It is a solid coffee shop in Boston. Its coffee beans are Stumptown sourced. Stumptown is one of the best coffee roasters and shops in Portland, Oregon. I ordered a latte. The art was good. There was a slight bitterness so the coffee beans were not quite extracted flawlessly. Moreover, it was also slightly watery. Nevertheless, it was a solid latte. The space and decor was excellent. There was a lot of seating. However, it was very busy around 1. I had to wait a bit to get a seat because there were a lot of customers. Decent coffee but not worth the hassle and long wait. It was busy but not more than any other busy cafe I've been too. The wait was far too long (~15 min for 1 drip, 2 pour overs, 2 lattes) and the design of the customer flow for order and pickup counter is 100% the wrong direction. They make customers wait for orders in the smallest/tightest spot in the back and then carry your order through the entire crowed to get out... dodging, twisting, turning to get out. Squeezing by 10 to 15 people with hot coffee (or multiples) through the line/crowd to get out is not the safest path either. The entire setup is very inefficient. Also, we had to remind the staff we were waiting for our order, and one coffee was wrong. There were only 2 orders before ours. 4 staff working behind the counter; maybe they need more help or a crew leader ensuring orders were getting out quickly and properly. The staff seemed disorganized overall. The long wait coupled with the crowded problematic line/flow of people would make me want to avoid that location, and let others know so they can decide for themselves. read more

Mid bagel. It was badly toasted, only the crust had browning and the middle of the bagel was practically cold. The egg was not made in house, it looked like an egg you get from McDonald's. There was not enough cheese and it was barley melted. The bacon was cold and too cooked. All around not good. Any other small non corporate place will be better. I'm was pretty surprised on how hard it was to find a place open for breakfast! I felt like I was walking for blocks finding something before I came across this place. Yelp map took me around the back but that glitch was on the ap. I walked in and loved the vibe. Tiny coffee/tea house with the menu up on the wall. I do wish they had a menu to hold in your hand but I guess you can just read the wall while in line. I went with a grilled cheese on sour dough with 2 cheeses and a hot chocolate. I admit I was taken aback by the price, that was the most expensive grilled cheese! But I will admit, it was delicious! Very packed when we were here. Took a while to get coffee, but understandable. It was well worth the wait. I got a medium caramel latte and my fiancé got an English breakfast tea. Both were fantastic. Great tasting coffee and not overly sweet. If you have a sweet tooth like me, definitely grab a Nutella croissant. So flaky and stuffed with Nutella. Great coffee, delicious looking pastries (admittedly never tried them), and Adderly charming Boston spot centrally located at the start of Newbury Street near the park. Highly recommend smelling all of their coffee beans at the back before choosing a flavor. They come and drip coffee's. Or go with a latte. I recommend the honey or ginger. I can't give it five stars because it's not wheelchair accessible. Down multiple steps. But I believe the outdoor area is accessible. read more

I am giving this a solid 5 stars - I love this place! On a spring Sunday morning my husband and I wanted to wander around Newbury Street. After feasting my eyes on high street stores (Tiffany's, Ugg and Georgetown CupCakes), we walked into the Thinking Cup. This is a perfect blend of a European Cafe mixed with an American coffee shop. Think Mozart's Vienna meets Monica Geller's New York! The decor is great - musical instruments on the walls, the tables are unique each with a Bostonian newspaper and an artifact or two under a glass cover. Beautiful! The food and wonderful - they have a mixture of pastry and sand which breakfast items - and the highlight is the coffee: superb quality! Looking forward to going back - I really liked this place. Thinking Cup was one of the top results when I yelped for coffee shops in Boston so I was super excited to try their latte when I stopped by Back Bay. The coffee shop was packed when I walked in, so I decided to get my latte with whole milk to-go. The lighting was a bit dim so I would say it's a better environment to sit and chat with some friends, rather than to work or to read. The wait for my latte wasn't too long - the usual time that it takes to make a latte at every coffee shop. I like that the Thinking Cup also has honey available for those who are not fans of sugar or artificial sweeteners. Overall, I was impressed with the taste of the coffee. It definitely lives up to the hype, but I did not like that there were some grounded coffee bits at the bottom of my cup. I drink my coffee with a straw (I know, weird), so it was inevitable that I drank some of the grounded coffee bit as well. However, the latte tasted amazing and I liked that the barista actually took his time to draw a perfect heart. Definitely would come back for another cup if I'm in the area! read more

