Chief Edwardo is Talented!!!!! I was starving and did not want to cook so I went to Trufa on Wednesday, 8/24/22, and ordered the Chicken Parm with mixed veggies. Well I was impressed!!!! The Chicken was crispy and delicious with sauce on top and cheese. The veggies where cooked to perfection and sauteed with garlic and Oh-- do I love garlic. I totally recommend Trufa and Chief Edwardo; he is very kind and humble man and an excellent chief. Folks, it's all about the Chief.

It was lunch time on a weekend, and I was in the mood for salmon. After looking through my options on UberEats, I found Trufa restaurant and the salmon sandwich that it offered. I decided to give this a try, and waiter the 30 minutes for my food to be delivered. The sandwich came in ciabatta bread, and included avocado and veggies. There was a green salad and some dressing. The sandwich was decent in taste, as was the salad. It left me feeling satisfied. I'll consider this place the next time I'm looking for a good lunch option, and I'll look forward to trying out their other dishes.

I went to Trufa for a meeting with my mentor. I didn't know what to expect because of the mixed reviews. I wanted the crab cake but I don't think it was on the menu. So I chose the blackened salmon with spaghetti and marinara sauce. My God, it was hot, hearty and very delicious. The portion was also very generous. We had the avocado salad as an appetizer which equally as delicious. The ingredients were very fresh and green. Last, we had the tiramisu for dessert. I have had tiramisu before but I was blown away by the taste, light, creamy with a touch of cacao and coffee. Definitely coming back with a friend or family member. We sat down outdoors so I can't say other than inside is small. The staff was friendly when it was 11am. Before that, those who we met just said they are not open. It could have been said in a softer tone like thank you for waiting but we will have someone you when we open for customers at 11am.

Small spot in W. harlem by the 137th st train spot (the 1). Good food for great prices. Ate in once and ordered take out a couple times but they are definitely doing something right!

Did you say Brunch All Week??? Oh I'm Down for Sure! A cozy little restaurant which in any other circumstances would be take out only. However with the lay out they seem to make it work with 7 table tops for two. In one area those table can be combined to accommodate a larger group. Nonetheless they have a 7day Brunch menu that looks pretty decent as well as their regular menu is nothing to turn your nose up at either. No bar or drink menu available but red/white sangria or wine and mimosas can be ordered. The service was great you and can virtually see your food being prepared from almost every seat in the house. Food was nicely prepared and really tasty. Salmon and Eggs a spin on Steak and Egg was a nice touch for those who don't eat meat. My cousin and I order the same dish with a sub of salads for the home-fries. A bit a food envy on my part I must admit, because her House salad looked better than my Caesar but it was still good. Lol Overall a nice little low key spot that I look forward to returning to, there were a few items on the menu I had my eye on.

Came here to have dinner for our first night in the city and Trufa did not disappoint. The ambiance is so warm and cozy, beautiful music playing, staff is very attentive, and the food was incredible. The clam chowder was so buttery smooth and the pasta was incredible.

Something with O is red sauce and penne with pot. mushroom

So Came in for a late night and staff welcomed us. The red pasta name begins with an O and while it was tomato flavored, it wasn't too much plus a hint of cream. The white clear sauce pasta tasted like chicken broth flavored. All was incredibly delicious and I would say this is a hidden gem in this neighborhood. Highly recommend! We asked to be seated outside and the employees checked on us throughout dinner. Great service and food!

Fried calamari with the much improved sauce! It's spicy now, which is awesome :)

Have been here countless times and this is definitely a gem! Fried calamari here is crispy, juicy, and piping hot. Their seafood risotto is delicious (dine in), as is the chicken Marsala. The portion is huge too for the dinner entrees, as my full size chicken Marsala came with a side pasta. Everybody here is incredibly nice, they even brought out an extra table to accommodate an extra person in our party. Don't skip dessert; the creme brulee is amazing (portion is smaller post covid). They even have Martha's berry Napoleon!! Will be coming back

    Omellette

Not sure if this could be considered a restaurant I think a diner/dive is more appropriate. That isn't an insult btw. This is a small place with only 5-6 tables. Prob not the best for big groups but we only had 2 of us. As for the food, it was pretty solid. I liked the omellette with the side salad. It had a great dressing on the salad. The omellette was freshly made and had a fluffy texture to it. The toast however was pretty tough to eat since it was hard. They serve brunch until 3pm even on the weekdays which was a welcome surprise. I liked my lunch at Trufa's. It is a nice cozy restaurant and the service is solid too. This isn't a date spot but it does the trick for a working lunch.

