This restaurant really surprised us. After driving by it for a year, we finally decided to stop in. The place definitely has a bar atmosphere with no music and only the sounds of the TV. The interior could use a face lift, but it's fine if you're not expecting anything nice. So we didn't really expect much.... but we were in for a treat. First we each ordered the soup - they were both fresh, hot, and amazing! I would have been happy just eating a big bowl of soup. Then we shared the spinach crab dip. Another home run! I knew I'd be full after all that, so I had ordered the chicken tender app, but that will just be my lunch the next day. I did eat one, and it was pretty much what you'd expect. But my boyfriend ordered the prime rib and he was in heaven. It was the most tender piece of meat. We will definitely be back! read more

We had dinner at Tip O'Leary's tonight and we were very pleased. We had not visited for a long time and were happy to see all the physical improvement and it was very clean. Our food was good, the service was quick and friendly. I enjoyed the pulled pork (although the chef was a bit too creative with the toppings, sometimes you need to quit while you are ahead); my spouse had the Quesadilla plus we had potato skins as an appetizer..... everything was well prepared and tasty. We recently held a party there for my Mother-In-Law. My wife worked over the phone with the staff from Tips (we live in MD) and they were extremely helpful, accommodating and laid-back throughout the entire process. They made suggestions on how to keep the costs low for us and never did we feel like they weren't trying to do something in our best interest. We had 60 people in their patio space and one bartender, Kelly, who did an amazing job keeping everyone happy. The food was delicious and it just kept coming out! With a full front bar and only one runner, I was amazed that they could keep the food stocked the way they did. Everyone had plenty. While the food was very good and the pricing was more than fair, where Tip's really shines is the people that work there. They are about the nicest, most helpful folks you'll ever encounter. My wife and I really enjoyed our experience with Tip's from beginning to end and we'd love to have another event there some day. Thank you ladies for helping us surprise our Mother In Law! read more

Stopped here last night on a "date night" whim with my wife and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Tip's Spring Chicken which turned out to be a well marinated and flavorful grilled chicken breast topped with bacon, fresh spinach, mushrooms, Jack and cheddar cheese and served with honey mustard. My wife ordered the Homemade Crab Cake Sandwich which was lightly fried and served with tomato and lettuce on a toasted bun. Both sandwiches came with potato chips, so we added a side of sweet potato fries at our server Danny's suggestion. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and agreed that we will definitely be back. As for the ambiance / decor, the dining area is tired and could use a good scrubbing, but it doesn't seem to deter what appeared to be a healthy bunch of locals. I do like go to this establishment. I have been there for beef and beers also other gatherings. There food is decent too. They have great entertainment that sings there. A great spot to listen to Irish musicians that come through. They have a nice patio where you can sit at in-the warm weather or when it's cooler they have a fire pit. People from all ages go there. We have eaten our last meal at this establishment after coming here for over 20 years. We drive over an hour for their baked clams and tonight we were disappointed for the first time. We had a party of nine and half of us went home hungry because they couldn't eat the food & the other half went home sick because they did eat the food. When we discussed our issues with the manager she offered 10% off, which was insulting based on our experience. Check your bank statements after eating here. I was here today (St. Pattys Day) for lunch as was charged 3 times on my bank account for my $12.00 burger bill, and my friend with whom I was with was charged twice on hers. BE CAREFUL I am in the process of disputing this with my bank. read more

My 3 friends just ordered the prime rib and i ordered a Caesar salad. Their food looked so good but now I'm laughing because my salad is decent while my 3 friends struggle to hold down the terrible steak they ordered. Please stay away from the steaks here. Came here for some drinks. Place looks really nice on the outside. Step inside and it's like a time machine to the 90's. Very outdated. Atmosphere was dull and dingy. Older crowd. Live entertainment was very lackluster, especially for a Friday night. Ordered one drink for myself. Bartender was very nice but the drink was entirely too strong to even be enjoyable. We just threw an 85th birthday surprise party for my mother-in-law and we couldn't have asked for better service from start to finish! Everything went perfectly....absolutely not one complaint. Kathy, was exceptional. I think she gets just as excited to surprise the guest as we did. She is very accommodating and helpful (very honest about what you will need) Their new addition is gorgeous with beautiful pitched ceilings and cedar wood throughout (think mountain chalet) the huge wrap around bar, which had the best bartenders, gave our guests even more seats (22 bar stools) and then even additional seating on the outside patio. No one ever felt crowded (total guests was about 80) Do not hesitate to book Tips for your next party/shower/reunion. You will not be disappointed. It was terrific...Thank you! read more

Good staff. Never had table service in my many visits but several of the bar tenders are great. Come see John when he fills in on a random Sunday, he is really friendly and charismatic for a guy his age. You have to force feed him your tips. Definitely get the baked clams, they are the house specialty. Decent selection of draft beers and a substantial supply of bottled beer. Not a lot of esoteric stuff but they are sure to have what you like in one way or another. It is where I hang on the common chance that I am in town. read more

My review is a little different. I had to schedule a post funeral lunch, in three days! Tip O'Learys was very accommodating. They were able to switch things around and seat us all together. Another favorite place of ours, and it has been for several years. We love the food, the staff and the atmosphere. We cannot say enough about the special social events they have, from poker nights, music nights and the holiday brunches. We have even held parties on their deck, creating some of the best memories. Of the menu we love the perogies, Tip's Spring Chicken, the Shepherd's pie and the funnel cake fries for sure! My children love coming here and enjoy the food as well. The staff is attentive and the atmosphere is that of a neighborhood pub, always welcoming. It can get a little crowded for big events, but it is a great place for a night out. My husband and I like that the weekend bar crowd isn't loud and obnoxious, but rather easy going and more laid back. Overall it is a great restaurant, not to miss. read more

Met my Dad here for the Eagles game for lunch. The Eagles were horrible but we enjoyed our meal. We started off with the pierogies which were fantastic. They took a little longer than expected to come out but the bartender explained its because they are prepared fresh and I have to say they were worth the wait. My dad and I split two sandwiches, the Reuben and the Roasted Pork with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone added. The Reuben was great, fresh and hot. The Roasted Pork was more along the lines of a cheesesteak consistency which wasn't bad. My dad thought it was awesome. One thing I like to point out is the Yeungling on tap was the freshest Yeungling I've ever had. I know that sounds stupid but I've probably had thousands of Lagers over the years, even from the brewery, but how good that Lager tasted definitely made me notice. This usually means the tap lines are very clean. Also, icing on the cake the bathrooms were immaculate and the smell of smoke I mentioned in my last review was non-existent. It's official. I had the pleasure of working with Kathy and her son Michael to host a private party for my sister's 30th birthday party. From the beginning stages of planning to the full execution of the event, I couldn't have been happier that I chose to have this special evening at Tip O'Leary's. The food was absolutely delicious, the private room rental was the perfect atmosphere, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. BUT.......for the prices that are being charged for some of the menu items is ridiculous for PUB food. AND.....replacing fries with potato chips....why bother.