The Thinking Cup got me thinking, which is always a good thing. The place itself is nice, but pretty small and so crowded! I got introduced to it by a friend of mine, who is a big coffee lover. A solid 4/5. -Texture: The best part about a good looking croissant is that sometimes, it also delivers on the first bite. This is one such croissant. The perfect amount of crunch on the very well cooked outside , and generous but not overwhelming buttery layers on the inside. Very moist. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,  Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.  And one of these things is definitely a bite of a perfectly well cooked croissant. 5/5 -Taste: It's not overly buttery, but it has a great flavor profile still. Loved this place! They serve Stumptown and I had an excellent iced coffee. Lemon blueberry doughnut and morning bun were incredible (that bun blew me away) and the bagel with lox was awesome, too. We came here for breakfast. My new favorite breakfast cafe on Newbury. My friend got the Greek while I got the breakfast burrito with chorizo. I also got the coffee. This place is so popular and I've probably came by two times before but left due to how crowded it looked. One day my friend and I came in and we were lucky there was an empty table. It's such a cozy little place to chat and catch up with a friend. I got the matcha latte while my friend got the mocha. I do like things sweet and they put zero sugar in their drinks then again that's a good thing since everyone can add according to their preference. You just feel guilt when you got a pile of sugar packets though . My friend and I both got the cheesecakes(strawberry cheesecake and pumpkin cheesecake). I really really enjoyed my cheesecake. We stopped by here during our trip to Boston for some coffee. The coffee shop was pretty small, but we were able to find some seats by the window. This place was so popular! There were people constantly coming in and out! The place gets pretty crowded and loud, but the noise level wasn't too bad as I was still able to read and my husband was still able to study. They do not have wifi! Coffee was freshly brewed! I really enjoyed my iced hazelnut soy latte and my husband also liked his mocha. Came here during my weekend trip to Boston from my sisters recommendation. I came on a Saturday morning for breakfast, and the place was packed. Took some time for us to order because the line was moving pretty slow, but that's expected for a weekend. They serve typical cafe food- breakfast sandwiches, fruit cups, oatmeal, coffees/teas, etc, and baked goods. Nothing really out of the ordinary that you would expect from a coffee shop. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, which was delicious but a lot smaller than I expected, and a fruit cup. It took about 15-20 minutes to prepare the order. The sandwich was really good, It was not filling however because of how small it was. Prices are high for what they sell. It's a very cute shop and I can see the appeal, but I'm not sure if I'd be back mainly because it's typical coffee shop food/drinks that you can get anywhere, and probably at a much more reasonable price too. I had never heard of Thinking Cup and it just happened to be on our walk back to the hotel. We definitely got lucky; this place is a gem. They have a great selection of pastries, salads, and sandwiches on top of their coffee menu. It's got the cafe feel plus a little more. It was a bit hard finding a table to sit at on Friday evening; that was the only negative. We waited around ten minutes and was able to find a seat. This place is a self serve type; you pick up your order and clean up your table when you leave. Kind of like Panera bread. The affogato had a generous helping of vanilla ice cream topped with espresso. The chia pudding had berries that made it sweeter but not too sweet. The almond milk and consistency was fantastic and I was really impressed. It comes in a plastic container with a lid for easy transport if you take it to go! Juice is fresh--best thing about my experience. The atmosphere is pleasant, amiable. Brewed coffee was just okay. Bagel was somewhat dry. Egg and sausage sandwich was fair. Whoever manages the place needs to put someone in charge of bussing tables and picking up trash. Especially out front. It's the first thing people see. I wouldn't make an effort to go back. Update: The manager contacted me and assured me that the poor experience we had was an anomaly. There was an unexpected staffing issue and a back up plan is now in place. I appreciated the follow up. They care very much about keeping a clean and pleasant environment. We will give it another try next time we are in Boston. read more
