See my first review over three years ago. Have been ordering for deliveries all throughout and finally recently dined in again. Here are some comments and suggestions for improvements. To do better, of course. Employees should stop gossiping about customers or making sarcastic facial expressions/gestures toward one another about the customers -- e.g., "They're still taking their time on the menu", I told you so, these customers are clueless, who's, not sure why they're not ready to order yet! etc. I like the Sen Yai Thai Restaurant next door a lot better. The servers are a lot more pleasant and welcoming, no sarcastic attitudes, gossiping behind customers' backs as those here at Thonglor.
Make a reservation or come when the open because this place fills up fast. The food is delicious and came out fast. Good spot to come with family and friends. Duck curry - crispy with a nice slow building heat Crying tiger - tender beef and the cilantro sauce it came with was delicious Chicken satay - chicken a little dry but sauces were great Three flavor fish - the fish was fried very crispy and came with sweet and sour sauce. Whole fish but you don't have to worry about bones Mango sticky rice - sweet end to a great meal.
We try Thai everywhere we go and this place deserves a 9.2. I will always drive out of Boston to eat here. Every trip to New England must have this restaurant on its itinerary. We had the steamed rice, pad see ew noodles, beef salad, and Tom yum soup. To drink we had Thai teas. Everything was phenomenal!! The food was really tasty and authentic. I wish we were told the food was spicy because our food was extremely spicy. If this were a 3 I would've ordered a 2. The spice is delicious but at the current spicy level we had to push ourselves to keep eating. Definitely try the Thai tea. Overall I rate this restaurant a 9.2, I would travel and go out of my way to stop by. Make a reservation if possible, service was quick. Restaurant is small and cozy.
This review is base off a to go experience! I still need to dine in! We ordered the Tum Tard which is a combination of meat, papaya salad, and sticky rice. A lot of Thai, Cambodian, and Lao restaurants offer this type of combination dish. Sometimes with beef, pork, or fried chicken wings. We also got shrimp pad thai. Food 4/5 - grilled pork was really nice and tender. Lots of flavor from the grilled marks. The sauce that came with it was so good. Tangy and spicy. Papaya was ok.. I prefer Cambodian or Laos papaya salad over Thai. Thai is more sweet and not as spicy. Pad Thai was good. I'm sure everything would have been even better if we dined in. Next time!
Food was great, and customer service is the best. They have alot of customers waiting outside the door but the smiles did not disapear. They kept checking to see if I was eating well and if I ndeeed anything. Everyone is so nice and helpful. So tum was strange since it is served with cook shrimps not dried shrimps, but the taste is awesome. Crying tiger is great,and they made the Thai milk tea less sweet for me which is nice. Price is affordable. Will come back to try more next trip!
Absolutely delish food and drinks!! The restaurant is not too big but it gets very busy at dinner. It can be loud and lively around the evening. The wait is worth it though. We ordered 4 dishes (crying tiger was to-go, no photo) and a cocktail. Everything was delish. I wish I live closer so I can try the rest of the menu. Definitely a must try place!!
Located in Brighton in the midst of many high-powered educational institutions, the restaurant was crowded with what appeared to be PhD students in molecular biology having a great time. The chicken saté was outstanding, perfectly cooked, flavorful, juicy, and tender. They also came through with the Pad Thai, Tom Yum shrimp and mango sticky rice. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
I have been waiting to try this highly recommended Thai place and it was worth the wait! Even on Monday night Thonglor had a bit of a wait. It was a vibrant ambiance with decor resembling Thai street market. Service was very friendly and efficient (they even took our order as we were waiting). We started with the Luk Chin Jeed and Kui Chai - which I find to not be common appetizers in many Thai resteraunts here. Both were great - the Luk chin Jeed was savory and flavorful. The Kui chai had a great chewy texture and paired well with the sweet dipping sauce. For the mains we had the Tom yum noodle soup, it was full of seafood and noodles and the broth had a creamy yummy flavor. We also had the panaang curry which was solid. And the ka nar moo grob - the pieces of pork were large, nicely crispy on the outside, and super soft inside. We ended with mango sticky rice which was classic and delicious! Would recommend this place for sure
4.5/5. Food was authentic and flavorful, but a little too much sauce in the Pad Thai. The roti was delicious but the curry was very sweet, and the roti was disproportionately small. Service was EXCELLENT though, they were so fast I didn't even have time to thank them, I dropped my napkin on the floor and the second I got up from picking it up another one was on the table, I didn't even know she saw me like that. Ambiance was comfortable, small but nice.
The food was incredible and came out quickly!! We love the beef salad the most! The tom yum hot pot was a bit salty. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the service! First time when the waitress brought our food out, I asked her for extra sauce and she did not acknowledge me went straight to the kitchen. Every single time we needed something we had to ask for multiple times. The staff over customers ratio suck!
