Omgoodness. I finally made it to the bakery "There should always be cake" and Its as cute as Ever! Freindly customer service! Best best surprise is KLove music was playing. And immediately I knew God is awesome!! I was stranded in the auto zone across the street waiting for a tow truck for over 4 hrs in the blazing scorching heat and When finally I left to walk home. Heaven opened up its doors and all I saw was " there should always be cake" their prices are ridiculous reasonable. I feel like they need to up $ the prices of their delicious desserts and drinks. Cost of living is up. Their beautiful dessertsand DELICIOUS COLd coffee blend. Yummmmm!! Worth every penny. For whaat its worth I felt amazing sitting here indulging while listening to my favorite christian songs. The establishment feels like its a tiny gem from a lifetime movie and I am here for this !! Super clean. Did I mention super cute seating area. Please don't come and eat all the desserts leave me some. Show some love and support to this bakery. Its adorable. read more

Went there to get a chocolate cake with chocolate filling last year. The service was good and quick. The ambiance is very cute inside. I took off a star for the vegan vanilla cupcakes they were ok and the price. For this small cake it was probably at least $100 and the top part of the cake I got separately from Etsy. read more

This small bakery is a gem! The desserts are delicious and reasonably priced, though the cakes can be a bit on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for. They can make any dream cake come to life, no matter how elaborate. The shop is small but cute, and they offer cake classes for kids, which I think is such a unique and fun idea. My favorites to try are the carrot cake slice, cookies (every flavor), and their cannolis, which are always fresh. The hispanic owner is a sweetheart and very accommodating. Lovely and neat boutique shop. Presents very well. Wide and interesting selections of cupcake and cookie options. The ice-cream scoop-sized ball of frosting on top of the cupcakes is an interesting concept. We tried a few different cupcake flavors. Unfortunately, all of the cupcakes were pretty dry. Parking can be tough at times...street parking along East Tremont or the nearby side streets. read more

Don't miss out on this spot!!! Amazing selection of delicious treats. I was working in the area when a friend mentioned this place. I decided to give it a try. And I'm so glad I did. From a friendly welcome, to many great choices. I went with the 4 piece cupcakes 2 tres leche, and 2 dulce de leche. All I can say is wow I want another one. I stumbled upon this bakery while waiting for a tattoo shop to open. The Valentine's Day decor was very pretty. The shop is small but cute. They didn't have coffee so I was a little bummed but no biggie I got a cupcake anyway. I chose the Dominican Guava cupcake. I loved the frosting but I do wish it was spread out more. Eating the cupcake reminded me of twinkies and I loooved twinkies growing up! I wish the guava filling had a stronger guava flavor but overrall a good cupcake. Customer service was great. read more

Ordered the 6 inch tiered cake, I believe, for my birthday. I went to them because they offered a plant based customizable cake. Ordered a simple Vanilla cake with a happy birthday topper and it was a bit pricier than I had hoped for the size... What made them loose a star for me was with the tall cake they gave me, the packaging was not proper, so transportation with the cake was a pain. I got it the day before my celebration and had to hold it carefully to in its half open box the whole ride home, then find space for it in my fridge and then transport it to the celebration site. The cake did it's job despite all this, it was soft and yummy and very sweet - like most vegan cakes. read more

They made my vision come to life "First Trip Around the Sun" theme, even when I was unable to fully articulate such..Made my son's small family focused 1st a lovely one! Also had smaller "smash" cake for him as well. Mango/Dom Cake is the way to go! Their design, taste, service was A+..We will continue to use them for events. One star is too much! When a business becomes too busy, that they forget customer service is important thats when you should avoid it at all cost. Called to try and order a cake and was left on hold for almost 20mins. Once I finally get someone to discuss my interest in ordering a cake I was told go to the website to see photos and call back (heads up custom cakes requires TWO weeks timeframe). I drive over an hour to the location to pick up "Ready to buy" Drip cakes and I requested to speak to the manager to see if at least I can get a look at one before paying for it. She refused to speak to me. Took my business elsewhere to say the least. read more

Beautiful cakes but the taste is not worth the price, I've had delicious cakes that were less expensive from other bakeries and this bakery is very expensive and the cake was just ok. I expected to be blown away considering the price but I wasn't. Was hoping this would be the bakery I would always get my cakes from but after my first purchase I doubt I'll come back. I have ordered before from here and was so pleased with my experience and the quality of the cake. However, my recent experience was far from the same. I bought a 6 inch cake Dulce de Leche cake on same day for birthday celebration. The cake was decorated beautifully, however, the cake was dry, not moist at all and tasted stale. I was very embarrassed sharing the cake with people at the celebration. I couldn't believe that I was even sold a cake like that. I will not be returning. read more

