2 eggs, hash browns toast and one meat . I got the hash .

My 1st time here, out on a day trip and drove an hour before stopping for breakfast. I'm sad it's so far away , it's great . It would be my #1 breakfast joint . The service was quick and friendly , the meal was perfect and plentiful. My coffee was always full . My only advice would be if you want your hash browns or hash a little crunch , make sure you ask for well done . Good Job !

One day my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to try a new breakfast spot so after some searching we went here! It's a cute little spot with great staff. They sat us quickly, even though it was pretty busy. The portions are amazing and so are the prices. We both ordered the big willie which offers: three eggs, home fries, a meat, and pancakes/French toast, toast, and drink. The food was cooked fast and was hot!!! We both added strawberries and whip cream for our French toast. My second time going I ordered the big willie again except getting a chocolate chip pancake instead of French toast and it was HUGE !! The portions are so big we never finish could share if we could. Will definitely keep coming back, anytime I think about breakfast this place comes to mind

3 people & didn't leave a dent in the food!

Yum! Yum! Ugh!! So much food, such a small stomach! We got 2 plates for 3 people & we needed 3 more people to finish it! Great value!

How is it 2011 and Thread City Diner hasn't been reviewed on Yelp? Makes no sense... (oh, no wonder why I couldn't check in with my iPhone searching nearby places in Willimantic) First, the place is jam-packed. Second, the food was great (might explain why it was so busy). I'll get the one missing star out of the way - there's slow because you're busy, slow because you're better than a grille cook working at a diner and can't manage the demanding pace of a huge diner packed to the sidewalk with patrons, and then there's Friendly's (where's my F-bombin' food already?!) slow... When you're really hungry any kind of slow makes the corner of the table look appetizing. I have to put Thread City not quite in Friendly's class (that would be too mean). On the plus side - the western omelet with cheddar was the size of an average diner placemat and thickness approaching a quiche. Cooked to perfection, I liked the not too small, not too big sized cuts of ingredients. I had grilled sourdough toast. I was expecting something skimpy. I apparently got the center cut of the loaf - 2 HUGE pieces - DEElish! Homefries were that perfect crispy-not-too-crispy outside. My girlfriend's side of bacon was heartstopping yummy massive slices. Everything at this place is massive. Well, my Diet Coke wasn't massive, but the service on the refill was good and our waitress was courteous about the delay with our food. Overall, a great diner outing in the end. 6' 3" and I probably packed on 5 lbs. before I left and I couldn't clear the plate. That's a winner! Can't wait to go back.

Large portions with affordable pricing. Andy is a little ruff but in my eyes he's a gem.

PATTY MELT REVIEW…read more Iconic diner on the edge of Chinatown, a couple blocks east of the Expressway. It's been around for decades and it's open 24/7. More of an authentic this-place-has-aged feel than the typical diner attempt to evoke an earlier era. Went in the morning and went for a patty melt-- because I could. It's too elusive these days, so being able to not only find one but have it at breakfast, a double win. Double patty is standard, not an add-on, and fries (probably frozen, but lengthy, crisp and fluffy) are included. No onions, no rye, but lettuce and tomato-- a non-traditional configuration. Nicely browned patties that had juiciness. The ingredients weren't anything to write home about, but the execution was great all around and so was the cheerful service from a seasoned veteran. Sure, I've had better with the proper rye, griddled onions, and higher quality beef, but an easy 4 stars for the execution, value, vibe, and being able to even order a patty melt before 10 in the morning. Bonus points for a plastic ketchup squeeze bottle that was slightly warm. Breakfast items (eggs, crispy home fries, and pancakes) on a neighboring table looked good.

A lot of reviews seem to harp on the interior, so I'll say it gave a double wide converted into a restaurant vibe. Ultimately, however, it was clean and comfortable, and that's what I want from a restaurant. Service was friendly, but I definitely sat without a coffee refill for a while, or any kind of attention, while the waitress chatted with her friends at the next table over. Food wise, the menu is classic diner, nothing too fancy, and a small enough variety of underlying ingredients that you can be confident they're doing the cooking. I got onion rings, along with two eggs and a ribeye. The onion rings were great, crispy but not burnt, good batter. The eggs were actually over easy, like I ordered, which is a huge positive. The ribeye didn't have much flavor, but they have A1, and it was a little undercooked, but I would rather that than overcooked. The coffee was brewed well, not burnt nor bitter. Other notes: the menu has an egg price modifier note, but the prices were as listed, so either they've updated the menu or the egg crisis is over enough that they stopped modifying the price. There's a sign at the register, but not in the menu, that paying with a card, debit or credit, will garner you a 4% fee, that you avoid by paying cash.

The restaurant is very clean. I've met the owner twice as he tries to get around the diningroom before you leave to make sure your experience was a good one & personally thank you. I feel that in itself makes a big difference in quality control & guaranteeing he is hearing his customers & perhaps can make changes before it becomes a business-changing problem. (Sometimes a few bad reviews spread like wildfire & changing rumors back to the truth can hurt the bottom line). There is a delightful waitress you'll be glad to have serve you if you are lucky enough to be seated at her table. "Grandma (name)?" is a very happy way to start your day. She knows the menu well & can make you smile on your worse days. The menu has plenty to choose from & the portions sizes..epic! Eggs Benedict is 3 egg size. Pancakes & French toast orders are enough for today & tomorrow without adding eggs or meat. But their prices are similar to other places lessor size plates. There is an ramp at the entrance for those with mobility issues. There are a couple of handicap spots too. I do not know if the restrooms are wheelchair friendly as I didn't check it out yet. Even on a packed Sunday morning, the kitchen was quick moving the food out.. the waitress was right on top of refills too. Definitely worth stopping in & giving it a try but bring your appetite. Eating like a bird, I think, is frowned upon.
