The website lists a $25 Brazilian special, which is common for the area and their sister businesses. I came prepared to pay the advertised price plus tax and a generous tip. I mentioned the pricing from their website at check-in, but at checkout, I was told they no longer honor that price because their website is outdated. Both the owner and waxer were extremely rude. If your prices aren't current after 2+ years, take the website down. I won't be returning and don't recommend this place. Didn't hear of them through word of mouth, not even on Yelp. Happened to walked by on one of those days you're gallivanting through Times Square/Garment District and caught the attention of a sign that read Eyebrow Threading. For only $9, you don't even need an appointment for this simple and clean service. I needed a quick clean up while I was in town. Cheap and quick. $16 for eyebrow and upper lip threading. Walked in on a Sunday night at 6:30pm with no wait, and was out of there in 5-7 min. They're probably not as thorough as some other places but it was good enough to get the job done. Pre-COVID, I wouldn't have just let anybody touch my brows. Now, I've been becoming more and more bold, and trying out new brow threading places, mostly out of necessity and convenience. I figure, if they butcher my brows, I've got the time to let them grow out again since it's not like we're going anywhere anytime soon. I found Elegant Eyebrow Threading Salon via Yelp and it's conveniently located next to the Port Authority bus terminal. Yelp lists two locations of the same name in the area and I was actually looking for the other place, but found this one instead. The shop is small but they seem to be taking precautions as much as they can. They spray down each chair, and they use a new pair of gloves between each customer. Shamim (who is also the manager) did a great job. I told her my brows were uneven (one was thicker), so I wanted to do a reshape, but to keep it as thick as possible. I went there on Saturday (Sept. 2nd) to get my chin, upper and lower lip threaded. The lady insisted in waxing and then thread. I asked not, but she did anyway. I had to go back today (Sept. 4th) because my face looked hairy. The tech that was there said she was sorry and she would do it. This time, I had my eyebrows threaded as well. Long story short. I decided to go here since I arrived early to Port Authority to catch a bus. The location is great, just a few blocks away from the PABT. In general, the price for eyebrow threading ($8) in NYC can't be beat. I was also serviced quickly and she did more than just the threading (a bit of grooming and lotion). However, this was the most painful experience I had with threading. Part of it may have been because I was not specific. However, I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for six years, and I never had my brows look as skinny as they did from this salon. Because she took out so much hair, I think that is what made it more painful. As you can see in my picture, the shape of my right eyebrow is also a bit funky and the removal isn't clean. If you do come here for convenience, make sure you're specific with your expectations! read more

I always come to this location and I will never come back. Customer service means everything to me. I came in here to do my eyebrows + Mani pedi. 1. Eyebrows: the lady ask me what I wanted and I told. When her chair became available she tried to take someone else I was really confused and annoyed..... so I look in the mirror to see what's suppose to be finished brows. I seen there were hairs that needed to be removed. I ask the lady to remove it and she said no and casted me to other side while she shifted to another customer. I was really flabbergasted by the whole situation. 2. Pedicure : It seem as soon as I touch the water my feet was out and ready to get polish. There was no real cleaning. She was also very dismissive. Apparently she had an appointment, so again I was casted to the side. SIDE NOTE IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH SOMEONE DO NO TRY TO SQUEEZE PPL IN AND THEN HALF ASS IT. * BONUS * Here's the kicker when I was getting my pedicure done. I overheard the same lady that did my eyebrows ask her client did she want her to take off more hair or leave it... she was given options I didn't even have. 3. Samiam was very gentle and quick with threading. I highly recommend this hidden gem especially someone with sensitive skin

1) Upper lip threading: really rough, got sores (which I never get). 2) Pushed me on eyebrow threading despite me saying I wasn't ready. "You really need it." (I had maybe one or two strays, but more importantly, just provide the service I seek and let me be.) 3) This was most upsetting: I had to put on some foundation and some eyeliner. I had placed my bag on a chair by a mirror, which a Staff Member asked me to move to the couch. No problem. I put my bag on the couch and walked to the mirror with my foundation. I put it on and walked back to the couch to get my eyeliner. Staff Member says: "Can you not walk back and forth like this? Do it in one time." ??! What? It wasn't like people were getting massages. It wasn't a library. There were only two customers, both getting threading done. Neither customer said anything. I *always* use the mirror at the salon for my foundation and eyeliner after threading. I had never been here before, only walked in because I was in the area. Never going back, of course. That is some really strange, really rude behavior. Manhattan has SO MANY threading places per capita. Go anywhere else. read more

I LOVE this place -- It's the only place I go now for my waxing! Not only is it super conveniently located nearby Port Authority, but the staff (all of them) are super duper nice and knowledgeable. I would give this place zero stars if that was an option. I have been going to elegant for a few months (but to their second floor location). I tried the one on 40th Street for the first time. The lady who did my eyebrows was very very rough. Even after I asked her repeatedly to be soft, she continued without any care. I have cuts under my brow and she did not even take off the hair properly on my upper lip. After I complained to the owner/manager sitting there and asked for another lady, I was told that "she is doing her job"! To top it off, the lady insisted that I was lying and "all Indians seem to always have a problem"... this location is terrible. Gonna go back to the second floor location next time. read more

Came here instead of my regular place out of convenience. There were about five people waiting to get their brows done and two more people came in while I was waiting. There was only one lady working so I contemplated leaving but the first girls eyebrows looked really nice so I decided it was worth the wait. Conveniently enough another woman came and started doing brows but then the first woman left so it was back to one woman working and a long line. So then she charged the two girls ahead of me $12 instead of the listed $8. When it was finally my turn, she took off a bit more than I'm used to but my eyebrows are different shapes and they look relatively even which I can appreciate. One downside she cut me over ten times. It's two days later and the scabs are still visible. The first woman took her time with each customer but the second was definitely rushing-- I can understand and appreciate that she was trying to manage the line but it shouldn't be at the expense of quality. She also said it would be $12 at the register. When I asked her if the sign was wrong she had an OMG look on her face then rang me up for $8. I probably won't be back again because I like my normal places much more. Between the wait, the cuts, and people getting overcharged I'd say proceed with caution. It likely depends on who you get, maybe I just showed up at the wrong time read more

Elegant Eyebrow is awesome if you work in the midtown area. It was small, there was barley a wait and the girl who did my brows was extremely nice. She talked me through my brows, kept the thickness and really strived for threading that framed my face. The process was quick, painless and refreshing. I actually waited a while to do my brows, per usual as I usually fill them in. But with the service here, I'll start getting them done regularly. I've been coming to their 2nd floor location on 8th Avenue (you'll see the barbershop pole) to have my eyebrows cleaned up for 5+ years already. Their newer and smaller street level location (next to the bodega // on W. 40th Street) is $12 for eyebrow threading. It's only $7 if you walk literally around the corner and up 1 flight of stairs to their original salon. They rotate their aesthetician's between both locations. Cash is preferred because they charge a $2 "tax" if you want to pay with plastic (which used to be $1). read more

This is a review for the mani/pedi option at the 40th street location. I'm worried the woman did permanent damage to my nails. In addition to my polish being uneven and lumpy, she filed the tops of my natural nails with an electric file. I looked down as she was doing it, horrified. I already have weak toenails, and I know at least one of them is now going to split. This is sloppy, horrible and cutting corners. She also cut off about 50% of the toenail on one of my toes, and I had to asked her multiple times to round the nail as I didn't want it digging into my toe and becoming an ingrown. If you want to keep your nails and toenails, I would avoid this place like the plague. read more
