Truly an eyebrow artist! I have been going to Rani for over four years for eyebrow threading. She is absolutely amazing with a piece of thread. Rani always shapes my eyebrows perfectly, even when I cheat on her and go see another eyebrow threader in between our visits. Haha. In the past month and a half, I have seen Rani twice for her new service of microblading; the second time was the touch up which I probably didn't even need because the first time she did it they were perfect. I have been looking for eyebrow tattooing for a little over a year but never committed to going because I couldn't find anyone skilled and trustworthy. I was so happy to hear that Rani was licensed to microblade which is so much better than getting a permanent eyebrow tattoo. With this technique, I no longer have to fill my eyebrows in every morning. I just wake up and they are there looking beautiful and so natural. She literally paints each strand so it looks like hair, not just a blob of pigment. And it matches my eyebrow color spot on! I will continue to go to Rani for all of my eyebrow needs. Rani is skilled, I will certainly give her that. I was always happy with my eyebrows and she gave me some useful tips on growing back thin spots I'd over plucked. I stopped going to her though because I always ended up waiting far beyond my appointment time and she consistently took personal phone calls during my service without explanation and sometimes without apology. One visit, after waiting 15 minutes after my appointment time, I sat awkwardly while she proceeded to have an extended social chat with a coworker without even acknowledging me. I had set aside my lunch hour to get my eyebrows cleaned up and even though I worked just down the street, I was late getting back. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. I will preface this review by saying that its been about 4-5 months since ive visited Rani. Rani is a very nice lady with obvious talent however I wasn't impressed with the customer service. She would discuss work related issues that she was having regarding her obvious disagreement with the establishment she was working out of. She seemed a bit unstable with her work location telling onw customer that she waa looking to work out of her house. Once I was seated, my brows were wonderfully done but then asked if I had cash. I always thought my eyebrows were alright since my sisters are the ones who gave me the shape at the age of 12. I never really liked how the inside ends were heavier than I would have liked. But I was always told to not touch the thickness. I decided since moving to DC 6 months ago that I would seek out the opinion of someone with plenty of experience. I got to my appointment early and immediately began to relax because I had a great view of the young woman Rani was working on at that time. While threading her eyebrows Rani's eyes got larger and she didn't even blink. While threading she was serious and focused which was a stark contrast to the welcoming smile and chat I received from her upon arrival. When it was my turn she accessed my brows quickly and was forthright with her opinion and what she thought should be done. I was prepared to put myself (brows) in her hands. So glad I did. After one brow was done I got up and looked in the mirror. The changes she made gave me eyes that appeared larger. It really opened them up. I can't wait to take photos because in the past I have always looked sleepy but I think with this difference I will not look so sleepy. After balancing my brows I told her I was getting new glasses on Monday. She gave me another opinion for free. She said that I needed to get more fashionable glasses that are closer to my face and flat. I am soooo very excited. Thanks! I don't want it to sound as if she is opinionated to that annoying point. Review is in regards to the receptionist/front desk service, not Rani's services. I called to inquire about Rani's henna services since I have a maternity shoot coming up this week, and wanted to see if she was available to do a henna on my stomach. Receptionist VERY rudely said in a matter-of-fact tone that she had no idea what I was talking about and Rani didn't offer these services then quickly hung up. Funny, her other reviews says she does hennas/mehndis. That was one seriously delusional receptionist. Definitely didn't leave a great first impression with me. Being a woman of contradictions I do not spend much time on my appearance but I sure don't want to LOOK like a woman who doesnt spend a lot of time on her appearance. With that in mind I decided it was time to do something about my eyebrows. Also my neice's little kid suggestion that I might make an excellent witch for Halloween did come into play. I found Rani through Yelp and I was really pleased. A Saturday morning appointment meant a trip in to DC and time for brunch at Cafe Deluxe across the street afterward. This was my first experience with threading so I don't have anything to compare it to. I will say, that compared with waxing, I found it much less painful. Also it was nice not to be on display in the middle of a shop full of people getting mani pedi's. Rani took my direction: "Not too thin" well and moved slowly forward to make sure she was complying. She put in a nice arch and got rid of the ick that needed to be gotten rid of. The brows ended up looking like a cleaner version of what was already there, which is excactly what I asked for. Rani's fantastic! After trying a threading place near my job (and mostly hating it), I gave up on finding a good threading place in DC. I decided to turn to Yelp and found Rani. With so many great reviews-i crossed my fingers and gave her a try. The