DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! SCAMMERS! TLDR: dealership lied about necessary repairs and tried to over charge me for things that didn't need to be fixed. Gave car back unsafe to drive. I brought my 2020 Buick in to check on a slow-leaking tire and to run a diagnostic on my brake pads because a service alert appeared on my dash. Prior to bringing the car in, I wasn't experiencing any issues with my brakes; they weren't making noise or grinding. I had a 2:30 appointment on a Monday. What should have taken about an hour to diagnose ended up taking over a day. The dealership never called back as promised, and overall communication was poor. I finally received a call at 4 pm the next day, informing me that my tire had sidewall damage and needed replacement, but they didn't have the tire in stock and would need to order it. I was also told that my rear brake pads were extremely worn, and that a brake pad sensor seemed to be damaged, causing other messages on my dash. They said I would eventually need to address these issues. I couldn't leave my car there any longer because I needed it for work the following day. I agreed to pick it up and bring it back on my next day off to fix the issues. When I went to retrieve my car, I was charged a $200 "diagnostic fee," which I found unreasonable but paid anyway. The technician handed me the keys silently and didn't explain anything. As soon as I started my car, multiple warning messages flashed on the dash. I noticed a clicking sound when I tried to move forward, and I had to use full body weight on the brake for the car to stop. Unable to even make it off the lot, I returned to the shop and was told my car was actually unsafe to drive! something I was never informed of before receiving the keys. This was negligent and dangerous! I was then told that the brake pad sensor had been cut, and the computer diagnostic "opened a can of worms," revealing a faulty EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) that would need replacing at a cost of around $2,000. They said they could try to reset the system temporarily, but it would only be a short-term fix, and my car would be unsafe again in about a month. The quoted costs included: - $1,932 for a new EBCM - $280 for a brake pad sensor - $736 for rear brake pads - $434 for tires - $249 for alignment - $250 to reset the brake system I found this suspicious, especially since the car was running fine before, and suddenly it needs nearly $4,000 in repairs. The next morning, I called their service manager, Angel, to express my frustration and ask why a computer diagnostic would damage a $2,000 part unless their technician had caused it. He backtracked, saying it was unlikely the ebcm would break and that only replacing the brake pads and sensors should suffice. He also claimed that the brake pad sensor was worn down because the brake pads were so bare and had rubbed against it. This sounded odd, because if there was that much wear wouldn't it have caused squealing or grinding before I arrived -- which I never experienced. Also, because the day before I was told the wire was "cut". Overall Angel was unhelpful, talked over me and talked in circles. After the call I had a male friend call to get a quote on the same brake pad service. He was told that the sensors were included in the brake pads replacement and that replacing two rear brake pads and sensors would cost $650 total. Weird because I was quoted $1016 for the same service. Was the extra $366 charge because I'm a woman? Deciding to get a second opinion, I had my car towed to a different mechanic. They inspected the brakes and showed me that the brake pads were barely worn and didn't need replacement. They had also showed me that the sensor was snapped and not worn and that it was not in a position that could have rubbed on any part of the brake pad. Fortunately, they fixed the issue and restarted the system for a fraction of the price I was quoted at this dealership. Additionally, I took my tire to Discount Tire to replace the one the dealership claimed had sidewall damage and would need to be replaced. It turned out to just be a nail and they were able to patch it for free. Yet again another lie and attempt at scamming by this dealership. I'm glad I trusted my instincts and refused further service at that dealership. Avoid taking your car there unless you want unnecessary headaches, long wait times, additional problems, and an empty wallet. read more

