Oh Sam's, I absolutely hate giving a bad review, but I also don't appreciate biting into food that deserves to go straight into the trash. I'll start off by saying that the service was great. We were greeted and served by a very nice young person who was super friendly throughout our meal, even when my kids were being total douche bags. Thankfully there was only 1 other table when we arrived around noon on a Friday and they seemed very pleased with their experience. Anyway, first weird thing is that when we arrived I had 2 water bottles, one for me and one for my kid. We were told that we were not allowed to put the adult bottle on the table. I understand restaurants not wanting people bringing in food or drinks, but we would have only gotten water regardless of your rule, so it seems a bit silly to not allow a water bottle on the table. So I put it on the bench and drank it anyway. On to the food. My wife got a turkey sub which was described as "slightly worse than something I could have made myself with packaged deli turkey." One of my kids got a slice of pizza, which she said was good, though it was very very light on the cheese. Other kid got a hotdog, which he loved. Good job on that. My salad was the avocado bacon salad with grilled chicken. I watched a "chef" microwave the bacon, which was hot but dripping in oil, not crispy or fully browned in the slightest. The chicken was cold in the middle and based on the taste and texture seemed like it was precooked, frozen and then heated. The avocado was surprisingly the worst offender. Though it was a PERFECT color with no visible imperfections, it was very cold and tasted sour, which leads me to assume it was frozen and defrosted. I don't know and I don't want to know, but I had to spit it out and could not finish even 1/3 of the meal after taking that bite of what I can only describe as an expired avocado pickle slice. I asked our server to remove it from the bill which was done with no questions asked. Other than that, the place was clean and seemed nice despite the food. I would not return here. read more

Sat outside in their small outdoor area. We ordered our "go-to" Sam's meal-Cesar Salad and large Buffalo chicken cheesesteak accompanied by an ice cold draft. What do we love about Sam's-house made rolls for the sandwiches, dressing on the side for the salads, ample portions, and really nice servers who aim to please. If you've worked up an appetite riding or walking on the Enola Rail Trail, stop into Sam's afterwards. read more

Joy have regularly eaten here for many, many years... my parents & I (we live in central Maine & have always come to PA 1-3x a year to visit family (as in for the past 38 yrs) and as far back as I remember, we always have tried to hit Sam's each trip down. So, the menu is not exactly special. Standard small-business Italian restaurant fare. What makes Sam's stand out is the quality of the food and the top tier service from the staff. We were seated instantly on a busy Sunday evening, and didn't have to wait for service. The garlic knots and bread were VERY fresh and obviously not frozen. My other half ordered her pasta dish without tomatoes, and her salad was made to match, even without asking. My chicken parmigiana was perfect, not overdone or too much breading. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, not interrupting when our mouths were full. I Absolutely will be back on my next trip through, if only for some comfortable Italian fare. read more

We are struggling to understand the psychology of a place like this. It is situated just a few hours from NYC, yet all evidence points to the owners never having eaten or even seen an actual pizza. The margherita pie we had (the only menu option that did t actually sound revolting) was one of the 5 worst pizzas I'd ever had. Seriously, owner of Sam's, you should be embarrassed. I would feel humiliated if I ever served food at this level. What was so bad? All of it. "Cardboard" is a kind of cliche description of bad crust; in this case it's precise. Basically inedible. The sauce is sugary, bland, straight from the can. There was supposed to be mozzarella, but we couldn't detect any. Maybe for the better. I don't like to write mean reviews, but this place needs a zen slap. Wake up, and stop doing this to the good people of your community. read more

We eat at Sam's regularly. One of my personal favorites is their Sicilian Pizza! I've had Pizza all over Lancaster County and the United States; Sam's Sicilian is consistently the best! The crust has just the right amount of yeast, rise and crunch. The sauce is their own recipe and it's very good. I'm not sure where they get their cheese bits it's real and delicious. The service is always friendly and prompt. They're not fancy but it's a nice atmosphere with very good heating and air conditioning so you're always going to be comfortable while enjoying the great food at Sam's. There is easy off street parking for dining guests. They have carry out and delivery as well. read more

