Lovely staff who were over the top sweet to me and my toddler. I was confused about the dining options at the museum - and under NO normal circumstances would I bring my young child here. But when I walked in it was past lunch rush and not crowded, so I gave it a go. Of course, within 5 minutes, a table was seated next to us who clearly didn't appreciate the baby making baby noises. I apologized and pacified her and took her away from the table to keep everyone happy. Waiter was on his game and rushed our food out so we could get going asap. Once the orzo salad (a side from a main dish) was brought out for the baby and the Cobb for me, all was well. It was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Don't bring your baby (there's a casual cafe upstairs in the museum) but do visit The Wright. read more

Refined atmosphere, interesting space (it could double as a set for the Jetsons, or Woody Allen's Sleeper), excellent food and service. Really, all you can ask for a fancy meal out -- as long as your ready to handle the bill; the average entree is $30+, sides of vegetables are $8, and desserts are $12 and up. The amuse bouche was a delicious morsel of smoked salmon with wasabi roe. While the appetizer of sardine terrine was on the salty side, the tuna tartar was excellent. My entree of sirloin was nicely cooked and included both a sweet red wine reduction(?) with red cabbage and a delicious potato-robiola sauce. My friend's pork dish was the winner, though, and apparently others think so too because the server told us that it consistently sells out. read more

My thoughts about five star include dozens of measurable achievements in any restaurant. But, on this occasion, the food was so good, I feel anything less would be inappropriate. I had the tomato gazpacho and lobster salad. Both were as good as I think you could make them; they were seasoned and presented beautifully. Visited the Wright today for the first time. The Bad: 1. I find it strange that the restaurant, thats part of the Guggenheim, is not accessible from the Guggenheim. Would've been nice since there was a monsoon. 2. Upon entering with my parents we were led by the hostess to the bar. Not a table of course but the bar. ( the restaurant was half full) OK I can deal. 3. We waited ten minutes while the two bartenders did their thing making drinks and ignoring us. 4. Finally we get to order. My father orders a quartino of wine. Mind you, a quartino usually holds about 2 glasses of wine. This had enough wine for one (1) glass. 5. I ordered the filet of beef. Medium. I received about 3 ounces of beef with the top sliced off so you can see how it was cooked. It was basically blood red (rare). I found this amusing because its such a small piece of beef where you can clearly see if its cooked well enough. Maybe I dont know what Im talking about though because Im not a chef nor do I own a restaurant. The Good: They charged my phone. read more

DISAPPOINTING AND EXTREMELY OVERPRICED!!! I expected more from this museum. I got the fettuccine pasta which was good (considering I got one of the cheapest food items). My brother got the 50/50 burger, let me tell you, we would have been better off eating at Shake Shack for the price of the burger. Besides the price, I have never seen a more disappointing burger. No condiments, lettuce, tomato... the potato wedges were so small and they give so little few. The burger bun looks like it was purchased at the local grocery store. I could've made the burger myself. NOT WORTH $25 FOR A BURGER! Save yourself the money and go eat somewhere else with BETTER portions and sizes after your visit to the museum. read more

the food was wonderful. the flavors were so well balanced in all the dishes. the waiters were also very nice. they could've been a little more attentive. but the restaurant was full during lunch and they brought water and bread right away WHEN ASKED. the space was smaller than i'd imagined but cozy nonetheless. lunch for two (splurge with the mother) was over $100 (each had app, main, dessert) and i was just the right amount of fullness. so maybe overpriced for big eaters. read more

This is the perfect instance of needing half stars. The only reason I'm giving The Wright 3 stars is to not insult the chef. The service here is absolutely horrible. We were ignored by the service staff to the point that we had to ask the hostess to refill our water. I had to ask for my wine 2 separate times. The food was wonderful, but not enticing enough to convince me to return. There are too many other restaurants at a similar price point that deliver excellent service in conjunction with fantastic food. Skip this, and save yourself $100 read more

We've never tried the Wright for dinner, but have had lunch several times since it opened. Frank Lloyd would be proud of the room, it's breathtaking in a clean, modern way, perfectly fitting in with the museum design. We have enjoyed the food and wine enormously every time we've gone. We always have an appetizer and main course, and sometimes dessert. The duck is excellent. The great improvement in the past year or so has been in service, which had been diffident at the beginning and is now attentive and personable. read more