My family and friends meet here on a Monday just as they opened since my brother was a huge fan of this place. We were a party of 7 so we were relieved to be the first ones there. However, shortly after every seat was full and there was even a line. We loved the broth of the Tom yum as well as the seafood. I haven't had Khao pad poo other than a Chinese crab fried rice version and was a huge fan of the flavors. The Pad Thai shrimp was also top notch for my typically unsatisfied preferences. The Pad kee mao was delicious as well but I could always do with more gravy. The Panang nuer was tender and seasoned perfectly. I really liked the fish sauce served with the Grilled squid since it was so spicy and tangy. The Kai Tod had yai was crispy and salty. And the Sweet mango sticky rice was a perfect way to end our meal. Drinks were phenomenal including the 999 roses and makam. Overall, I had a fantastic time and so did everyone in my party. There were 3 servers for the whole place but they could certainly use a few extra hands since they were so busy. Even so, they were still so sweet and fulfilled all our requests. Would absolutely love to come again and highly recommend others to support this locally owned and beautifully crafted Thai place!
I arrived at Thonglor late Friday evening and was able to get seated while waiting for my friend to come in. We ordered the curry puff, pad thai, Pad Ped Pla Dook as well as Sorn Klin and Margarita for drinks. The curry puff was amazing. It tasted flaky on the outside, but the inside was so tender and soft. The sweet dipping sauce paired really well with the dish. I would be careful as the puff crumbles really fast. The pad ped pla dook was pretty darn good and had a nice kick of spices. There was peppercorn scattered throughout the dishes, making each bite tingly on the tongue. The fish was pretty good. It was battered on the outside but moist on the inside. This dish was served with rice, which helped offset the spice as it kicks in between each bite. I like how it came stir-fried with a variety of vegetables as well. The Sorn Klin tasted pretty good, and the presentation matched the images on the menu. It was not too sweet but also not too strong, which is perfect for me. My friend liked her margarita so much she decided to order a second one. Service was pretty alright as they checked up on us and provided a large jug to refill our own water. They also did not rush us throughout our meals, so I enjoyed the ambiance for when you want to have a cozy chat while drinking. Everything was reasonably priced, and the portions were not bad as I had leftovers by the end of the meal. Do note that they stop seating people half an hour before closing as the kitchen closes early. I would definitely come back to try their other drinks and food! read more
Came here on a Friday night after a long and hot day. Before we even entered the door, we could already seeing the owner (at least I think it's the owner) excited; ready to greet and seat us. Got seated immediately and decided what to order. We ordered: Grilled Squid Goong Tod (Crispy Shrimp) Pad See Ew w/ shrimp Tum Tard (papaya salad w/ pork) Thai Tea Thai Coffee All the food was sooooo delicious. I think this is my new favorite Thai restaurant! Most of the plates we ordered came with sauces and they complimented all the plates really well. I wish I could buy a bottle of some of them. My favorite dish is the Goong Tod, the shrimp is fried and you can eat every part of it. I just wish it came head on! The grilled squid came with a green chili sauce. It was really spicy but oh so good! Might order the grilled squid just for the sauce. My friends loved the Tum Tard. It was good, but not my fave. Their Pad See Ew is probably one of the best ones I've had in Boston. For their drinks, I definitely recommend getting their thai iced tea. Perfectly sweet and creamy. I don't recommend the Thai Coffee though. It didn't really WOW me. I will definitely be coming back to try some of their other dishes. Ones in looking forward to try is their Pad Thai, Goong Ob Woonsen (we actually ordered this, but there was some miscommunication), crying tiger and their 3 flavor fish. Their dishes are expensive, but we'll worth the price! They've only been open a month and I'm sure they will only get busier. Food is near perfect and the owner was super nice. Everything was delicious! Ordered take out via Uber Eats. The order was prepared quickly and pick up was quick at the counter. It was a very quick interaction but the staff seemed friendly -- greeted when I stepped into the restaurant and hand off was easy. Haven't eaten Thai food in a long while and Thonglor definitely hit the spot with all the dishes! Everything was flavorful and cooked well. For the prices, some of the portions seemed a bit small but overall this meal was great. Chicken satay - tender, juicy and comes with two sauces: peanut and sweet/sour Khao Pad Poo (crab fried rice) - yummy especially if you like the salty seafood flavor. I thought the white pieces on top were egg whites but that was the crab pieces haha Kai Tod Had Yai (fried chicken) - based on the description I thought it would be chicken wings but this was a quarter of whole chicken. Regardless of the form factor, the chicken was cooked well, juicy, and flavorful Pad Cha Talay (seafood) - has a bit of a kick/spice! I'm not a fan of spicy, but I can tell the sauce and rice is a perfect pairing Pad See Ew with beef - flavorful and classic dish. The beef was chewy to me and the portion seemed on the lesser side Pad Thai - another classic. Comes with chicken and shrimp. Delicious! Kui Chai (vegetable dumpling) - the texture was not what I expected; it's soft and chewy, but I liked it! Reminds me of the texture of Chinese turnip cakes (lo bak go). Comes with sweet black soy sauce. Delish! Curry puff - crispy crust and soft inside. Current flavor could be stronger Thai tea - refreshing. Not as sweet as I've had read more

