Had a reservation for 8 and were seated within ten minutes. My party of four all ordered cocktails, but only one person really liked their drink. I'd say stick to wine or beer. The appetizers we ordered, however, were delicious! We had the caprese, which came in a wonderful pesto, and the scamorza had a great smokey flavor. I also really enjoyed my pasta dish, although others in my party weren't too satisfied with their mains. Fourth visit to the new 'Deli'. Every time, very much wanted to love it, but, just couldn't. Great concept, many promising elements...but, aggressively mediocre execution each time. Arugula salad with salmon swimming in balsamic dressing. A lovely burrata expertly dressed, and far too cold to appreciate. One of the best italian dinners I had on 12/20/2025! This was the first time back since 2020...before the renovation was done. Restaurant has a great fresh look to it. I had the eggplant which was cooked perfectly and the spaghetti had a great tasting sauce. My wife had the wild mushroom gemelli which she loved. A very good wine selection also. Beautiful remodel. Reminds je 9f the 59s movie sets w Frankie or Dino in NYC. I had 2- Berry Martinis w Tito's vodka. Well made. Appetizer was the soup of the day a tomato vase with crab meat. I usually dint like tomato's soups but I must say was delish. The Pasta entree was the tenderloin tip papardelle. I enjoyed it al dente. I took the remaining home and gad it the next day. It totally worked out that we weren't all at the restaurant at our appointed time bc of delays with our res. I'm thinking that the previous diners left late. The food was okay. We had the complimentary bread with roasted red bell peppers, shredded parm cheese and olive oil. It came out warm and was a nice touch. We ordered garlic bread and arancini. Both were great - nothing amazing but still good. The cocktail, Into the Black, was well made. We ordered an assortment of entrees: Shrimps & Crab Spaghetti - good Linguine & Clams - good but clams were over cooked and tough Spaghetti & meatballs - okay, the meatballs had a weird texture and we're not seasoned well We waited a long time for the entrees to arrive. Whatsa matter with me? I normally read the reviews first, prior to dining at any restaurant. This time, I skimmed over the little bio on their home page, that read, "Lancaster PA's beloved spot... authentic home-cooked Italian dishes...since 1946." I was sold, by that mere intro and was still stoked, when walking inside. Oooh, this restaurant looked swanky, with it's big piano by the entrance, an arrangement of plush sofas, colors black and white - not the scheme I was expecting from an italian restaurant, but I welcomed the decor's uniqueness. Though no reservations, we were promptly seated. Hot, chewy bread arrived, accompanied by herbed olive oil, freshly grated cheese and roasted, marinated red peppers. I loved this, I thought to myself and felt, italian goodness, was to follow. Yes to the calamari. My husband was pleased to see tentacles (a sight rarely seen). The calamari was perfectly tender, not too much coating and a success in our mind. We would have liked it to be served with lemon and so we, plucked the lemon from our iced teas; this was a quick fix - for, we didn't see much of our waitress. From here, it went downhill for us. We sometimes share our meals and normally, this isn't an issue. The restaurant will do this in the kitchen and when it gets to us, it's perfecto; not at Lombardo's. The Italian Wedge could have been split. The portion size was a bit small, though I Loved the dressing. I would have flagged down our waitress to request more, but she seemed less focused on her customers (us) and so, for our $16 - we dined on scant iceburg, a few crumbles of goat cheese, four halved cherry tomatoes, a scattering of fried prosciutto and a splash of dressing. The manicotti has got to be the smallest of manicotti I have ever seen. Picture a fried springroll and there you go - manicotti, encased in a fried hard crepe, instead of pasta. We were really disappointed in the overly acidic tomato sauce, tasting similar to canned Hunts. Yikes and sorry Lombardo. Shame on me, for saying "yes" to dessert; but in my defense; there was a chocolate cake listed, with buttercream icing! Who would turn that down? I actually, mildly choked on the cake, for it was so dry, crumbly (stale, perhaps) and it's helmet icing, reminiscent of a frozen Pepperidge Farm brand. read more

Ambience and Service were excellent, however I rated three stars because (1) the spaghetti was tough to chew probably due to not being cooked enough; (2) in my mind the sauce was not the original sauce (which I loved); (3) had to return because the spaghetti was not hot. Went to Lombardo's numerous times before the reconstruction. I loved the sauce and was hopeful to taste the sauce again. Frankly, the sauce tasted too commercial as if came out of a can. read more

Everything was good, but the Pizza con Funghi was clear favorite of everyone at our table. Everyone in our party was happy with their entrees. This time I tried the lasagna. You can really taste the variety of meats and it was cooked to perfection - nothing too crispy of too soggy. We had a little hiccup in our service that the management was wonderful about rectifying. I don't get the reputation. If this restaurant were along the 95 corridor, it would be out of business in 6 months. I eaten there twice over the years and it's yet to reach mediocrity. The sauce is flavorless. I had gnocchi that was very heavy and tasteless. The service was fine and people seem to enjoy going there. The ambiance is fine, the piano player is a nice touch. The food, however, needs a lot of work. I grew up and cook Italian, so I'm likely a harsher critic. read more