Nice place with good food. The staff was friendly, nice, and helpful. The chicken pesto melt was delicious.

    Brandy W.

Food was very tasty, especially the fried calamari. The spring rolls weren't so great, definitely needed like a duck sauce tho of sauce for dipping. The next I would like to taste the California burger. Service was excellent. Wait staff was attentive, loved them.

Vodka penne with chicken was fantastic with a homemade taste to it.
    Mansta A.

Amazing food. Small little cafe with sandwiches, pasta and sagrias! Servers are very nice. Limited seating but I would definitely return :) We had the chicken parmigiana and the vodka penne. Both amazing. Would love to try more dishes :)

Beautiful and delicious beet salad, goat cheese, avocado, egg, tomatoes.

My best friend and I each ordered the prix fixe menu, and it was a journey from start to finish. I began with the Spicy Corn & Coconut Soup--honestly, unforgettable. The crispy shallots added just the right amount of texture against the velvety base, and each spoonful layered flavor in a way that felt both comforting and elevated. For my main, I had the kichuri, and Chef Alex Guzman absolutely shines here. He is a star--full stop. There's a clarity and confidence in his cooking that you can taste. The cilantro chutney was perfection, and the way the mint lingers alongside the spice... it's the kind of balance that only comes from someone who truly understands their craft. You can feel his care in every bite. I ended with the key lime pie, and all I can say is thank you. The whipped cream was fresh and airy, the lime zest bright without overpowering, and the crust tied everything together beautifully. It felt like a thoughtful, intentional close to an already incredible meal. I highly recommend starting with the guava mocktail, then pairing your main with the fig mocktail--both are perfectly crafted and complement the dishes so well. Also, sit at the bar. Let Dan guide you through the experience. Trust his recommendations--you will not be steered wrong. He elevates the entire evening. And the playlist? Y'all really did that.

We both had Brussel Sprouts, good, but the bites without the sauce did taste like bland Brussel sprouts. I had the lamb ribs, very good. They do warn you before that the ribs have a bit of fat on them, I think in the context of NY restaurant week I'm happy to pay it but as a solo entree, the amount of fat vs meat would have annoyed me. My friend had the duck, she enjoyed it. But it is very much salad with a side of duck, I believe she had 6 pieces of duck (pictured) and then a mango, arugula and onion salad. Dessert was very good, but I do hope those are not the usual portion sizes and maybe they just served smaller for NY restaurant week. Which I really didn't mind as I was full from the entree and sprouts. Servers were really nice, this place seems to have its regulars and a nice garden sitting area towards the back. Would overall recommend

We started with drinks. She ordered the passion fruit margarita and I went with the tamarind mango margarita. We were told the margaritas are made with a wine based cocktail instead of tequila or mezcal since the restaurant only serves beer and wine. We've never had margaritas made with wine before, which should have been our first clue to skip the cocktails. Unfortunately we were feeling adventurous and neither of us ended up enjoying our drinks. Mine lacked any hint of tamarind, had a subtle mango flavor, and tasted more like a mocktail. My friend said hers tasted like a tart beverage. We ordered the codfish fritters to start and they were a delicious appetizer. We shared the jerk chicken and pancakes and the plantain crusted crab cakes for our entrees. The pancakes were light and fluffy. Unfortunately the jerk chicken was a huge letdown. We were expecting authentic Jamaican flavors. As someone who grew up eating jerk chicken and has enjoyed the real thing in Jamaica numerous times, this wasn't it! I was also surprised to be served a chicken cutlet instead of an actual breast, thigh, or wing portion of chicken. We did not enjoy the chicken. The crab cakes were well done and topped with a stale tasting chip. The fried plantains that accompanied the dish were mushy. We did not enjoy this dish either. My friend ordered the housemade chocolate chip bread pudding, which she said had everything under the sun on it. She enjoyed it, but said it didn't taste like any bread pudding she had ever tasted. Overall, the restaurant's concept is cool, but not well executed. The service was good minus the delayed water glass refills. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were a huge disappointment!

