Located at The Federal building with "Broom" Parking in the back and easy access to the LA Metro, literally a skip or six from North Hollywood Station. Bewitching folks inward from the corner of Lankershim Blvd/Weddington Street with an open door Tuesday through Sunday from 7AM to 10PM Clever baked goods, and hot or iced beverages to perk up any day. Well thought out menus for lunch and later, directly from the cauldron. Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free options are very visible, like the Pasta Salad... of Many Comforts, Dwarven Cindered Grilled Chz (dairy free option available), Halfing Potato Wedges, and other Shareables, Soup, Salads and/or Entrees. Magical in all the senses with great weekly events such as Sound Baths and Scones on Fridays from 10am to 11am, upstairs at the Elven Forest Space. Cool Crafting Days, The Tempered Flask Tavern is still in works, but I expect this to also be quite the incredible addition to this iconic space and instant NoHo favorite. Went to The Witch's Cottage last night. I've been wanting to try it since it opened. There were two of us and when we weren't even done with our second drinks we were told twice that we'd need to vacate the table soon, the second time was literally to escort us away. We walked away from the table around 7:25/7:30. Our reservation was for 6:00. We got there a bit early and were prepared to wait but got seated (10-15 minutes early) earlier which was nice. We had to flag down someone to get napkins and silverware after our cheese plate arrived (the first of three appetizers we ordered). $24 for a plate with two slices each of two kinds of cheese plus a small dollop of goat cheese. See photo. When we were escorted away from our table it's not like we would have taken that much longer to finish our drinks. We weren't dawdling. I've never experienced anything quite like this. Spent $165 for this cheese plate (see photo), fries, brussel sprouts, one dessert and two drinks each. My friend and I were so looking forward to trying it. The aesthetic is totally up my alley. Unfortunately, due to significant life stressors, I recently experienced a manic episode after many years of remaining episode free through treatment, medication, and lifestyle management. I had hoped Witch Cottage would respond with a bit more understanding and grace during what was an extremely difficult and vulnerable time for me, especially since I was genuinely excited about the space and had already enjoyed several visits there. While I understand businesses have the right to set boundaries, I was disappointed by the lack of empathy shown toward mental illness and disabilities, even after I explained the situation and acknowledged that this was a rare occurrence. Those living with mental illness can work incredibly hard to maintain stability, but unfortunately recovery is never perfectly guaranteed, even with consistent care and effort. read more

Showed up first thing in the morning and they really weren't prepared to have customers. There was nowhere to sit because they were still cleaning and mopping the floor. Their menu has fun names on it, but the coffee taste like nothing. I have a strange and unusual latte and let me tell you there is nothing strange and unusual about the taste of milk.Not a bit of cardamom in sight. See ya when you are 21:) The front lounge is a coffee bar with a pretty nice size room to sit, chat, cast spells or do a little work. The drinks here are simple but tasty and the bakery has gluten free and vegan options. During the day you are allowed to venture back to the restaurant area to enjoy your coffee as well. Once the bewitching hour begins the restaurant is open for dinner and the coffee bar is only in the front lounge. Get ready for one of their "specialty witches cocktails." The bartenders here are super friendly and shake a good drink! Both food/drink menus are cleverly named. Try one for fun! Only open for a few months and I am blown away by the details...There isn't one square inch that hasn't been carefully thought out and decorated to match the spirit of the theme here. This "white witch" could go on and on but I suggest you check it out yourself. Walk-ins are welcome but you may have to wait a bit. The walls were painted black and purple with swirls of sparking paint resembling a star galaxy. My friend, Te-See made reservations for her birthday in the bar upstairs. It was very spacious, with plenty of tables. There were ten in our group. Some sat at a high-top table with bar stools and the others at a coffee table with a couch and chairs. Tempting hand-crafted cocktails were awaiting our arrival. Choose from martinis, to Full-Moon Sangria, Hex Breaker (rum), Serpent's Kiss (tequila), or the Final Spell (smokey drink)... to name a few. I went with the Shadow Work Sour (bourbon, lemon, rosemary syrup, egg white foam and activated charcoal), definitely worth a try. My friend had the Green Witch (vodka, cucumber, lime, elderflower and rosemay syrup). We also indulged in Deviled Dragon's Eggs $12, which were "heavenly" with a little mustard, dill and mayo. We shared the Persephone's Cheese Plate ($22) with three cheeses, sourdough toast, grapes and jam. Followed by Halfing Tater Wedges (seasoned with garlic aioli, vegan parmesan and parsley). If you want to stir the cauldron head on back to the dinning area with hanging flowers and a bar that gives off an eclipse of the night sky. We picked this restaurant as it was very close to the theatre where we were seeing a show. We had no issues making a reservation or getting seated. The ambiance is super cute and the service was excellent. Unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing. The deviled eggs tasted gummy, the carrots with hummus tasted like the rainbow ones you buy at trader joes, and the cheese plate had stale cheese. The presentation was very luckluster and nothing looked appetizing. We also had drinks and I thought that my Green Witch tasted very basic and quite artificial. There was an additional charge to tip the kitchen staff and the actual tip percentage started at 25% which is crazy. Parking is difficult and metered. We were lucky to find a spot and didnt pay as it was after 6pm. I think that a better option is to try their baked goods/coffee and hang out in the front of the house. read more

Came here for a lil pick me up with a couple of yelp friends! I got the cold brew coffee- it was smooth and delish! One friend got the strawberry chocolate brownie and a tea - she enjoyed it. And my other friend got another pastry and latte - also enjoyed it. The space is super large and very cute! Love the themes and the staff was super friendly. The bathroom was clean, as was the whole location. There is street parking, metered street parking, and they have a lot. We showed up on a Friday night to discover that neither of us made a reservation. Thankfully, the darling hostess was able to fit us in and seated us at the best table in the house. I had a view of the entire room and was in awe of the beautiful interior. It was fabulous! I felt right at home. Our server Lexia was fantastic! She was so sweet and attentive. We all loved her! We ordered the Persephone's Cheese Plate & the special Deviled Dragon's Eggs. The cheeses were lovely especially when paired with the tomato jam & cherry jam. The special Deviled Dragon's Eggs were topped with vegan caviar & gold leaf. It was my first time trying vegan caviar, and I could get used to it. For Entrees we ordered: Bayou Witch Stew, Dwarven Cindered Grilled Chz, & The Green Man Salad. My salad was exceptionally good. I had some of the Grilled Cheese and it was tasty. Bestie #2 enjoyed the stew. For dessert we shared the Banana Cake, which was vegan and absolutely delicious! The cocktails were also expertly crafted. My friend had The Protection Spell - a Mezcal based margarita with smoked black foam. My friend and I shared a slice of the broccoli and cheese quiche, which unfortunately fell short; it was a bit dry and felt overpriced for such a small portion. A few years ago, a friend and I had a great time at the Cauldron witch-themed bar near Knott's Berry Farm. I was really excited to find a similar themed bar closer to home in NoHo. There is a parking lot behind the place and some street parking, although the Arts District area can be crowded. The old building is very charming from the outside with bright purple doors. I had not read much about the place beforehand, but really enjoy themed locations so was mainly interested in the decor. Upon entry I was interested to find there is a cafe up front, a restaurant and a bar upstairs. Each is decorated in theme, but slightly different vibes. They really created an enchanting vibe there with many people dressed in theme (including me). I was interested in the restaurant but my friend had already ordered some food at the cafe so I decided to start with dessert and try the banana cake. It's a personal taste thing, but I don't like super cloying and sweet cakes. This cake slice was gorgeous but for me it had way too much frosting that was way too sweet. I could not taste much banana in it. My fault for starting with dessert when I was hungry. We tried to check with the restaurant to see if they had any openings. There was nobody at the front podium for quite some time so we asked the cafe staff if we can go back to ask. After asking, we headed back. There was another staff member there who said he thought it was full but they also had a bar with small bites. I stood at the threshold of the room (not a step inside) and took a few quick photos, making sure not to disturb diners. Next thing I know the hostess showed up and with a bit of attitude told me I was not allowed back there and could not walk around on my own. She repeated this twice. This is the first time I saw her during the visit and no other staff indicated this. I found the experience off putting. I would have given another star if this experience did not occur. There are ways to politely tell a paying customer they have to be accompanied by staff in the other rooms - but diplomacy was not her strength. And there was no signage indicating the process up front. After we were done with the cafe, I asked one of the more polite staff members if we can go to the bar. She brought us back to the hostess who walked us up there. I still would have been grumpy but the bar staff had great suggestions and were delightful. The bartender recommended an apple brandy drink that I would not have ordered, but enjoyed. My friend ordered a mocktail and there were a good amount of choices. The bar is so spacious with many comfy chairs and couches to lounge in. They were playing Hocus Pocus (probably on loop) which was funny. I did not end up eating there that night. I would be willing to try the restaurant and bar again, and hope by then the service issues are ironed out. read more

