Thirsty Lion has some delicious takes on some of their food offerings, particularly their breakfast and brunch items. They were a regular stop in our family's restaurant rotations for several years. A few months ago, a couple of visits were disappointing because of slow service so we stopped going. Last week, I wanted to go again because there is one appetizer of theirs I adore and I missed it. My husband and I went for lunch on a Sunday, and they were fairly busy, as usual. We ordered, then waited. Then we waited some more. We waited long enough that I noticed a couple of families who were seated after us not only had been served their food but were nearly finished eating! We had not seen our server for awhile, either, so I asked the hostess if there was a manager on the premises. She said there was, but the manager was helping bring food out of the kitchen. Another 5-10 minutes passed and our food was brought out by the restaurant manager. She said 'the kitchen got backed up'. I asked if perhaps our order was not put it after we ordered. She said 'no, I guarantee that isn't what happened, we just got busy.' It sounded more like she was being defensive rather than offering an apology for our long wait. This restaurant has been busy every time we have been there, so are they recently short-staffed? I doubt that the kitchen just happened to 'back up' several random times in a row when we happened to visit. Disappointing. It's too bad because they used to be better. read more

2nd visit was great! We sat at a normal table this time and it was a lot more comfortable. Our waitress was nice and our food came out quickly. We started with the Ahi Poke Stack for an appetizer. It was DELICIOUS. The tuna was fresh, and all of the other flavors were on point. The wanton chips are my favorite, super crispy. I ordered the Brussels sprouts, quinoa, and roasted chicken salad (so did my sister-in-law), my brother ordered the Spicy chicken and waffles, and they ordered my nephew fish and chips. The food was great all around. I loved the freshness of the salad, especially the dried cranberries. I tried the spicy chicken and it was soooooo good. The batter is light and crispy, not too spicy, and the maple syrup really completes the flavors. I will definitely try that at our next brunch. This place has some special people working there! We walked in at 10:52 on a Friday night looking for drinks and an appetizer. We didn't realize they closed at that time, because it's kind of rude to walk into a restaurant right before closing time. But they were so nice and said as long as we order before 11 that we would be fine. Plus it was still busy which says a lot! We had a couple glasses of wine and the bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp and a spicy tuna roll. They were both just what we needed after a long stressful drive. I wanted to try the corned beef hash for brunch but they took it off them menu and they won't serve it anymore. So I had the breakfast sandwich which had good flavor but the bread was very chewy. The chicken and waffle was just ok and not much flavor. You definitely need the syrup because it is very dry. read more

I've seen this place a lot and decided to try it today. Didn't need a reservation as the restaurant was steady but still available seating. It's pretty big inside with a huge bar in the middle. The patio area was also a decent size as well. Table tops were clean but the seats were still a bit dirty. Riley, our hostess was taking care of us. She was very attentive and gave us her top choices to choose from. They do have happy hour EVERYDAY which is a plus for me! 3-6p daily. I had the HH artichoke dip, along with a HH blood orange margarita, and HH california roll. I'm a spinach dip girl so I loved it! Wasn't overly cheesy like other dips can be. Blood orange margarita was just okay. The flavor of the drink was flat to me. Also, I've had better sushi rolls. To me it tasted like it wasn't made fresh. My main meal I tried an item off the summer menu which was hot honey, sausage, calabrese salami & pepperoni flatbread. It was definitely my highlight along with the artichoke dip. My friend also shared with me the deep fried pickles she ordered. Now those were also good! With a spacious covered patio overlooking a green space, Thirsty Lion is an excellent place to meet for drinks and snacks. If you're looking for dinner, unfortunately the food is just meh. Let's start with the good - an excellent draft and cocktail menu with wine by the glass. Appetizers are also solid, although our portion of calamari was tiny for the price. I ordered the so-called pork belly ramen - except it wasn't really ramen, but some kind of flat noodles. It had some nice toppings, spoiled by an obnoxious fake smoke flavor. My companion got the fried chicken Mac and cheese. It sounds like Southern cooking heaven, but the fried chicken pieces were served whole on top of the cavatappi pasta, making it awkward to eat. We came here for brunch. I don't know why this place doesn't have more stars! For one, their black beans are actually seasoned/flavorful. My bf had breakfast tacos and it came with a side of black beans, we are scarred from black beans by multiple establishments in Southlake, so we were impressed with the black beans and they had pieces of bacon in it! My Bloody Mary was perfectly spicy and so were my chilaquiles. The perfect amount of crunch, spice, avocado and of course black beans! The theme is very pub like with low lighting and black/dark furniture. It was super clean when we arrived and not busy. The space felt very open. read more

