When you come in, you are greeted and checked in by the receptionist. She was very pleasant and welcoming. Taryn was so nice and informative. I started coming to Taryn Brows after years of getting my eyebrows threaded and losing the shape of my brows. I was recommended by a friend who raves about the place and how much she loved her waxing results. I was very hesitant to come at first because the price of just waxing was about three times more than what I'm used to paying. However, I realized this is probably the price when you're getting quality service. I was also happy that my brows were finally in the hands of a black woman- owned business and had a lot of hope. My first brow waxing was with Tania. She really did her thing with my brows. I would usually come every one to two months and she would slay them every time. Giving me a great shape but also keeping it as full but not so thick as possible. Unfortunately Tania no longer works there. I did get serviced by Genesis and she also did a decent job with my brows. I did feel like she was doing a lot more than what was probably necessary but I also wasn't disappointed. That was part of the reason why I decided to regrow my brows again and attempt to start over. I'll be back there very soon and will continue to support this business as I am satisfied with their work. I was really excited to try Taryn Brows . I really enjoyed seeing her work on Instagram and it seemed like a great place to go for brows. My brow technician was nice, but since this was my first time at the salon (new client) and first time having brow tinting I expected a little more engagement when showing up to the salon when meeting everyone in the salon. Everyone just seemed disengaged and not present. My technician didn't greet me or asked me my name . The chair back was let down, I sat in her chair , she asked when I last twizzed my brows. It took a few minutes but she started to engage after she started working on my brows.. Once again she was nice but it took a while after asking questions to engage. I guess after seeing Taryns personality on her Instagram , I just really thought the atmosphere would be much more welcoming, since the salon is a representation of her. I would have loved to have had more questions asked about my needs. I booked a shape and tint . But after having it done , it really wasn't the best choice for me. Gratefully she didn't charge me for the tint . Only just the shaping. I sent an email weeks ago to the salon before coming for a virtual consultation which they advertised but I never got a reply . So just finished my first session with Taryn, and I'm a believer or should I say brow-believer. She is so knowledgeable about her craft and when it comes to eyebrows, she recites it like it's poetry. So after two months of impatiently waiting to get my eyebrows done by Taryn... I can finally say she is worth the hype! She's a true master at what she does. She examined my face and studied it well before proceeding with any waxing, she even outlined the areas where she would be waxing for my approval. Loved that! I would definitely return for brows! Taryn is a brow GOD. Now, the only reason why I didn't give Taryn Brows 5 stars, is because of the "lash lift and tint" that I got done. I'm not sure if it was the reaction of my eyelashes after the "lifting" procedure, but they are definitely not lifted. They are curled more than anything. The reason I decided to pay $110 for this was to get the lift effect and to toss my mascara away for a few weeks but now I have to use more mascara to try to lift my eyelashes. They look horrible. I was given an appointment for Monday, August 21st at 9:30am and I paid the requested deposit of $250.
