Came here when my usual diner was closed. I was not disappointed and have been back a few times since. You can sit at the bar if there's open spot or wait a few minutes for a table. Common courtesy: tables of two or singles only at the bar. The bar isn't for an entire family to sit at and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. They have gluten free options including stuffed French toast. Some baked goods (no gf tho) and the staff here all seem friendly. Sometimes it takes several minutes for a waitress to show up to take a drink order, just be patient. They're working hard to try and keep all y'all happy! read more

Great breakfast! Building is easy to find with easy parking. No steps to get in, all on one level. Bathrooms are gender-specific but one person at a time, so use whatever is open. We were greeted and could sit wherever we wanted. Kiana came over quickly with menus and got our drink orders. We didn't see the special board in the front but the specials were written on the mirror in the back which was helpful. It wasn't busy for a Friday morning so we ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. I'm not one to eat all of my home fries ever but I ate all of these - they had great flavor and were hot! The bacon and eggs were good too. Hubby enjoyed his meal also. We both ordered the house made cinnamon raisin bread. It came buttered and was excellent. This is your classic American breakfast diner. The food is cheap and no frills, but dependably good. Servers are always nice.

My family camped in Pachaug State Forest and emerged starving. This was the closest diner on our drive back home, and boy was it what we needed. The service was quick. We were seated immediately even though it was 11am on a Sunday. The food was good and the waitress was friendly. Apologies to everyone who had to sit near us; we were completely disgusting and smelled bad but the staff didn't hold it against us. read more

I usually go for one of their omelettes however if you really want to treat yourself order up the stuffed french toast! The diner has plenty of seating and the booths are small but cozy. It can get pretty busy here on a weekend mid morning so you may have to wait a few minutes but it's worth it read more

I ordered Togo upon entering the restaurant three employees were next the door they all looked at me not one person said hello. The blond with tattoos looked at me four times before she said anything, the fourth was working behind the counter l. My eggs were ordered over hard which is yellow and white cooked all the way through. My homefries were ordered burnt, the sausage was cooked on one side! An easy fix was to throw everything on the stove and cook it longer but the point in the principal is is when you walk into a restaurant it starts at your front door by greeting your customer and making them feel welcome to actually be in there! read more

Service was awful. Lots of yelling and cursing. Out of a lot of items, slow and cold when finally arrived.

Decent little place. They do well. Staff is always friendly. Menu never changes and I have never seen specials.

We've been staying in Griswold CT for at least 10 years when we come up to see concerts or shows at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun. I can't believe we've never ventured down Route 12 South for breakfast, but we did today and now we will make this our go-to breakfast restaurant. We arrived around 10:40am on a Sunday and there was a line out the door! But we were told the wait wouldn't be more than 10 minutes. This is a small place and clearly a local favorite. Plenty of parking. We were greeted quickly and a full cup of coffee was served. Don't you hate when you only get half a cup of coffee? There were a few specials in addition to a full breakfast menu (they also serve lunch). Hubby and I both had eggs with homemade hash. I normally can't finish a full breakfast and usually pass on the home fries and toast but today hubby said he'd finish for me so I ordered the whole thing. Food arrived quickly and we were offered hot sauce options which I appreciated! The home fries were delicious...the potatoes and onions were diced and seasoned perfectly. I broke my own rule and ended up eating half of them myself. A generous amount of homemade hash was served on the side. It was crispy on the outside and just about the best hash I've had in quite a while. Very flavorful and nothing like hash that comes out of a can. I wish I took a picture of it! Overall I was very impressed with Just Breakfast & Things and will definitely come back and recommend them. read more

Service was terrible. I went to eat with someone who is not white and the waitress acted like she was personally offended by us being there. The first time this happened we chalked it up to her having a bad day but when it happened again it was pretty obvious. I've gone there with other white people and the waitress was lovely so it's pretty clear what the problem was for her. Not to mention The food is mediocre breakfast food at best. read more

This is your typical, hometown what you see is what you get kind of place. You walk in to a breakfast bar, booth seating, and 97% of the patrons have had an AARP membership for at least 10 years. You see yourself and your menu is kept at the table. You will find a no frills breakfast menu with reasonable prices. The bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll I had was above average and the home fries were average. The stuffed French toast was yummy. The waitress was rushing around so fast I felt weird telling her my whole order and everything was a little bit greasy but still a good experience. read more

