Wait, how have I not written a review of this heavenly treasure before today? Fresh Bread, Bagels, yummy granola, pizza, breakfast sammies...the best cream cheeses...all the gluten! This is the brick and mortar bakery so no ambiance but definitely some of the friendliest staff around making everything from scratch. Well except those bagels, they get those delivered from a bagel specialty shop in West Reading-- why mess with bagels if you can get them brought in daily and focus on the bread varieties! Have tried pizza, pizza crust to go, granola but not much bread. I love the dough to go - thin crust, good flavor. The "hot pizza to go" is very good. The dough may be the same as take out crust, but it is definitely raised. The take home tend to remain flat thin crust without a raised edge. Granola very good (somewhat dark). Overall I think it is a bit expensive, but high quality. Wish they would sell pizza dough balls without having to buy 20. Four stars only until I try more breads. read more

Thom's has been very strict following COVID guidelines. I've stopped a few time over the past few months and have great experiences each time. Masks are required, staff is always wearing them and you may not enter the store. The Salad on Crust is a unique take on the traditional pizza. I saw those Yelper pizza pictures and found myself dreaming of Thom's pizza. Who knew, a bread bakery, would have such delicious pizza? Those pictures don't lie, I'll tell you that. Only two tables, up front and my hubby and I snagged one of them. A large pepperoni pizza, took about 15 minutes. I should have taken a picture of it, but I just couldn't wait to dig in. Burnt the roof of my mouth, of course. A wonderful experience, a kind worker made my margherita pizza fresh while I perused their inventory. Grabbed a loaf of rosemary olive oil bread along with a rice krispy treat and everything was delicious. The rice krispy treat tasted like it was made with brown butter, and the bread made a wonderful grilled cheese and filled my house with a wonderful aroma of the ingredients. The website shows a picture of a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich using real eggs called Ernie's Egg Sandwich. This is an embarrassment to whoever Ernie is because what they show in the picture is not what they sell. They use fake eggs. They also don't list prices on their website. I ordered 4 egg sandwiches and one bagel with cream cheese and it was $45!! For fake eggs. They tasted worse than eggs at a continental breakfast at a cheap hotel. They looked like they were made in a mold and had the consistency of thick jello. Total let down and WAY over priced. I can't see why places can't just crack an egg over a griddle?? Never again. The bagels were good. Better off just not selling these eggs at all. And please do not false advertise. We went here while on vacation with my family and needed a quick breakfast and threw everything away. It was disappointing to say the least and disgusting at best. read more

I was lucky enough to dine-in at Thom's about one week before all the restaurants shut down and was fortunate enough to have Thom himself working at the store! From the moment we walked in, to when we left, dining at Thoms was one of the best experiences I've had. The store is a small cute half bakery, half pizza joint with a real-deal brick oven. Thom was beyond friendly, chatting with us and making us feel at home and providing recommendations to make our trip to Lancaster even more special. We wanted to try an array of items so we got a bagel with cream cheese, some pizza, and a loaf of bread to go. Everything we had was amazing. The pizza was hands down our favorite, made on their delicious bread that they're known for with a yummy tangy sauce. I hope Thom's is continuing to flourish and make delicious food through these tough times. Best pizza in town, hands down. Pizza in Lancaster is generally pretty average at best. But my hot wife and I stopped into Thom's today on our way back from the Clock Museum. Ordered a large margherita pizza and it was delicious. Crust was puffy, crispy, and chewy - the perfect combination of textures you could find in a pizza crust. Really exceptional. Staff was also super kind and offered us free samples of some of their other offerings like this sugar waffle which was also delicious! It's also BYOB which we'll have to remember for next time. Verdict: 4.5 - Support your local baker. Found Thom's place on Yelp and I had to check out the well reviewed pizza. There's something to be said for simple things done right and my margarita pizza didn't dissapont. I got my pie just as it comes, with the basil and olive oil. The bread was probably the highlight and that's no surprise because it is a bakery after all. The dough, sauce, and cheese are all in the right proportions so none of them overpower another. Get the basil leaf in there and it's a great bite. I recommend going and trying a pie or sandwich for yourself. While you're at it, get something to enjoy later on too. They have plenty of options, from breads, to bagels, cookies, waffles, and more. I got a light and fluffy peanut butter muffin. Thom was a great host and made me feel welcome throughout my visit. His wife came by and was very nice too. For sake of brevity, I'll just say that we want people like this in Lancaster so support your local baker and enjoy the good people and baked goods along the way. read more

Stopped in on a whim. The place was completely empty except the owners. We heard a lot about it so wanted to try a pizza. Menu listed margarita pizza so we ordered a small. The owner said they only have the dough for larges but we did not want a large. My thoughts, cut the dough in half and make two smalls. Well he ended up just doing the large anyway for the same price. Pizza was good. Very bread like instead of the traditional crust but the place is called Toms bread. Our margarita ended up just being plain cheese. I don't think he actually knows that it's supposed to be fresh mozzarella and basil. Sadly I was so hopeful to get a good loaf of Italian bread. I was bared from entry, because of Covid, OK I get it. All the bread was bagged, in plastic. There was nothing that had a great crust, crunchy and rich. It was all soft and boring like wonder bread. IF you want the norm, nothing special bread, here you go. I walked into this establishment for the first time in search for fresh bagels. Understandably, they were sold out mid afternoon. Disappointment must have shown on my face because the very kind gentleman behind the counter (owner?) offered to give me a free frozen Sesame bagel to try! He told me the best method to defrost it and even wrapped it in a plastic bag for me to seal in the freshness. He then added another free bagel to the bag in case someone else wanted to try them! The bagel was TOP NOTCH!! So much great authentic taste and after putting it in the toaster, it was crispy on the outside, but still fluffy on the inside. The customer service alone is superb (!!) and the freshness and quality of food stands equally with it! I can't wait to return and taste other items on the menu. read more

After seeing holiday lights at Longwood Gardens, we were ready to warm up with some pizza. Thom's was the perfect place! We were not able to get a hold of any staff via phone, so we opted to drive over. We placed our order at the front door and waited for the order to be ready in our car. Although we had to wait about fifteen minutes, we knew the pizza was hot and fresh out of the oven! It was well worth the wait! The crust was absolutely delicious!