I'm surprised by the relatively low score of 3.7. We went in for a St. Patrick's Day dinner and had an excellent experience. We started with the Irish eggs...a soft-boiled egg wrapped in a layer of breakfast sausage dipped in panko and deep fried. Served with spicy brown mustard. We had 3 entrees - shepherd's pie & fish & chips (very good); the hamburger sliders were juicy & tasty. Our server, Leyre (lay-duh) was very friendly and efficient. I came here with a couple of friends who were passing through town, as this is my "go-to" place for a nice, casual meal. The food was excellent, as always. I chose the Black Cherry BBQ Pork Tenderloin, and it was excellent. The service was extremely attentive, and a small matter with a foreign object in my beverage (a piece of French fry that had fallen into the ice machine) was handled swiftly and courteously. For folk who wear hearing aids, the place gets a bit noisy during the evening, so maybe not such a great place for intimate conversations during peak dinner hours. This is my second TLGP I have been to. The first one I somehow didn't review but I will make up for my transgressions here. This is a chain, but without the chain like quality of food. It's pretty damn good. Ordered the wings to start with the dry rub. They were juicy and cooked incredibly well. The last time I got the Korean pork belly with fried rice. And due to them being out of the steak salad I went what I knew. I rarely if ever drink. So I despite having a great drink menu, didn't taste anything. But their water, on the rocks, was the little Italian chef kissy fingers. Had my meal, watched the hockey game, then headed back to my room to catch up on reports. I'll be back. read more

This location is our favorite spot for "Me and My Girls" time. We love their Mimosa by the bottle for a weekend brunch. This was a Monday night visit. Restaurant and restrooms are always clean. Hostess seated us quickly and our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered my favorite Gochuchang Korean BBQ Pork with Kimchee Fried Rice, BBQ White Cheddar Burger, and the Tuscan Romano Chicken. Food was on point, delicious! Cocktails were amazing as well. Blood Orange Margarita, Raspberry Drop, and now the new favorite Pear Martini. 10/10 recommend. They will definitely stay on our list of "Must Visits". read more

We came to Thirsty Lion in Euless at 11:35 a.m. and it was a complete disappointment. It took about 10 minutes just for our waitress to show up and another 15 minutes to get our drinks. After we ordered, the food took over an hour to come out. Our waitress kept lying and saying the food was "on the way" when it clearly wasn't. When it finally did show up, it was overpriced and honestly not good at all -- completely subpar for what they charge. Save your time and money. There are plenty of better places around with faster service and better food. read more

The food and service was great. Even the hostess station was terrific. What was NOT terrific was the loud sound that was blasting making it tough for table talk. The ambiance was terrible because of the loud TV sound. This is a situation where the TV's are great for sports watching but the sound should be off. Our server spoke to the manager and he lowered the sound, but it was still distributive (especially the commercials that raise the volume on their own). We probably will choose a different nearby restaurant next time when we want to have a quality table conversation. There are many restaurant options in the immediate vicinity. read more