Me and my girlfriend were looking for a quick place to get a quality, well priced, breakfast. I've heard good things about this place and was excited to try. It was close to my house and was easy to get to. Our waitress was phenomenal. She was new but so kind and helpful. She was quick and responsive and checked on us quite a bit. Our food was flavorful and came out quick. Prices were a good value and plates were piled high with food. I'm regretting not taking any pictures of my friends beautiful fruit filled crepes. Stopped here for a quick breakfast on our way back to the city. Simple restaurant, simple menu, with delicious food. Staff is very nice and followed all of our special instructions. Came here for the first time this morning. Service was fast, classic diner style. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak omelette special. It was absolutely delicious, I added onions and peppers to it and I would recommend that. Home fries were the best I've ever had. Definitely give this place a shot the specials are all very tempting and different from the normal diner food you come across, waitresses were very nice. Highly recommend! read more

Well isn't this place just so cute! It doesn't look like much. A small and tidy diner that sells, breakfast,lunch, and dessert only (closing at 2pm). But I found the place quite nice. Daily specials and the normal fare...eggs, pancakes, french toast, and anything else you might expect at a diner. Like excellent coffee that was always filled without having to ask, for instance. My friend loved the egg salad sandwich and said it was the best he ever ate. I had a 1,2,3 combo (1 egg, 2 pancakes, 3 strips of bacon). The presentation on the plate was pretty unappetizing and boring but everything on that plate tasted excellant. I also got homefries and a cheese dog on the side. I was starving, what can I say? I ended up getting fries too since the waitress made a mistake and gave me fries first before I corrected her ithe hotdog probably threw her off).. The cheese-dog was awesome. The fries were fair. The home fries she brought out like a minute later (so fast) were pretty yummy but well on their way to loosing their warmth. there was a sign for Giffords Ice cream but I had already made too much a pig out of myself to even entertain the idea. Good to know though. The prices were cheap and the waitress was very good (and even charged me for the less expensive item, fries, instead of the home fries). Had an homey feel too, like this is where older locals come for breakfast and read the paper, even though it was 1pm when I was there. I say give this place a shot! read more

Believe me when I tell you I am a very easy rater and we seemed to have a lot of luck with these little out of the way diners. With that being said, Just Breakfast gets a 3. It was lunch and I had a Ruben Sandwich and my wife had a Turkey Panini. The Ruben looked ok and tasted ok - - nothing special. The Panini was not really a Panini - - it was served on a hard roll and no grill marks. We are not sure how they prepared it. Not only that, it came with potato chips - - I should say potato crumbs - - they were broken chips from the bottom of the bag. Maybe breakfast is better - - but we took a chance on lunch. read more

This was the first and last time I will ever go there. Such a shame cuz the food wasn't too bad. The waitresses were too busy talking to pay attention to the customers. One of the waitresses was talking super loud about her kidney stones which isn't something you want to listen to when you go out to eat. The same waitress gave us our check slip back after running my card with no pen to sign the slip. I asked nicely the first time for one then completely ignored us. I finally asked again . When drinks were brought out my mom's iced tea had a fly floating in the middle of it. The waitress took it away and brought another which she wouldn't drink. She still charged us. The food is good but it has an issue with cleanliness, the silverware wasn't clean and even when we ask for another set they were dirty as well. In addition, the half & half for coffee is left out in the tables and when I added or to my coffee it cuddled and ruined my coffee If they would deal with the cleanliness issues it would be a better place to eat read more

We haven't been here in about 2 years so we decided to stop in for breakfast today. Our normal spot down the road was pretty busy so we decided to change it up. I felt like we waited quite a while for our food, which then our omelets came out over cooked. The home fries (sliced potatoes) had very little flavor as it seemed like they were boiled and only a few touched the flat top. The coffee is amazing! The only downside I would say here is, and I'm picky, is that the menus could probably use to be reprinted as they look like they might be as old as the building. Me and the my family eat breakfast here at least once almost every weekend. Their omletts are great, no matter what you have them put in them. I also enjoy the pancakes, always nice and fluffy. This place has gone downhill scary fast. Came here for breakfast, waitress was rude for starters, and the place was filthy. Dust all over sticky table. Our waitress seemed to only have time for regulars who go there all the time according to her. Silverware was dirty but we didn't want to cause a scene. Instead we were told there was new management. When we called to tell them our concerns, the new owner said "so?" He did not care and really didn't have time. Last time coming here for sure. read more

I am going to start by saying this was a regular breakfast location dine-in and takeout for my family. We loved this place.... until today. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich that arrived with some questionable spots on the English muffins. Not a deal breaker, obviously not preferable, but our server took appropriate action and sent it back to the kitchen for a remake. When we got the sandwich back initially it looked similar, but we thought we just imagined it. Then my husband removed the top to add ketchup but lo and behold the same ketchup he applied was stil there. Instead of the cost of a breakfast sandwich they sent the same exact food to the table- oh but they did trim off the spots on the other muffin half! You could see the cut marks. Never again. If you can't be bothered to remake a moldy breakfast sandwich your customers and their health are obviously not your priority. So disappointing. read more
