The Good: The place is really nice and my appt. started right on time. I came in for a brow shaping + tint and a lash curl + tint. My lashes turned out amazingly, like wow. The brow shaping was the best too, the stylist showed me exactly what I need to do to get my brows back on track to perfection. The Bad & The Ugly: Then, things went waaaay downhill. If it were only for the brow tint, I'd give 1 star. I asked for a natural tint. I am fair skinned, blonde and blue eyes. For some reason, the stylist dyed my brows jet black. I really don't understand the thought process there (do they only have 1 color?!), it should've been light brown or something. Anything but jet black. Instead, I look like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show! I told her it is waaay to dark but their version of fixing it is scrubbing oil over your brows back and forth for 15 mins til she had to stop, because my skin was being rubbed raw and inflamed. And it did not change anything. I am so self conscious now, hate-staring at my brows in the mirror, praying it will fade ASAP :( read more

It's really your responsibility as an eyebrow artist to keep up on trends. After years and years of getting eyebrow waxes that left my thin no-shape eyebrows straight like inchworms, I finally looked for a place that would actually "shape" my brows rather than just "clean" them up. I am so happy I found Taryn Brows. I've now been to Epiphany three times and my brows actually have a small arch. She takes her time and puts care into the shaping. I couldn't be happier unless I was blessed with bushier eyebrows! It costs more than waxing/threading but you get what you pay for. I came here for a eyebrow shaping with sky. The studio itself is very pleasant and clean which is why I gave it two stars instead of 1. I work in the location and came during my lunch hour. I came 5 mins before my appointment and was told to take a seat. I sat for about 15 minutes past my appointment time. Luckily it wasn't a busy workday for me so I had the time to spare! A couple of observations - There was a lot of loud "girl talk" during my treatment between all of the ladies doing the eyebrows... seemed like minimal conversation with the clients. They also talked about a client who had just left. I don't expect a spa like atmosphere for such a short service, but it was just unprofessional considering how close sky was to me. When I first sat down she didn't ask me what I wanted, she went ahead and started trimming my brows. I had to stop her and explain what I was looking for. When we were done I was shocked. My once thick and long brows were left still pretty thick but she made them not as long. She waxed off the ends of my brows and they basically had no "tail". i've actually never seen my brows like this, ever. I had to go back to work and since i waited so long I rushed out - not like i could get my eyebrows back that she ripped off! The pictures on Yelp do not match the level of unprofessionally that I observed during my visit. Reminds me of the places up in Harlem! read more

I went to Taryn recently after having had an AWFUL threading experience (your usual $7 nightmare). I spent about 12 weeks growing my eyebrows back out. I'm so glad I did my research and went to a professional! I made an appointment with Taryn for an eyebrow shaping. After explaining what happened after I got my eyebrows threaded (messed up, uneven arches and weird ingrown hairs around my eyebrows), Taryn showed me where she planned to wax, and where she would leave to let the hair continue to grow in. I really appreciated that she took the time to explain to me what she was doing. Also--it was the most painless wax I've ever had. Normally I get at least a little bit of redness. Not here. I couldn't believe how much better my eyebrows looked. After the wax, Taryn filled my eyebrows using her brand of powder. Two things I noticed: 1.) The powder worked amazingly--it made my eyebrows look better and fuller naturally. Not drawn on, and 2.) Taryn didn't push for me to buy the product. But once I saw how good my eyebrows looked, I was sold. Taryn walked me through how she was filling my eyebrows so that I could recreate it at home. All in all, it was an incredibly positive experience. You can tell everyone who works there really enjoys what they do. read more

As a small business owner who is very critical on elevating the black business experience it was refreshing to be serviced at this location. I was referred by another WOC brow artist (which speaks volumes) after our schedules conflicted. i thought going into the city from Brooklyn, getting a garage, and making it back to work I hope it's worth it. It truly was. I appreciate the accommodating nature of the staff, I didn't know Taryn personally but ended up being complimented by her on my way out, I met her clients while waiting and it was very genuine and her staff seems well aligned with her purpose. Be mindful all services are not for everyone. This is a professional environment, be on time and know what you desire and I'm sure your experience will be as appreciated as mine.