We took our 2008 Isuzu 3500 commercial truck to Thorson Motor Center as they have an excellent service center for commercial trucks, and we had purchased our vehicle from this dealership in Pasadena in 2009. Vince was our service advisor when we had to have our transmission replaced back in July 2020 for approximately $5500. It had 100,000 miles on the vehicle at that time. Isuzu warranties the REPLACED transmission for 1 year, unlimited miles. We had to return the vehicle two times Oct 2020 & Nov 2020 as we continued to hear a whining noise coming from the engine. At the Nov 2020 visit, Vince, our service advisor, informed us that the noise is normal. Fast forward to Mar 2022 we started hearing more noises coming from the engine. We took it to our local mechanic. They diagnosed a problem with the transmission. We brought it back to Thorson where they diagnosed that the transmission had failed. The mileage read at this time a little over 113, 000. So the mileage was only 13,000 more from the transmission replacement, but it was five months out of warranty. Our first conversation with Thorson was that Isuzu would replace the transmission. We received a call on Tuesday, May 17th from Mr. Angel D. Salcido, the commercial truck manager & informed us that Isuzu denied the claim since it was no longer under warranty. What?? We were super disappointed. Mr. Angel D. Salcido went above & beyond in working with Isuzu to try and get this repair covered as he felt that it shouldn't have failed in such a short term & due to the fact that we had brought it in to them two times after the transmission was replaced. Thorson Motor Center has a huge, successful service department for commercial trucks. So their relationship with Isuzu Corporation is very strong. Because Mr. Salcido was very compassionate with us and tried to help us out in getting the cost down. He was able to get the labor waived from Thorson ($1600) & brought the cost of the replacement transmission to a lower rate. We can only say extra good things about Thorson Motor Service Center, our service advisor Vince & Mr. Angel Salcido. We can't say the same about Isuzu Corporation as it is evident that the first transmission had failed in just a short term & should have been 100% covered for parts to us, and labor to be reimbursed to Thorson Motor Company. We travel all the way from Orange County (1.5 hr drive in traffic) to get our commercial vehicle serviced here at Thorson in Pasadena, CA, & we will continue to do so. I really tried with the place. The first time I went the service wasn't great. However, when I sent the second time. I figured, hey it's been awhile maybe things will get better. I also, needed to tow my car and my usually mechanic does not do electrical work. I needed an ECU replaced. I bought one that was preprogrammed. I told them this, and they decided to argue with me about if it was or not. To the point I needed to send them an email just to prove myself. I told them all they needed to do is put it in and sync it. I would've done it myself if I had the time. It took them 4 days to do this job. I asked them why it took them so long. They told me they needed to drive it longer to check the computer was working. I took the car back, drove it only 7miles and the locks started to unlock and lock while I was driving, and the engine started to act weird. I told them the issue, and that I wanted to have it fixed as soon as possible. The service manager Casey Ruiz starts talking to me like he wanted to fight. I was professional told him not to speak over me. He says "you know what you can bring your car back, but it is going to be two days until we get to it, because we have other customers". Therefore, I contacted the "Service Director" Angel who disrespects me the same way. I had to tell them that I gave them my car in hopes of them doing what they've said. The mechanic/technician said my ECU was fine, and everything checked out. I just want Thorson Buick GMC to do what they've said, and I will be out of your hair. They took my car, and stated I needed new battery cables that would cost them $941 to fix because they needed to find after market cable kit. I was going to do it, but something (GOD) told me to take my car. I did, and found out that I can get this fix about $400 cheaper. In short, don't go here. No matter how convenient it is, or even if they say they will cut you a deal. Go elsewhere. I am not coming back. If it wasn't for one Service Technician named Randy Bruno who was professional. I would've given them a 1 star. Go elsewhere people. This place is not worth the headache. They've also scorched my brakes doing whatever they do. I wouldn't do this to this car because it's a rebuild. read more

made use of a service coupon for oil change and tire rotation. tech over fills my oil by better than a quart. i then get under my truck to find that the oil filter had not been changed. then i proceeded to drain better than a quart of dirty brown oil to register on the dip stick in the prescribed zone. to top it off the tech left numerous hand prints on the hood and door. thanks to the service manager for his immediate response to this matter . i will chock this up to a honest mistake by the dealership read more

I brought my car in today because I received a coupon in the mail for an oil change, tire pressure check, top off fluids, general inspection, etc. My odometer just crossed 100,000 and they suggested the 100,000 Service. I asked how much and he said very expensive, $1,200. I said I'll have my mechanic do it. I waited in the lounge until my car was ready. I picked it up and drove home. A few hours later, after the Service Department was closed, my check engine light comes on. I'm taking my car to my mechanic tomorrow to find out what the problem is. read more

Pros: very nice staff, never once hassled me about having to deal with a Saturn (not true of other dealers), work was done properly. Cons: car is generally not returned on time unless I call them to follow up more than once (sometimes it still isn't ready when they say), inconsistent with washing the car after service. read more