I live out of state and I wanted to send my aunt a cake for what would have been her and my uncle's 58th anniversary. Instead, I'm sad to say, we were attending his memorial on that day. If I could honestly rate this place a negative 1 start I would. Don't waste your time placing order online. They would cancel your order. Lack of professionalism and poor communication skills with employees to customers. You would expect during a pandemic people would be more reasonable and pleasant. But unfortunately it's still unhappy miserable people. I placed an order online Friday September 18,2020. Received an email Saturday September 19,2020. Try to contact staff Saturday afternoon receptionist informed me kitchen staff isn't available. "The representative who put in special cake order isn't available."He asked for my contact information and name and told me someone would reach out to me. On Tuesday afternoon September 22,2020 I missed the call from an employee. I called back and when I spoke to a receptionist she informed me that the price was $270 for the cake I wanted then informed me they couldn't make the cake anymore and offer me a drip cake. Wait I'm confuse! Why I can't purchase the cake I want? I place the order for my cake 13 days prior to the day I would like my cake. I wanted my cake for Tuesday September 29,2020 for 6pm. It's extremely frustrating when you try to support small businesses with lack of professionalism and clear communication. Great service! I was able to call the day before and place an order for a birthday cake. The girl on the phone was very informative & pleasant. She took her time to describe what was available & provided additional ideas for cake flavor & decor. When I picked up the Cale the following day, it was ready on time & better than expected. It was beautifully decorated, very detailed. Everyone thought it was delicious too!!!!! Not only was it pretty to look at but also sooo yummy. It was fresh & moist and not overly sweet. We couldn't be happier. Also, many precautions during these Covid times. The girl instructed me to call before picking up to ensure that there weren't too many customers in the shop, signs to keep distance & masks worn at all times. Finally!!!! I think I found my go to place for cupcakes. Its conveniently located 8mins away from home, and it's a small humbled store, but the samples of cake displayed looks of hard work ,uniqueness and very detailed. All the cakes on display were my style "vintage" looking They also have over 15 cupcakes of all different flavors to choose from and all of them looks so yummy, I just wanted to order 1 of each. The employees were very nice and welcoming even allowed my dog to enter. This is my second time buying from them and I haven't been disappointed yet, the cup cakes are moist, nice and spongy and the frosting is delicious!(frosting comes a little frozen) ( I like mine a little melted) I absolutely adore this place, great place to order a birthday cake, wedding cake, or a cake for a baby shower ect..... I ordered a cake here for my baby shower in 2020. I have a birthday and another baby shower coming up soon and was looking for a cake shop. The cake looked beautiful but thats basically what you're paying for. The cake wasn't moist or delicious. So no, I wouldn't come here again. And the day we were doing taste testing we wanted to buy a few cup cakes to take home and we stood there waiting and waiting for someone to help us. Hopefully, service is better by now. read more

Beware. This place is very quick to take your money but has horrible customer service and business etiquette. I placed a custom order for my son's birthday a month in advance, paid in full, to only come the day of and nothing was even BAKED. A shitty job arrived to his party after it was done in an Uber with no apologies. The arrangement was wrong, icing melting, trimming hanging off, you name it. I couldn't even get an apology. I've been waiting for over a month to get a refund as they promised or hear from the owner but nothing. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I've been ordering cakes from Laury since 2014 as it was a personal goal of mine for my son's first birthday! Ever since, I have only ordered cakes from her. Her talent is unmatched in the decor of her cakes and the tasting is out of this world. I love Dominican cake but dislike how basic they are nowadays. The place is absolutely fabulous! The cakes are beautiful but the cupcakes not that crazy about. I would love to try one of their cakes to possibly have a better review but next time for sure. The cupcakes had a ridiculous amount of frosting on them and they tasted as though they were in the refrigerator for some time, the women at the front was extremely nice and helpful. My son and I really wanted cupcakes so I found this business through Uber eats .....the thought of a Dominican style cupcake was appealing. However I what I received was far from delicious. The cupcake if you can call it was disgusting. A small cupcake with splatter of icing that wasn't flavor or reminiscing of Dominican cake. I would rather get cupcakes at wallmart. read more

What a Shame! Lack of professionalism and customer service. Staff is incompetent! I ordered a cake with their "highly trained" staff (their words) and was quoted and agreed on a price for a 10 inch cake. The owner returns from vacation and calls a week before my cake delivery to tell me the size of my cake will be 8 inches, and if I want a 10 inch I have to pay extra. Instead of making this right and accommodating me, the owner was audacious and decided to cancel my order. Now I'm left without a cake less than a week before my mother's birthday. I will never, EVER PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN! read more

