moved to Arlington from Baltimore and had a hard time finding a new threading salon, until I found Rani! I'm very particular with my eyebrows, I like a full and natural looking shape - not thin and super arched, it just doesn't look good on me. I started with another salon, which shall remain unnamed (a friend's salon), and she did a decent enough job the first time for me to go back again. However, the second time, I left in tears. My eyebrows were super thin and didn't even match, which was extremely irritating given that I went in for my appointment with full eyebrows.. if she was going to thin them, the least she could've done was made them match. I let them grow out for a few weeks and went to Rani. I discussed my situation with her and she handled it like a true professional. She knew exactly what I wanted and helped me get there. It took a few months for my eyebrows to grow back, but they're finally almost there now - all thanks to Rani. She knew exactly where to leave hairs and where my eyebrows needed to fill in, yet still managed to clean them up and make them look as nice as possible after every appointment given the prior botched threading job. What she does is truly an art. My eyebrows keep looking better and better after every appointment. I always leave with a huge smile on my face. I go in once every two weeks and never touch them in between appointments. AND you can make your appointments online which is super convenient! Side note - the receptionist at the salon downstairs has a major attitude problem, but you don't ever have to deal with them. I make my appointment online and walk straight past the desk right upstairs to Rani to get beautified! read more

After "hit and miss" eyebrow threading experiences with Threads, I'm glad to have found Rania. She did an amazing job, solicits feedback, and is quick. The only downside for me is that she is located in the upper NW neighborhood, but definitely worth the time for a guaranteed quality and satisfactory threading experience. I highly recommend. This is my first ever 5/5 review, and Rani totally deserves it! She was very friendly and extremely skilled and precise with eyebrow threading. The shop was a little hard to find for me because I had never been in the area. You can park at whole foods and walk down a few shops and it's the upstairs part of a salon. Before I went I couldn't imagine paying $20 to get my eyebrows done, but it's average priced for DC and totally worth it. She even gave me great tips on managing my eyebrows and getting them to grow thicker. This is definitely going to be my go to eyebrow place! read more