Absolutely delicious! Best Thai food in Boston!! Literally the fish is crunchy and full of flavor. The tamarind gave rich and bold flavors that I look for in a southeast asian dish. The Thai Iced Tea helps cut down the heaviness of the fish. The crab fried rice has actual crab meat!! The sweetness of the crab meat elevates the fried rice very well. Came in on the opening day to try my absolutely favorite Tom Yum soup and it was DELICIOUS!!! One of the best ones I've tried! This place is def going to be my go to for this soup now! One thing - I did find the lemongrass and galangal a little bit hard to bite into, some pieces seemed too big for me, but that was it! The staff is super friendly and atmosphere is amazing! Can't wait to try more things on the menu next time! read more
We miss the old restaurant that was in this spot but Thonglor serves up delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. We came by on a weekday late afternoon and the place was relatively empty with one or two tables occupied. We ordered the pad kee mao, yum neur, & pad cha talay. Everything was delicious. The portion sizes are on the smaller side, although similar to everywhere else these days. Service was quick and efficient. Will definitely be returning! read more

Came with on a whim as we passed by this restaurant once recently and thought we should try it out on our way back from an open house. Even though it's a new restaurant with a pretty good menu (though not too extensive), the interior is neat, clean, spacious and simple with friendly waitstaff. No liquor license yet. Since we weren't too hungry, we ordered two special mains - Tum Tard and Panang Nuer and let me tell you the Panang Nuer is as good as it gets from its flavorful, coconut and fruity and layered spiciness of its curry with the beef and rice. Would like to see how they progress in the next year or so. read more