Yes, the ambiance is spooky. Yes, the service is great (thank you Teague!!), but I'd like to primarily focus this review on their hot chocolate. I think this was about the best hot chocolate I've ever had. As a young child I watched as Augustus Gloop scooped the chocolate river water into his mouth, even though it looked like nasty mop water... and sadly for me, that's been my vast experience with hot chocolate. It just has never tasted quite like what I imagine Willy Wonka's chocolate river should really taste like. But then I ordered hot chocolate with oat milk from The Witch's Cottage, and whatever magic spell they used, worked. This was the perfect beverage. A chocolate bar in beverage form. Walking in, the décor is so whimsical and woodsy. I love the different vibe in each area -- from the café space, to the dinner area, and upstairs to the Elven Bar, which has open seating and a cozy tavern feel. The furniture is beautiful. I even sat in an egg chair with mushrooms on it that I absolutely loved. They also have a little stage with a large projector (they were playing Practical Magic), which added to the whole magical vibe. The drinks had such fun and creative names. Moonlit Elixir - Light with a delicious lavender taste. Very easy to drink. 10/10 - my #1. The Familiar - Made with black vodka, more of a martini-style drink and pretty strong. 8/10. Murder on the Orient - A strong but easy-to-drink gin cocktail. 9/10. Witch's Brew - One of the best espresso martinis I've had. It had a toasted marshmallow and was amazing. 9/10 - #3. Hex Breaker - Slight bubble gum flavor, sweet but not overly sweet. 9/10 - #2. Deviled Dragon's Eggs - Pickled eggs with a creamy cold mixture. 7/10. Good deviled eggs, but nothing super spectacular. They even have mead, which I got to try -- and it was AMAZING. The bartenders were awesome, and the light bites came out really fast. Our table did get a little crowded with empty glasses before someone cleared them, but overall the service was great. We found out it was only day 2 of them opening the Elven Bar, so it felt like a special experience being there so early. I'd love to see them add more movies to the projector, but the managers and bartenders were fantastic. I definitely want to check out the speakeasy one day too. Full disclosure: I really, really want The Witch's Cottage to succeed. It's an adorable space full of whimsy. The decor is top notch and I'm interested to see how the space transforms once they open the second floor. There are, however, a couple kinks that need to be ironed out before this place can become truly great. The Witch's Cottage is located in the old Federal building and they use the space well. The front is the cafe area, with dining and the bar in the back. At the moment reservations are a must; we saw a walk in get turned away at the door. The space is so cute; they really went all out on making it feel magical. Where the experience falls a little flat, though, and the reason for my three stars is the menu. Unfortunately the menu is a disappointment. I appreciate that they're trying to strike a balance between vegetarian and non, but the dishes being offered are all so boring and lacking in variety. It seems like almost everything on this menu, with a few exceptions, is either straight vegetables or some version of carbs/cheese. In fact, they serve three different versions of a grilled cheese. Mix it up a little! The food, while fine taste-wise, is plain and boring, not what I except from a place leaning into a magical, witchy theme. There's so much opportunity here, it's really a bummer that they aren't getting more creative with the dining options. The menu is also extremely overpriced for what it is. I understand that things are expensive these days, but $21 for a grilled cheese without protein or $19 for red sauce (again, with no protein) on top of noodles is crazy. And they add a 3% kitchen fee on top of it, which seems pretty extraneous given how high the prices already are. Service was just okay. As another reviewer said, our waitress was really sweet and charming, but also stretched too thin and often MIA when we needed her. The runners were great, though, very attentive to filling our water glasses and clearing plates. We all tried a couple drinks from the bar and I felt that The Final Spell was by far the best of the bunch. I have yet to check out the coffee shop, and I'd definitely be interested in returning to the space to give that a try. But I don't think I'll be back for dinner until they work some magic on that menu. read more

