My friends and I decided to enjoy a Friday evening here in order to catch up! We were all in the mood for something more casual and one of my friends was craving wings so we decided to make the trek here. The restaurant is located off the G line. No need to make a reservation but I'd suggest coming a bit earlier than the usual dinner rush time because the space filled up quick. When it was our time to order my friends decided to go with an assortment of wings while I decided to try their steak sandwich which was recommended by our server as something that would most definitely fill me up. I'm very happy I decided to get this dish because it in fact filled me up! It also came with a hearty portion of fries. Nachos came out first, a large pile of chips with fresh tomato, salsa, sour cream, cheese, onions, and chili. Good combination of stuff, but was hoping there would be some guacamole or avocado. I give big ups to most any place that I can sit outside with a bunch of great friends on a sunny warm afternoon. Big props to Monique R for setting up a fun UYE yesterday here at The Wing Bar. Large backyard patio with communal picnic tables easily fit in our large group. I felt like I was sitting at a friend's backyard BBQ. When I arrived everyone was in the process of devouring bowls of delicious smelling wings and ribs. Good thing I avoided most of this as I am sticking to my diet and that would have been devastating! Still, they have a few things on the menu for us calorie counters. Veggie burger, veggie dog, and a few others. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was quite tasty. The chicken is seasoned, moist, and huge. They don't skimp on the poultry here! Had them skip the mayo and asked for BBQ sauce instead which I feel adds more flavor anyway. Even though it came with russet style french fries that also had a nice seasoning on them I only tried a few and left the rest. Call it willpower, or call me crazy! Before I even came in obviously. Clearly triggered when I dared to asked for a menu when the plastic table sign QR code CLEARLY says "SCAN ME". Yes it's the damn menu boomer! That same plastic sign held a really clear & concise menu for years until not so long ago. Then came the snarky warning that by asking for my wings; which I take naked, be pulled a little sooner because they needn't be Xtra crispy (drier) to take the standard wet toss, that I'll be risking Salmonella poisoning. Take that smart guy!Chucking empty bottles with a 3ft arc into a recycling bin merely 2' from my seat...just for effect & to spray her scent on her sad little domain. Slapping my glass of water down BEHIND my left elbow on the corner of the table then telling me that the oil laden buffalo sauce I received was just so because that's how they 'Cut' the hot sauce to make it "medium". No fucking joke! She seriously said that! Seems true so bad on the owner SMH. Theresa's original recipe utilized butter as the fat, not Admiration soy oil BTW. I left her 0% tip and handed 25% tip to the line cook who made my wings perfectly. Thank you! Gawd I fear for this society and say Adieu to a great wings joint from the "GOOD 'OL DAYS". I hadn't been to Wing Bar in a hot minute. But I remember back in the day when we would go to Zombie Hut we'd somehow end up here. Or we'd just end up here when drinking on Smith street and my friends actually came out to Brooklyn. I had some time to kill before meeting up with someone and was like 'blah, I wonder if there's any craft beer nearby'. I couldn't find craft beer, I didn't want to spend all of my monies away at Zombie which has grossly inflated their prices for sugary drinks over the years, insert 'hey, I remember Wing bar'. The drinks are still cheap. You can get a beer for $3-4. You know what else is awesome? You can get 2 of them for the same price before 7pm on a weekday. Oh my god. I had to drink them fast after I realized this for meeting my friend. Early friday night buzz. I've actually had the wings here before and they are really delicious and the spicy ones pack some heat. Wing Bar has a few TVs for those looking to catch a game too. They offer orders of 10, 20, 50 or 100 wings. An order of 20 is usually good for 2 while an order of 50 is good for 4 so you can work your math from there. With that said, they also offer the wings in 4 flavors -- Mild, Medium, Hot or BBQ with a dish of carrots, celery and blue cheese. I recommend that you split your wings between the flavors to get a taste of each. In addition to the wings, they offer some awesome sides too!