first time I went was right before a BIG birthday-she was fabulous. She asked what I was looking for-gave suggestions for have based in my face and then did a beautiful job threading. When I commented on the beautiful henna she had in her hand and said how I've always wanted tI get it done-she offered to do my hand! I left with flawless eyebrows and the most gorgeous henna just in time for my birthday! She's so friendly, very warm a talented threader and a wonderful henna artist. Based on the reviews on Yelp, i drove 1.5hrs from Maryland to see Rani. I grew my eyebrows out for over a month so that I could get a thicker shape (i hope to never do that again lol). I'm still on the fence about my brows. I guess i'm used to them being a bit sharper..not harshly, drag-queenly sharp...but you know. BUT...Rani gave me a natural shape that appears I could've grown myself (if my natural eyebrows were not caterpillar-esque). What i LOVE about Rani is that she does one eyebrow and lets you see it to see if you like it. I like this much better than the waxers I've been to who hack my whole brow off and then hand me a mirror at the end. She was very nice. Even wiped away my tears....because after over a month of hair...there were tears. But she was definitely thorough. Took her time, but not alot of time, to make sure they were even. My eyebrows have been butchered and massacred by so many individuals who claim to be "experts." Going to Rani was a breath of fresh air. She made my eyebrows look absolutely amazing - not too thin (which I hate on my face) and the perfect arch. Unlike others she really takes into consideration the size and shape of your face. Listen. Rani is a goddess and I can't let anyone else touch my brows. At first I thought I was being ridiculous and maybe I could get the look she gave me from any place. This is why I shouldn't argue with my "last minute, don't have time to get to Georgetown panic" self. Because of conflicting schedules and the fact that Guven is truly out of the way, there were times I couldn't get to her and so I tried my old waxing lady and also the threading place in the mall. No. I'm now back in the awkward growing out phase waiting until the next time rani can, quite literally, transform my face. I can't say this for every visit but when your brows are all grown out she really takes her time to discuss your shape and frame your face. I absolutely loved her. She fixed my eyebrows and took her time doing it. She was so professional but also friendly. I don't have very thick eyebrows so I have to be careful too much isn't taken off. I had a mendhi party over the weekend with some of my top girls. I found Rani through an advertisement and, having wanted to do this Goddess Party for more than 2 years, I sent her an email, immediately to inquire whether she did this type of party. She said she'd love to do it and sent me some photos of her work. All of our communications, from start to finish were easy and comfortable. She was willing to accomodate my group in whatever way she could. But it was not until she started doing the Mendhi, that I saw how talented she is! She just "does her thing" and the designs were beautiful. Everyone loved what she did. We had a great party and Rani was a hit. Rani threaded my eyebrows, however I went home immediately to add Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow to fill in my brows a bit more. (I use a Hakuhodo brow brush) Note: I've been seeing Rani for the past couple of years and she's kept my brows in great shape/health. Your brows are on your face therefore one MUST keep them on "fleek" as they say. Go see Rani she is the eyebrow goddess & you won't be disappointed. Hands down the best brow expert ever. I drove about an hour and a half every two weeks or longer if my brows didn't look too bad to see her. She's always made me feel confident leaving the salon because she's really that good. Never made my brows too skinny. I never had to tell her what I want, she just knows what to do to make you look your best. I really wish I was close enough to her but since I'm at the opposite side of the country now that's not happening. Really recommend her to everyone. There isn't much to say other than Rani is the best there is and I have much love for her! She is extremely skilled and effieicent. I sit back in her chair, she does her magic, and 15 minutes later I babble about how she made me pretty again. She gets her 20, I tell her I'll she her same time, same place in 4 weeks and I'm on my way. She is great at maintaingin arches, she makes suggestions on how to maintain them and help them grow, and the whole process isn't as painful as other hair removal techniques. I went to see Rani twice... the first time, I was really hopeful, she seemed like she really knew what she was doing. My eyebrows had been really messed up so I had grown them out for over two months. Rani barely took anything off, she just cleaned them up a bit and said we'd leave the rest to grow out so she can work on them gradually and bring the shape back. I was happy with this plan... My second appointment... I think she completely forgot who I was or that she had a plan, even though I reminded her... she made my eyebrows uneven and one of them was short!!! She also made them SO far apart!! When i saw the separation between my brows, I asked her why she took so much off? I'd worked so hard at them growing back... her response? well... I had to. WTF lady... I grew them out like you told me to and then you just rip them all out?! She had another customer waiting too and they exchanged some words in another language after I made my comment which I thought was also completely rude and disrespectful.
