Mimi charged me $350 for a full set of hybrid lashes. I did not realize this price was appalling until I did additional research for lash studios in the DC and Arlington area. $350 is nearly DOUBLE the price of most lash studios in DC/Arlington that have similarly great reviews on Yelp. I am not sure if this place ripped me off because I was a first-time client, but this does not sound right. Shame on me for not doing additional research before coming to this place. Warning: This review is for my last experience with Wow Lash. Never ever let them upsell you on getting a wax done. I've never in my life had such a bad dermatitis reaction on my face until after I experienced a wax with them. I am very close to my wedding day and I'm in a nightmare- my skin is covered in red and white bumps. After going to the doctor and speaking to others in the medical profession, bacterial infections can occur when they use the same wax strip in numerous locations, which is exactly what happened. After sharing photos, doctors prescriptions and a printed form on dermatitis from the doctor, I experienced so much backlash and frustration from this company. They offered to give me a discount on my next service with them but continued to make excuses that it's likely my rash wasn't from my experience with them. The owner also argued with me that the technician did not wax the area which became infected- completely untrue and so exhausting trying to communication with her. Mimi and Emmy will rip you off with a smile on their faces and they will destroy your real eye lashes and harm your eye health with their unrefined methods and cheap eyelash glue. All I can say is WOW! Its hard to imagine my life without these lash extensions now. My first visit was with Emmy. She did a very good job of making sure she showed me pictures and understood what I wanted. The full set takes about 2 hours. The owner MiMi, contacted me via text about 2 weeks later to see if I was ready for a fill. There was some back and forth about the date and time and in the end I just kind of, popped up at the shop. Mimi had someone come in to assist me. I wasn't 100 percent pleased with my fill (the technician did what I requested but I wasn't prepared for the dramatic change and panicked!) I communicated that I wasn't sure I liked this particular look to MiMi later on that night. She contacted me the next morning to schedule me to come back in so that she could revise my lashes. I actually ended up seeing Emmy (Mimi herself wanted to assist me but due to a scheduling conflict, I requested and earlier appt and Emmy was available)... she was awesome(again!). The lashes have amazing staying power. You could probably go 3 to 4 weeks before you NEED a fill in, albeit with a few lashes gone. Emmy is now the only technician I will book. She is super sweet and will make sure you are happy! Emmy and Mimi, your customer service is A++++! Pro-tips - bring a sweater or wear long sleeves..the room gets very cool. - bring an ipod/phone with earbuds. I got a volume cat eye - which meant I needed no eye make up! I would get refills every ~4 weeks, which seemed enough. I saw her throughout my pregnancy and she worked hard to make me comfortable. I have been here three times now for my lashes. Every time she was late. The first time her car broke down and she had to rearrange for another day (understandable) but not until after I waited over an hour outside. The second time her flight was delayed and was over an hour late and I was left waiting outside. I decided to give it one more chance. The third time, I got a text to say she'd be there in 7 minutes and was 15 minutes late. On top of that, she rushed in while on the phone with barely a 'hello' and didn't wash her hands before the service despite just having come straight from her journey there. She also never stopped talking on her call until after she'd finished. She was sneezing and didn't wear a mask. My eye's stung badly and I felt she was not paying attention to the service or hygiene. I do NOT recommend going here. I saw all of these beautiful images of brows/ tinting and decided to get my brows tinted for the first time here. It cost me $50 for a terrible job. The lady who did my brows was very nice, just not talented. My brows are now two very different shapes and the tinting didn't help. I'm currently searching oils that can remove tinting quicker I can find a salon/ studio that can fix this. If a place cannot wax and tint eyebrows correctly, I would not recommend trying anything more permanent. Please see video below for my end results. Background: I have done extensions at least 20+ times with 5+ different lash artists. My experience here was pretty decent, not stellar, and there are a few caveats: -The bonding glue did not react well with my lids. This was the first experience where lash extensions were legitimately painful. I wasn't sure if the pain was from the glue but it also felt like the technician was pulling at my lash while trying to rearrange the extensions. There was this moderately uncomfortable "pulling" pain for the whole duration of the service, and then my eye was swollen the next day (albeit mildly, or I would have requested them be removed)! -However, the integrity of these lashes is incredible. The staying power has been the best of any of my previous extensions. I'm over a week in and have experienced zero lash loss, although they are all sort of poking in different directions :/ but as for falling out and leaving clusters of blank areas, this has held up way better than other lashes! Perhaps the strength of this glue was more intense and related to the irritation I felt. -I do not like the actual visual look of these lashes. Granted, I only ordered a half set, but I prefer short and voluminous rather than long/spidery and sparse. Most technicians ask you what your style is and let you choose. She did not and after I expressed shock with the results she reacted in a defensive manner. I wasn't pleased entirely with the customer service. If you come here, be upfront with your desire and style before you let her do her standard deal. Most of the times I trust my technicians with the style but this was one of the rare times where I didn't like the look she designed for me (and I definitely did not like her telling me that her design was better than the look I would have rather had...) -Overpriced. A half set here was 170 with tip! In Columbus, you can get prettier FULL sets at that price. In Richmond, full sets are as low as 100. In NYC, high quality full sets for Asian gals like me performed by Asian gals with experience doing Asian lashes are around 100. Maybe D.C. is not the city for lash extensions but at prices of 250+ for a full set when you can get that easily for half or less at most other cities seals the deal for me to never return. If you're stuck in D.C., I'm unsure if there are better options in terms of value. Summary: an average experience, the reviews are surprisingly overhyped (make sure 5 star reviewers are experienced lash extension customers and have tried extensions multiple times by a variety of lash technicians because if this is the only place they tried they'll obviously say it was the best they've tried...), the lash glue is strong and could irritate you, there's more discomfort in her service than I've ever felt at other places, she might not be agreeable about your preferred look and stick to her standard designs, the prices are not sustainable for long term, and all these factors are why I'd keep looking if I were you. 3 stars because even with all these cons, lashes that stay on so well after more than a week do deserve higher than 2 star ratings. Linn is absolutely amazing, I have been absolutely everywhere in the DC Maryland and Virginia area looking for an affordable mink lashes stylus that also knew what she was doing. She has Great prices for the work that she does. I've paid all the way up to $400 for my lashes for them not to last longer than eight days, and to sit down with my eyes closed for four hours. Four hours is absolutely ridiculous so when she had me in here for 2 hrs for the volume set it great. I even fell asleep in her chair and the environment is so peaceful since it is just her right now I was able to go right to sleep. Usually I am very nervous and uncomfortable leaving my eyes shut with tape on them for such a long period of time while someone is messing with my eyelashes, but I am very comfortable with Linn and I trust that she'll do a good job. I am also a make up artist so I'm very picky with what lashes should look like, and I have a hard time with other people touching my face. She is very gentle, it does not hurt your eye, ever which is also a first. A lot of times The other lash artist use a cheap or old glue so it tends to burn the eye, even when I accidentally open my eye while getting my lashes done by Linn, it still does not burn. This is a great make lash studio and it's in the same space as a hair salon which is also great, so they make it really convenient so that you can get your hair done and your lashes done if you would like. Linn told me that she will start doing 3-D microblading eyebrows in 2017 which I am also looking for another great eyebrow tattoo artist.