One of the few businesses who's mission statement actually made sense. One of the few businesses that is actually OPERATIONALIZING their VALUES. Meaning they are walking the walk, putting their money where their mouth is...except in this case it's in YOUR mouth and it's damned good. Even more astonishing is the simple, clean, whole foods the owner/chef (same person) serves her guests. I can't say that I've ever had a grilled cheese, with brie no less, that wasn't a gut bomb and didn't immediately make me fall asleep or yack. And not all stupid over priced either. The employees are actually happy and engaging, providing superb service. It's new, it's in a great space (RIP the federal), and you won't regret it. read more

What a delight it was to stumble into this place. We had been staying down the street and needed a good breakfast. Unfortunately, we stopped by another local eatery and were sorely disapointed. That's when we walked just a little further down the street, and found "The Witch's Cottage" and walking in was like walking home. The decor and ambiance were warm and inviting. Allowing us to always have something new to look at (one of my favorite styles of design). There were stories everywhere, from items on the walls to the hand painted books that both gave me a laugh and an awwh. We went back the second day before we left town and even the barista remembered us and said hi - so you know the service was A+. From our cashier/server, the baristas, the bartender, and even the busier, EVERYONE greeted us warmly like we were old friends. My only complaint? That I had to go home. NoHo needed a new nighttime spot and this is exactly it. The whole place feels like you stepped into a speakeasy tucked inside Middle-earth; think LOTR/Hobbit energy with a whimsical fairytale twist. It's two floors: downstairs is half cozy coffee shop, half restaurant, and upstairs transforms into a bar/lounge with a small stage setup that makes it feel intimate and a little magical. They describe themselves as "bringing magic to the mundane," and honestly, that sums it up perfectly. They fully leans into a pagan/witchy, ethereal forest vibe. It's maximalist in the best way: layered decor, moody lighting, little details everywhere. You really do feel like you've escaped the chaos of everyday life and wandered into a cottage in the woods. It's more than just aesthetic though. They focus heavily on herbalism and intentionality in their offerings. Tea and baked goods are clearly a specialty, and everything feels thoughtfully crafted. The menu is intricate, with clever, thematic names for both food and drinks and everything we tried was not only beautifully presented but genuinely delicious. I also love that the space doubles as a community hub. They host classes and workshops designed to help people connect with their creativity, nature, and "inner magic." They even dedicate certain days each month to offer free space for community groups that might not otherwise be able to afford a venue. It truly feels like a "third place;" somewhere you can gather, unwind, and feel welcome. Went twice during Grand Opening weekend! Opening day, stopped to check it out and pretty much everything was out at the cafe and dinner reservations were fully booked. So, I made a reservation for the next day and secured with cc. Requested a nice themed table. Sunday... was seated at a perfect spot next to the fireplace/hearth and got to people watch and enjoy the ambiance, dinner service, and fun celticky music (before the crowds came in to fill the tables and it got loud enough to block out the music)! They are definitely working out the kinks and tried to give us things we didn't order 3 times- but the vibe is cool and the service is great. We had 3-5 people checking on us and bringing us things, clearing things. Service felt worth the price of menu items and everyone was super nice. Food: The menu is unique and not typical fare (check out the menu I posted, but I feel like they will change this seasonally) - definitely a creation by a kitchen witch. Highly recommend the $12 deviled mystical dragon eggs - they look fun in bright jeweled tones and were actually really delicious. The $42 steak and frites (potato wedges) were good, but a bit pricy for something that didn't include a soup or salad or grilled veggie garnish on the plate. No dessert menu yet - it's all whatever the cafe has left in the bakery case. We had Guinness cake balls brought to us on a plate. Surprisingly decadent. Bathroom: First visit I was super confused looking at one door with a butterfly and one door with a mushroom. The sign in between said "whatever just wash your hands." As I contemplated that the mushroom door seemed more phallic, a girl came out of that one, so I was like oh! It's just a free for all. So then I picked the butterfly bathroom and it had female toiletries and perfume. Second visit I tried out the mushroom bathroom to get to the bottom of this mystery and see if it was the same as the butterfly one. Nope. The phallic mushroom did indicate a place with a urinal and no female hygiene products. But running around both bathrooms was very freeing lol. More things to know: Ambiance: Themes seem to be: palm reading/fortune*, sea witch*, brooms, kitchen witch, gemstone, cosmos/zodiac, moons and stars, fireplace/hearth*, and middle of room under the tree canopy. I think you need to have a party of 3-4 to get a booth. I indicated my favs :) Reservations: Dinner