I recently had one of the most frustrating dealership experiences I have ever encountered while trying to purchase a used 2025 GMC Sierra EV from Thorson Pasadena GMC. After seeing the truck listed on their website, I immediately called on a Friday and spoke with Walter. I explained my situation, my interest level, and my trade in details for my 2018 Ford Raptor. Walter had me complete the appraisal forms and gave me an acceptable offer on the trade in and assured me that he would make the truck available for me to buy on Monday. Because I live more than an hour away and had family commitments over the weekend, I could not come in sooner, and he acknowledged and agreed to hold the vehicle by placing it in service status. Monday morning, we confirmed my arrival time by text. Everything seemed squared away. After driving nearly an hour, I was two minutes away when I received a call from Chris informing me that the truck had just been sold. I still went inside the dealership to speak with the sales manager. Instead of any meaningful explanation or accountability, I got a simple shrug and a reminder that they "do not hold cars," completely ignoring the fact that their team had already agreed to do exactly that. No real apology, no remorse, no ownership, just indifference. Chris and another associate, Jonathan, did offer to try to locate a similar truck at auction and deliver it to my home for inspection, which at the time felt like a decent attempt to make things right. Unfortunately, that promise turned into nothing as well. I never received a follow up call, not a single update, and no apology from anyone at the dealership. I was essentially ghosted after being told they would help correct the situation. I had gone out of my way to prepare my trade in, rearranged my schedule, and drove a long distance based entirely on their word. The lack of communication, broken commitments, and complete disregard for a customer's time was incredibly disappointing. Thankfully, I found the same model Sierra EV at Culver City Chevy, where I was treated with professionalism and respect from start to finish. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with Thornton Pasadena GMC. My experience showed poor communication, poor internal coordination, and a willingness to make commitments they do not honor. read more

Now when it comes to car buying or leasing as we grow older we realize these are not fun experiences ESPECIALLY when you are getting a vehicle for someone other than yourself. Nothing makes me feel better than seeing the ones you love most drive off in a car they absolute love and are proud of. So very recently it was time to get out of what was probably the biggest financial boo boo of my life. The Mrs's dream car was a Black on Black Supercharged Range Rover legitimately the nicest thing I can say i've ever owned the car holds the highest esteem in almost every way except it's ever depreciating value so somehow the nicest thing will become your least valuable. If you have the finances and absolutely need to be in a Range do yourself a favor and lease a Land Rover never purchase that's my first free lesson of the day. Once we went down the rabbit hole and visited multiple Lexus dealerships (one in Tustin in particular that deserves a not great review but I don't review businesses solely because they hired a bonehead who is in the wrong profession) a couple local GMC dealers the universe somehow lead my Mrs and myself to a listing for a beautiful brand spanking new White Denali that was sitting at Thorson Pasadena Buick. Both the Mrs and I contacted them separately and by no coincidence (because we don't believe in those) we both were blessed and fortunate enough to have been put in touch with Natalee Saillant. She was instantly even through text (at first) so human and so far from the typical car salesperson she didn't waste any time. Gave her our specifics and what we needed then literally within one phone call in less than 20 minutes she was already getting us in the ballpark of where we needed to be putting all the "veteran" car salespeople we seen in person to shame! We spoke on a Friday, met in person on Sunday and then monday we closed the deal. I brought the Mrs and was able to get another video of her with an ear to ear grin driving away in our first 3rd row vehicle as we approach the new year and hopefully a 3rd a child in 2026! The era of the traditional car salesperson is over find yourself a Natalee they do exist, they are probably quietly doing their job in the background while the "veteran" is making you uncomfortable promising you everything but literally giving you nothing. Free lesson two: If you are at a dealership dealing with someone who isn't trying to serve you and work with what you are giving them or repeatedly say things to the effect of "sorry" or "bad news" take it at face value and go find yourself your Natalee. Someone who genuinely wants to get you in that vehicle first because they are as real as you are and secondly because it's their job that even if they haven't realized yet they are very very good at and the "veteran" sales people should take notes or get out of the way. I did say earlier I don't write reviews based solely on one person and this one review is no different everyone I came in contact with at Thorson were top shelf individuals, and the selection of already premodified GMC trucks made me reconsider how much I love the truck I drive got me thinking maybe it's time for an upgrade. Also can't remember his name but the manager that assisted on our sale also a legend and if their service department will prioritize us for service I would literally have no issue driving out to Pasadena from Cypress just to deal with this cast crew vs what I have locally not because they aren't great themselves but more so because my 5 star experience at Thorson. Wednesday, I dropped off my 2500 HD truck off for service. Jessie was my service writer and he is very kind, knowledgeable and attentive. While checking me in, he immediately checked the trucks fault codes and discovered several. I also asked if they could check the transmission because on a couple of occasions the transmission seemed to hesitate when shifting. Jessie told me that the trk would most likely need a day or two to complete the oil change, several filters, along with diagnosing the fault codes and trans issue. Jessie kept me updated every step of the way and made sure that our Prepaid Premier Service Package Plan covered everything along with the factory warranty. While in, the tech performed a software update which solved the fault codes and transmission update as well. I am very satisfied with the service that writer Jessie, general manager Ted Barnes, the service technicians, and the women at the desk do to keep us customers happy. