    Yoga at sunrise
    Crystal C.

Pros: try to attend one of these classes every time I'm in town. What's better than sun salutation to great the morning sun on the beach? The sun is still low in the sky and bathes my body with a neutral warmth. The feel of the sea breeze rushing over me. Being on a nearly empty beach with only a handful of other people. I always feel peaceful and content before/ during/after class. Cons: a lot of people treat it as a "free" class, but their website recommends a "$5 donation." I usually donate. I use a beach towel instead of a mat since it cleans off better. Bring something to weigh the 4 corners down because the aforementioned wind can be rough. Yoga on the sand sounds like it would be more gentle and cushiony; it's not. The sand makes balance poses tough and it's a very hard surface to lay on during corpse pose. After I workout here, I usually walk over to the Big Pink for a big old breakfast. That's bad right?

Nothing like stretching in the morning sun. I went to the Monday 7-8am session. Benjamin was the instructor. It's Wonderful experience. If you're visiting Miami, I highly recommend. You won't regret it.

There is no better feeling than to reconnect with nature and enjoy an amazing practice, this is the place to be. Open to all levels, an array of teacher, and available twice a day, every day. $5 cash teacher donation is greatly appreciated. Better to bring a large sheet/blanket instead of a mat. Yoga in the sand, listening to the birds and ocean while being earned by the sunrise is quite a unique & wonderful experience.

Everyone just shows up in front of this lifeguard stand- very informal!

The first night we got in we went to the beach and saw a group practicing yoga by a cute orange and red lifeguard hut so we decided to google "Miami Sunrise Beach Yoga" and low and behold we found Third Street Beach Yoga to be the group we saw AND it's donation based! How amazing! I didn't catch our instructors name but she was adorable and definitely told us all to embrace the unbalance that sand can create and don't worry about falling and trying new things. There were people from all walks of life - from a man who had to be somewhere in his 70s transitioning from crow to a headstand to young people who have never done yoga. The turn out was probably around 12 people which is nice because you can get individual attention and our instructor came around to make alignment adjustments which is something I LOVE in a class. They meet daily at 7 am and 5 or 6 pm depending on if its winter or summer. I'm not really sure how people can leave a negative review when you can decide not to pay if you didn't enjoy it but to each their own :) (also I would still donate but that's just me) It's such a pleasant surprise to find people teaching yoga out of a love for it and not to monetize it - especially in somewhere as expensive as Miami. I felt wonderful the entire rest of the day

We showed up for the evening yoga one night and found an empty beach. (Nothing was posted on their Facebook page about a cancellation, either.) Refusing to give up, we woke up at the crack of dawn another day hoping to have better luck. We did! Benjamin showed up and started us on-time (on-time Miami time) for sunrise yoga. It was a really cool experience! I've been listening to my meditation app with beach waves as the background noise for a month leading up to this trip and kept imagining it would be real; on this morning, it was. Doing yoga in the sand is a bit tricky, but it was a lot of fun. Feeling the morning sun on my face was perfection. TIPS: 1. Bring a towel, no mat. 2. Make peace with the fact that you will get sandy. It's inevitable. You'll be fine. :) 3. Bring cash to pay for your wonderful class. It's by donation, but come on. Don't be cheap. 4. Namabeachste

Lets sEE how many times I can use the word "epic" in a Yelp review. Winner gets a secret, epic Yelp gift! Everything about this yoga claSS is epic. From the views to the instructor, all are epic. Even my longboarding ride over here was epic. I love how the claSS ends perfectly just as the sun is seTTing. You gueSSed it, epic. It is also surreal how gorgeous the ocean and sky blend as one, at the end of another epic day. My sister is a yogi and my uncle is a yoga Master, so i figured now it's my turn. Yay for the newbie yogi! This class was the perfect starting point for me, as it went at a pace beneficial to all levels (I think lol). I engaged in some hard core breathing exercises and various challenging yoga poses, which all equated to an epic feeling my body hasn't felt since I was in the 6th grade. Or maybe it was just the fiesty flatulence I've been fighting to get out since the wEEkend. Talk about a relief. JK ppl. It was since Taco Tuesday. JK again ppl. 3rd Street Yoga is the perfect studio for all yoga practitioners. #Namaste #Epic #Greenlife #YinYang PS Bring a large, epic towel!

After partying on South Beach the night before, My friends and I dragged ourselves to Beach Yoga and I am SO thankful that we did. Beach Yoga has the be the BEST kept secret in Miami. Beach Yoga was the most relaxing and rewarding yoga experience I've ever had. The ocean, the blue sky, the crisp ocean air and the peaceful rise of the sun, who can ask for a better yoga environment. The instructor was welcoming and walked among the class correcting poses and giving instructions. For a small donation of $5, Beach Yoga was the best way to detox or energize you for the rest of your South Beach weekend. TIP: use an extra sheet from the hotel as your mat

You've never done a sun salutation like this before.

