Wanted to love Lido, but the food felt like a miss for me. The ambiance was indisputably wonderful (lots of folks communing and seemingly having a good time), but I was underwhelmed by the food. The creamy garlic parmesan bread appetizer was tasty, but that was the beginning and end to any excitement for my tastebuds. My main dish, the fresh squid ink linguini, lacked flavor. My friend said the same about her dish, a soup on the daily specials (which she had previously really enjoyed). The savory bread pudding was also lackluster. I really like bread pudding and was sad I didn't want to scarf it down immediately. It pained me that we barely touched it. My friend is a fan of Lido's and has had lots of positive experiences with their menu offerings. She thought something may have gone amiss the night we went. The grilled salmon with arugula salad was delicious and perfectly cooked, definitely a highlight. Drinks were solid, and the coffee was excellent. Service was amazing...very attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. The French toast was tasty, but a little hard to cut through (probably because it was brioche, felt like I was working through the end pieces). For dessert, everything was okay overall, with the tiramisu standing out as the best option of the three we tried. You could come to Lido for a birthday brunch or a low key outing with friends. It fits both the vibes. On weekends there is an hour where they close the kitchen to prepare for dinner. I was looking for places to eat while I was attending a conference nearby and came across Lido. I made a reservation for happy hour, but it wasn't very busy at all when we arrived, so you might not need to bother with a reservation. The servers were attentive without hovering, which was nice since they weren't too busy. I went with a colleague and we tried the calamari, meatballs, and creamy garlic bread from the happy hour menu along with sangria. It was all tasty, but the creamy garlic bread was a surprising hit. We dipped it in the sauce with the meatballs, since there was no bread served with that. My only complaint is there wasn't more of the garlic bread. For our entrees, we ordered the steamed mussels along with the chicken Marsala. We split both entrees and we enjoyed them both, but I think the chicken Marsala was the star. The risotto was so creamy and the sauce was packed with flavor. The interior of the restaurant was nicely decorated and is a perfect place for a date night or a business meal. Great brunch spot! Came here with a couple people for brunch and was not disappointed. They have bottomless mimosas for brunch and it's a great deal! Came here for an early lunch on Juneteenth. Lido was packed! Indoor and outdoor minimal tables were available. We had reservations so as soon as we walked in we were seated We sat at a high table which quickly became uncomfortable. Also it was a hot summer day and the temperature inside could've been cooler. After scanning the menu I decided to go with fried calamari as my appetizer and grilled chicken caeser salad as my entree. The calamari lacked flavor BUT the dipping sauce was bomb. Totally made the dish better. The salad was ok but I wasn't a fan of the dressing. My waiter checked in once.... Anytime we needed something we had to flag him down. He's always happier to have some variety of texture, such as calamari and shrimp in the pasta; and the shrimp tails were already removed, which is a noticeable bonus. I got the spaghetti which was flavorful but far too small. We liked the bright and open-air feeling of the room's atmosphere, although I'm sure this was helped by the slower weekday lunch timeframe of our visit. Lido is a guaranteed, tried & true good time. One of the brunch establishments where you can actually converse with your neighbor but a guaranteed quality meal with great service & atmosphere. Four of us, spanning 3 generation came for late lunch and it did not fail to impress. Mind you we passed the aroma of fried fish and crisp chicken on the walk there so we were hungry . French toast was nice and sweet while the omelette was a nice savory and bright bite. The salad was a light and refreshing addition to the omelette and the bread accompaniment was a surprising mouthful of flavor, grilled with seasoned oil. On a Sunday was looking for a bottomless brunch and found this place on Open Table. While we weren't able to make a reservation, we decided to walk over anyways. Just a short hop across five avenues...and four streets..made it to the destination ready for some drinks. We grabbed seats at the bar and had Conner as our bartender. Right away started with bottomless mimosas and it really was bottomless. Every time my partner's glass was empty mine was filled up again...so was never empty! Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the French toast with a side of bacon. The spaghetti was just ok, really bland. The French toast was delicious, didn't need syrup on every bite..but I've got a sweet tooth so the more the merrier. Bacon could have been more cooked for my taste. While sitting at the bar, I saw two bottles of Harlem Standard and inquired to where they were made. Thinking there could be a distillery in Harlem, Conner read the label and they are made in non-other than...Indiana?!?! Next time will plan a bit more in advance to grab a table, overall great experience. read more