We dined at Lombardo's on a Friday night which was a busy place even at 5:30. Since it's dry January for a few in our family I can't comment much on the liquor. (There was one glass of red wine ordered and she liked it.) The arancini app was good, but we couldn't all try it because we only received 4 for a party of 6. I think $17 for 4 arancini is a bit pricy. Presentation was lovely though. My son ordered the spinach ravioli which wasn't a big enough portion for a young adult. My SIL said he would give the baked ziti a 3.5. The lobster risotto had a generous portion of risotto and I really liked the shrimp added to my Caesar salad...great flavor. This was our first time eating at Lombardo's. We had high expectations considering how long this restaurant has been around and how great it looked on the inside, a very nice ambience with live music. Unfortunately, the food did not match the great decor and service. The spaghetti sauce had a strange after taste, The steak was average at best, the pizza although it looked delicious was nothing special and the $10 slice of cheesecake was literally the smallest desert I've ever received at a restaurant. The bill hovered around $200 for two people and that was with no alcoholic beverages. We both left feeling very disappointed, and still hungry. Before dinner we were served delicious warm bread -- it was actually the best part of my meal. I had calamari for a first course which were crispy and hot. The dipping sauce was alright, but I had to ask for lemon. My short rib cannelloni unfortunately were filled only with cheese ... perhaps a short rib had been waived over them, but none were inside. After eating 2 of the four, I sliced open the other two to search for the meat, and found one infinitesimal brown spot, but it was piece of a mushroom, and this for $25! However, I must say that when I complained I was immediately offered anything else I might like. I was no longer hungry, and the charge for the entree was taken off of my bill. My husband and I joined another couple here for dinner upon their recommendation. We were sat promptly at our reservation time after being greeted by the friendly hosts. We sat in the bar area in a very nice oversized booth. Our server was great and very knowledgeable of the menu. She was great at giving suggestions as well. We all started off with a round of drinks which came quickly. The white wine was good and cold! My husband enjoyed his martini, which prompted me to order one. It was one of the best xt dirty martinis I've had lately. We ordered calamari and the burrata. The calamari was crispy and had so much flavor! The burrata - I think we were fighting over who could lick the plate clean. It was delicious!! We also were given bread, olive oil, and roasted red peppers. The peppers were a GREAT addition to the platter and the breast was soft. Three of us got the chicken Parmesan, which was a nice healthy portion. My pasta was cooked perfectly and the chicken wasn't overly breaded. My friend got the wild mushroom gemelli, which he said was full of flavor. I didn't think this place was overpriced. Took my wife here for her birthday dinner. The food was fine, I guess, but the environment was the worst that I can remember. We were seated in a lounge area near the hostess station. Basically we were on top of 3 other couples and couldn't experience a couple's meal at all. If I wanted to sit extremely close to strangers I would have ask to join them. There was an entire dining room with private tables but no, we were destined to listen to the guy at the next table (approximately 2 feet away) discuss his daughter's Porche. We arrive and are immediately sat to our table. Our waitress, Stephanie, greeted us almost immediately to get our drinks, which were DANGEROUSLY delicious. My husband got the Pinot Grigio, his favorite. I got the Spritz Me Baby One More Time. I could have gone for two (or three ) more times LOL. We ordered our entrees and were given bread. The roasted red peppers went perfectly with the warm load. We then got our entrees. Greg ordered the eggplant parm. He gave it a 5/5. The sauce tasted of adult ketchup in the best way 8 got the procuito and asparagus linguini and it was the BEST! I can't wait to order more for takeout. Overall, amazing time. We had lunch at Lombardos to celebrate our mutual wedding anniversary with friends. It turns out they had had their rehearsal dinner at this location 35 years ago. We had a great waitress who, although she was busy with multiple tables, kept coming back to check on us during our lunch. The food was wonderful and you could tell everything was made from scratch. We ran the gamut from the margarita pizza to the lasagne to the eggplant parm sandwich. The portions were a nice size and we were so full that we declined the offer of a gift of dessert from the restaurant in honor of our anniversaries. After lunch we took a peek at the private room and enjoyed talking with the staff about the changes that had taken place over 35 years. All in all it was a great experience. Had high hopes with the reopening but turned out a complete flop. Thanks to Gov Wolf we had to try this as takeout. Sure you don't get the full experience but even with takeout. The flavor should be there. I couldn't say anything had much flavor at all. Complete waste of $50 if you ask me. We started with Truffle arancini, they turned out to be tiny with a sauce that completely overpowered them. Tried one on its own. Just because you put regular mushrooms in it, don't call it truffle. They had zero flavor. Now the dinners. My wife's bolognese was extremely dry, tasted like they took a soft meatball and just crumbled it on top of pasta. Cannelloni was barely ok. Only thing I could say about the entire dinner was the bread was good. Overall, I know they were good at one time, rested on their laurels and became very bad.
