One of my favourite dessert places. They make beautiful, delicate and delicious desserts that are perfect for any occasion. I have had a few of their cakes and all of them have been amazing! The nice thing about this dessert place is that it is opened late. The other great option is takeout. They make sure that they pack your dessert perfectly so that by the time you open the box at home, it is in perfect shape. The service is decent. Well worth the hype. Wednesday evening at 6pm and we lined up for half an hour to get a seat. Cute bakery cafe where people seem to enjoy just grabbing a cuppa and sitting down. There isn't a lot of seating, hence the wait outside so we ate pretty quickly to open up seating for others. Doesn't help that it's raining outside either! We grabbed a cappuccino, cafe mocha, chocolate croissant and a passionfruit mouse cake. Hands down best choices to get. The passionfruit was absolutely delicious and it was like eating the real fruit if you closed your eyes. The croissant? Decadent and so soft. Definitely try this place at least once. read more

We came here on a Friday night and it was quite busy, both indoor and outdoor seating was a little difficult to find. The ambiance is quite nice as the outdoor patio is nicely heated and well lit. We ordered the passion fruit marquise, opera cake, and earl grey blackberry chocolate cake. We agreed that the earl grey blackberry cake was the best, as it was not too sweet, had a strong earl grey taste, and all of the flavors surprisingly worked very well together. The passion fruit marquise was also quite good and had a nice sour passion fruit taste. The opera cake was nothing special and was too sweet. Cool place for both late night sweet pastries and early morning pastries. We came here both in the evening and also in the morning as it was close to where we were staying. The sweet pastries address super tasty and well decorated. Yea pistachio and passionfruit ones were my favorite. The pistachio has that great flavor to it and was not tasty sweet nor heavy. This is a great little cafe. A definite must visit when you're visiting Vancouver. They're best known for their macaroons. They always have a nice variety of different flavors to choose from. I've been coming to Thierry for years now and their macaroons are always good for a nice after dinner treat or to take home. It's a small cafe and they're always busy. They have extra seating outside but, still doesn't seem large enough because it's always full! They also have lots of other cute little desserts to choose from and homemade chocolates. You could get a whole cake if you need one for a special event. They also have a good selection of drinks and if you wanted an alcoholic beverage they have that too! Come past 11 AM if you are planning on getting any of the cakes. We came at weekend opening but sadly only breakfast pastries were available. Since we were already there, we ordered a Half Kayambe 72% for $5.35. The drink was warm, very rich, and a little sweet. A full cup of the liquid chocolate (for $9.95) would have been too much. Fortunately we were in the area later in the evening and returned at 7 PM to sample the cakes. The place was absolutely packed though, both inside and outside on the patio. I had to squat by a table because of the lack of chairs. ----- Black Forest: cherries, chocolate, light pastry cream, chocolate sponge ($7.75). The cupcake-molded chocolate shell is a nice way to present the cake. I had originally thought it was a cupcake liner. A slight alcoholic taste can be noted. ----- Fromage Blanc: fromage blanc mousse, lemon curd, raspberry linzer ($8.50). I liked the intricacy of textures in this cake! The creamy mousse on top, crumbly cookie on bottom, and a fluffy cake with two layers inside where one is thicker. This was my favorite of the three, although the lemon flavor was not as strong as I had anticipated. ----- Passion Fruit Cake: passion fruit mousse, white genoise, passion fruit gelée ($6.95). A powerful passion fruit flavor with a smooth consistency. The tiny macarons were cute as well! ----- Besides the insufficient seating, I was not fond of the homeless people wandering in to use the restrooms, steal rolls of toilet paper, and mess with some of the shelf items before leaving. The jazzy music playing fit the cafe vibes perfectly, and the decor of the place is very aesthetic. I ordered an apricot danish and Spanish latte, and the danish seriously surprised me. You could really tell the quality of ingredients and mastery of technique, from the flaky pastry to the specks of vanilla bean in the pastry cream. *So* good! On par with ones I've had in France. I've been here many times hefore and last night my friends and I were craving something sweet after dinner so we stopped by this location for a little late night desserts and it was such a lovely experience. Since dine in was open again, there was a greeter outside the cafe to seat you at an assigned table and you