Very upset by having to update my review for one-star review. I have been going here frequently as my go-to threading spot. In previous experiences, i have seen them be experts who patiently listen and craft your eyebrows. But then my favorite thread-er, Sonali, had moved. When i entered today I was seen by someone named NC? Her initials possibly? I tried to explain to her how I just wanted cleaning and no shaping. I like my eyebrows longer and thicker and she didn't listen at all. She thinned them out and gave the right one a weird shape, instead of just following my brows and just cleaning. My eyes were clearly welling up with tears. When she asked if I liked it, I couldn't even lie. I said, "No i don't. This is exactly what I asked you not to do. It is what it is but hopefully, it grows back" I'm very frustrated by this experience and unfortunately will have to find another threading salon in the area. Does anyone have suggestions? read more

Felt safe coming here so far, especially when I got someone who used the threading necklace device so there was no contact with their mouth (Mona uses the double mask method so still no direct contact). I think I prefer the threading necklace method but have had great results both ways and appreciate the salon accommodations for increased safety. But either way it was overall a good experience given the circumstances. And it's never been crowded. update: also love that the salon responded to my comment right away! I went to Thread a little over a month ago and got my eyebrows done and I absolutely love them! I have never felt so confident in my life. Then, I heard that Thread was doing lashes and I had to try them out! I got my lashes done by Maya and OMG she is amazing! I had to go back and get my lashes filled by her, and man did she not disappoint! I LOVE this place and could not imagine not coming here 10/10! My eyebrows are deeply personal to me. So when I realized I wouldn't be able to go to my usual threading place because of scheduling before a big event, I was pretty worried. After scouring yelp reviews for places close to my current location, I came across Thread. The things that are most important to me when it comes to who does my eyebrows are skill level, intuition (to know what I don't know), and ability to listen. The reviews seemed to hint that this was the place for me. And boy was I not disappointed. I came in the middle of a weekday so it wasn't packed at all. In fact, I was attended to immediately. I sat down and she immediately asked me what I wanted. I have an issue with people threading off too much at the ends of my brows so I made sure to tell her not to do that. She got to work and cleaned them up really nicely. Then she had me review it, I gave my feedback and she went back in to give my eyebrows the arch I wanted. My eyebrows ended up slightly thinner than I typically prefer but I was still really pleased! I'm just so happy I was able to get my eyebrows done before my big event and not be disappointed. The place was also pretty easy to find and neat and professional on the inside. I don't live close to this location but I'd definitely come back if it were ever convenient. read more

I'm giving 3 stars because I've been a few times and saw Mona and she was GREAT. She gets 5 stars... However, I got another girl this time and my eyebrows are completely uneven and have no shape. I specifically asked for my eyebrows to just be cleaned up not smaller. That's not what I got. It's still a bit over grown on one side, too. She was also not friendly. I have my brothers wedding this weekend and will have to pencil in shape on my brows because I don't want them to look like this in pictures. I've been going to thread and this exact location for about 5 years. The salon is extremely clean, the ladies are super quick with service and all in all is a pleasant experience. The salon workers also keep you up to date on the newest hair removal services. They just had a special for hard wax so I went ahead and tried it. Amazing! It took a few extra mins but the pain level was cut by 50%. I suggest trying hard wax when you visit. read more

The lady that threaded my eyebrows ended up messing them up, and made one way thinner and lower than the other. When I confronted her all she said was "it's too late and just too draw them thicker until they grew back", after she denied a couple of time that they were uneven. The lady DID NO APOLOGIZE or look apologetic. And still charged me for the service regardless the fact I specifically said not to make them thinner and keep them the say. I came here based on Yelp. I'm fresh from an eyebrow threading and basic facial. The aesthetician who worked on me was Nagma (sp.?) This was my first time trying threading...it was more painful than I had hoped for but very quick . The facial was a good scrub down with a little bit of extraction, now my face feels soft like a baby's bottom :P The place looked clean and I didn't see any major health code violation type things. There was new agey music playing the entire facial and some candles were lit. I have worked with a few of the technicians here and they are all good for brow threading but I recommend using NC! I asked her for help after I noticed that one of my brows was thinner than the other and after multiple sessions with her we both noticed that my brows have evened out again. Love this place! I asked for Mona since it was my first time here last week and other yelpers recommended her. When i entered the spa and asked for Mona, the other specialists didn't give me the stink eye, they were very professional about it. That's one thing that I really liked about this place, they were just super professional and efficient. So although I'd recommend Mona because I've only had her do my brows, I think any of them would be really good. I also really liked the interior of this place. It was clean yet modern, but somehow had it's own personality to it. The seats were super comfortable for threading and the lighting is good too. Everything is hidden behind the mirror which is why the place is so sleek. I've been a loyal Hibba member for awhile but have been frustrated with their service for awhile now which is why I wanted to try somewhere new and I'm so glad I did. I came here to get my eyebrows done for the first time during the pandemic. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable, i.e., $12 to get your eyebrows waxed. Although there were no other clients when I went, the seats are adequately spaced for social distancing. The staff all wore masks, but no glove usage (I assume they wash their hands beforehand or maybe the gloves prevent them from doing a precise waxing or threading job). For further precision, she used the necklace method for threading to avoid any mouth contact. Overall, everything was great! I usually go to the East Village location of Thread, but this one is closer to my office. I love that you can just walk in and be serviced. The threading doesn't take more than 10 minutes. It always hurts more than I remember and my eyes are usually watering a bit by the end of it, but it beats doing an imperfect job via plucking any day. I was debating going since I had somewhat plucked my eyebrows over the weekend. But since I hadn't had my eyebrows threaded in over a month, I decided to go. I have to say, every time I've gone, I was never truly satisfied with how my services turnout out or how I was treated by particular technicians. I simply kept coming back for convenience. I walked in on a Saturday and got seated immediately. There were two women working - one clearly more experienced (perhaps the owner) who did my brows in ~10 minutes and one who took more time to get her lines right. This was my first time getting threading in the US, and it was still less painful than waxing but not as painless as when I got it done in India (perhaps they used different quality thread). The salon is clean and modern, and the $8 cash-only price plus frequent buyer card makes it easy on the wallet too. I'll reserve my 5-star rating for a threader that can do it painlessly. read more

I gotta say, I made it 7 months during quarantine without a professional touching my brows. I thought I did a decent job at upkeep but the last few days, I looked in the mirror and saw a horror show and realized I finally needed a professional. My usual salon and brow artist (Renu at Hibba Madison) is incredible, but the midtown location is temporarily closed so I had to go elsewhere. I'm an Indian girl who has been all about threading since I was 11 and I'm terrified of anyone touching my brows. Enter Mona. That woman is a damn Picasso.