What's better than waking up with the sunrise on Miami Beach? A free (donation suggested) yoga class to greet that SoBe sunrise! Third Street Beach Yoga meet ups are one of Miami beach's best kept secrets. They've been rolling since forever with a loyal group of devotees and instructors who teach via suggested donation. Classes tend toward more traditional Hatha and Iyengar style sequences, although yogis can speed up the pace for a more vinyasa-style practice of desired. It's very come-as-you-are, unpretentious, and highly recommended among locals in the South of 5th neighborhood. I think I've found the secret to all these beautiful happy South Beach people...

    Sunrise plus yoga = love.

Great place to drop in if you're passing through. I was on my way back from Cuba with just a one night stay in South Beach. My hotel told me about this free/donation based yoga opportunity. It's simple to find at 3rd and Ocean near the orange and yellow lifeguard station. You can't beat a beautiful sunrise and yoga. Came for Saturday morning 7a class and there was just a handful of people. The instructor was helpful and came around to help correct postures, etc. Left a $10 donation and would definitely visit again when in the area.

sunrise / sunset... fresh air... beach babes... Yoga. Doing yoga on the beach is serene yet exhilarating. The sunshine instills energy in to your body, provoking your practice. The sand acts as a shock absorber, reducing impact, which allowed me to deepen my practice. I have attended 3 classes on the Beach @ 3rd Street and ((by far)) enjoyed Heather's classes the most. Actually, I couldn't say enough nice things about Heather. She was able to customize classs to fit everyones needs, she was able to adjust me into poses and help me to deepen my practice. Heather was in no rush to leave after class and was more than willing to stay after class, socialize with the yogi's and/or work on poses one-on-one with her studens. A girlfriend of mine practiced yoga for the first time at the Beach with Heather and didn't struggle though the class one bit. Thank you Heather, for being flexible/accomodating. If you are a local, or a visiting Yogi, ((evn the newbies)) you mustn't miss out on Beach Yoga. It's by far one of my favorite things "to-do" A few items to bring with you to beach yoga: a large towel or blanket, yoga mat, bottle of water, 5$ donation + tip for the instructor, camera.

This guy got sand in his eye post yoga.

I am based in New York but wanted to take a quick class on holiday in Miami…read more I was so impressed with Synergy yoga and wish it existed near me. I took the Hatha class with Felipe. The studio is very nicely done with water and they were kind enough to give me a complimentary mat for my first class. Felipe's class is exactly what I want from yoga. It's a lot of stretching and spending time in the poses. His aura is very calming. He also does a lot of hands on adjustments and I felt stretches that I never felt before. We also had a sound bath at the end of class that I really enjoyed. That in itself is of high value at other studios. I've paid $45 just for a sound bath and it was included here in the class. We went over which I was grateful for because it was a longer time relaxing and enjoying. I would 10/10 recommend Felipe if you have the chance to take it

I didn't not see the message. Since I was traveling, I didn't have a chance to change clothing because my hotel room wasn't available. After entering, I was asked to remove my shoes. I had on a long maxi dress, so I came out in my bra and underwear. I could tell it wasn't ideal and she was not pleased, but that was the best I could do. The session took place on the floor. It involved stretching. I suffer from calcification in my shoulders, and one shoulder was particularly painful, so that made things awkward too. I was advised to take care of my weight and health. My attire definitely made it more difficult to do some of the stretches. She tried to cover my private area in order to do the stretches, but that wasn't enough. Overall, it felt awkward. I was very much self conscious and felt inadequate.

Then one day they started using a very odorous chemical cleaner. I could smell the fumes when class started, but practiced anyway and tried to ignore it. I got very sick for the next 24 hours, and so did my friend. I brought this to the attention of the studio owner who said that the cleaner did not have a smell. It appeared that someone had put the wrong cleaner into the mop, and was using a toxic bathroom cleaner in the hot room instead of the blue cleaner they had used before with no fumes. I was promised it wouldn't happen again. Sadly, it happened several more times. I ended up leaving because I didn't want to compromise my health. When I asked the beautiful teacher, Maria Elena, for help, she became very Insulting and told me to just relax more. She further told me I would experience problems at any shala, because they all use the same cleaner. This is not the way a yoga teacher should talk to anymore, much less someone concerned about breathing toxic fumes and harming themselves. I just wanted to experience her beautiful class in a safe environment. Sadly, I don't go here anymore. I really miss the classes as they were so good for me, but not at the expense of my lungs or with such a lack of compassion for the students legitimate health concerns. UPDATE: I was sort of done with this but I just received a very aggressive call from the owner, Raquel, in regards to my identical Google review. Rather than apologizing and rectifying the situation she was aggressive and in denial, refusing to acknowledge or solve a super simple issue of using the correct non toxic floor cleaner they had for years. If you go on google you will see reviews of other people getting sick. Stay away if you care about your health. So sad this goes against the entire premise of yoga in how they treat their customers! Shame on them!