order at the counter. We got the chocolate trio, millefeuille, and a dark chocolate succes. We also got a peppermint tea and a caffe latte to go along with the desserts. Once the order is ready, they put it all on a tray for you to bring to your table. They had heated panels by the seats so it was so warm and cozy and with the desserts made the ambience very romantic. The caffe latte was perfectly made and complimented the sweetness of the desserts. We shared the 3 desserts and I found that the millefeuille was my absolute favourite. The buttery of the pastry shined through the creamy delicious custard and was so good with every bite. The dark chocolate succes was also really good but a bit simple, just tasted like a chocolate coated brownie. The chocolate trio was good too but a bit too sweet with the white chocolate layer, we took that layer off and it started tasting way better. I live for dessert and Thierry is one of the only places in the city where you can get fine French baking and desserts. The desserts here are on another level, when compared to most other patisseries/dessert options in Vancouver. The location and atmosphere are great. Perfect place to come after dinner/shopping etc. I usually just get takeout, but I've come with friends a few times and it's always lovely to sit and eat dessert with some beverages. I've never had anything from here that I didn't enjoy. Though I much prefer their cakes to the viennoise (croissants, etc). But truthfully I only ever come here later in the evening so perhaps the viennoise is just not as fresh at this time. I can't come here without leaving with a box of macarons. They are the best I've had outside of Paris. However, I do prefer them in the spring/summer over winter as the flavours to choose from are a lot better. If you like chocolate and hazelnut you will love the marquis, but be warned it's extremely decadent. The savarin is probably my favourite, its very similar to a rhum baba. The tiramisu is really good, but I usually go for options I can't get anywhere else, same with the chocolate trio. I usually get a passion fruit cake to contrast some of the heavier more decadent desserts. But the tarts and even the millefeuille are also great options if your looking for something lighter. The pastry in them is always perfect If I'm preordering a large cake, I usually go for the black forest. They're also kinda slow to clear tables if anyone left their dishes. Half of the store is where all the chocolate is and seems very pretty and pristine but the other half doesn't seem to fit the atmosphere. The desserts are super good and never disappoint. Whip cream isn't sweet though which seems a little weird. I get that it compliments the sweetness of whatever it's on top of, but I've definitely ate just the whip cream more than once without thinking and it was a terrible experience. Theirry never seems to let us down when we go to get something to fill our sweet tooth. Theirry is an upscale, beautiful establishment that makes you feel as though you've almost stepped over the ocean to a European bakery. They offer a selection of baked goods, chocolates and drinks. We tried more macrons, this time we chose matcha, salted caramel, raspberry and lemon. All of them were amazing. Each macron is $2.60 and they do sell them in larger quantities. My personal favourite so far has to be the matcha because it tastes like green tea ice cream, and the raspberry because you're delighted with a surprise of a real fresh raspberry in the centre. This time that we went we got Chia tea lattes, and I have to say it is the most amazing chai tea I have ever had. I have had my fare share of Chia tea lattes from smaller shops and large, but theirs takes the cake. And they offer it with Oat Milk, which is truly appreciated! They are also able to ask the staff in the kitchen what items are suitable for vegetarians, as many of their items do sometimes include gelatine. Just be sure to ask, and they will be able to let you know. At this time they're open during covid, and following guild lines to keep everyone safe. There is hand sanitizer, clean tables, and there is spaces seating. They have seating available inside and outside. Due to theirry being small seating is limited, and at busy points there isn't always seating availability. I yelped to see where I can get the best chocolate cake in the downtown, this place showed up, cute place for sure, but they have no selection of chocolate cake which does not have hazelnuts. I m okay with hazelnuts-- but not a big fan. Having walked to Thierry and really craving a chocolate cake, I ended up getting their popular chocolate cake. Very good dessert in a bustling atmosphere. The place was very busy so we initially got our food to go unsure if we would be able to find a table but luckily we were able to find a spot in the end. My girlfriend is more of a chocolate person while I prefer the fruity desserts so we got one of each and they were both delicious.
