Great sleeper little spot tucked away in the side corner of a strip mall. Very reminiscent of an old school, no frills, food diner. Very casual ambience and friendly service. The food is very affordable and the options are just enough. Home fries needed a little more seasoning, but very well cooked - tender and crispy. This is a cash only.

Don't be thrown off by the odd location at the the mini strip mall: Diane's is legit. Omelettes are as advertised. Dee Snider agrees. I also took some bites of the kids pancakes and those are not to be overlooked either.

With meals for less the $8. Come on! You gotta give it a try at least once. Just a note: ~They offer cinnamon raisin as a toast options. POW! ~I read the reviews about the pancakes. Yes, they are delicious. I hate starchy breakfast stuff (french toast, pancakes, and waffles) but I do love theirs. They're a good size. The pancakes might be the best way to go. Cheap. Delicious & filling. I could probably polish off two, maybe three. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dianes-colchester-2?select=xT9ih9e2HfM4jI3ztP_0Qw#9Vs4nnznskK4SqpIpEU4Iw ~Meals aren't IHOP size, but it's a reasonable portion for the price. ~I assume corned beef is canned. ~It's really easy to miss the place. They have a sign near the street, but it's white, and doesn't stand out much. It was the American flag from the photo (thank you Bradley C) and the note of it being on the backside of Germamo's Bar (thank you Aubrey R.) that helped us find it. Pricing: For two $16.80 (2 meals + 1 coffee + 1 pancake) Service: ~Friendly and approachable. ~Greeted upon entering. ~Coffee and water refilled without asking, which means we were checked on during our meal. Seating: ~Again, we went there on a weekday and there was ample tables available. Food wise: ~Corned Beef Hash, 1 egg, homefries and cinnamon toast $4.75 I feel it was the perfect amount to not be too heavy or to little of the price. I thought the homefries lack flavor (it was buttery) perhaps just a bit of salt and pepper would have done the trick. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dianes-colchester-2?select=xT9ih9e2HfM4jI3ztP_0Qw#1n5PXiwHwH6jzYawbOE17A ~Swiss Piggy with two eggs: sausage, ham, bacon, Swiss cheese for $6.99 is servered with toast and homefries. My other half agreed the potatoes were buttery and bland. Other then that it was decent. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dianes-colchester-2?select=xT9ih9e2HfM4jI3ztP_0Qw#kHrQmhqSOKo9JvtRp_zPow ~Combination Pancake; Apple Brown Sugar at $2.50 a piece was delicious! I can appreciate a non-circular pancake. It doesn't have to fit the mold of "pancake" to taste enjoyable. It was soft, a nice thickness (that's what she said) and just the right about of sweetness for me to handle in the morning. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dianes-colchester-2?select=xT9ih9e2HfM4jI3ztP_0Qw#9Vs4nnznskK4SqpIpEU4Iw Great place for a decent meal at a great price. Next time I'm back in CT, I'll be sure to stop by.

My friend told me how she'd been dying to try this place since she lives right around the corner. They're cash only (which you know means it's an amazing little random spot) and so we eagerly went to the ATM yesterday morning and we showed up at 9 am on the dot. The tables were all full since it's small so we sat on the stools, which were pretty comfy. What struck me was how perfect the chalkboard was with the specials and how they had fresh little roses on the countertop. We both had the westchester omelet with coffee, and wow, what amazing diner coffee it was. The toast was absolutely perfect, the potatoes expertly fried, and I thoroughly enjoyed the omelet with sausage, cheese, and apple filling. It was kind of like an apple pie filling, and while delicious, I would maybe make it like they do in the Midwest with fresh apples just lightly fried with sharp cheddar cheese instead of mozz. Still amazing, but that would maybe make it even more amazing. Thoroughly enjoyable breakfast, definitely will have to come back soon.