I don't know why we didn't go to the Wright sooner. Maybe it's just so close. It will be a frequent trip now. It's the the first 5 stars that I 've given in Yelp. The food is terrific! It is inovative without being fussy. It just tastes great. Suckling pig came in what looked like a brick and I thought, OK this is cute, until I tasted it, simply the best! Lobster in trumpet mushroom sauce, yikes, Yelp!Wines in glasses and Q's ( a little more) and pretty reasonable. We split a chocolate tart OMG. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. I had dinner at The Wright on a Saturday at 7pm.. I have to say that it was pretty darn good. A bit on the pricey side, but for the most part, typical of NYC prices. I was happy with everything that I ordered. The decor was very cool - check out the pics on its website. Also very cool to be going into the Guggehnheim for dinner! We were started with a nice amuse - piece of house cured salmon in a phyllo cup... A nice surprise to open... I ordered the Japanese Pink Snapper Tartare, that had it had more of the acidic sauce that only dotted the plate, it would have been close to perfect. It was light, fresh and delicious! My friends had the Tuna Sashimi, which also looked delicious! For my entree I had the Pan Seared Wild Striped Bass with razor clams and a coconut foam. Parts of the dish were great: The crispy, well seasoned, seared side of the fish, the saltiness of the razor clams. The down sides: the coconut foam was a bit to sweet, and completely hid the razor clams, which I wished were served in their shell, moslty for visual appeal. Other then the seared side of the fish, it lacked seasoning for me. It was perfectly cooked, but needed some more salt. We were then brought a palate cleanser or coconut soup with a pinneapple granita and greek yogurt sorbet.. It was delicious!! For dessert, I had the Chocolate Souffle.. and it was delicious! I dont think the sour cherries were really necessary, but I suppose they were a good way to cut some of the richness of the chocolate.. Overall my experience at The Wright was great! The only strange thing was that we were 3 of only about 10 people in the place the whole time we were there. The waitress said they had only been open for a year and a half and were still promoting, but that seems like an awfully long time to get the business started. This is not a restaurant that serves bad food when tied to a museum. The food was wonderful and the wait staff are very attentive but non-consuming. They truly engage based upon your personal style. The Wright, so little for so much. Give them $28 and receive nearly 3oz. of salmon and a few tomato slices. A hand of asparagus, extra, of course. The already diminutive morsels sit on the boundless plate forlorn, and guiltless. Chew once, twice, it's all gone. The stomach and the wallet made hollow, eviscerated really by the elitist and pretentious mob that runs this place. $150 to feed five hungry souls. That waste of money is shameful in light of the economic crisis. If we only knew better! May God keep the tourists safe from this fate. Lunch and Dinner at The Wright is for suckers! Spend your money at your local bistro, wherever that little old couple have been making food for 40 years. They want to feed you, and nourish your soul! read more

Disaster. Sadly, this should be a NY gem, but suffers from extremely poor service and inconsistent food. Breakfast on Sunday followed this storyline: Coffee came out without the requested cream, by the time the cream came out the coffee was cold. Breakfast took 45 minutes to be served ! Once out, requested sides did not come. By the time the sides came, breakfast was nearly eaten. (they said sides had to be re-cooked because they were "too crispy and burned" ) After 3 reminders toast and english muffin finally came, english muffin was raw. While the presentation of food was nice, the eggs benedict was cold and soft boiled - but after 45 minute wait, we don't have time to send back. Breakfast potatoes were inconsistent,: uncooked potatoes in the mix (ouch!). Did I mention that the waiter was the invisible man? This whole experience was painful! The tab was over $100. Supposed to be a birthday celebration and a walk through the museum, and ended up being a depressing start to the museum experience. read more

Entered this place while visiting the museum. Was invited in by the hostess. I sat down at the bar with 3 other friends. They had ordered drinks and I declined. The bartender then proceeded to lecture us about loitering at his bar and wanted us to leave since we were taking up space for other patrons that would order. It was 3PM and the restaurant was empty. I had only just discovered the Wright's existence, given that it's tucked away at the end of the Guggenheim Museum--and was thrilled to see it listed for NY Restaurant Week. So today I thought I'd give it a try. At 2 p.m., I hardly thought I'd need a reservation and yes, about half of the tables in the place were empty. However, when I admitted to the most horrible fact that I would be lunching ALONE--I was told all seats were reserved and I would have to eat at the counter. This was not a pleasant proposition, since the space is already rather cold and sitting on a stool staring at the shelves of liquor is not my idea of a good time. I might as well be eating at the Woolworth counter! More importantly, I resented the fact that I was being discriminated against as a single diner. Had they asked me right off, if I had a reservation, things would have been different. But clearly, the hostess had been instructed to save tables for couples. A poor decision, since I work in the neighborhood and was planning to come back many times, alone or with company. They should rename it The Wrong. read more

It's hard to beat the decor at The Wright. It's easily one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in. I went with a group of five people and everyone enjoyed their food. The wait staff was very good. I am deducting one star b/c the entree portions were pretty small and the value for the food you got was pretty expensive (luckily i booked through village vines). Everyone enjoyed the meal though, but the two guys in the group could definitely still eat more. This place is definitely worth a visit and is a great date place. read more

I was having lunch with a friend at The Wright at The Guggenheim Museum, and as I was eating my Wright Salad, I saw a LIVE worm squirming about on the plate!! This is so VERY WRONG! What was worse, the chef didn't even come out to apologize! It was a good thing the manager finally gave us a free meal. For such expensive food, I am shocked that the chef did not see a live insect when plating the dish! Not very professional at all. It was a very unpleasant experience and I advise to look at your food before you eat it, because you may be chewing on something alive! It makes you wonder what else he is putting in the food! read more