The space itself is genuinely beautiful -- dim lighting, warm decor, and a moody, inviting atmosphere that makes it feel like a proper grown-up neighborhood spot. The service matched the room. Our server was attentive, gracious, and knowledgeable, and the front of house clearly knows what they're doing. The food, unfortunately, didn't live up to the rest of the experience. The pork chop arrived dry, which is hard to forgive on a cut that should be the kitchen's pride. The steak was competently cooked but unremarkable -- no real seasoning, no char to speak of, nothing that set it apart from a passable home-cooked version. For a restaurant at this price point, the kitchen should be delivering more. I'd happily come back for cocktails at the bar -- the n and the staff deserve that. But on the food alone, there are better options in the neighborhood.

The chocolate fondue was great and the poached pear was okay, we ended up sending it back because it wasn't what we expected, no biggie tho shit happens. Upon looking around that's when we noticed one of the chefs making a disgusting mistake. He was wearing the same gloves he used to wash dirty dishes to prepare foods we and the entire restaurant ate. My friend and I were looking for a place for dessert and drinks, so we stumbled into the Cordial. I ordered the prosecco, and we tried the chocolate fondue and a pear dessert. The bartender took our order; he told us that the chocolate fondue came with seasonal fruits, which he told us came with bananas, strawberries, and apples. When he gave us the desserts, the fruits on the plate were nothing, he told us. It had mango, apple, and figs (my friend is allergic to mango), so she was only able to eat only the 5 little apple pieces that were on the plate, and the figs were very mushy. The pear dessert was not so great. So I asked the bartender if he could exchange the pear dessert for more fruits for the chocolate fondue. Again, it was random different fruits; the second round of fruits was figs, oranges, and grapefruit. Cordial is small, so you can see the chefs cooking in the kitchen. With that being said, you can see one of the chefs washing dishes with gloves on and then proceeding to eat a mango with the same glove and then preparing the meals he cleaned dishes and ate with. It was so unsanitary. I just got disgusted and disappointed quickly after watching him. The sad part is that I and my friend were super happy to find a chill place to go and hang out near where we reside, but unfortunately I'm not sure I'll go back.

Read on if you desire genuine knowledge and only dine out with intention. First, and most importantly, shouts to Myles and the team working this day. The salmon in my Jerk Salmon Bowl and my friend's Atlantic Salmon Bowl was flaky, tender, juicy, and perfect. The rices (white with Jerk, black forbidden with Atlantic) confirmed and celebrated what Chef JJ Johnson wrote in his must-have book The History of Rice. This is to say there is no rice like FIELDTRIP rice: soft, sturdy, sweet, savory, herby, attaches to sauce and protein and vegetables when you want it to, remains on its own when you simply want to enjoy it by itself. The plantains and greens that accompany are ridonkulous icing on the salmon sundae. If you aren't a fan of Brussels sprouts, you likely have good reasons. And, you owe it to yourself to order Crispy Brussels. Besides being cooked so they are toothsome, textured, and still sweet, they're quartered or sixthed, which makes them easier to enjoy and perfect carriers for the crispy bits that top them. I love oxtail. To enjoy this rarely served beef element in a perfectly wrapped and fried egg roll added to my adoration. After bite one, I literally unwrapped my half to see how the shredded meat was coexisting. No saucing was necessary, though the Avocado Cilantro and New Jack Sticky BBQ (both of which were enjoyed by me via spoon) would have enhanced the roll most righteously. Lastly, when you dine in or take away from FIELDTRIP, you need Nana's Bread. It is what you might enjoy if a freshly made flour tortilla, naan, pita, and focaccia met, joined, and were put through a presser. I would dip and dredge Nana's Bread in everything. You can see that this restaurant is a staple to the community. My shrimp bowl I thought was delicious although it could have used a bit more rice to soak up the curry that was in the bowl. Our crab pockets were really good too. This restaurant is definitely a hit and I will recommend this particular one. I will be back! Shoutout to my server who helped me that day I don't know how to pronounce her full name but it had Anna in it. She gave what every restaurant should give. Five star service with a pleasant attitude. Two Thumbs Up! Happy Yelping!

It was a good introduction to the restaurant and a nice opportunity to try a few things from the menu at a great price. The food was very delicious, the portions were very generous, and the atmosphere definitely has a fun, lively and colorful Harlem feel. Unfortunately, service was okay, but there's room for improvement. It wasn't necessarily bad, just not as attentive or polished as I expected given the restaurant's reputation. Overall, I'm glad I finally checked it out, and I'd be open to coming back to try more of the regular menu.