"I love the flower girl Oh, I don't know just why…read moreShe simply caught my eye I love the flower girl she seemed so sweet and kind. She crept into my mind." (The Cowsills) Visiting the Flour Girl Café and Bakery will put you squarely in the middle of a Flour Girl Village with four distinct components. Within the village is the Flour Girl Café at 16 Main, the Flour Girl Bakery at 14 Main, the Flour Girl Country Store at 12 Main, and the Door Yard in a rear courtyard for dining and hosting events between the bakery and country store. Today we had breakfast at the Café and followed it up with a visit to the bakery. A common thread at both stops was the wonderful personality and friendliness of the staff we interacted with. The counterperson at the Café could not have been nicer and her personality radiated throughout the room like a beam of sunshine. She welcomed every new customer as though they were long lost relatives, exchanged some pleasant small talk and then diligently repeated the orders before ringing them up. She was fantastic. The café keeps things humming all week long--open Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 4:00, Saturdays from 7:30 to 4:00, and Sundays from 7:30 to 3:00. Flour Girl Café covers you from breakfast through lunch. Mornings bring all the good stuff: coffees and lattes, smoothies, egg sandwiches, bagels, wraps, waffles, toasts--you get the idea. Swing by at lunchtime and you'll find sandwiches, paninis, salads, burgers and soups waiting for you. Oh, and as a bonus perk, the bread for sandwiches and burgers is made at the bakery next door, so freshness is something the Flour Girl takes seriously. For breakfast, we had a Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, Tomato, and Cheese Bagel ($7.99) and an Avocado Toast (2 pieces) with Feta and tomato ($9.99), Two 16-ounce drip coffees were $3.50 apiece. The portions were large, and my avocado toast on sourdough was fantastic. We sat in the first-floor dining room and took in the pretty interior design of pinks, pastels, and floral color theme. Now, on to the bakery! The Flour Girl Bakery may be best known for its sourdough breads, but the fun doesn't stop there. You'll also find muffins, cookies, scones, their award winning cinnamon rolls, and a rotating lineup of fresh baked breads. And those cinnamon rolls? They spark a full on weekend rush--people happily line up just to snag one before they disappear. We picked up a box of mixed goods, muffins, cake squares, and a big hunk of jalapeno cornbread that will go perfectly with a homemade batch of lentil chili sitting in my fridge. We saw an adorable feature at the bakery, where plastic eggs were hidden within the store for the kiddies to find and cash in for a cookie. It's the little customer service features we saw at the Flour Girl's Café, Bakery, and Country Store that made today's visit so pleasant.

Love the new building, very cute! I got a cinnamon bun iced latte - would recommend!…read more A bit disappointed that breakfast (with eggs) is not served all day. I think there may be a small sign but i heard it several times during my visit - people asking for breakfast! Might be something to reconsider or place a visible sign underlining breakfast stops at 11:30 AM. Anyhow, pivoted to the lunch menu - pesto chicken sandwich was delicious. Did not love the pasta salad, wish there was the option for fry's. Really wanted the thanksgiving wrap but was out of stuck - next time hopefully! I will say - while there are many options for seating, especially with the new accommodation, it's tight. Chairs back into aisles and the table legs don't allow chairs to be pushed in that well. Entrance area can feel a bit overwhelming if it's busy. Staff super friendly and knowledgeable, will continue to come back.

I've never had this combination before, and it was absolutely brilliant. Honestly, I'd go back just for this dish alone. The restaurant itself is really cute, and we were thankfully able to snag a table without a reservation on a Sunday for brunch--but only because we came early before the crowds rolled in around 9 - they def rolled in as we were leaving! My husband ordered the French toast, which was also delicious. You really can't go wrong with their breakfast or brunch options, but the scrambled eggs with burrata and avocado truly stand out. Highly recommend!

In light of a recent November birthday (it's kind of a hard number for me to swallow this year, but…read morethat's a whole other post, lolol), I decided to unplug in Montauk, which meant staying at the beautifully coastal hotel, Daunt's Albatross, AND trying out their restaurant right across the street, Bird on the Roof. As soon as you walk inside, you see just how WARM AND COZY the ambiance is, and I absolutely LOVED the dim lighting via candlelight, too. Atmosphere aside, the food was positively INCREDIBLE. (Clearly this review is warranting lots of all-caps.) We ordered the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu sando (that came with a cute cup of fries), which was great, but the real star of the show was the blue crab! Think deconstructed crab chowder -- this decadent dish featured lump blue crab in a frothy brown butter with snap peas and corn, and it was super memorable, to say the least. We also ordered their Leggy's Thighs, which was another standout plate of small, de-boned fried chicken thighs with garlic, Parmesan, Fresno peppers, and microgreens. (This is not your average fried chicken!) The chef here created a deliciously delicate menu this season that definitely highlights both French and Japanese techniques. (We also caught the very beginning of their weekly trivia night, which seemed super fun and definitely something to keep in mind for the future!) What can I say except that this place is a Montauk gem. With incredibly delicious food, thoughtful service, wonderfully warm ambiance, and the ocean only 100 feet away, Bird on the Roof is a dining experience that will create only the best memories.

No matter, we were there before 11AM so we were served breakfast. The server we had was excellent she was a former employee of the Coffee Break which was the old restaurant in this location. The place is LOUD. The decor is new and refreshed. There is NO WHEEL CHAIR ACCESS (which surprised me as they just renovated the place. One would think the Town of Clinton would have required it.) I had the Breakfast Wrap with sausage and american cheese. It was good and filling. $7.00 (in May 2026) My companion had the Quinoa Omelette pictured 1/2 eaten ($14.75 in May 2026) which was good.