My mom requested a Dominican cake for her birthday and suggested this place. The only disappointment was I never got to place my order because the woman- a/k/an owner who answered the phone was so rude, she hung up on me because she was talking too much and didn't let me get a word in edgewise. Only to find out later my mom read horrible reviews about the same woman. The bright side was I found a better bakery with an owner who has greater customer service skills, bedside manners, and I was not double charged for a cake baked by a nasty rude woman that thinks who she is because she owns a bakery. We ordered a cake a couple of weeks ago for my nieces birthday and picked it up yesterday. We live in Jersey but had not found a Dominican cake bakery that makes gorgeous cakes locally. There are bakeries in our area that make beautiful cakes but we prefer Dominican cake and being this place offers both we were willing to go the distance and pay tolls and their high end price to get it. We said we would pick it up after 10am. Arrived before noon and was told they needed 10 minutes to finish it. That was surprising since the order was place almost 3 weeks in advance and fully paid. Anyhow, we waited, and waited for about 30 minutes. The cake look beautiful as ordered but I noticed that it smelled very lemony when we were in the car heading back home. After the festivity and cake cutting we realized when tasting it that the cake was not Dominican cake but regular white batter and that the passion fruit flavored filling we requested was not what they gave us, it was lemon and a layer had coconut. Thank god no one was allergic as it was not what we ordered. So based on the fact that we paid over $90 for a cake for 8 people and drive from Jersey to the Bronx and didn't even get what we ordered you can understand our disappointment. We could have gotten an American style pretty cake in Jersey for way less if we knew that is what we were going to receive :( I didn't deduct another star because the the cake was a least pretty in pictures. I was afraid the cake would be pretty and not deliver in flavor and although the cake didn't taste bad it was not what we ordered. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Laury S.

From a very young age, Laury was always interested in art. She began her career as a jewelry designer, attending FIT in NYC and Fred De Vos jewelry wax workshops, but her passion for culinary arts was always there. Laury began experimenting with edible art by making assorted types of pastries for her family and close friends and always dreamed of owning a pastry shop. In 2009 she attended The Institute of Culinary Education and graduated with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. At that time she decided to cross over from the world of jewelry design to the delectable world of edible arts. She now works in the Bronx where she specializes in sculpted delicious cakes, as well as wedding cakes, cupcakes, cakepops, and cookies, made from scratch with the best ingredients. Laury now combines both of her talents to create wonderful works of edible art.

I like macarons even if the price for these bite-size gems is $$$. I try to purchase some every time I see them so I can share. I tried and joked and said can I get 6 for 5 and to my surprise they gave it to me so I ended up with a box of 6 macarons. The fillings were all so creamy and every flavor was so distinct. The macarons practically melt in your mouth. Service was super friendly and nice and I enjoyed my experience here. I would recommend this place to anyone at any time.

WOW WOW WOWWWW !!! I want it to be known that SOPHIE, has made my experience not only wonderful and welcoming, but also the recommendation for the cake made my daughter and my guests at the birthday party in awe. The Tres Leche Cake recommendation was moist, delicious, and very pretty. I was about to go next door because i heard of the prices but to be honest i do not care about the price but what i care about is the interaction and the customer service. I walked in and saw Sophie cleaning up the store and it was so clean and visually pleasing, her gentle approach and patience opened my heart to trusting her in ordering my daughter birthday cake. I can go on with the amazing ethics that Sophie has shown, and she has painted a great image about the business. From her professionalism, to her ability to sell alone. I've had the pleasure of getting cakes here in 4 occasions and I have to say the taste never seems to amaze me. Any flavor regardless of what it is has such a fresh taste and the filling along with the batter literally melts in your mouth. I've NEVER had a cloying feeling after eating a cake or cupcake from here. The people that I've had over on the occasion I've had cakes from "ThereShouldAlwaysBeCake" always tell me "I've literally never had cake like this before, it's Sooo good!" I COMPLETELY recommend it specially if you want your amazing ideas to come to life in cake form in a clean and extremely detailed way. Their products are really good but the customer service is truly subpar. A business should never underestimate a clients potential. You never know if a small order is going to turn into thousands of dollars down the line from family/friends, referrals and even corporate orders. I had a birthday cake ordered from this bakery. The flavor was Tres Leches. Not only was it gorgeous but it tasted absolutely amazing both that night and even the next day!! Everything about the cake was perfect and fresh and there was not one issue or flaw with the fresh flowers.
