This is a local gem that is well worth the trek uptown. My Florentine friend, who just moved to NYC, recommended it and I was very impressed. He even spoke with the servers to study the wine selection before he chose one for us. The pizzas were considerably big for personal pie and I was happy. I got the diavola and my friend got the vongole. They also do gluten-free pizzas! *Make sure you leave space for dessert. We had the creme brulee and it was perfection! Plating tricks are the ugly truth about kitchens. The more they're practiced the more your food will be a facsimile of cooked cuisine and simply pre-prepped food instead. The contorni here are just that. It says roasted but the beets aren't, they're boiled and precooked and chopped at that from a plastic bag. No effort was made to make them taste any different than that either. The broccoli was similarly boiled and well, that's what they do in England but this is a restaurant calling itself Italian. The garlic was burnt and the boiled broccoli was smeared in vegetable oil -olive oil or butter would have been the possibilities for the pan but this broccoli was never in a pan. The lasagna which is normally a winner leaked a lot of water into a puddle on the plate and that happens when it's frozen but not fully thawed and reheat din a hot enough oven. The Riesling was a bit sour but the some of the others are undrinkable. A quar which in Europe would be 2 and a half glasses in a little pitcher is 1 and a third glasses in a curious tiny vase, so order two individual glasses because there are no savings on offer. Which is odd as wine is an inflation anomaly - a decent bottle runs 12 to 20 dollars at a wine store and did 20 years ago too. For the prices these cheap wines are very bad value though some of the reds are less disastrous. The pizza is great and I have no complaints about it but the word is out and the delivery guys are humming at the door through diner bumping into the back of your chair in a small huddle if as we were you are seated there. It's a descent going down at this nice little place. It is a bar that serves decent snacks, but can microwaving and shrinkfaltion be far off? One suspects not, unless they hire some sous chefs who took a 12 week course at a culinary school - but they won't. There's no chef here. read more

This spot may be small, but it definitely holds its own evident from how busy it usually gets in the evenings. Luckily, we came by on an especially hot summer day and had no trouble grabbing a table. Our waitress was super friendly and walked us through the menu and specials. We went with the tuna tartare, the goat cheese and mango salad, and the Rigatoni e Gamberi. The salad was delicious the goat cheese was coated in crispy breadcrumbs, adding great texture. The tuna tartare was incredibly fresh, though I personally would've liked a bit more flavor. As for the pasta, the tomato sauce was tasty, but the shrimp seemed slightly overcooked and not grilled. Such A cute little spot right on 145th. Food was great especially the pizza. The mussels were ok. But the pizza was perfect and their wine selection is good they have so many to choose from esp silly considering the size of this little spot. Nice low lighting and open late. Really nice and cute place! The restaurant is really small and most tables are for groups of 2 - so if you have a larger party you will be placed on a shared table with barstools. The host was really friendly and we had a nice experience. For apps, we got the goat cheese with herbs and this was my absolute favorite. it comes with some bread and has the cheese immersed in tomato sauce. Really yum! For mains, we got the fettuccine with mushrooms and I wasn't a huge fan of this - I found it a little bland. We also got one of their specials - which was pasta in pesto sauce with burrata and sun dried tomatoes and this was really good. Warning. *****Update: The restaurant promised a refund over the phone (1/6) and has since avoided contact, repeatedly stating the manager is unavailable and refusing to give me a name of whomever I'm speaking to. Perhaps that was a mistake, but we didn't think a holiday evening would mean decrease in food quality. Terrible idea. The driver just left our food on the floor, we didn't even know if was delivered until I got a notification on my phone. Ordered 2 pasta's and 2 pizza's. All received cold. One of the pasta's had literal water and what looked like dirt in it. The bolognese seemed okay but the sauce had a slight rancid/sour taste to it. The toppings on the pizza's were just thrown on vs cooked with it. I'm not sure which dish the culprit was, but all four off us couldn't stop shitting ourselves starting the following morning. It's been 5 days now and I've just now started to feel a little better. Called to speak to the manager that very next day - a guy said he'd have him call me back. (nothing!) BE CAREFUL with their daily specials. They always have a buy 1 get 1 free special on Uber eats, which I usually order a couple of times a month. Today I was near the area so I picked up my order in person instead of having it delivered. When the girl at the bar hands me my order, I quickly realize there's an item missing. They only gave me 1 pasta. When I try to find her to let her know, she's literally seating and eating at the bar as the restaurant is open and there are clients in the restaurant. I let her know that there is a pasta missing; I explained to her that I ordered the 2 for 1 and I showed her. She said there was probably a mistake on the order because it said there was only one ordered. I explain to her, yet again, that I ordered the 2 for 1 and that I can understand that mistakes happen and I said: "I don't mind waiting" and processed to ask if they can make the other one. She literally SAID NO! She said it's not her, it's the guys in the kitchen and that she knows they're not going to make it. I was taken aback by her answer and lack of care, but then asked her if she can please at least ask the staff to make the other one. She literally said "I'll ask but they're going to say no". She proceeded to go to the kitchen to tell them what happened in Spanish not realizing that I can understand and comes back in less than a second to say NO! Again I paid for the 2 for 1! I understand mistakes can happen, I don't mind waiting, I ask for the missing item paid for and they refuse to make it! I am at a loss for words, clueless on what to do and don't even know how to feel about this place that I was so looking forward to visit and enjoy in person one day. I've never experienced such TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, specially at a restaurant! Be Better! If you can't live up to the set expectations, don't set them!