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! SCAMMERS! TLDR: dealership lied about necessary repairs and tried to over charge me for things that didn't need to be fixed. Gave car back unsafe to drive. I brought my 2020 Buick in to check on a slow-leaking tire and to run a diagnostic on my brake pads because a service alert appeared on my dash. Prior to bringing the car in, I wasn't experiencing any issues with my brakes; they weren't making noise or grinding. I had a 2:30 appointment on a Monday. What should have taken about an hour to diagnose ended up taking over a day. The dealership never called back as promised, and overall communication was poor. After several failed call attempts to get an update, I finally received a call at 4 pm the next day. I was told that my tire had sidewall damage and needed replacement, but they didn't have the tire in stock and would need to order it. I was also told that my rear brake pads were extremely worn, and that a brake pad sensor seemed to be damaged, causing other messages on my dash. They said I would eventually need to address these issues. I couldn't leave my car there any longer because I needed it for work the following day. I agreed to pick it up and bring it back on my next day off to fix the issues. When I went to retrieve my car, I was charged a $200 "diagnostic fee," which I found unreasonable but paid anyway. The technician handed me the keys silently and didn't explain anything. As soon as I started my car, multiple warning messages flashed on the dash. I noticed a clicking sound when I tried to move forward, and I had to use my full body weight on the brake for the car to stop. Unable to even make it off the lot, I returned to the shop and was told my car was actually unsafe to drive! something I was never informed of before receiving the keys. This was negligent and dangerous! I was then told that the brake pad sensor had been cut, and the computer diagnostic "opened a can of worms," revealing a faulty EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) that would need replacing at a cost of around $2,000. They said they could try to reset the system temporarily, but it would only be a short-term fix, and my car would be unsafe again in about a month. The quoted costs included: - $1,932 for a new EBCM - $280 for a brake pad sensor - $736 for rear brake pads - $434 for 2 tires - $249 for alignment - $250 to reset the brake system I found this suspicious, especially since the car was running fine before, and suddenly it needs nearly $4,000 in repairs. The next morning, I called their service manager, Angel, to express my frustration and ask how a simple computer diagnostic could damage a $2,000 part unless their technician had done something wrong. He backtracked, saying it was unlikely the ebcm would break and that only replacing the brake pads and sensors should suffice. He also claimed that the brake pad sensor was worn down because the brake pads were so bare and had rubbed against it. This sounded odd, because if there was that much wear wouldn't it have caused squealing or grinding before I arrived -- which I never experienced. Also, because the day before I was told the wire was "cut". Overall Angel was unhelpful, talked over me and talked in circles. After the call I had a male friend call to get a quote on the same brake pad service. He was told that the sensors were included in the brake pads replacement and that replacing two rear brake pads and sensors would cost $650 total. Weird because I was quoted $1016 for the same service. Was the extra $366 charge because I'm a woman? Deciding to get a second opinion, I had my car towed to a different mechanic. They inspected the brakes and showed me that the brake pads were barely worn and didn't need replacement. They had also showed me that the sensor was snapped and not worn and that it was not in a position that could have rubbed on any part of the brake pad. Fortunately, they fixed the issue and restarted the system for a fraction of the price I was quoted at this dealership. Additionally, I took my car to Discount Tire to replace the tire the dealership claimed had sidewall damage and would need to be replaced. It turned out to just be a nail and they were able to patch it for free. Yet again another lie and attempt at scamming by this dealership. I'm glad I trusted my instincts and refused further service at this dealership. Avoid taking your car here unless you want unnecessary headaches, long wait times, additional problems, and an empty wallet. read more

What a total mess. You schedule a service appointment, they call you they day before you're supposed to be there and ask you to come in the following week. Then when you finally show up, they tell you it'll be 4 weeks before they can even look at your car. Why tell me to bring my car just to have it sit around for a month? Don't waste your time with this place - there's a reason it gets terrible reviews. Update: After being contacted by Ted (the general manager), he explained the delima the dealership was in due to heavy volume, and listened to my issues with the way the service appointment went down. He and Angel definitely went above and beyond to make things right, and even though it took around 2 weeks to diagnose and resolve the issue, they stayed in constant communication with me and I got me my truck back good as new. The first time, they kept our vehicle for a week and did not provide us any information regarding our car unless we called. Even when we called, we were given an array of excuses. Keep in mind no loaner car was provided. After calling corporate, we were offered a free oil change, by the dealership, which we got done today. Once the vehicle was ready, my husband was told he had to pay or wait until the person who initially assisted us was back to honor the free oil change as this wasn't noted on his file. Mind you, my husband already had walked 5 miles to the dealership to get the vehicle, to then be told to wait when he needed to get to work?! I showed up and was acknowledged by three other individuals, one who is the sales manager. I made them aware that I was there to meet with Josh they pointed at and who made eye contact with me and acknowledged my presence. I was blown off, he forgot about me and our appointment. I let things go but to make matters worse the truck was in fact not what