service starts at 5 and has limited tables (requires an online reservation secured by cc - $25 no show). They close 4-5 to prepare the back for dinner and reset the front for cafe. Before that, the front AND back of the cottage (including the themed areas) are all walk-in cafe seating (front is still cafe in evening). I was informed that AM Food is limited to cafe pastries and quiche. I experienced that they sold out of things first day opening weekend (so I ended up not getting anything from the cafe) - but that will get worked out and it's a great sign of their success. Note that they add on a 3% automatic kitchen appreciation fee to the dinner check. It's optional if you want to feel like an a-hole and say to remove it. They do have 0.0% alcohol free mocktails. Parking: Both days, I was able to find metered street parking on Weddington (free after 6 and on Sunday) and not pay the $15 lot. The lot is convenient though and I believe is a part of the building and helps support their costs. Overall - A super unique and fun addition to the area that is already bringing together like minded community who are showing up in cloaks, tiaras, pointy ears, hats, pretty dresses, etc. Any excuse to return... this is my new favorite place! Finally! The witchy, woo-woo community finally has a space to eat, drink, shop, learn, and just be among like-minded souls. From the moment you walk in, you're transported. The owners have truly thought of everything -- no detail overlooked, no corner untouched. The space feels magical yet welcoming. Dramatic tree-like columns stretch toward the ceiling, lush florals cascade overhead, and warm lighting gives everything a cozy glow (see photo #1). It feels like stepping into another world. The counter area is just as enchanting, with whimsical, witch-hat pendant lights and a beautiful sculpted tree installation against exposed brick (photo #2). It's equal parts charming café and mystical apothecary. We ordered oat milk lattes and a couple of pastries. My latte was delicious -- smooth and perfectly balanced. The sesame butter cookie and cardamom maple scone were both flavorful and comforting. We enjoyed everything while tucked into one of the cozy tables surrounded by eclectic artwork, crystal-inspired murals, and charming "Kitchen Witch" décor (photo #3). The atmosphere is tranquil, inviting, and perfect for lingering. They're also open for dinner service, which we're excited to come back and try. Hypothetically, if someone was an Empath, had a black cat, felt the energies of all living things, was obsessed with crystals and their healing powers, had stories of the supernatural and wore dark makeup... would you call them 'witchy'? Well, that someone is me and honestly, call away because I would take that as a compliment. I now have a place to gather with my coven merely minutes walking distance from my apartment in the Noho Arts District: The Witch's Cottage and trust me - gather, I will! Remember the Federal Bar in the NoHo Arts District at the Lankershim/Chandler intersection? Out with the old (good riddance!) and in the new as The Witch's Cottage - the blood, sweat and tears of Celina Lee Surniak, Danielle Ozymandias and their investor/partner, Ana Lovelis - has taken over the red brick two-story building and transformed it (along with 200 volunteers) into a fantasy, fairy tale, witchy, other realm. For months, my neighborhood was excitedly whispering about this mystical world preparing to make our spirits dance and I barely have the words to describe how amazing it is! The Witch's Cottage is themed complex complete with various fairy tale worlds to discover. Immediately upon entrance, is a coffee shop that welcomes with witchy details like owls, brooms, fake tree trim, high ceilings with ivy/flowers and a sitting area with an array of plush arm chairs, antique furnishings and sconces/candelabras to round out the look. This is already enough to make The Witch's Cottage worth a visit all on its own. Usually, a themed enterprise is a bit cheesy, kitschy and fails to truly embrace a vibe versus make a caricature of it. Not at The Witch's Cottage where the design is flawless, feels organic and the energy in the air is buzzing with spiritual strength from the amazing clientele that match the esthetic. Note: lots of gluten free pastries sweet and savory for my fellow Celiacs! But that's not it at The Witch's Cottage as a hallway connects the coffee shop to a dining area for a café/restaurant portion that stuns with more large, fake trees, flowers dripping from the ceilings and a dimly lit room. You will completely forget you are in Noho and think you stepped into the middle of a forest expecting elves and fairies to be scampering about. The menu consists of witchy-named soups, salads, appetizers such as Deviled Dragon's Eggs and Persephone's Cheese Plate and entrees like Iron Forged Fondue Melt and Coven's Cut & Frites. Prices are in the teens to twenties but this is expected in LA. I was already absolutely enthralled with The Witch's Cottage but then came my favorite part: the upstairs bar. Opening at 6pm, entering the bar is a fantasy adventure as staff walks patrons up in groups through the restaurant and up the back stair case where mystery mirrors