I cannot say enough great things about this doctor. He is so gentle and thorough. He cares sooo much about giving you the correct prescription. He also was so concerned about some symptoms that I was having that he gave me a ten times more thorough retinal exam than the so-called specialist at the fancy office I was referred to. She was like wham bam thank you ma'am. And so tough and abrupt. Geez. Dr. Wu is so gentle and accomplishes far more. Made me appreciate him even more and I was already at 150%. I never thought that an eye doctor's office inside of a target could be so wonderful. I was a walk in and was helped very quickly. Do not come here for any vision needs. It is very sad that Dr. Wu has incompetent staff. I can see that others have had pleasant experiences with Dr. Wu and I'm sure he's a fine practitioner, but his staff needs some help. Dr. Wu practices inside of the Target Store at the Spectrum. I made an appointment online and submitted all of my insurance information with VBA (my provider). Prior to my appointment, I always confirm that the doctor is in network for my vision plan. Both Dr. Wu and Target are listed as in network. I also called and VBA sent me an email with my eligibility listed to take with me to the appointment. Today, on a Sunday, I received three phone calls from his staff. The first call was asking me if I'm sure that I don't have VSP. Yes, I'm positive, I've had this same plan with VBA for 7 years. I was told that they had never heard of my plan before. Ok...so do a quick google search and look them up and call them if you don't believe me. This is common sense folks. Then a call back to say they don't know how to submit my insurance. I've had multiple exams at other Target stores, can you by chance check my history or call another Target store and ask for help? Or better yet, call VBA and ask them for help since you are listed as a provider for them. Then another call back to tell me that Dr. Wu doesn't think he's a provider for VBA. I do a quick search on the VBA website to confirm what I was told last week on the phone. Again, both Target and Dr. Wu are listed as providers separately on the VBA website. Then Dr. Wu gets on the phone to tell me that he submitted to VBA to become a provider but never received a confirmation from them. Ok...so call VBA and iron this out with them, my appointment isn't until tomorrow late afternoon. He says that I am the first person to ever try to use VBA and they can't be expected to know how to submit for them. Ummmm. I'm the patient. how is this my responsibility? My responsibility is only to verify my eligibility and find an in-network doctor to visit. How can I be expected to know what codes or systems you need to use to submit something from your end? Call VBA people!! I ended up canceling my appointment. Not once was it ever offered to me to reschedule if they weren't able to get the insurance claim figured out before my appointment. Not once did they apologize for calling me three times on a Sunday. Not once did they say, "hey thanks for your help in figuring this out". Perhaps I should be grateful I didn't have an exam here after all. It sounds like his staff doesn't know what they are doing. Not sure if they are Target employees or if they work directly for him, but either way, time to get some new help. read more

Dr Wu was fantastic. Offering extended services, scheduling subsequent visits the following week to taking actual time in explaining literally everything. Unfortunately, the office staff is unwelcoming when you call on the phone. Staff member didn't start their name and I had to ask for it. Then immediately demanded why I was calling. Upon quickly explaining was told don't call is we will call you. Finally placed on hold for over fifteen (15) minutes only to be hung up on by the staff. I was initially told to call back after 3PM to see if the materials were delivered today in order for me to have them with me on my travels, tomorrow. Customers should be able to have an open dialogue. Unfortunately, Marlene failed to live up to the positive comments left by others for this location. Making this my very first review because my experience was just that great! Walked in spontaneously and am I glad I did. Dr. was incredibly patient (had tons of questions and some I repeatedly addressed, afraid I was being annoying but Dr. happily answered each one). Loved how he explained himself throughout the whole exam of what exactly he was doing, felt educated at the same time. Left completely comfortable and pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my visit! Not to mention the optical side and the deals I got! Seriously, 2 pairs for under $200. I thought it was a joke. I've been seeing Dr. Wu for annual exams for several years, and find he is an excellent optometrist. He received his medical training from a top school, UC Berkeley, which shows in how he exams your eyes. He was the first doctor that I had seen that has a computerized system for testing different prescriptions for your vision. It's been pretty easy to get appointments with him, even during the December rush to use insurance benefits. He is part of the most popular insurance network, VSP. read more

Dr.Wu is an amazing doctor! I've been going to optometrists annually since I was a kid to get glasses and now contact lens prescriptions. He is extremely thorough and is very kind. I've been seeing him for exams for the last 2 years and hes fantastic! His prescriptions are spot on and I've never had any issues with my prescription contacts or glasses. He also has all the up to date equipment in his office. I highly recommend opting in for the optomap during your exam it's way more convenient then traditional dilation for your eyes. I don't really have high expectations when it comes to optometrists and that's just because the one's I've been seeing don't do a great job. My contacts were still blurry and my glasses didn't fit well even though they weren't cheap. I'm really glad I decided to get my eye exam this year with Dr. Wu. Apparently I came at a good time because he just opened his practice in the Target at Irvine Spectrum and I happened to be hanging out there that weekend. He's super approachable, pleasant, and knowledgeable. I had so many questions about contacts and my dry eyes and astigmatism and I felt like I learned so much from him. I think the best part is that he took his time with me unlike my previous experiences with other optometrists. Not to mention I got an unbelievably good deal on my current frames! Dr. Wu was extremely thorough and gentle during the eye exam. I never had an optometrist take the time and care to truly listen or inspect my eyes, which I appreciate since I have always had very sensitive eyes. I have very bad eyesight and I was getting headaches from my previous rx and surprisingly, he adjusted my rx to something less strong but it made my vision more clear and also relieved a lot of eye stress. Stumbled upon this location while shopping at the spectrum and the staff and Dr were so friendly I decided to have my son get his eye exam. They took my husbands insurance, VSP and it was so easy! The doctor was so great, he took his time with my son and explained everything he was doing. The doctor equipment was very up to date. The staff was great as well, they had a lot of frames to choose from! We ended up with a kids Ray Ban frame and I was able to pay the difference using my Target Debit card (yes, this is located INSIDE the Target!) so I was able to save an additional 5%! I had a great experience today. As I walked in, the staff greeted me and explained different promotion around the store. I had an appointment at 12pm and it did not take that long to see the doctor. Dr. Wu explained everything he did and he took his time during the eye exam which made me feel like he is very detailed and careful. He answered all my questions and concerns. He seems very knowledgable and professional. I highly recommend this place to everyone. There was a wide selections of frame to choose from which is a plus. Unfortunately, my insurance only allowed me to get an exam this year. So next year, I am most definitely returning to this location for an eye exam and a new pair of glasses.