We've always enjoyed a reliably delicious dinner from Sam's for over 20 years. Glad to support this family-owned business. We love their mushroom and sausage pizza, and their cheesesteaks (mushroom and Cali style), and a toasted Italian sub. I often get their Greek salads with Cajun chicken. I used there app online picked from menu shown at 12 pm fora 630 pickup. Got a text confirming order sent my Pregnant daughter to pick it up to be told order was cancelled because they no longer offer special i ordered. The staff was very rude and aggressive with my daughter to point of being abusive. I have Had bad experience ordering over the phone also thought online would be better it wasn't. They now started charging customers for using debt cards and 1.49 to order online worst gouging I have come across in awhile. I was surprised when the manager Jessica told me I would be charged for the large half pepperoni pizza I ordered just a few minutes ago. I called to cancel my order because the cost just didn't sound good. I know the cost of everything is going up but $16.75 was more than I wanted to pay at that moment. I figured they could add pepperoni to the other half if they started making it, but when I called 4 mins later she told the pizza was already done and so I would be charged. I asked how they could charge me and Jessica explained that any time I would call in an order the $16.75 would be added to my order. I told her I would just never call again and she said that's fine but if you do there would be a charge. This was upsetting because I have been going to Sam's against my husband's request. He said they are getting too expensive. AND that I had canceled 4 mins after I placed the order. But the kicker was when I called 2 days later to speak to the owner to let him know a long time customer was not coming back the man I spoke with told me the pizza was done and that all the employees backed up Jessica that the pizza was done. Now there is no way of adding up the lost revenue. Rudeness is a requirement for working at Sam's Pizza and that's been true for many years. Because my boyfriend was hungry, I ordered from this place. We ordered the Large Buffalo Chicken Stromboli and a side of fries. Never have I heard of a place putting crispy chicken in a Stromboli before. Knowing this place is just a few minutes from where he lives, pickup was easy. I know I should have done curb side pickup because of the outbreak, but I needed to know what it looked like inside so I could properly do my review. I will say, as I usually do, typical Family Owned pizza place, decor was nice even though all of the tables were put away. They also sell alcohol and this place even has chilled wine, my one friend would approve. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes from paying. When I got back to my boyfriends place, that Stromboli was HUGE! The fries could have been slightly crispier, but you know, the Stromboli was so good that I almost forgot I had fries. The Garlic Knots are amazing! They make their own bread so the knots are fresh and coated with a garlic butter sauce. Soft and tender to the bite and practically melts in your mouth. Their cheesesteak (I had the Philadelphia with peppers onion and cheddar) is a nice take on the traditional South Philly cheesesteak but the homemade bread made it unique and special. Best cheesesteaks around. The rolls seem homemade and there is plenty of meat. Messy fries are delicious. On the healthier side, their salads are always fresh and tasty. We had a horrible experience at Sam's. The service was very bad, we were not brought what we ordered (size of pizza was larger, and we ordered small subs and we're brought large). We had to ask for our sons drink more than once, all the food was brought out sporadically not together and then the bill came. $70 for a pizza, 2 subs and an order of wings. I was waiting for my car to be finished at A&A auto down the street, so I wanted to check this place out. I had a Philly Cheese steak and fries. It was...ok. It wasn't terrible. The real problem was the owner or manager. At one point I was the only person in the place, along with the owner/manager and an older gentleman sitting inside the restaurant by the TV. Throughout my ENTIRE meal the owner/manager was speaking EXTREMELY loud. Almost a yell. He was talking about asbestos, Women and Babies hospital and all types of things that I could CLEARLY hear. Don't waste your time with this place! Cheeseburger sub had huge chunks of tomatoes, asked for grilled onions, but did not receive any. Pickles are extra, but you only get 3 little pickles. No flavor at all, and a quarter of the sub was just bread, no meat on both halves. Ordered a hot Italian sub, but it was not heated at all. Hardly any meat on it. Huge chunks of tomato. Waitress is sweet, but shouldn't be a waitress. She's the only one doing EVERYTHING! Took over 40 minutes to even get our food, and we were the only ones in there at the time. Never got any refills on the drinks. I asked for napkins, but she never brought any. They charge you a fee for using a debit card. Prices are insane. Cheeseburger sub is $17 and doesn't come with any chips or fries. Will never be back. read more

We have lived in the Quarryville area for fourteen years and have been to Sam's many times. However, over the past few years their service and attitude of their staff have declined tremendously. My Husband and and I went in there yesterday evening and the kitchen staff were standing in the back dancing and laughing while looking straight at us. There was one waitress making drinks. We needed a table larger than what was available, yet no one offered to help. Another couple was also sitting at a booth and left before we did. I also want to note they were not busy. We have been there before this and waited a long time before being waiting on and getting food. We will not be going there again read more

Was in the area with my mom and sister, thought we'd stop here. We ordered a large Steak Stromboli to share. The Stromboli only had meat, cheese, and onions in it. We wanted more than just that in it considering Stromboli's typically have peppers and mushrooms with it too. They charged us an extra $2.00 each for the veggies and on top of that marinara sauce didn't even come with it. You have to pay extra if you want marinara sauce.. for a Stromboli....