and opened book pages (spell books, maybe?) leap off the walls. Once arriving at the bar, the most magnificently decorated bar in LA awaits with attention to detail that goes beyond any Disney ride or movie set. On the right is a seating area with candles, love seats, a nymph wood arch, a stage for performances and sound baths and walls decorated with zodiac symbols and stars. Each and every trim consists of more fake trees but the bar... the bar is a work of art with the entire foundation base consisting of fake tree trunks with mushrooms and fairy homes with little lights inside their windows. I can not even begin to explain how out of this world The Witch's Cottage truly is and of course the Potions & Elixers (cocktails $17) also feature witchy names and all focus on herbaceous, floral and smoky flavors. My warlock partner for the evening was just as obsessed as I and we shared a Lavender Sage iced tea in the coffee shop which was absolutely delicious with balanced flavors and even being unsweetened was still perfection. The price, $7 for an iced tea, was a bit steep but honestly, I don't care as it is worth the environment. Both the employees and other witchy patrons embraced us with conversation: it is an instant family at The Witch's Cottage. I cannot rave enough about The Witch's Cottage and I plan to return not once, not twice, but basically start paying rent and sleep on a cot because I want to live there. The Witch's Cottage isn't just a coffee shop/restaurant/bar but an EXPERIENCE and one of the best in the entire City of Angels and I have lived here 17 years at the time of review. Welcome the Witches Cottage to NoHo in the former Federal Building! I had to hit up the cafe on opening day. I've watched their social media and almost joined in the decorating fun! I have also checked out their monthly market. The line was out the door but not as bad as other places on their opening. For opening, service was great they were well staffed and even had staff attentive to tables everyone was super sweet and great on all interactions! Total time to took to brave the line and finally get the drink which I went with the Himiko Latte with soy (only other option was oat milk which I prefer to avoid) was an hour from getting in the line to getting my drink which after paying took as long as the line so about 30min. But I know the Opening Day Drill and planned accordingly, with the wait for my drink I enjoyed: The Miso Caramel banana bread, it was a little gummy on the texture but a small price to pay for being super unique vegan and gluten free! Texture aside the flavor is delightful and unique in a in the best way where the flavor is balanced not overstated. I'm super thankful they have a great selection of vegan and gluten-free baked goods because I also got the vegan maple scone which was not gluten free, but was perfect! With the crisp baked to golden perfection outside. A drizzle of cardamom spiced maple glaze and a melt in your mouth consistency of a traditional scone. Both baked goods were delicious but the scone was perfection! The ambiance is immersive they spent a long time documenting the handcrafted build out on the eclectic witch theme and decor! The best part is you aren't paying for the ambiance, the food and drink are well worth it! My drink, the Himiko, was a Hojicha Latte which is a type of green tea that is a roasted version so the flavor is different from a normal green tea. Once it arrived it was also absolutely delicious and very happy it's on the menu! I was able to have it with the scone which was a wonderful pairing! This space hosts a family friendly and inclusive atmosphere, there were quite a few babies present they were chill which leads me to ask what is this witchcraft... remembering that I'm in the Witches Cottage so of course it's magickand I must be magical to be the 111th person to order Overall be patient as they dial in both their offerings and timing, but I foresee an amazing future for the Witches Cottage! read more

The witch's cottage is a gorgeous, cozy haven. I came in on a Saturday evening, so the lounge upstairs was open. They let me bring my coffee and cookie from the coffee shop up there while my friend got a cocktail, so that was cool. The vibe of each section of this space is magical, the coffee shop, restaurant, and upstairs lounge are all unique and intricately designed. The staff were friendly, and the baked goods I tried were delish (shortbread cookie and tomato feta scone). Excited to come back. read more