My wife and I had reservations here for after our movie. There was a line outside, but we were seated within five minutes. For a drink, I ha dthe Thirsty Lion margarita, and it was very weak with a very, very salty taste. I definitely will not try this drink again. For appetizers, we had the Scottish Egg, and although the crust did not have much flavor, the dipping sauce really made it very good. For entrée I had the Korean Baby Back Ribs, and my wife had the Korean sauce wings. The ribs were awesome, so very tender and with a great flavor with a little kick. The ribs were definitely a 10. For dessert, we had the bread pudding with the Carmel cream sauce. I love a good bread pudding, and although this wasn't the best, it was very good. Came for a quick dinner. An App came to us at the incorrect table, for the table 2 over. When our Apps came out we have to ask for plates and condiments from the Hostess, our waitress seemed to not know what was going on. Forgot one of our entree's, had to wait for that as the other food had already been delivered to the table. Chicken Cobb Salad is missing the Tortilla Strips and the Cotija Cheese.... either it's Blue Cheese or molding, either way it's old! Not to mention the Wait staffs AREA, full of personal bags, backpack and purses, when a blond with long hair decided to pull out her brush and brushed her hair in the seating area. First time here and it's a cute little spot. Came on a day that football was playing and they had the TVs on so you can watch while enjoying brunch/lunch. The waitress was extremely attentive and was quick to offer some suggestions and came back every so often to make sure we were good. Review Update 1-27-24 I've frequented this place for a couple of years now and have always had my eye on the Gochujang BBQ Pork & Kimchi Fried Rice menu item. I don't like kimchi and am not a fan of gochujang, so don't ask me why I've wanted to try this dish for so long. I finally took the plunge though, and I am so glad I did! The chunks of pork tasted tender, smoky, and were finished with a barbeque-y glaze. The rice basically tasted like your standard fried rice, but a little on the spicy side. The fried egg pulled everything together. The runny yolk balanced out any lingering heat from the rice and curbed any extra sweetness the pork might have lent. There were zero outstanding kimchi or gochujang "in your face" flavors. Everything tasted bold, balanced, and pleasant. YUM!! read more

As today is Veterans Day we usually go to one place have for years but this time I decided I wanted to try Thristy Lion we had stopped at one for brunch which had been delicious but that was years ago. We got there around 8:15 ish an we had about a 15 min wait which wasn't bad at all. Isaiah our waiter came with glasses of water and a tumbler (could be calling this wrong) full of water ask if we had any questions for him and then ask about apps. He was very friendly and easy going. I ordered a Cheese Burger with cheddar cheese w/fries well. I should have order it med well for my preference it was still a delicious burger and it had been cooked perfectly my husband ordered Gochuchang Korean BBQ Pork & Kimchi Fried Rice. I will warn you that rice has got a KICK! He enjoyed it greatly. The restaurant has wonderful booths that all restaurants should have cushion on the bottom and on the back for us people who aren't the youngest anymore. They also have beautiful high tables with very cushioned stools. The tables are spaced perfectly so you don't have to worry about walking behind someone sitting there is plenty of space. They have outdoor sitting I at last didn't go out there because it's cold and I'm a ninny and would rather be inside at night but it's a beautiful space. read more

This is one of my happy hour suggestions to people when they are in the area. I have visited this location multiple times for happy hour and twice for brunch. The happy hour is always good to me. There is a good mix of food and drinks. I love the chicken sliders, bacon wrapped prawns, and cauliflower. The drinks are okay. When I came for brunch the first time it was a very crowded Sunday after church. I was alone this day and you could tell the hostess wasn't sure where to seat me. I ended up at a big table made for a group. My server was kind and constantly checked on me. The kitchen was extremely backed up that day and I waited a very long time for my chicken and waffles. Recently they brought back the half price bottles of wine on Wednesdays so if you're with some friends who drink wine it is a great deal. The restaurant is always clean when I visit. The service can be iffy at times. I have been there on days where is it crowded and the staff is attentive and I have been there at times when it was empty and service was lacking. read more

First time here, met a friend for dinner. Since it was happy hour we ordered several items from the HH menu. The portions are smaller, so it's not a HH deal. Items ordered were cheese curds, French fries, calamari and chicken sliders. Fries, meh. Underdone and under seasoned. Calamari tasted frozen. Sliders were somehow overcooked but not hot. Best item hands down was the cheese curds. Delicious, light batter fried to perfection. We also each had a cocktail, mine was so weak (Moscow mule) I don't think there was much if any vodka in it. Atmosphere is kind of loud and it wasn't very busy so I can't imagine if it was. Host first sat us at a table which hadn't been wiped but we asked to move. Server was adequate but seemed pretty disinterested. Not sure if I would go back based on the experience, but I don't eat out much so I have to be more discriminating than some. read more