The atmosphere is definitely worthy of many stars. They set the mood for a good first date scene. The food however is way TOO HOT. I have had Thai for years and years. I even went mild on my meal choice and this was just covered in red pepper. I hated it. I think it literally burned the back of my throat from the spice. I couldn't even enjoy the flavor. I ordered Uber eats from here and was completely mind blown! I actually liked every single thing that I ordered from the menu. The pad Thai was absolutely perfect and I'm very picky about pad. Thai some places make it to eggy or too greasy in this place is absolutely perfect. Plenty of chicken and shrimp in the meat is a high-quality not like rubbery. I had a seafood soup that was out of this world with again plenty of seafood in it and the flavor of the broth in the ingredients in the broth are fantastic. It has a very nice lime leaf sort of flavor that goes really well with the seafood. Crab fried rice with a lot of crab on top. read more

Amazing food, very friendly staff. Also had the oysters here and they were amazing. They come with a Thai spicy seafood sauce and it makes the oysters 100x better. Very underrated spot. Go if you're ever in Brighton or need a new takeout spot. read more

Came here with hubby yesterday for lunch and this place was reaally good! We got the grilled squid to start. It came with a garlicky, thai chili, and lime sauce to dip the chewy squid pieces in and it was delicious-- but be warned that your breath will reak of garlic until the next day. I ordered their pad kee mao and that did not disappoint. Generous portions of protein and not heavy on the noodles which is common of most other Thai restaurants. Hubby ordered the moo gratiam and he loved it bc it flavorful on its own but he particularly liked the sauce that it came with to dip each piece of pork. Perfectly portioned here as well. We would like to return to try their other dishes. read more

Let me start by saying that the food here is delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it all! The Thai iced tea was flavorful without being too sweet. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and served with a mouth watering sweet chili sauce that was the perfect balance of sweet, heat, and tang. The Pad Kee Mao was amazing. The shrimp was cooked great, the chicken was tender, and the noodles were coated in sauce. The only thing I'd change in the future is asking for it to be more spicy. I added chili flakes which gave it a nice heat. The Tom yum was packed full of goodies- mussels, succulent shrimp, tender squid, mushrooms, onions and served with a side of white rice. The soup base was a delicious balance of sweet, sour, and spice. In addition to the amazing food, we were sat promptly, our server was friendly, and the food came out quickly! With all that being said, it's pricey. That's why I'm giving a 4 star review. We spent over $60 for 1 drink, 1 app, 2 entrees and a tip. This isn't an every Friday night take out place - it's more of a once in a while dine in experience. Im not sure when I'll be back, but it was delicious! read more

Came back here again and tried something else. Every dish is delicious. We tried the Kang Phed Ped and it's surprisingly good. The duck is so flavorful and meat is tender. The sauce is so good and it goes very well with rice. I highly recommend it. The mango with sweet sticky rice is very good too. My friends tried pad see ew and pad Thai and they are tasty. read more

After scrolling through yelp late one night, I saw that this place had just opened. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who shares in my love of different foods. We decided to stop in for lunch. We were both impressed the second we walked through the door. Smaller, cozy environment. Very nicely decorated and extremely clean, but that's not even the best part. I ordered the Tom Yum MorFai and my friend ordered the Three Flavors Fish. Both came with white rice. We shared our dishes. Both dishes were absolutely PHENOMENAL. The broth for the TomYum was so delicious, the right combination of savory and spice. My tastebuds were dancing happily. The three flavors fish was also delightful! The sauce had a general gaos flavor, but spicy like general gaos should be. Finally, our server was so nice and sweet! This place is a hidden gem and is going to be one of my go-to's from now on! read more

Thonglor was incredible!!! The sauce that came with the squid app was the best thing I've ever had, so good that I asked for 3 more servings of it... All of the dishes were 10/10 and the service was fast and clean. Our server was amazing and the sweetest ever. You will not regret coming!!! Prices are also very very reasonable. read more

Yes yes and yes to this place. Super delicious food, very flavorful. I love the pad Thai. I also really like the Roti Massaman. The kale dumplings are good too. Everything I've ordered here I like besides the fish balls. The service is good and the restaurant itself is very nice, nice lighting, good atmosphere and the tables don't feel too crammed. Overall great Thai food and awesome spot would recommend read more
