Four of my friends and I went on a trip to Foxwoods for a celebration and the morning after we in need of some good home cooking from a real Connecticut diner. This place was perfect. Carol and Carol took good care of all of us. The food was just like mom used to make (maybe even better!). We felt instantly at home and like a part if a family here. It was even BYOB after 11:30! I am going to start by saying this was a regular breakfast location dine-in and takeout for my family. We loved this place.... until today. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich that arrived with some questionable spots on the English muffins. Not a deal breaker, obviously not preferable, but our server took appropriate action and sent it back to the kitchen for a remake. When we got the sandwich back initially it looked similar, but we thought we just imagined it. Then my husband removed the top to add ketchup but lo and behold the same ketchup he applied was stil there. Instead of the cost of a breakfast sandwich they sent the same exact food to the table- oh but they did trim off the spots on the other muffin half! You could see the cut marks. Never again. If you can't be bothered to remake a moldy breakfast sandwich your customers and their health are obviously not your priority. So disappointing. read more

Went in this morning for breakfast, waitress greeted us and helped us find a seat. We looked at menu and sat. Table next to us, owner came over chatted a bit with people walked away. Several more minutes go by , another table clears couple sit. Table next to us waitress comes over with coffee pot and ask's if they would love more coffee! Owner/waitress goes to couple that came in several minutes after us, offering coffee and to take their order. I said to wife lets go, they don't want our business. As I ealk by owner I say "Great Service" she chirps and smiles and says Thanks. I told her we were sitting for 10 minutes without any service!!! She had a shocked look n her face. We left!!! I would not recommend this place. Go tp Dean's Corner in center of town. Food is fresh and the service there is Top notch!!! Zero rating from this patron!! read more

This is the greatest breakfast place around! The food was wonderful--sweet apple cider bacon, fresh eggs, everything good! Good service, friendly atmosphere. They'll have outside tables in the warmer weather, and ice cream! Good prices for great food served by friendly people, who could ask for anything more? read more

As roadside diners go, the food we ordered was decent as was the wait staff. The problem I had with the place was way overcrowded and noisy. Prices were pretty high too for being crowded and rushed. If they had a drive through window, (which they didn't), I would rather use that than to go in and eat inside. If you find yourself in Lisbon (Jewett City, really) where dining options are limited, keep driving north on route 12. There are a couple of nice eating spots in town on the right. Coming home from Foxwoods this morning my friends and I were in need of some breakfast. We came across "Just Breakfast and Things" and let me begin to say my friends and I were not expecting much, just a typical local diner, but boy were we wrong. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. The staff was very welcoming made us seem right at home. Reviewing the menu the prices were cheap, typical for a local breakfast joint. The 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausage links, toast, homefries, and coffee special for $7.25 instantly caught my friends attention and they were beyond pleased when receiving it. I tried the spanish omelet that was filled with seasoned burger, onions, peppers, and cheese. It was delicious and unique. I recommend everyone on their trip home from Foxwoods stops at this place. read more

I live very close -- So for something quick when you don't feel like making breakfast it's nice. It is your normal local diner feel place to go. It has been hit or miss for me. I have had the lumberjack breakfast that is only $7 (2 eggs, home fries, 2 slices of toast, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausages, and a pancake). The pancake is my favorite. It has always been light and fluffy. There has been times with the home fries have been burned/cold. There has been times the bacon has been over done and toast is way to toasted. The service is good even when it is very busy. So I hadn't gone in awhile. I just went back a few weeks ago to try again. The food was PERFECT! Best I have ever had from there. I love breakfast so I thought this was the perfect place! But I don't think we will be going back. We sat at the counter. The wait staff were so snippy with each other. The food is okay but a lot of my visits consisted of getting cold food. Only one of the servers is really all that nice. I always felt like I was getting pushed out the door. You pay $2 for a cup of coffee and they only give you one refill. Not a bad restaurant but not my first choice. read more

The food was good, the specials are definitely worth the price but the rest of the menu could be considered pricey (expect to spend $18 - $25, including tip, for two people), the waitresses are attentive and friendly. However, there was one older woman with glasses, complaining about her low blood pressure, who always had a scowl on, never smiled and barely responded to my "good morning"s.
