Grilled Cheddar Cheese Sandwich with Irish Bacon and Sauteed Onions. Perfectly crispy fries on the side.
    Evan W.

Stopped in for a weekday lunch and found the place jammin' because a major soccer (football) match was on the TV (F&H is known for playing the matches at all hours, and the loyal crowd loves it). Despite being pretty busy, bartender Aaron did a great job of pouring drinks, ordering and serving food, and still making good conversation when he had a moment to spare. And even with the TV's loudly playing the match, the dark wood and comfortable stools created a relaxing atmosphere to combat the hectic traffic along Ventura Blvd. I decided to have their Grilled Cheese with Irish Bacon, which also comes with your choice of tomato or onion; I chose grilled onions. The bread was buttery and lightly grilled to an enjoyable crisp, while the cheddar was properly melted (something that often doesn't happen). Thick-cut Irish Bacon was nicely cooked without being tough, and the sweetness of the grilled onions proved to be a welcome foil for the saltiness of the cheese and bacon. With the onions and Irish bacon, this is a far more substantial sandwich than your average grilled cheese, and I had a touch of trouble finishing -- especially given the well-done & crispy fries that came on the side. But as this meal is about the same price as other places, you're definitely getting much more bang for your buck here, and the food is higher quality to boot. I've always liked Fox & Hounds, and it's nice to know their food and staff have remained top notch as the years have passed. If you've never been, it's most definitely worth a try -- and if you haven't been in a while, it's time to go back for a very satisfying pub experience.

Being a regular and the fox and hounds feels like all my Cheers dreams coming true. From the friends we've made at karaoke, to the food that's always delicious and exactly what we need, to Tyler the probably telepathic bartender who always has our drinks ready before we even ask. It feels like home if my house was a cozy pub/restaurant with a legendary Karaoke scene. Thank you Tyler, Michael, Summer, Bryce and John for always taking care of us, and especially to Tyler for always putting up with us. And if you're heading to The Fox for the first time, try the fries with curry sauce and tip your bartenders!!

Stopped by for a classic Fish and Chips, but swapped the chips for steamed veggies to keep things on the lighter side. The fish had a nice golden crunch and the batter was on point texture-wise, but it just didn't bring much flavor. A little more seasoning would've gone a long way. Tartar sauce was okay--could've used a creamier, more herbaceous kick to really complement the fish. The steamed veggies were simple but fine, and the side salad with ranch was surprisingly fresh and full of vibrant greens, which I appreciated. Portion-wise, I wish the two pieces of fish were a bit bigger and more flavorful, but overall, it was a decent meal in a cozy pub atmosphere. Solid 4 stars.

Fish n Chips. I ate half it lol. It was soooo good! With yummy mushy peas.

I love the fish and chips! By far the best ones I've had in LA. It was cooked perfectly. Service was fantastic! She was amazing and I hope to see her again, next time I'm here. It's a real chill vibe. Good for friends or dates. Though it can get loud.

After a great hike at a Griffith park my darling took me to one of his favorite spots . First time coming here for some fish n chips and an ice cold Guinness! Very impressed ! The Alaskan Cod battered fish was AMAZING and fresh to order. Side salad was fresh mixed greens, cucumbers, diced celery, cherry tomatoes and bell pepper strips was delightful and refreshing. The Guinness was ice cold. Looking forward to coming back soon. The bartenders were friendly and polite and cleared our table immediately! Great service . The ambience was inviting and many tvs to watch sports !

This place is as good as it gets. English style pub with a great menu and great pub like atmosphere. Guinness line is clean and cold, flowing like a fine wine to be honest. Servers and bartenders are all great people!! Go to the Hound for a good time!

I didn't have a good experience, but decided that it could have been a one-time bad luck thing, so I didn't review. I recently tried it again now that it became Brews Brothers, and I'm sorry to say that it really misses the mark for me. Here is the breakdown of the pros and cons: Pros: One star for friendly service and being dog friendly. One star for good alcohol. Cons: - Seating is very uncomfortable. When this place was Stout, seating was very comfy. But for some reason, they've raised the bench seating WAY too high, to the point that your feet dangle if you're under 5'6". You're WAY above the table, and it's awkward and quite uncomfortable. - Food is sub-par. We tried an Okie burger and an ahi sandwich. The Okie burger was dry, tasteless, and underseasoned. The ahi sandwich was bland and unremarkable. The fries were far too overbreaded for my taste. I used to love this place, but now, after two not-great experiences with meh food and bad seating, I do not think I'll be back. Please, guys! Lower your bench seating and improve your burgers! You're competing with Forman's and Laurel Tavern!