Longtime local. Big lover of community‑oriented spaces. I wanted this to be a solid place. I followed The Witch's Cottage from the moment I saw the handwritten cardboard sign in the window. Very "cozy regulars vibe," very promising. Turns out...not so much. Right off the bat, the marketing was confusing. Opening dates teased, then ignored. Instagram ads nonstop asking locals to "invest" (with no explanation of ROI), while calling it a third space. In this economy? In this neighborhood? Color me skeptical--but I still showed up hopeful. Making a reservation required a $25 credit card hold (calm down, this is NoHo), and parking was $15 per car. So you're already $40 down before stepping inside. The space itself is cute and fairy‑themed, but the iconic copper bar was stripped out (a crime, IMO). The host was shockingly rude, despite us having a paid reservation. The server was so kind but incredibly slow. There was also live music we weren't warned about that was so loud we were screaming at each other, followed by awkward silence between sets. Felt like we were the beta testers for their sound system. Now...the food. I have never been more angry to pay for food in my life. - Deviled eggs so overcooked they were basically rubber balls. - Potato wedges ($15) burnt to hell on the outside and raw in the middle. I used to say "you can't mess up a potato"--I was wrong. - Grilled cheese sampler ($33), delivered by an owner, with scorched bread on one side, raw bread on the other, unmelted cheese, and giant chunks of raw onion. This plate should not have left the kitchen. Drinks showed up after the food, nearly an hour later. Only 1 of 4 cocktails was drinkable. The rest tasted like cleaning solution and went untouched. Total bill: $180 (before tip) for three appetizer‑style dishes and four drinks (not including parking or the CC hold). Girl math says that's $180 for one drink. The most puzzling part of The Witch's Cottage is calling this a "third space." A third space implies you can exist without spending an arm and a leg. This place requires reservations fees, pricey parking, and high menu prices. Slapping "witchy" branding on late‑stage capitalism doesn't make it community‑focused. Honestly, you're better off grabbing potato wedges from Alley Burger, a $10 drink at Contiki, or street tacos nearby--better food, better vibes, no hearing loss. I wanted this to work. It didn't. Edit: In their response to my Google Review, they stated that they comped food and beverages for us. They did not. My partner paid the full bill. We came with my mom, partner, friend, myself and my 14 year old daughter. They told us that since the dining area was packed, they would seat us in the Elven Lounge. We got excited, as this is our first time and had not heard of that area. We went to order drinks and food, so I asked for an NA menu so my daughter could get a drink. The bartender asked if my daughter was over the age of 21. I said no, then the bartender disappeared. They got us in trouble for her being up there and told us that we needed to go to the dining area. We told them that the hostess sat us upstairs because there was no room in the dining area. They then made us wait, while I was having a full blown panic attack, until they could find us a table downstairs. Why would you send us upstairs only to make a whole issue out of it immediately after? It is embarrassing, a horrible first experience and I will never be back. The atmosphere and decor were absolutely beautiful and really captured the cozy "Witch Cottage" theme. The service was friendly, and the drinks were enjoyable. I would definitely recommend visiting for the experience, ambiance, and cocktails. Unfortunately, the food did not quite meet our expectations. We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer, but they were unavailable. I also tried the Bayou Witch Étouffée, and while the flavor was decent, it had more of a tomato-based jambalaya taste rather than a traditional étouffée. The portion contained very few pieces of chicken and not many ingredients overall, especially for something poured over rice. Overall, this is a fun and visually creative place to visit, especially for the themed atmosphere and drinks, but I personally would return more for the ambiance than for the food. read more

I would take the subway up here and spend an afternoon here whether it be eating drinking or enjoying what this place will become. Having been a former patron of The Federal I can see the potential the space has perfect place to have workshops and enjoy any given tarot experience. Until then I cannot say enough good things, which is called cottage. Thank you for all the hard work, but I want to talk dead to get him into this place and make it special for all of us. This is a safe place. And comfort. You come here for the drinks first. Then the atmosphere. And the food... if you have to. It's not an escape room. It's just drinking in a medieval garden, which honestly is enough. You don't just walk in and head to the bar either -- everything is controlled, paced, and guided in a way that actually makes it feel more intimate instead of chaotic, even when it's busy. There's clearly a bigger vision here. You can feel it building. Especially with the DnD elements -- once that area opens up more, this place is going to level up for that crowd. The world just needs more DMs. It would benefit from something like an LFG system, similar to Destroyer in Eagle Rock, to help people connect and actually use the space for what it's leaning toward. If you end up in Teague's section, you'll get more of the theme from the staff, which makes a difference. Also -- huge bonus -- it's very close to the Red Line, so you can just take the train there and not worry about driving if you're drinking. That alone makes it way more accessible. This place feels like it's still becoming what it wants to be. But it's already something good. Hope it sticks around. read more
