The best part of this place is the huge pull-down white screen they use with a projector for the games it actually feels like you're watching the match at a mini stadium. When the EPL games are on, the whole bar is locked in and the vibe is awesome. The food is pretty standard bar food, like fries, the usual stuff. Nothing crazy but it definitely gets the job done while you're having a few drinks and watching the match. The real highlight here is the soccer atmosphere. Stopped in for a weekday lunch and found the place jammin' because a major soccer (football) match was on the TV (F&H is known for playing the matches at all hours, and the loyal crowd loves it). Despite being pretty busy, bartender Aaron did a great job of pouring drinks, ordering and serving food, and still making good conversation when he had a moment to spare. And even with the TV's loudly playing the match, the dark wood and comfortable stools created a relaxing atmosphere to combat the hectic traffic along Ventura Blvd. I decided to have their Grilled Cheese with Irish Bacon, which also comes with your choice of tomato or onion; I chose grilled onions. The bread was buttery and lightly grilled to an enjoyable crisp, while the cheddar was properly melted (something that often doesn't happen). Thick-cut Irish Bacon was nicely cooked without being tough, and the sweetness of the grilled onions proved to be a welcome foil for the saltiness of the cheese and bacon. With the onions and Irish bacon, this is a far more substantial sandwich than your average grilled cheese, and I had a touch of trouble finishing -- especially given the well-done & crispy fries that came on the side. But as this meal is about the same price as other places, you're definitely getting much more bang for your buck here, and the food is higher quality to boot. I've always liked Fox & Hounds, and it's nice to know their food and staff have remained top notch as the years have passed. If you've never been, it's most definitely worth a try -- and if you haven't been in a while, it's time to go back for a very satisfying pub experience. read more

The worst possible service almost deliberately negligent. I went in with a friend was greeted promptly ordered two beers which took 15 minutes to deliver. after that the bartender Tyler NEVER checked back with us, we had to get the bar back who was attentive and friendly for more beers our food and our check. Tyler spent most of this time down at the other end of the bar talking to what I assume are regulars, he never once looked at us or inquired how we were doing absolutely awful. Overall it's a nice looking place and the fish and chips were outstanding and what's the point if you can't get service. I was looking for an authentic pub to try some pub food. This place had everything I was looking for unfortunately when I arrived they were only serving fried food. The pub itself has the old school pub ambiance. The servers and bartenders are super friendly as well. I ended up getting their wings and sausage rolls. Wings were surprisingly good for a pub and the sausage rolls were decent as well. I was surprised at how good the food was. I also ordered a salad and the they gave a large portion size with a lot of different ingredients. Most restaurants give only lettuce and tomatoes so I was surprised. The fish had a nice golden crunch and the batter was on point texture-wise, but it just didn't bring much flavor. A little more seasoning would've gone a long way. Tartar sauce was okay--could've used a creamier, more herbaceous kick to really complement the fish. The steamed veggies were simple but fine, and the side salad with ranch was surprisingly fresh and full of vibrant greens, which I appreciated. While the cod Fish and Chips were 80/100, only because the batter lacks flavor, similar to H.Salt. but the prep is good, and the chips are twice-fried. It has all the accoutrements of a UK Pub atmosphere which is basically why you'd be visiting, to catch a match on the telly, or just share a pint with friends. But I do think the rest of their menu is worth exploring beyond the usual F&C. Like the Full English here is quite proper, though it's tough to find seeded bloomers out here, which is my preference. And sans blood sausage, but that's even tougher to source except for the 2 places around Santa Monica and Redondo Beach. The friendly service, and outstanding bar make for a wonderful experience, especially given the trendy and more pop-oriented places all along Ventura Blvd. This is a little home away from home, and feels cozy just to sit and ponder. read more

Had picnic tables / shared seating in back but lots of TVs and service to get you beer and food. Wanted to try a full monty but no substitutions on gameday so just went with fish and chips and some beer. Food was pretty standard fare and beer cold and on point. This is an easygoing, no frills type of British pub with a solid happy hour (daily 3-7pm). All appetizers are half off and beers on tap are $4.50. You really can't find that kind of value these days! We usually sit at the bar and get an order of wings plus beers on tap (nice variety). It's a very chill environment and great place to hang out after work. Overall fun new place my wife and I tried. People were extremely friendly, food was great and service constant, always on top and checked on us often. There's easy parking out back, and right as we walked in the front door, the bartender greeted us with a giant smiling welcome. It was such a nice night out, we decided to work our way past the indoor seating and sat our back. We were immediately greeted again and given a QRcode to scan for the menu. We already knew we wanted to try the Scottish Egg (Had never had one and thought it would be fun) and then found more than enough fun options on the menu to try. We also got potato skins (cooked perfectly), my wife got fish and chips and I got the Steak and Ale Pie. The Scottish Egg was so cool. Not exactly sure what the breading is on the outside, but it was delicious. It came with some sides (some sort of sweet pickle type dip, cheese and pos onions?) It was delicious by itself, but I also took bites with the cheese and the pickle topping and it was great. My Steak and Ale was damn good, too. Nice flakey pastry crust on the top and more than enough filling to take care of my needs. Had a side of fries with it and all though all were not perfectly cooked, the majority of them hit the spot:) Look forward to going again and bringing my family and friends.