he had promised via text message. We needed something that would accommodate a car seat, as well as two booster seats, while allowing the functionality of being able to go from row two to row three with ease. When we walked it we were greeted by Freddy. He was truly excellent and patient with us. He didn't try to push anything onto us and made everything feel very organic. Today, has marked my favorite because this review will be heavy-handed and disappointing to the billing department under the service department. I am still rattled about my experience but here we go. This morning, I had arrived in the dealership at 8:00am or so. It took me about an hour and a half to get to the dealership using metro redline and blueline train routes. I dropped off my vehicle at the dealership on Wednesday for an LOF, Wiper Blades, A/C Service and Battery Test Inspection all using coupons provided by Thorson Buick. I unfortunately could not make it to the dealership that day, but I paid my bill online and payment was received in accordance with my end. So, when I got to the dealership I was told it was reversed. I was a little surprised when they told me this and I showed them the email saying that payment was received and my bank account is stating it is processing. Well, the lady Cathy who is an elderly woman called her manager, and her manager could not explain why the f is this happening to me so they told me that they would have to charge me again to get me and my vehicle out of there so I agreed to it but they better be people of their word and honor when they said when it processes in my bank account that I can come back and get a reimbursement to get my money bank. I am very skeptical and doubtful about this situation, and I say that this dealership is full of crap. I really wished I could have stormed in their area of operations, grab my vehicle and get the heck out of dodge. I did not want to be a Karen or a douche on a Friday, but this dealership better be accountable of my situation, man. This is pathetic. I already paid online on Wednesday, and the payment was received. But today I am learning this was reversed on Thorson Buick? That makes no sense because would not my bank account notify me in this instance? Pathetic billing department of the service department. PATHETIC. The only people who aren't is Luna, Vince and I miss my good pal Casey who no longer works there. The rest of the people in this dealership, may they only get bad things by the FAFO department. Don't get your car serviced here! I had a part replaced and was told it would take 2-3 days max. On day 3 I never got a call, a text or an update. I called Randy who was helping me and still no response. Called back on day 4 just to be told they had to order a part so no work has been done yet, but they can have it done the same day. Go in again hoping I don't get Randy and sure enough I do. They keep my car all day and he didn't bother to call to advise what the diagnosis was. Going to Glendale going forward. read more

Unfortunately I have to give the Service Center ONE STAR! I was told three times that the Service Center would return my call to schedule an appointment for a 2022 Buick Encore GX which I just purchased on 10/24. A dash light indicator "Shift to park" would continuously come on after shifting into park. The Service Center told me it's a common issue with this vehicle. They were so quick to take my business and money but don't have the courtesy of returning my call!!!! After receiving a call from their service department, I set an appointment for this past Friday to get an oil change. I set the appointment for 10 A.M. at the Pasadena location. I pulled up to a 2 lane entrance for service. I parked on 1 side & got out of the car. A service advisor came & asked what I needed & asked me to drive around to the other lane - why, I don't know. While I was backing up to go to the other lane another car pulled into the lane in front of me. The same service provider that asked me to switch lanes comes to my car, looks me in the face, & says I'm going to help him first. WOW! A few minutes later another service advisor comes out to greet me & gets everything ready to have my oil change done. He asked if I was going to wait in the lobby, & I said yes. He made a weird face about it, so I asked how long it was going to take. He said wouldn't be ready until the afternoon. I inquired about how late in the afternoon because I had to be at work at 2:44 in North Hollywood. He said about 1:30 - 2, & someone would contact me when it's ready. I waited until 1:30 & since I hadn't heard anything, I called dealership. He stated it would be ready in 40 minutes. Keep in mind that I arrived there at 10:15ish A.M. I arrived back at the dealership at 2:10, & the car still wasn't ready. The service advisor asked me to go sit in the lobby, & I refused as I needed to know how much longer because I had to go to work. At 2:30, the service advisor pulled my car around & parked it. By this time, I had to call my job to let them know I would be late. After he pulls my car around, he asked me to go into the lobby to sign additional documents. I went in. 2 people saw me standing there & didn't greet me. I went to the counter to ask about the paperwork, & the lady behind the counter was extremely rude. She asked who my service advisor was & if he told me to come in & get the documents. I said, well - yes! She made a rude face. That was the last straw. I stormed out & drove off. I was over 20 minutes late for work. DON'T GO HERE! They took over 4 hours to do a simple oil change. The customer service is horrible! read more

I totally regret buying a Buick. The car is already having some problems and that would be manageable but there is this woman in the service department named Luna who has something wrong with her. She lied and told me the repairs weren't under warranty when they were. She didn't tell me to bring both fobs when she made the appointment. She did things to me like call me back 4x in a row while I was in a doctor's appointment and told her I couldn't talk. So now I need a part but I'm afraid to go back. Update: I traded my Buick in for a Toyota today. Never had problems with any of my 5 Toyotas I've owned. AND: Manager Brian S. Why on earth would I go through your phone tree to talk to you when I no longer own a Buick? I'm never buying one again either. You all had your chance when I first left a complaint. I took my canyon in because they needed to reprogram all the computer modules that Gmc finally came out with an update and Luna was so amazingly helpful.
