SHOCK! We stumbled upon this place after doing the train nearby and we were HUNGRY. At first look at the menu, we were surprised at how inexpensive the prices were - we actually did a double-take. And inside is real mom and pop, nothing fancy. My friend is visiting from Ireland, and he was craving real American style pizza. I told him I'd split whatever he wanted to order and so he went for a medium pizza with mushrooms and onions. The crust was amazing - fluffy and a bit sweet. I like it cheesy, and the right amount of cheese was on it for me. The only minor disappointment was that it didn't look like the mushrooms were fresh, maybe canned? Other than that, we shoved in as much as our stomachs could possibly hold - for him, that was three giant slices and for me, two. We just loved it. read more

This is an average family run friendly pizza place in the charming town of Strasburg, PA. Despite other reviews claiming it was NY style, I found the crust to be more similar to Pennsylvania -Marlyland styles, not long and thin crust like New York pies. It is greasy with good cheese but the NY comparison ends there. The sauce cheese combo is above average and better than chain delivery pizza. The avg crust and toppings hold it back though from being more than average vs other mid Atlantic Italian family run pizza shops. The menus are paper photocopies. We were in town for a show at Sight & Sound with a gaggle (the official term for "lots") of children and teens; after the show, despite gorging ourselves on roasted almonds, pretzels, and nachos at the theater, everybody was getting hangry. I thought we could drive the 1 1/2 hour trip home and then eat, but my wife and family informed me that I was dead wrong. To my surprise, just a few miles up the road on Main St was Pizza City and they were so hospitable and more than willing to provide my family with the sustenance we needed to survive the rest of our journey. Okay, I'm being sarcastic and salty about how hungry everyone was, but I'm very genuinely grateful for the food and hospitality! This place seems like a local favorite as I watched the lone chef, manager, cashier, (probably owner) greet numerous customers by name and remember their orders or suggest something they'd like based on previous orders. That's impressive! We ordered a couple large pizzas and he suggested we consider the Sicilian style which offers more bang for the buck. Each pizza was huge, very delicious, and very reasonably priced. For our group of 12, we ordered two pizzas, some fries and mozzarella sticks and we ended up taking home a whole leftover pizza. We ate and enjoyed for a fraction of the price I've previously payed at other establishments when we had more time to kill. Now I know the smorgasbords and family restaurants are the thing to do when you visit Lancaster, but if you want to really be treated like family, stop by this pizza joint and enjoy! Gotta say I'm picky and if this pizza city wasn't delicious I would never gave it 5 stars but I did so to me I was impressed.. first I live in new York home of the greatest pizza places in the world but I gotta say I loved pizza city just as much as my favorites .OK now walking into the place it's clean clean clean I like that we ordered a special pie which was loaded with tons of meats the medium pie was enough for 3 or 4 people I'm stuffed on 2 slices and all those toppings worked together the pie was cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing so if your on yelp and want a real delicious and clean spot definitely go there! there were two guys working there who were both really friendly also so in closing this new yorker gives pizza city two thumbs up thanks guys!! read more

Another visit to Pizza City! I try to come here whenever I am in the Lancaster area. The pizza was hot, ready on time for takeout and so damn good. I'm a fan of simple. Extra cheese or pepperoni. Both are very good. The crust is airy and substantial, but not too thick. The sauce...it's New York through and through. Tangy and zesty with a hint of sweet. The cheese...I could eat just the cheese and be happy. While there are better pizzas in the world, I am confident this is the best pizza you'll find in this part of PA. read more

The staff were very friendly and polite, which I really appreciated. :) My husband and I both ordered subs, which we weren't crazy about, but judging from the other reviews, maybe we should have gone with the pizza. I'd be willing to come back to try the pizza, but this wouldn't be my go-to place for subs. My other problem with the visit was the bathrooms. :/ My bathroom was out of paper towels, and my husband said there was no soap in the men's bathroom. That kind of inconvenience is always a let-down at any business - someone should be checking in on that. This is our first visit to Pizza City, thought we've driven by several times before. Today, we were in the mood for something different...and, that's just what we got. From the humorous greeting by the counter guy to the quality of the food. Very impressive. The neat thing was that the rest of the clients were very low-key. So, while they asked intelligent questions about my service dog, the folks were also respectful enough not to distract her from her job. As we got ready to leave, we were presented with a couple pieces of lunch meat and cheese...so that the service dog may enoy a snack, too. Lancaster is not a particularly good pizza town. To me, it's kind of ponderous. Proximity to NY, plenty of New Yorkers moving here, and a bustling food scene should mean there's some great spots. Sadly, that's not the reality. Pizza City is one of the three we return to. (The others are Espinos and Luca.) Pizza City is consistently good, the guy cares about serving up a nice pie, it's very inexpensive, and I'm 8 for 8 on having a solid experience. For a neighborhood pizza shop, what more can you ask for? read more

Terrible customer service experience today..... Been a LONG LONG time customer for years. But after being talked to the way I was today. You lost not only me but my wife and my family's business for life. Was not ok to yell at me and have a bad attitude when I asked how much sodas were and I didn't hear you the 2 times you said it. He sounded muffled and sounded like 2 for 2.50 but it was actually 2.50 EACH. Which it was ok that's fine but why the attitude. Not the first time he's nasty and it will be the last. Very simply, if you live within 100 miles of Strasburg, PA you have the best NY pizza in your backyard. It's worth the drive and worth fasting before you arrive. The pizza is ridiculously good and you'll be able to snub your nose at your NY friends who swear you've lost your mind! While I am loathe to badmouth a small locally-owned business I feel the need to weigh in because of the 5-star reviews. We ordered the house Special and found it to be nearly tasteless aside from the ultra-thin coldcut-type meats. No flavor from the thin, dry crust, sauce or cheese. I requested extra sauce to dip my slice in and, while it was provided at no additional charge by one of the friendly employees, it was chilled and extremely bland, surely from a can. The restaurant was doing a fairly brisk Sunday lunch business, was clean and comfortable and the staff were very pleasant and efficient but we won't be back. Also the woman with the black hair there is really nice and friendly. But ugh the guy behind the counter. I was trying to pay and he was so rude to me. I honestly didn't know whether to leave or what to do. It was so awkward and I was warned by where I was staying not to go there because of the poor customer service. But the day before same guy, very friendly,next day beyond rude. He said he didn't want to touch money wearing gloves? Well just say that right away. The guy the day before took my money with gloves and went straight to touching food.
